So it seems I've managed to softbrick the device while attempting to install TWRP. I have yet to see any apparent guides to unbricking the XA2 Ultra, so I was wondering if someone could direct me to some instructions if possible.
Try downloading the correct firmware in Xperifirm, then using NewFlasher (https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...gress-newflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426) to flash it. Should get you back to stock.

I have been trying a long time to get the most mileage out of the TL00 that I bought from mainland earlier this year. I looked everywhere for the option to upgrade to Lollilop but everywhere I saw there were only updates available for TL09 or TL10 models. Finally, I was able to see that there was an update available which was compatible for both TL00 and TL10 models here:
http://www.carbontesla.com/2015/10/download-ascend-mate-7-b351-lollipop-firmware/
Note that my phone is already rooted so whenever I follow their directions to do a local upgrade through the system menu or forced upgrade through the hardware keys, it takes me back to CWM recovery where I am unable to do the upgrade. I have a feeling I have to first un-root the device back to stock and then follow the upgrade procedure. Please advise. Also, instructions on unrooting would be appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance

No need to unroot. You just need to replace CWM with the stock recovery - you cant do updates with CWM. Search this forum for the download link for the zip file of your current firmware, and use the HuaweiExtractor app to extract the recovery.img file, then flash it using ADB. Then you should be able to do a local update of the b351 firmware. After this you will be un-rooted again, although your bootloader will still be unlocked. You then just need to follow the same steps as before to re-root your phone (in my case, I just re-flashed CWM/TWRP, flashed SuperSU and installed SuperSU via PlayStore).

and he can do that all with unlocked device?
Success! Used the recovery tool from this thread to install stock recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/orig-development/tool-android-4-4-5-1-pc-t3186984
Then was able to do the local update. Now onto rooting 5.1 and enjoying other things Thanks for your input!
Last year i rooted my Note 8 using the SamFail V3 method, in anticipation of the Pie & OneUI update, I am attempting to reset to stock firmware to allow my device to receive OTA updates. However, Odin is failing to flash the stock firmware onto my device, I have tried every firmware version I can get my hands on, and still Odin fails with Device info or Write Error. Has anyone encountered this, some guidance would be most appreciated.

You're using the wrong odin.. Try the newest odin.
This works for me, but I'm assuming you have 950U version. I included CRK1 to help you, as well as the Odin that is patched and works for me every time. https://bit.ly/2DBbCTP
Hey, its been a while since I have updated my phone. Its v9.0.6 and I wanted to update it to the latest. I figured id run the command all.bat that will freshly reinstall the stock 9.0.6.
I downloaded the latest stock firmware from the website. After I update, what twrp and other instruction will I need to be able to access root and TWRP again? What Twrp image and I flashing to my phone?
Thanks, Brad
Hello, I do suggest the new update as many bugs has been fixed.
The rooting/twrp procedure is quite easy I suggest you to have a look at the guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3792643
I've been using the "mauronofrio twrp" but I'm sure that the last twrp version on the official website will work properly.
Hello all,
I hope someone can help since at the moment I can't do anything with my phone. I wanted to give a new live to my Sony XZP since I am tired of the phone, so I decied to unlock the bootloader and install twrp/root so I could test some of the available Android 10 roms here in XDA.
The unlock bootloader part was ok (once I realised that windows 10 wasn't installing the drivers properly and I sorted that), the problems started when I installed twrp twrp-3.3.1-0-maple, when I restarted into recovery twrp I couldn't see any of my files and there was actually an error saying can't mount /data and when I tried to do select storage everything said 0 MB.
I did what is mentioned on this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/how-to-fix-unable-to-mount-data-t3830897
After this when I rebooted my phone was stuck on the Xperia screen, from there I just have been tried to restore anything there, however I am not an advanced users I tried a few things:
1- Used XperiFirm embeeded in Flashtool to download the Europe CE1 image for my device G8142 dual and tried to flash it using Flashtool but it seems the phone doesn't do anything after getvar-max-download-size or something similar
2 - Tried to use newflasher to flash the same image, but it also fails in the same step
AFter this I realised I could push files to the phone using ADB, so I tried the following:
3 - Pushed the SuperSU to the phone and flashed it
4 - Pushed a few roms (LineageOS 17.1 for XZP, eXistenZ Pie v10.0.0 47.2.A.10.107 )
5 - I tried to flash eXistenZ Pie v10.0.0 47.2.A.10.107 but the phone entered in a restart loop that was going always to the TWRP recovery
6 - I tried to flash LineageOS 17.1 for XZP but aftert reboot the phone doesn't do nothing, I can't power one, not fastboot, no flashmode nothing, now it seems that I really bricked.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
This can be closed, I was able to restore my phone, I noticed flashmode still worked, once I found a tutorial explaining how to prepare the firmware downloaded by XperiFirm so it could be used with newflasher I was able to flash the most current CE1 firmware and the phone is working. I wanted to leave it here for someone else's reference.
However it would be nice to have a single article explaining how to unlock the booloader, install twrp and root and use that to flash a custom rom. If anyone knows about such article can you please share?
I searched the forum but I can only find bits and pieces nothing really explaining it in a simple way that someone that doesn't know much about this can use.

Try using the twrp linked below, its an older version (3.2.1) but works flawlessly. Install it in fastboot mode, using the same command as the other recovery (fastboot flash recovery TWRPA10.img).

Hey so I bricked my phone, can I somehow repair it?
I did such steps:
I wanted basicly to get back to stock android 10/11 from installed Arrow OS android 12 software.
I tried following this guide : Guide 1
But Emma did not want to install stuff on my phone, so I tried different route which is Guide 2
When I tried guide 2 using sony flash tool provided in that link, after I tried to upload firmware to phone, it stuck at the very beginning.
So stupid me tried to use Xperia Companion repair feature. It said that my phone has to have bootloader locked, so I locked it back with fastboot.
And welp here we are. i don't even get bootloop, just info "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and it won't boot" error message.
Any ideas how to fix it? Or did I mess up completly?
did u test to flashing with new flasher?
What do you mean? I don't understand.
