Don't ask for ETA. It will be released when it is ready (and that will be "soon").
The password does not seem to do anything when set. I can go right into recovery without it asking for a password.

In terms of what is visible to the user, for one, it officially supports both Treble and non-Treble. As for the rest, you will get a changelog with the next release.
Would you say there is backward compatibility with TWRP ? Redwolf seems to have created some problem that keeps me from restoring my TWRP backups - even with TWRP without error 70 and 255. Also was having a big problem with Redwolf rebooting the phone in the middle of a restore. It has done this reboot during restore even on several different backups. It can't seem to complete a restore without rebooting. Using those same backups I was able to complete a restore with TWRP and get booted up although I now have no Wifi, FM radio or fingerprint settings.
Would OrangeFox be compatible with Redwolf more than it is with TWRP or ?

One more question if this makes sense : is the fstab in OrangeFox more like TWRP or Redwolf?

We are aiming to achieve as much compatibility with TWRP as is possible (hopefully, full compatibility). This is work-in-progress, but we are well on the way. Watch this space!

The kernel code includes code for ebbg, which means that it should be okay. However, we have not personally tested it on ebbg displays, so we cannot give you a definite answer.

And remember to don't delete the 'Fox' folder inside your internal storage, otherwise you will be unable to use the Community Scripts feature.
In the next update I will push those files inside the recovery image and it will be again a flashable image file and not a flashable zip.

Don't be dumb he is asking that will it wipe any data if he installs it. Why would data will be wiped if you install a custom recovery? Only data erases when unlocking bootloader.

I tried to push them inside the recovery image file but it seems that it is not possible on nougat kernel. All the recoveries of karate are based on nougat kernel so I can't get any Oreo kernel source. Waiting for any Oreo kernel based recovery for our karate. If we get it, many more awesome recoveries are available to port to our device.

If you already got data and cache in f2fs and don't need to format but wipe, you can use this though.
Your partitions will at least stay in f2fs and support is planned for the next release.

One of the testers has done that successfully.
So which one should I flash? This one or peters one? any differences between them?

That question is not for this thread.
Explanation: I can't comment on another recovery - and I don't think that this is the place for such commentary anyway.

Oh Ok. Didn't want to offend or anything. Was just curious if there are any differences. Thanks anyway.

I'll have to try it!
Hi, I am downloading the file to flash, but want to ask some details first.
How often is there a update for this recovery? And is it easy to switch back from this to the official TWRP, if I decided after trying that I prefer the other one?

It does, I tested with PE 10
Finally, it's here! I waited for this official release for too longggggg.

I absolutely love this, thanks very much. I really hope this can be maintained going forward because I don't think there'll ever be an official version for the A8.
Cheers

I would guess we use same dt.
Unofficial OrangeFox, which is around for A750, works fine. Unfortunately we can't quote it, use for rooting guides (current posted are not relevant anymore), give links, etc., which makes A7 2018 an abandoned device...
Let's contact in Tele, I can promise I will do my best to make such project alive:good:
Thx a lot for Ur interesting in that case
Wow! Many thanks for working on this and allowing us users to install and use it. A question tho. Does this recovery support GSI ROMs??

Wrong thread I guess, you should go in your device's subforum or on OrangeFox Recovery Project website if you want to check, maybe there is an official support there.
the link is unfortunately dead...
Someone has a link to the file that works because it doesn't work
