Are there ROMs (for phones) with no cellular data? - General Questions and Answers

As in, the ROM makes the phone into a tiny lil tablet? I can't be the only one who wants to use my old phone this way, as opposed to installing a regular ROM and keeping the device in airplane mode all the time. It seems like it would optimize the device to have no "telephony" services trying to run, but I could be wrong.
I did try googling "ROM with no cellular data" but I'm not sure what other, more specific search terms to try.
I want something like this for my old Galaxy S4, jfltespr, btw.

New Device Suggestion

Hello, dear community. I am not quite sure I am posting in the correct subforum, but please forgive me if I m doing this wrong. So I love my smartphone. I used to have a One Plus One, which at some point stoped reading the sim card, so I was forced to find a replacement. While searching I stumbled uppon LG v10. I remember I really liked this phone when it came out and I was dreaming of purchasing it, so I did. I found it almost new for $200 which seemed to be too good to be true. I loved certain aspects of the phone, but I grew to hate some others. First of all, it was a nightmare to root and put custom stuff on it. Then for some reason, it was a very slow phone, full of lag most of the times. Anyways, a couple of months after the purchase, the phone just died. It entered a boot loop state and now I can't even enter TWRP on it, so I've decided to move on and search for another device. Could you suggest to me any device?
What I put more weight on my devices are:
1. Easy root, good XDA community with custom roms. I love having the latest version of Android even if it has some bugs.
2. Good camera. I guess everyone likes that. I am a photographer and I like to push the limits of my device when it comes to photography.
3. A good bonus would be to be water resistant ip67 would do the job.
4. Budget not more than $400 (used or new)
5. A big battery would be a +
6. 1080p screen resolution is just fine for me.
Thanks in advance,
Theo

Removing Chrome means browser won't work on Samsung s8

Hi
I've used a rooted phone for years in the past but not for the last phone that I had, so been away from rooted for over a year.... Now I have a Samsung S8 which has been rooted professionally for me... So I use Titanium Backup to freeze those annoying apps I don't want... I backed up all apps and wanted to see what would happen if I removed Chrome. Turns out if I do it this, I'm unable to use my Dolphin Browser...Just can't connect to the Internet.. So does this mean that now with these current phones all apps that are pre installed are inextricably linked to my chosen apps and the usage of the phone?
Hope this makes sense to somebody! If there is more information on what I can and can't remove I'd be grateful.. I did have a look around and couldn't find this specific question.
Thank you in advance for any help!

Best phone for a flashaholic?

Using a op5t as my daily driver, untouched running oreo. However over the past few years I've put many a device in hospital and don't wanna do it to my main phone as I need it working without bugs or issues.
Looking for options for a additional phone I can mess around with that has plenty of support still in XDA, obvs a 2nd hand nexus 6p would be amazing but the ones I'm seeing on eBay are a bit battered, I'd love to buy a brand new phone for my addiction. I honestly miss it all and just want a good machine to play around with?
Moto? Samsung? What would you go with? Without breaking the bank?
Thanks in advance.

Need help choosing next phone. Would like to be able to tether hotspot for free

Hey guys, I have been out of the modding scene since Samsung started locking the battery in the phone. My current G7E+ is falling apart and I need something new. I went to browse on AT&T devices but I'm pretty overwhelmed with choices, and have no idea which of these devices are rootable/moddable, or if unlocking tethering for free is still even an option.
Mandatory things:
unlock free hotspot tethering
badass camera
big screen
big battery
Any advice? Thanks.

Suggest a simple Android phone

My Mom has had great use out of her old Lumia 430 but it is really is long in the tooth and I would rather she uses an Android device as I am far more familiar with that OS than Windows.
She just uses the phone for browsing, email, whatsapp and Facebook. So really don't need lots of RAM.
She likes the 4" screen size but she is well into her 80's and I am sure she would see a 5" screen much easier.
The phone needs to unlocked as she uses GSM in another country.
I am reluctant to get a phone that's too old as she will start running into battery issues.
I have looked at Swappa and see there are some unused Galaxy S5's for about $190.
What else should I be looking at that may cost less than $190??
Thanks.
