Does anyone know if it will eventually be possible to overclock the GPU in the Nexus 5 to match the S800 MSM8974AB chip?
The S800 chip in the Nexus 5 is the MSM8974 chip which has the GPU clock of 450MHz, but there is another version of the S800 chip called the MSM8974AB which has the GPU clocked at 550MHz.

It will definitely be possible with kernels. Don't know how safe it will be to overclock by 100mhz, but on my HTC One Elemental X gives the option to overclock from stock 400mhz to 550 (very bad for the device though). So the Nexus 5 will definitely be able to hit 550 as well.

I Overclocked the CPU to 2.5GHz via a custom kernel, but I am unable to pass the 450MHz of the CPU.

which device use MSM8974AB chip?
I have the Z1 also, which has the same chipset as the N5. There is a custom kernel for the z1 that OCs the GPU to 533mhz which I run stably with excellent battery life. So I'm sure it's possible to do the same with the N5 since it's the same processor. I have 600MHz GPU overclock implemented in my kernel for the Xperia Z1, which uses the lower binned version of the msm8974 (the one that comes with a stock clock-speed of 2.2GHz).
We have 450/487.5/533/600 MHz scaling steps.
You can take a look at the OC commits here, it's pretty straight-forward:

It is, but not yet implemented on the nexus 5 custom kernels.
Also mhz does not mean voltage (V) or (uVolts on this case). MHz means a frequency of 1 million times per second (used on this case for CPU, GPU, RAM speed)

True, but @Carter07 is right that if the maximum allowed voltage is too low the GPU won't be able to sustain higher frequencies, as those demand more power.
The 600MHz OC is stable with the stock voltage, though, at least on the Z1 it is.

You can flash Bricked kernel and use Kcontrol to force-overclock your gpu up to 650...but I wouldn't recommend anything above 550 since you will get little to no performance and it'll consume a lot more battery
Is there a huge performance boost noticable if you oc the cpu? And what's about the battery life?

There's no recognisable boost in performance apparently. And yes,battery drain will be higher if you raise voltages and you also risk damage to the core.

So I have honor 6 H60_L04 rooted .
I have better battery stats installed.
When I look at the CPU states, the maximum state it goes to is only 1.3ghz. I know this phone has like dual quad core, 1 for heavy processing, another for daily/light activities.
I've tried using performance mode, running antutu benchmarks, but the 1.7ghz state doesn't seem to appear at all under the statistic.
I've also tried normal power state mode.
Do you know any idea how to activate the fasterr processor?

honor 6 has two sets of quadcore processors(arm big.little configuration)
the cpu apps shows only the frequencies of little i.e, the little 1.3ghz processor and not the bigger 1.7ghz set
see cpu z app if you have any doubts
I believe the kirin architecture uses 4 cortex A15 cores and four energy efficient A7 cores. During normal use the A7s run at a max of 1.3ghz (fine for general use) and the A15 cores are under clocked. Then for intensive use (gaming etc) the A15 cores run at 1.7ghz

More than likely BBS only reading the A7 cores. In CPU-Z for example, if I constantly click the square task button in the navigation bar and then click CPU-Z I can see the speed go up to 1.7Ghz.
Also until/unless Huawei release the kernel source there won't be any ability to overclock unfortunately... which is frustrating as the A15 can easily be clocked to 2GHz :crying:

Coool.. Thanks alot! The A15 does go up to 1.5Ghz+++ when i spam the screen or buttons while in CPU-Z. So it is BBS then that is not tracking the A15 cores. Thanks agaiN!

On the screenshot added you see that all the frequencies from 300 MHz to 652 Mhz use the same voltage.
Does this mean that these frequencies use the same amount of energy? I was also wondering if the 652 MHz frequency heats my phone just as much as the lower frequencies, since they are using the same voltage.

If you have enable perfomance per app profile from settings your device does not
Go lower than 1190mhz
Only for few sec go to 300mhz to idle state but most you play up to 1190-1450 mhz
I've disabled that because I'm using AK-kernel combined with synapse to give me the best settings. I'm using a profile that makes my processor stay often on the lower frequencies.

2)profile for normal multitasking but with higher battery saving capacity than stock arrangement
3)which is better 4 Cores and then restricting to 1.5ghz (or any other frequency which u would seem for the power saving) or switching off permanently and then setting the frequencies at about 2 GHz

I noticed that all cores of my Nexus 5 are rarely used. Only 1 is used most of the time, at higher frequency. Is it possible to make it use, all 4 cores at lower frequency, to get same performance at lower power consumption.
I can underclock the cores, but only if all are used, same performance will be obtained.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Esp, a solution using some kernel manager like Kernel Adiutur etc.
I'm pretty sure this is how Franco kernel works, you could try it on that
