What is overclocking and underclocking? What is available For our phone? How to do it?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA App
Over-clocking->
By default our phone has a processor with a capability of a 1 GHz speed. But, the processor can do more. To make the processor do more speed is OVER-CLOCK. Currently, We have a Over-clock kernel of 1.1 GHz. Overclocking can heat up your phone and lessen battery life
Underclock->
If you feel your processor is heating up a lot or you dont need a large processor, there is an option to make the processor do less work at a lesser speed. This is underclock. Underclocking may give you more of battery life, but, the speed of the processor is decreased.
I dont think we have an under-clock kernel. But, here is a OC kernel:

Hello, I have a THL 5000 cellphone, which is an octa-core one and I'd like to know if its better for me to use a governor that try to use the max frequency of a core, hence using less cores, or if it's better to use more cores with a min frequency.
Which config will use less power and which governor/config is better for me to use, and which app would give me those settings?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
So I have honor 6 H60_L04 rooted .
I have better battery stats installed.
When I look at the CPU states, the maximum state it goes to is only 1.3ghz. I know this phone has like dual quad core, 1 for heavy processing, another for daily/light activities.
I've tried using performance mode, running antutu benchmarks, but the 1.7ghz state doesn't seem to appear at all under the statistic.
I've also tried normal power state mode.
Do you know any idea how to activate the fasterr processor?

honor 6 has two sets of quadcore processors(arm big.little configuration)
the cpu apps shows only the frequencies of little i.e, the little 1.3ghz processor and not the bigger 1.7ghz set
see cpu z app if you have any doubts
I believe the kirin architecture uses 4 cortex A15 cores and four energy efficient A7 cores. During normal use the A7s run at a max of 1.3ghz (fine for general use) and the A15 cores are under clocked. Then for intensive use (gaming etc) the A15 cores run at 1.7ghz
Here is an attached screen shot of my cpu-z
At the bottom of the screen, it says interactive governor.
But i did plenty of antutu benchmarks. Shouldn't that work the A15 cores to 1.7ghz? Or is better battery stats not showing me the second quadruple cores states?

More than likely BBS only reading the A7 cores. In CPU-Z for example, if I constantly click the square task button in the navigation bar and then click CPU-Z I can see the speed go up to 1.7Ghz.
Also until/unless Huawei release the kernel source there won't be any ability to overclock unfortunately... which is frustrating as the A15 can easily be clocked to 2GHz :crying:

Coool.. Thanks alot! The A15 does go up to 1.5Ghz+++ when i spam the screen or buttons while in CPU-Z. So it is BBS then that is not tracking the A15 cores. Thanks agaiN!
Hey guys I am using kernel auditor
Want to know
1)the profile to get the max performance regardless of battery
2)profile for normal multitasking but with higher battery saving capacity than stock arrangement
3)which is better 4 Cores and then restricting to 1.5ghz (or any other frequency which u would seem for the power saving) or switching off permanently and then setting the frequencies at about 2 GHz
Wondering if someone know any kernel that has energy "savings" parameters such as underclocking cpu(phone is quite fast itself and to be honest as a daily driver some users rarely use more than 30% of it's actual power), energy saving profil, underclocking gpu
Surely you can underclock stuff for yourself and after a restart an app to force those lower clocks but why not having a kernel that has all these so you'll have better battery life and be done with tweaking?
What are your thoughts people?
