Hi all,
I am kind of new to the whole Android scene. I need a little help updating my phone. I recently rooted it on 2.2.19.a955. I uninstalled several stock apps, 3G Wifi Hotspot, the Amazon stuff, and something else. I was able to reinstall everything but the 3G Wifi Hotspot. Can't seem to find an apk or recover it or anything.
When I tried to update, it gives me an error saying that it is unable to update.
I am not sure what it is. I think the missing apps or the root is preventing me from updating.
Please help!
Thanks.
-Kevin
Im having the same issue
I also removed some of the bloat and when my OTA update failed I reinstalled all of it from the system dump found in another thread on this forum (it won't let me post a link). I checked all my permissions and made sure they were 644 but my update is still failing on Mynet.apk. I have checked it; it is there and its permissions are 644. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

You could always just flash back to the stock system with the .sbf released in "The Bomb" you probably used to root. Once you do that youve lost root but back to stock then do the OTA update, re-root, and also have your bloat back... Its a little lengthy but Google and your sd card have most everything backed up for you anyway.

I have the SBF. I am just not sure how to flash it back onto my phone. I really don't have that much stuff. I've only installed a few programs. Not a big deal.

Still having trouble figuring out how to install mynet.apk. I downloaded the file, but I am unsure what to do now.
You have to use adb to install system apps. So, something like:
- put Mynet.apk in your sdk tools folder
- Open command prompt
- cd c:/wherever-your-sdk-tools-folder-is
- adb devices (to verify the connection)
- adb remount
- adb push Mynet.apk /system/app/Mynet.apk
- adb remount
As a note, I updated to 2.2.20 with root but without removing apps.
If you do use the snf from The Bomb, what is that other file out of curiosity?
Thanks Karnovaran.
Is there anything I need to do with the opek file? I followed your steps generally and I am still not getting anything.
So... I followed your directions. I put Mynet.apk in the folder. Ran ADB, copied the file to the sdcard. Mounted. Ran rageagainstthecage. Copied the Mynet.apk to the apps folder on the system. Same with the odex file, and remounted, and exited, but still nothing...
I was able to flash my phone using the files from the RootzWiki bomb. Flashed it successfully. Now it doesn't have a connection to the Verizon network. No data service. Not sure about phone service though.

You probably need to dial *22899 from your phone before it will get back on the Verizon network.
Does the ota contain something that is really needed. I am debating if I want to unroot just for the ota. Hopefully some one figure away to give us an update that remains rooted.

DROID 2 Receiving Minor Update, Now Allows for User Initiation
On 08.21.10, In News, by Kellex
Share3
If you own a Droid 2, you should be receiving a minor update over the next couple of days and in fact, there is a pretty good chance that you have already been prompted to install it. The update, although minor, does fix a couple of things which will enhance your D2 experience…
Improvements:
+ Enabled text and picture message scrolling.
+ Streamlined set up of Visual Voice Mail feature.
+ Improved contact sync with Corporate Exchange categories
and groups.
+ View accurate contact pictures when reviewing Recent Call Log.
On a related note, it looks like Verizon may be allowing user initiated updates for their new Droid family member. If you check out their update installation instructions, there are now 2 types of software loading: user initiated and server initiated. We also just received this shot which shows that manual updates could start as early as last night, and OTA server initiated updates will start on the 24th if users have not already gone through the process…
After the update you will be running version 2.2.20.en.us.
Via: Verizon Wireless
Cheers Mitch and Shawn!
2.2.20 is root-able, so if you really want it you can do the sbf flash and grab the update before rooting. I don't think we'll be seeing any custom updates for the D2. Let's just thank our lucky stars the sbf showed up.

Darn, wish I knew that before I factory resetted my phone. Do you know this for a fact?
Yes a factory reset is necessary...I just flashed my phone this morning with the sbf and I connected to verizon network but it would not connect to any data connection 3g or 1x, nothing so a factory reset took place and it works almost better than before for some reason lol..my internet connection seems to be more stable and reception is a little better and I've done* 22899 before I rooted and flashed back and this time around its just working better idk..but back to the topic at hand if u* 22899 it will connect you to verizon network but no 3g or anything

Did you try *228? Maybe might have been a better way to go. But thank you for trying.
If you can't update or anything flash an sbf. Isn't hard.
If you are rooted and need to sbf, I used the droid bootstrap recovery to wipe my cache and data, then flashed the sbf from the bootloader (turn the phone all the way off, and hold the up arrow as you power on). Made it a lot easier, and fixed all the errors I was having
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
I recently rooted my phone, and it worked perfectly fine after that, but a few hours later, I noticed that the play store would not connect, even with a stable connection. Noticing this I thought to resync my account, however I was prompted with a notice saying "could not connect to Google servers, try again later." After getting this, I checked online for solutions, most of them being for me to download ES file explorer and delete a host file, however while trying to get the file explorer apk, I was told it wouldn't install. I finally resorted to a factory reset and I still have the same problem, and I can't get my backup data since I can't log into google accounts. Can someone help me?

Hi everyone,
Could really use your help. I tried updating my phone to Lineage OS and post update, my phone's data connection stopped working. I've tried flashing different firmwares to see if it fixes the problem and it didn't. I went back to my old backup, and the problem continues. I can't access any data connection (no phone, or text either).
Any idea on what could have caused the problem. My steps were basically:
Backed up old Sultan 12.1 Rom
Installed Lineage using TWRP 2.8.7.0
Installed latest Gapps mini
Installed the bacon_firmware_update_2015_05-15_DI.3.0.c6-00241.zip
And data problems began
Now i've tried redoing the steps with the latest recovery and it doesn't change anything. And as previously mentioned, I'm having data connection problems in my old backup as well

Yup, I reverted back to my old backup and no flashing of firmware, and it's still messed up.
Found out that my IMEI isn't showing up so that could be the problem. Went through "the entire internet" and found some fixes, trying them now to see if I can get something to work.
Edit: I flashed to CM13.1 stock. But my IMEI is still not showing up. No idea what to do next. My phone connects to the network, but doesn't let me do anything considering it can't find an IMEI.

Are you talking about flashing stock from the thread you linked above? I'm not on the stock firmware from the fix above, I'm on stoch CM13.1.2.
Should I go back to stock CM11 from the fix above? Or can I just extract the sbl1 file from the package and flash it in fastboot?
Okay, I finally got my IMEI back using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-efs-partitions-how-to-lost-t3307793, and flashing stock oxygen OS through their recovery rather than TWRP.
But now, although it reads my sim, my phone doesn't connect to the internet, and when it does, it doesn't connect to 4g. I still can't use data services despite having the baseband and IMEI fixed. So now what are the next steps? Could my hardware be broken?

I've tried Lineage and now Sultans CM13, but still no data man. Just my sim stuff is acting weird, and i know my sim is fine. I'm switching carriers and ordered a new sim. I'm hoping somehow changing carriers helps, otherwise I'm **** out of luck.
Edit: Ok, so on Sultan's CM13 I've finally got the data working, but it only works when its on H+ (4g) otherwise no internet/voice/ text. So is there a fix this?

4G is Lte not H+(3G).
Yeah maybe OPO doesn't support the band your carrier uses for data.

Nope, not the case as I've been using the phone for the last 2 years. I read up that the switch between H+ and 3g happens because the carrier only sends data through H+ not 3g, so it happens to every phone, not just the OPO. But now my problem is, I can't send texts over 3g.
I'm going to wait and see what happens when I get a new carrier's sim.

Thanks for the help guys, I think in this case it was more of a carrier problem. I learned that Wind has been updating their infrastructure causing some network problems. Couple that with a finnicky OPO and you get headaches.
My new carrier seems to be working better (but I've only had the new sim for an hour). Going to do a full day test and see what happens.
Thanks again.
I've had the phone for about a week. Everything worked fine for the first several days, then the camera wouldn't load in the FB Messenger app (I get a white screen with white text that says the camera may be in use by another app, etc.). Then yesterday the camera app on the phone itself wouldn't load, and oddly after failing, the icon for the camera app disappeared from the desktop. I factory reset the phone and set up as new, and still have the FB Messenger problem, but the phone camera app works fine.
Anyone else experiencing anything like this? What are the chances it is a hardware issue and I should just swap out the phone?
Thanks!
Did you restore any apps or data? Maybe from Google backup and restore?
What firmware and region are you on?
I might reflash the same full firmware with firmware finder application.
I did not - set up as new phone, turned off "restore settings". It isn't rooted, so no messing with firmware.

I have a s20 ultra, the original OS\firmware was for Brazil.
I flashed a new original ILO CSC firmware from sam-mobile, used patched odin and changed csc to ILO with SamFw_FRP_Tool
After flashing I added and logged in to my google account and samsung account on the phone.
Now the Play Store is missing.
It does not show in the APPS (at settings) or as an available google service for the device.
what can I do?

Tried that already.
Is says installed when finished and there you can choose OPEN.
But nothing opens and it's like nothing changed.
PS: The option "reset" in settings is also missing.
Took the phone to a local service lab and they worked on it for 2 days already but could not fix the problem. still they are optimistic.
They say that probably something went wrong with the flashing process, but i suspect that it might be something to do with EDM policy, software is installed on the phone but can not be accessed.
I hope the service lab will fix it.

Tried to wipe cache partition.
What I did notice, is that in my phone's recovery mode, there is no "wipe data\factory reset" line.
I wish I did a nandroid backup before the update, but i said to myself that this is a new phone and i have no data on it, so there's nothing to lose.
I suspect that only if someone could contribute such a backup of his own original nand, it might fix the problem.
But i am not sure if it is indeed possible to go back to an older boot loader this way.

An older firmware will probably have a lower binary version and Samsung has things in place to prevent flashing a lower binary. Downgrade isn't possible unless the downgraded firmware has a binary that is equal to the binary of the currently installed firmware.
You dont need playstore, get aurorastore instead, or fdroid.

S20 Ultra with official firmware should have play store.
If it is missing then it was probably a problem with the flash, or wrong firmware or security, no reason to use a play store alternative, all reason for fixing the base problem.
I am trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.

Updating...
I found out what was wrong with my phone.
I was sold a phone which is a demonstration managed by knox phone.
Knot would not let the phone have Play Store or the ability to reset it.
This is something that can not be changed unless you root the phone and kill knox.
Knox at first start sends the IEMI of the phone to the server, and since the IEMI is on a list , knot controls it. no way to remove the IMEI from the list since it's in samsung's servers not on the personal device.
I returned the phone to the seller today and received a refund.
