Main question... What will happen if I install system.img?
Will I lose all data? Is Huawei Backup apk good to backup all files? Or what is easiest method?

Hi Guys
Everytime when I flashing my sgs I think: What should i backup? and what from this backups can i restore with the new ROM?
- I know to backup my Apps (without data) and restore this with titanium
-But what is with my Android-data folder ? I only copy and paste it with a Explorer Manager like Super Manager?
-And my google calender? (only want to backup it once before flashing)
-where do the phone saves "save-files" from games? extra folders? or in the current ROM?
- I read sometimes to make a nandroid backup in CWM. But there stands nothing with "Nandroid backup"..
Thx Guy for helping !

A Nandroid Backup is made After installing a Custom Recovery on a Rooted phone!
If you install a app called Rom Manager from the market, you can Flash a Recovery by selecting the option in the app that say "Flash Clockwork Recovery"
From there you can Create what's called a Nandroid Backup, which Will basically save your whole phone in a backup file on your Sdcard... PM me if you need more Help!
ok thx thx for answering.

im trying to extract a few apks from an image file i previously backed up. the problem is when i use unyaffs, it states broken image file. nandroid browser doesnt open the img files either. Does anyone know how i can repair the image files or get info of the apks installed?
Titanium backup pro allows you to pull data as well as apk's from a backup

I didn't have much luck in Windows but Nandroid Manager (sorry I can't post Playstore links I'm a noob) allows you to look inside Nandroid backups (including TWRP 2.5 backups which don't work with Titanium Backup, so far at least). I was able to look inside the compressed data.ext4 and extract individual files. If your backup is compressed it will take a little bit of time, so keep that in mind.
Actually, I'm not trying to look inside Nandroid backups but rather the system.img from this:

As for the OTA update, it will fail unless the stock apk's are what came with the ROM instead of the most current version from Google Play Store.

Gotcha, sorry I misunderstood. Why don't you create a backup and then just restore your system to complete using the Droid Razr HD Utility so you can get the new radio drivers, etc. and then just restore your backup?
That's a good idea but wouldn't restoring Droid RAZR HD Utility and then restoring the nandroid backup just overwrite all the apk's with the ones from my backup again?
Actually the last time before I ran Droid RAZR HD, I did create a nandroidbackup using CWM but I remember while I did it in May, it had a date/timestamp for April so I'm worried if I did a nandroidbackup, it will just overwrite that one as it's not using the current date/time for some reason. Does nandroidbackup backup the radio as well because I did modify that to work with AT&T/T-Mobile even though I use Verizon Wireless.
DO, ANYONE (AS A NOOB) NEEDS SOME SYSTEM OR USER INSTALLED .APKS from CWM (clockwork mod) Backups? It would be easy to get them just by Re-installing the Backups. But in some Cases we don’t want to restore the whole system backup instead of SOME APPS or DATA Only.
So Here’s the Tutorial to Extract the .APKs or DATAs From the Backups which is in the .tar format. (CWM RECOVERY only.) found By ME. (I don’t know if anyone Other than me have already found this Method. Coz I Didn’t find any.)

The format of the backups is not complex, it's an apk and a SQLite db containing an APK info table, file info table, and file contents table with blobs. It should be trivial to extract the contents from the db and restore the backups on any ROM.
Is there an existing tool out there to do it? If not, I can do it manually but that's rather tedious. It's probably beyond my skill to write something to do it automatically.

App data from Tasker, that's the one thing I forgot to backup with a method other than Huawei's backup. Everything else I use is easily recreated, but Tasker is not.
