I used to own a Droid RAZR M and currently own a Droid 4. I love the keyboard but I want something that doesn't have a carrier logo (I currently live in Australia, there is no Verizon here) and lacks physical keys (I use Sailfish OS)
I was wondering, how does the Photon Q compare to the RAZR M and Droid 4 in terms of battery life? It looks as if they just gutted a RAZR M and put it in a revamped Droid 4, which sounds perfect to me accept that the battery is only 1775mAh or around that as compared to the RAZR M's 2100mAh. I am not too worried about battery lasting me the day, I was at ~50-70% at the end of a long day of cavestory and web browsing on my RAZR M with Sailfish OS, and my Droid 4 gets down to about 30-40% (but I blame alien dalvik leaching the battery) I was just curious to hear from people who have owned a Photon Q and a RAZR M and/or Droid 4.
EDIT: I have owned all three of these Phones, and here is my ranking of Battery Life:
RAZR M - 1st
Photon Q - 2nd
Droid 4 -3rd
Photon Q is meh on android, AMAZING on Sailfish OS (as with most devices). CM11 and CM10.1 are the only ones I have used so far on Photon Q, I plan on trying out CM12.1 and LOS 13 soon. Definitely Not 14.1 because I remember the battery life on that being pretty bad on RAZR M.

Im switching from a verizon galaxy s3 to the droid razr maxx hd. I can't seem to even make it half a day without my battery dying and the 3300 mAh battery on the maxx looks very attractive along with the onscreen buttons and industrial design. Currently the only negatives i have been able to find are less RAM and the camera but i don't really take many pictures. I just need to know what others that may have this device have to say about it. And are all of the ROMs that are made for the razr hd compatible with the maxx version of the device.
Thank you
Yes. The only differences between the RAZR HD and MAXX HD are battery size and internal storage. They both run the exact same hardware and software.

I am loving my MAXX HD. I have not had any issues with it. After a 12hr day at work, I get home usually with about 50% battery life.

yes thats definitely what i need! how is the 1 gb of ram on there? im going to be sacrificing a gig for better battery life but honestly it seems worth it. My s3 dies in about 12 hours of moderate usage with power saver on.
you won't notice the difference in ram unless u run 15+ apps in the background at a time. The UI speed on the razr is way faster, like loading the dialer, inbox, etc. Battery life will easily last 1-2 days, charge every night and it will never die on u
I got a great deal for a Razr HD off of Craigslist for 150. But I'm coming from the OG Razr Maxx and would really like a Maxx HD. I was thinking about flipping the Razr HD back on CL for 400 and using that to get a Maxx HD off of Ebay (they're going 400-600 there).
Coming from the OG Razr Maxx I dont think I can go back to reg battery life again (OG Razr was horrible). With that being said though the Razr HD does have a 2500 mah battery....which isnt that bad, but it is more power to push. So would it be comparable to the OG Razr, or is it a bit better?
The Razr HD is a major upgrade from the OG, I have both. I would make sure the HD you snatched up for 150 has a clean esn before selling it on eBay. If it does the I would follow your plan. Good luck!

Yea I always check ESN....
But the Razr HD battery is decent?
I just switched from a Razr Maxx to a regular Razr HD. Razr Maxx < Razr HD < Razr HD Maxx.
i was leary at first but the HD has a 2500 ma battery. Not quite the Maxx.
After several days of heavy use my HD is much better on battery than my Maxx ever was.

Can anyone else confirm the Razr HD battery is better than the OG Razr Maxx? Not that I think your lying....just hard to believe!

I can't speak to that person's experience, but all reviews I've seen on the three phones tell me that's just not true. Various tests all show the best stock battery life in the business is the Razr Maxx, followed by the Razr Maxx HD. After that, the Razr HD compares in battery life with the iphone 5 (my wife has it, and it definitely does very well there). Just do searches on google for the various tests, like the pcmag laptop test.

The processor is a generation newer Qualcomm Snapdragon vs TI OMAP; with better power management.
The LTE processing is not completely separate like the BIONIC and OG Razr.
I'm at 5 hours and 38m on the battery with 79% left.
My Maxx would be at 65% best case after that amount of time.
It's architecture and software that gets the better battery performance.
I wouldn't trade the battery life on my HD for the OG Razr Maxx that I owned up until a few days ago.
YMMV but the Razr HD "for me" has better battery performance than the OG Razr Maxx
I went 52.5 hours without plugging my phone in, this is the RAZR HD (not MAXX) to test how long it would last until it got to less than 1%. And this wasn't just having the phone sit on the shelf - made calls, texted, went online, played games. It has a 2,500 mAh battery, the iPhone 5 has 1,400. There is no comparison with the iPhone 5. The RAZR HD has better battery life than the original RAZR MAXX, but the RAZR MAXX HD is just plain ridiculous with it's 3,300 mAh battery. If I put my phone on the dresser when I go to bed, when I wake up, it's still at 100% or maybe 99%.
Razr HD Battery is just crazy

This is the same thing I'm getting. My Maxx would be at 50% at the end of the day. My Razr HD just doesn't die. I have yet to end the day with less than 60% over the last week. I have intentionally left it off the charger longer than I ever left my Maxx off the charger to see how the battery does. There is really no comparison, the HD is much more efficient on the battery than the OG Maxx. I can't imagine what the Maxx HD must be like.

I just got the HD MAXX last night. I'm sitting at 5 hours 30 min off battery with 90 percent left. On screen time is 45 minutes.
I'm absolutely loving this phone. I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus that is plagued with signal issues, which also affect battery life. I had to carry a spare battery around with me everywhere I went.
what has better battery life?
the droid razr HD
or
the droid razr maxx (original)
the reason im asking is because the razr hd is running a newer processor which is better for power consumption, where the maxx is running a less efficient processor.
the razr hd battery is 2500 mah
and the razr maxx is 3300 mah
now would the newer processor make that much of a difference on battery life?
there is a poll up top, vote for device with best battery life please.
and I will give thanks to detailed comments!
Cnet did a test, the Razr Maxx HD has 30 min less battery life then the original maxx. Soo Razr HD vs Og maxx, maxx will win night and day. Get the maxx HD its the best of the options. Heres a list of reviews about the various razr series devices available recently or currently. All include battery testing times.

I'm finally confident that my Droid Maxx battery life is not on par with the other users here and various other forums. I've owned the Razr Maxx, Maxx HD and finally this Droid Maxx, and I'm contemplating going back to the Maxx HD. The only reason I have the phone is for battery, and in the past, I could go a full day and not hit 50%. These days, I'm at 30-40% on a minimal use, non work day. That's not the battery life I've come to expect, nor is it the battery life I intended when I paid full on-contract price!
I wanted to put this out there in case others had concern over their battery life, and have done factory resets, etc. You're not alone! :fingers-crossed:

In the battery stats; what is sucking most of the battery for you?
I get 30-40% after extremely heavy use for 12 hours. That's watching 2 movies 3-4 hours surfing internet email 1-2 hrs. of gaming. with wifi sync and gps on the whole time. So i would say you have something sucking your battery.
I bet they accidentally put the ultra battery in your maxx

So it looks like it is finally that time for yet another new addition to Verizon's infamous DROID series, the DROID "Turbo" Maxx! So if you're someone who was somewhat disappointed by the Moto X's battery life and still want to keep that phones key features, as well as it's turbo charge (allowing you to get 8hrs of battery in just 15minutes), be sure to check out what you can expect!
Okay seems kind of cool but how in the hell is this thing supposed to charge 8hrs worth of battery in just 15 minutes? Honestly that'd be really awesome but I just don't see how that would happen. I gave the video a quick skim-thru, but is there like an announcement video or something where this is explained in-depth? Seems kinda crazy to me.
