I have the Huawei watch 2 sport, non LTE variant. I've noticed that after the Oreo update at least twice a day I have to go and turn "play voice call on watch" off, than on again for it to work. The watch is constantly refusing to answer phone calls and reroutes them to the phone. Anyone have a fix for this ?

It is a known bug Google tried to fix it in latest update, unfortunately I experience the same.

I have my S2 connected to my Nexus 6 via bluetooth. My S2 is the LTE version with T-mobile. When someone calls my cell, it rings on my Nexus as well as the S2. I'm ok with that. But if I answer the call on my Nexus, my S2 acts like a speaker phone. Don't like that. I want to be able to answer call on my nexus and use the nexus for the call or answer the call on my S2 and take the call on that. Is that possible?
Fron my understanding if you are using your watch on Bluetooth connection then the watch will act like a Bluetooth speaker if you answer a call on your phone. Only work around is to disconnect Bluetooth from your phone when you answer the call. Think of playing music thru a portable Bluetooth speaker and receiving a call while listening to music. You'd just disconnect Bluetooth from your phone to have a private convo.
Any help from HERE?
Yeah. I read that too. Not happy about it. Samsung needs to fix that issue. I had the urbane before s2. The s2 seems more of a work in process. Miss the integration of Android apps into the watch such as spotify.
Another reason Samsung needs to get rid of Tizen and only use Android Wear.
I have a Samsung Note 5 and don't have that problem. I can answer from either the phone or the watch on my S2 T-Mobile. If I had a non Sammy phone I would not be happy, hopefully they will fix in an update, or a Dev will put out a program to help. They advertise the watch as working with any Android 4.4 or above phone, they do not mention limitations if you are not on a Samsung phone.
I came up with a solution that fixes part of the problem. I use an app on my phone called Macrodroid. It's an automated task app. I created a macro that when I answer a call on my phone , it turns off bluetooth and vice versa when I hang up. So that works fine when I answer a call on my phone the call is not picked up by the S2. But when I answer the call on my S2, Macrodroid can't tell tell the difference that I'm answering the call on my S2 not the phone and turns off bluetooth. Not good!. There are more sophisticated macro apps out there, but I'm not that good with those. Maybe someone smarter than me can create one.
I also used Macrodroid to automatically call forward (and cancel forward) my cell phone to my watch when they are disconnected via bluetooth.
Go to settings, Bluetooth, and click the gear next to your watch. Uncheck phone audio. No problems now hopefully that's what you're looking for

this solves the problem!
You dont want to use a macro to turn off bluetooth completely when a call comes in , especially if you use a Bluetooth headset with your phone..
I had forgotten where I'd seen this until now.

I kept trying to find the "Phone Audio" setting on the watch's bluetooth settings, not the phone's. Doh!

Awesome! Been trying to figure that out for days!!!
Hi,
I am using the non-LTE version Frontier.
On Samsung site it says:
"*Bluetooth model requires Wi-Fi connection and a voice call app for phone-free calls."
When BT is connected , call works through the phone.
But when I disconnect BT and connect to the phone through wireless network, call is not allowed.
What may be the "voice call app" stated above? Where can we find it ?
Thx.
no ideas anyone ?
i am also looking for it (spotify also )
I'm also curious about this. Everyone who I have asked has no clue what this app is

On my phone, I use a call app called CSipSimple. You can get it on the Play Store. It is open source (code available for download) so maybe someone who knows how to program for Tizen could rewrite it for our watches. Hopefully someone has already started something like this.
I'm going to assume they will eventually release something official. By the time a developer gets around to developing something with all the bugs worked out it may be useless.
will they release something ?
are we assuming ? because what's written on the product page is not really explaining...
agree, they have really dropped the ball in the handling of this watch from logistics to support
any update on this? I tried to make call over wifi with my non lte s3 but this doesnt work. Any voice call app available? Im hoping that whatsapp or viber will come out with their own tizen app for s3.
nothing yet
They want to push the LTE version I'm assuming. Look for them to drag their feet when it comes to getting such an app out there.
has anyone reached out to samsung to find out if and when they will ever release this?
A quarter later and still no release info. No surprise Samsung drops the ball again
any news on that topic, I was chasing to get an information about this feature but the internet stays quiet about it...
is it someone caring about that feature, cause I am? Coming from the Gear S with sim capabilities I feel like a leftover (not possible to get the esim version in my country)
pitty

Yeah, samsung drop the ball again. Their latest update saying there is going to support samsung internet for gear. Up until now, nothing.

Any updates on this? Has an app like WhatsApp, Line, Viper, Skype or similar been released to use as standalone from the phone? I.e. it would be great to make calls while in the gym and being only connected to the gym wifi and my headset Bluetooth.
Since I updated my Pixel to Android 8.0 Oreo about a month ago, I don't get any notifications any more. The only thing that seems to be working is phone calls which I can see on my gear.
What I've tried to do, to solve it:
- Cleared data for the Gear app
- Uninstalled and reinstalled all Samsung applications
- Factory reset the Gear
- Checked that the Gear app has permission to notifications
- Checked that the Gear has the latest firmware
- Rebooted my Pixel
- Tried to connect my Gear S3 to a Huawei phone running Android 7.0 (notifications worked)
- Contacted Google that said the issue probably is because the Samsung app doesn't support Oreo
- Contacted Samsung that said Google is "probaby right" and I'll have to wait for an firmware update for the Gear which they have no ETA for?
If Google is right, everyone with Oreo should have this problem? Or atleast someone else? Is that the case?
I have Oreo beta on my Nokia 8 and have no problems which weren't present on nougat.
No issues with notifications.

Ok, does anyone else have any idea of what can be the issue for me?
I'm having the same issue. Also with my pixel. Tried everything you have also done. Almost at the stage I'm about to switch back to my old moto 360 until they release a patch. Not being able to receive any type of notification is a deal breaker for me.
have you tried to clean cache, stop the Bluetooth process on pixel and run it again?
Anybody got solution for this?
I upgraded OnePlus 3 to Oreo and notifications stopped showing on Gear.
Soon afterwards I upgraded Gear to Tizen 3 but that didi't solve problem.
The new software update that was released a few days ago solved the issue for me.
Exactly the same problems and frustrations
In short, have tried all the same actions as set out by yourself. No Gear 3 notifications started with Pixel upgrade to Android 8.0. Like others have stated here, makes wearing and relying on Gear watch very marginal. I bought Gear watch to pickup notifications when doing outdoors, relatively hands free sporting activities.
Everyone: please keep THIS discussion thread alive in search of eventual solution. Thanks. John, Sydney Australia
Same issues
I recently purchased a gear s3 Frontier watch, after much researching, it was the one that most fit my wants.
It is paired with my Pixel phone and for the first 3 or 4 days it worked great but now I don't receive any notifications at all except for Samsung Health... Notifications are all turned on but nothing comes through?
It seemed to have started with the Tizen 3.0 update. But could't say if it was immediately after or a day or two later. I've done multiple resets but nada.
Phone calls do come through to the watch but my phone doesn't ring anymore when the watch is connected..
No settings were changed on the watch or the phone app.. One day it worked fine, the next day, everything quit...
This is very disappointing... these notifications were the reason I wanted a smart watch in the first place.
Any idea whats going on?
The watch is SM-R760 running Tizen 3.0.0.1 version R760XXU2CQL1
Knox 2.2.0
Know Tizen 2.2.0
SE for Tizen 1.0.0
TIMA 3.0.0
Pixel Phone on Android 8.1.0
Snapdragon S8 on nougat with a similar problem. My notifications will disable themselves and the switch to turn them back on will be grayed out and unselectable. Only way to get them to work again is by rebooting the watch and the phone, but it will only work for a few hours until it's broken again.
I have a similar problem with my Oneplus 3.
Evertyhing worked fine until I updated my phone to OxygenOS 5.0.3 Android 8.0.0. Since then the Gear S3 doesn't receive any notification. The only one are phone calls.
The settings for notifications are on (in the Gear App and OS settings unchanged). Resetting the watch didn't change anything. Round about 2 times a day the gear looses the bluetooth connection for ~30 seconds which is new as well.
Resetting the phone is no option.
Any ideas or new information about this problem?

I reinstalled the Gear app, repaired and resetted the watch which didn't change anything.
Though I forget about the Samsung Accessory Service app. After reinstalling this, rebooting the phone and repairing the watch the notifitications are working again.
In the matter of connection loss I can't tell not yet.

I know this is an old thread, but I stopped getting notifications on my Oneplus 7 Pro - Android 10. I had to turn off battery optimization for the three Samsung apps - Galaxy Wear, Gear Plug in and Samsung Accessory Service. I now have notifications back.
So I'm running a S7 Edge + Gear S3 Frontier (Wi-Fi) combo. I've never had a single issue up until I updated to Tizen 3 yesterday. Everything looks fancier and better and so far I really enjoy it. But there's that little thing that irritates the hell out of me. When I call someone or someone calls me, the Bluetooth icon in the Call app is turned on by defaut so everything goes through the mic and speaker of my watch. I have to specifically click it again to turn it off every single time I make a call. Sometimes I forget to do so and it turns out rather embarrassing.
This has always been the default behaviour with my car's bluetooth and I've been fine with that. But this happening with the smartwatch as well is absolutely irritating.
Is someone experiencing this issue as well and any ideas how to fix it?

Did the same thing yesterday. Definitly started after update.
Same here.
I've already tried everything possible (I think ) Would turning audio bluetooth off cut the watch from the phone? Audio is my only option in bluetooth settings... I'm using Gear S3 classic along with Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

had the same issue, but after factory reset on my gear s3 it was fixed, have a try ...
Have this exact issue. Factory Reset the watch with no change.
Also turning off calls under bluetooth settings on the phone disconnects the watch from the phone thus this is not an option.

Everyone who has a smart watch that can make BT phone calls has this problem.
The car kit connects as "Connected (no phone)."
This bug was introduced by Google with Pixel XL after 7.0.2 update, and they never fixed it.
Individual manufacturers fix this in their own Android skins except Google, Xaiomi and now Oneplus.
BTW, the bug was not present in 5.1.5. OOS, and was introduced in 5.1.6 or 5.1.7 (I skipped the 5.1.6 update.) So, it's likely that OP simply and lazily copied Google code at that point.
If you want to get rid of this annoyance, one possible way is to disable Phone Audio option in the watch BT properties on the phone.
Of course, you could also flash 5.1.5.

Then you couldn't talk and listen to phone calls on the watch. You could initiate and receive the phone calls on the watch, but the audio would automatically go to the phone instead.
