I faced a problem with phone restarting after enabling Secure Folder. Searching for it didn't give me any results, so thought of sharing here.
Summary:
After disabling "com.dsi.ant.server", if I uninstall "Secure Folder" and then install it again, phone was rebooting every 1 minute. Temporary work around was to uninstall "Secure Folder". Permanent solution was to disable "com.dsi.ant.server" inside "Secure Folder" as well.
Detailed:
I had disabled lot of packages based on the below two posts using the adb method.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...are-thread-t3669009/post73894621#post73894621

Everything ran properly for nearly a month. A few days ago, I uninstalled Secure Folder. When I installed Secure Folder again (from Settings menu), phone started rebooting every 1 minute. If I uninstall Secure Folder (from Secure Folder settings), it stopped rebooting. After quiet a few factory resets, I narrowed it down to the "com.dsi.ant.server" package. If I disable this with "pm uninstall --user 0 com.dsi.ant.server", phone will start rebooting. If Secure Folder is already installed when the package was disabled, there is no issue. The reboot starts only if you install Secure Folder after disabling this package.
Then I wanted to see if I could disable these for Secure Folder. Ran the below commands and it solved the reboot issue.
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.sample.acquirechannels
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.service.socket
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.server

To get the user id for Secure Folder user (150 in my case), I used "adb shell dumpsys user".

Well, I don't type very fast lol, but I was able to get adb shell fired off, and pre-typing out the user 150 commands, get half of the packages out between reboots, and the second half out on the second. I was pretty stoked that it worked! Great work, by the way.
That being said I don't know if reinstalling secure folder will allow the installation of the Ant packages again, but I'm about to install Secure Folder again, because my scary ass uninstalled it. I have a lot of paid apps I won't be able to get again, so I'll pull those apks before I do it. At least I know what to do if it does it again. Once again, thanks for this, I'd never have gotten it down to that.
Oh and as you can see I tried to enable "com.dsi.ant.server" before I started on the disabling of user 150. Not my best idea, but at this point I was getting pretty perturbed lol.

I am not exactly sure of the purpose of 'ant' package. I have been using my phone for the last several months with it disabled for both regular and secure folder users. Never faced any issues, and I am not sure if I am missing any functionality. But once a package is disabled, I think the only way to restore it is to do a factory reset.
If I remember correctly, when we uninstall and install secure folder, it will go into the reboot loop. So we will have to disable the 'ant' packages for the secure folder user once again. Also, I think when we reinstall secure folder, it creates a new user. For me, the user id had changed from '150' to '151'.
The below commands can be saved as a ".bat" file and can be used to run these commands together, hopefully reducing the chances of a second reboot. It should be kept in the same directory as "adb.exe".
adb shell pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.sample.acquirechannels
adb shell pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.service.socket
adb shell pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
adb shell pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.server
pause

Also, these are the packages I disable. I am not sure if there is any benefit of disabling them for secure folder. I just do it all the time and never had any issues.
Do Not Remove
Removing the below causes Samsung account to disappear. Galaxy Apps and Secure Folder will no longer work.
pm uninstall --user 0 com.samsung.android.mobileservice //Samsung Experience Service
Click to collapse
Remove Carefully
Disabling these will cause Secure Folder reboot. So, disable these 4 for Secure Folder user also.
pm uninstall --user 0 com.dsi.ant.sample.acquirechannels
pm uninstall --user 0 com.dsi.ant.service.socket
pm uninstall --user 0 com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
pm uninstall --user 0 com.dsi.ant.server
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.sample.acquirechannels
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.service.socket
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
pm uninstall --user 150 com.dsi.ant.server

This saved me a reset! Thanks. I would never have guessed that package was the culprit.
I had Google Chrome and all 3 Microsoft Office apps preinstalled on my device so I removed them via adb but it seems like they've been added to secure folder by default so I had only removed them for user 0. This helped me find the user id of Secure Folder and uninstall those 4 apps from there as well on my new Note9. Thanks a lot!

You just saved my day, I had the same problem, I uninstalled com.dsi.ant.server with ADB, and since every 2/3 minutes, I got a soft reboot, just as the same ghost notification got pushed from secure folder to my notifications, except that I already had my secure folder configured. I followed what you did (adb shell pm uninstall etc), with the samed ID, and it worked, no more reboot ! Big heart on you. (for anyone here, that also works on Galaxy Note 9)
This should be pinned in a visible place and not only for S8. You saved the rest of my day. Thank you very much. I'm using S10.
I know this is an old thread, but this just saved my phone from constant reboots and I'm running on the latest (and final) firmware for the Galaxy S8+, I did numerous factory resets and nothing seemed to work.
This post should probably be pinned in the Galaxy S8 forums if other users can replicate it, because I couldn't use my phone for the past 4 days.
Also, for the app "Shelter" which uses Android's Work Profile, it has the same rebooting issue. The fix is the exact same process, but the user is 10:
adb shell
pm uninstall --user 10 com.dsi.ant.sample.acquirechannels
pm uninstall --user 10 com.dsi.ant.service.socket
pm uninstall --user 10 com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
pm uninstall --user 10 com.dsi.ant.server

The article linked in OP states:
But if something does go wrong, you can always perform a factory reset to bring things back to the way they were. Which is something else you should know – these uninstalled system applications can/will come back after a factory reset.
This is a good thing, however, as it means that these applications truly aren’t being uninstalled from the device, they are just being uninstalled for the current user (user 0 is the default/main user of the phone). That’s why, if you omit the “–user 0” and “-k” part of the command, the command won’t work. These two commands respectively specify that the system app will only be uninstalled for the current user (and not all users, which is something that requires root access) and that the cache/data of the system application will be preserved (which can’t be removed without root access). Therefore, even if you “uninstall” a system application using this method, you can still receive official OTA updates from your carrier or OEM.

If you were to delete Knox and then root, would it still get triggered by rooting?
Is this different from disabling the service or app with the use of a package disabler?

From my understanding of the pm command, there is unfortunately no counterpart to the uninstall command. So a factory reset is the only possible way to bring back the app. For me this is a good argument to use something like AdHell instead, as I can easily revert any modification.
But if you know exactly what to remove, this is a clean way. No additional apps involved

Yes, I think. I tried uninstall GMail using adb and then installing it thru the play store. It still functions as a system app though because if you still cannot uninstall it by just holding the icon and clicking uninstall.
Is anyone else here using AccuBattery?
If you haven't debloated yet, could you let us know your screen off drain % rate? I didn't measure before debloating, so I don't know if debloating actually did anything, but my phone is now only draining 2% after almost 10hrs of screen off.

I heard Adhell can cause some instability, random reboots, sometimes bootloop. Check the S8 channel on reddit.

Does anyone have a format or general info on how to pass all these commands via script?

Yes, that would be handy if someone knows how to script and can help give us non developers a simple guide to follow?
Uninstalled apps showing up as 'not installed' in system apps in Settings, is that normal?

I read DNS66 is a great adblocker which is light resource wise as well, anyone tried it?

Seriously? They are uninstalled (for that user). So what would you expect other than 'not installed' ?

There are still issues with note 8, however not with S8(+) I'm aware of. I just wanted to point out that re-enabling of an app would be possible that way.

I did some reading about the Interwebs and came up with this option for scripting. I tried to write this how to with a little basic understanding. I'm sure some of this is unnecessary and could be combined or skipped. This is executed from a Windows operating system.

Save this as uninstalllist.txt in your adb.exe directory
Connect your device
Settings > Developer Options - "On" > USB Debugging - "On"
Go to directory with adb.exe and open the command prompt
TYPE "adb devices" to make sure you're connected
C:\Users\me\Desktop\platform-tools-latest-windows\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
********************* device
The goal is to push the uninstalllist.txt file to your device. I pushed the file to a temp directory which I created.
FIRST, let's open adb shell and create a temp directory. The file system is Read-only, so the temp directory will need to be created in the sdcard directory.
C:\Users\me\Desktop\platform-tools-latest-windows\platform-tools>adb shell
:/ $ cd sdcard/
:/sdcard $mkdir temp
:/sdcard $ ls (this will list and you will see the 'temp' directory you just created)
:/sdcard $ exit (this is to exit the adb shell and go back to command prompt)
NEXT, push the 'uninstalllist.txt' file you created to the device. Be sure you are in the correct directory where 'adb.exe' AND 'uninstalllist.txt' files are located.
C:\Users\me\Desktop\platform-tools-latest-windows\platform-tools>adb push uninstalllist.txt /sdcard/temp
OUTPUT FROM COMMAND:
uninstalllist.txt: 1 file pushed. 0.2 MB/s (1288 bytes in 0.007s)
So far so good. Open the adb shell again and navigate to the temp directory. 'cat' stands for concatenate or in other words cat <filename> will print the contents of the file to your screen.
C:\Users\me\Desktop\platform-tools-latest-windows\platform-tools>adb shell
:/ $ cd /sdcard/temp/
:/sdcard/temp/ $ cat uninstalllist.txt (just to verify the contents of the file)
:/sdcard/temp/$ cat uninstalllist.txt | while read a; do pm uninstall -k --user 0 $a;done
This command passes the contents of the file 'uninstalllist.txt' to the command 'uninstall -k --user 0 " one line at a time. You will see progress on the screen. Good luck.
Hi,
I just wanted to share this. I was struggling for a long time how to get this working.
My general idea was to completly get rid of google on my P20Pro without loosing Huawei apps like Camera, and others (i know that i can install camera on other rom's).
Of course best idea is to install LineageOS, but it lacks some functionalities and still has some problems.
Important: I wanted to have ability to use google maps, WebView (important (more later)), Microsoft InTune (work apps).
I had no other idea with WebView, than to leave original google app. I heard that there is AOSP one, but i was not able to find it and get it running.
List of removed apps is only suited for MY needs. Please go through it before applying.
Prerequisites:
Unlocked Bootloader,
Magisk downloaded to sd,
MicroG downloaded,
De-Google script.
Backup created!
I've done it on clean install of Huawei official Rom, just after unlocking bootloader.
Steps:
Run clean rom for first time and get through welcome screens. (don't log in anywhere)
Enable developer mode.
Go to Bootloader and install TWRP.
Boot System, start ADP Shell and remove all bloatware, google, fb etc. List below.
Go to Recovery and execute remove_gapps_1.1.Kusz script. (attached) (it was based on This
Install Magisk and boot system, Magisk
Go to Recovery again and install MicroG-Patcher and MicroG, MicroG
Reboot, and configure MicroG.
Optional: If You need to have CompanyPortal or InTune to work - use this link and install Magisk Module. Works for me.
Be happy without google
Do TWRP backup and experiment
Code:
I'm not removing Huawei backup, and HiSuite - i'm using it to backup apps. Might be removed later.
adb shell commands.

I would need to do that again on clean system. Also, i'm now on beta, so it slightly differs from 8.1
But packages are pretty self-explanatory what is removed.

Unpack that zip, there is batch file inside system. It's called delete.sh. Edit it, it's pretty easy. Then pack again.
Just don't edit anything else

Generally, install App Inspector or Package Manager from Playstore, then you can see which package name corresponds to which app

Deleted, wrong thread
For me there was no need to install twrp because magisk and root is enough.. All the packages you uninstall with "pm uninstall" are just uninstalled for the current user (id 0) so if you need to reinstall it because some functionality is lost just reinstall with "cmd package install-existing PACKAGE_NAME". The problem i had was by uninstalling play services "com.google.android.gms" because i could not send or receive sms. But there is a fix, just install magisk module "microG installer revived" and sms are working again.
OOS ADB De-bloating List
Background:
Hello people, I've been back and forth unlocking / re-locking my boot loader and trying out basically everything on my OP6 since I got it a year back. I feel now that we have gotten OOS 10 with Android 10 on our devices there is no need to mess too much with rooting/unlocking, etc.
I would always root my devices to remove bloat or probably theme, but OOS 10 solves most of my theming needs with it's dark mode and customization, as for de-bloating I have found the below old but a very effective and simple method.
Requirements:
1. Windows / Linux PC.
2. Working ADB - Please set it up yourself, google is your friend
3. OP6/OP6T (Might work on other OOS devices too)
Instructions:
1. Connect the phone to the PC.
2. Open command prompt / Power Shell or terminal with admin privileges.
3. Type in the below, press ENTER and accept the prompt on your phone when it pops up.
Code:
adb devices
4. Next type in the follows and press ENTER.
Code:
adb shell
5. Next you can either copy paste the whole list or pick only those you want to remove, below is my full list, which includes most of the un-needed bloat from OnePlus and Google.

Note: I have removed many apps from Google and OnePlus which can be installed from the PlayStore or the apk can be found on apkmirror. Also this is a totally reversible method of debloating as it just uninstalls the apps for current user profile.
Ps. If you want to reverse the deleted app, check out the XDA Portal article linked below.
Credits:

2. @Tomatot- for his wonderful Tomatot Debloater, do check it out.
Hope the above helps those without root in maintaining a cleaner debloated phone.
Cheers !!

What is the impact on battery life for removing these apps?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
@Protopia01
I lost only 3% at night. It was previously around 8-10%. "Standby" is satisfactory, especially when battery life is off screen.

Does anyone know the package name for system update?
Work for open beta ?
does it improve battery life after removing these apps? If it improves battery how many extra SOT/Standby time you get?

The goal is to extend battery life anyway.
A few messages ago, I shared my own debloat code. The overnight loss of 0.3% / h I think this is pretty good value.
If you want, you can also take a look at other settings that I shared.

works on all oos. It does not matter whether you are in stable or beta rom.
thanks op 8h @ 28%
Great stuff. If we disable the apps instead of uninstalling them, then it may be possible to reenable them later though the menu system.
I don't seem to see Zen Mode or Digital Wellbeing in your list? That's certainly some worthless garbage that I need to get rid of. Thanks
Edit:
I see you do have Zen Mode in the list (last one). I didn't know they code named it "Brick Mode".

Oh yes, and I'd like to get rid of that OnePlus Membership too

no, you just have to do the code you wrote. It is enough to do the codes starting with "pm" once.

Ive actually gained about 100-200mb free ram, and I intend to post it all when I finish.
In this script, there is a package that results in "emergency calls only" and despite appearing to register on mobile network (even manually, operator wont stick), it doesn't. Does anyone know the culprit? (Not every app here is on the phone btw, but its defintely one of these packages. Ill eventually find it, just wondering if anyone might be able to help speed it up)

Okay I removed about 70 packages and have been testing various features and cant find anything significant missing. Easily gained 300-400mb average according to device care widget. This is bloatware pulled from a few other Samsung debloat scripts, nothing was a32 specific.
PS I AM ROOTED WITH XAA rom installed. Sorry for the mess, this is really only for those that are willing to test and BACK UP FIRST. I know there is a ton more, but this is a significant memory gain that I notice in Dolphin emulator for example.
This is just for testing rn (ill remove this part after days with no problems). Ill pull more device specific packages later on, I just figure the memory gain is good enough to post this now. If you use this backup with twrp first.

also removed with veez21 magisk debloater script (in magisk store):
-fmm =find my mobile
-beaconmanager =smartthings
-velvet =google search (if you dont use google search app, just make a shortcut to webpage on homescreen)
*and Galaxy themes
.
reinstalled "link to windows" apk (SAMSUNG APK, not "Your phone" from store. Search "Samsung link to Windows" apk on Google. Reintegrates into system in connections settings, not sure what removed it but would really love to know!), reinstalled Samsung device care from play store (nice widget)
replace honeyboard ime with multilingo w eng plugin (good keyboard with little mem usage), or whatever ime you want. RENAME, dont remove HONEYBOARD APK! Use twrp terminal to rename if you need it back! (Samsung initial setup when you factory reset, etc looks for Samsung keyboard ie Honeyboard)
+300-400 mb more free easy. Measure before and after with device care widget and see.
Any suggestions, additions, anything would be appreciated!
*and yeah mileage will vary if you keep velvet and honeyboard, they are memory hogs.
-12/29 still running this TEST debloat no issues.
Before you go hog wild nuts... first see which are even being loaded if unused. Target loading apks only if unsure if they should be disabled.
Understand what you are blocking and all it's dependencies.
If in doubt, leave it alone or test just that one.
If you go too nuts you will lose many of the features that make Samsung IU unique.
Copying other's lists means you can repeat their mistakes and at the best it's not customized for your unique needs. Don't. You're the one who will need to troubleshoot your demon child when it turns on you... and it will. First hand knowledge helps finding the issue(s) much easier.
In other words it takes time and thought to optimize these devices right... no free rides.
OTA updates and Google backup Transport are two of the first I kill with great prejudice
I have spent hours going through each individual apk to see its dependencies and what it does on this phone. It is not my first debloat by a long shot.
I have restored and made incremental backups about 20 times today, and have 5 of them on my PC now just in case. The list above is actually reformatted for a post and are actually my notes. It was filled with apks that werent there etc... thats not the case anymore, each apk there is on this phone. I cant find anything missing and I like functionality.
Go ahead and try it. Try right now putting the Device care widget on your homescreen and cleaning. Do it a few times to get a good "low" end memory usage estimate. Im at 1.6gb average, sometimes down to 1.5gb. It STAYS on 1.7gb where it used to stay on 2.2 before!
There is a _clear_ difference in game performance. My example is a Wii Rom called Xenoblade (with Dolphin MMJR2 build). It used to have a lot of audio\video chop as it loaded and cached shaders... Its virtually gone now. Save states in the same exact spot.
*here is a list of what I weeded out and didnt remove (thanks again!). Some things are fonts etc that just arent worth it at this point, but dont remove any of this (some can be just not worth it imo):

Got my own list which I still modify even after 2 years. My list imposes limitations but I'm aware of them... I hope.
For many Samsung apks especially system apks very little info exists. When the feature you never knew existed fails to function, you won't notice it's absence. Worse the consequences of it's failure may be hidden because dependencies.
With Android 10 Samsung added dozens of new system apks and most of those shouldn't be touched.
Lol, is it a glitch, malware or something you shouldn't have disabled
Got one I'm working on now probably because an app is firewall blocked it won't create a backup file. Fortunately in my case I can easily toggle any or all blocked packages back on to troubleshoot if needed.
Not so easy to do with an adb edit... so there's that.
Okay after a ton of testing and just daily use, I landed on a solid debloat. Nothing important is removed as far as I can tell. Face ID and fingerprint working, Camera, Location, no bugs or crashes or missing links or anything. Setting does have a few text links removed, they were primarily to Samsung stuff, much of which is now gone (some has to stay for functionality). Gameboost launcher is gone, but the service from my observation dramatically IMPROVES performance so I left it.
I did this first part with adb shell, and second part with debloat script in Magisk. Backup first as usual if you do this. I was gonna consolidate it into one big cut paste list, but the debloat script makes it easier to reinstall since it keeps backups and has a reinstall feature (didnt know this at first).
Kept things in like keyboard and link to windows. You can remove them easily with the debloat script. 98 packages, gain about 100-300 mb back given what Android is doing. Definite gains no question.
NOTE: You do lose "scan QR code" from the quick settings tiles, but camera seems to work fine scanning them still, as well as any app that calls camera api for scanning qr code. ROOT ONLY btw.
44 packages via adb shell:

Hey something in this is breaking link to windows, the app itself just says update and crashes. Do you happen to know which package it is? Otherwise its great.

Dependencies... and what really matters is functionality and battery life.
You should monitoring you SOT and off time power usage while on your killin' spree.
Don't go too nuts and KNOW what you're disabling!

I have been running a debloat for a couple months now with absolutely zero issues.
I can go as nuts as I want... Its called a TWRP backup lol.
*I honestly do not understand why you have even posted in this thread. Thanks for the derail noob.

Glad it's working for you. Go hog wild.
Why (since you axed)? Because when you block apps that you haven't a clue as to what they do unwanted results likely will follow.
Samsung's are feature packed phones will great UIs... unless you strip them bare
Many just sit there unless needed.
Why disable Samsung Files for example?
One size doesn't fit all and that's the big joke with these huge debloating lists. When something doesn't work then what do you do?
Was it something you disabled?
Bah-ha-ha-ha if you used an adb edit that's going to be fun assuming a disabled package is the cause. Even with an switch on the fly package disabler it can a be a pain to track down. Not knowing what your packages do makes it a guessing game. At least with a package disabler you can easily turn it completely off to troubleshoot or get back functionality.
Out of over 350 packages on my N10+ 70 or so are always blocked, about 14 more are sometimes blocked and some are on a easy widget on/off toggle. My list would not work well for some. There are specific ways to use it effectively as well that introduce many variables as to when and what gets enabled or disabled.
This was learned by using it interactively over time.
So yeah this type of shotgun approach folly amuses me. It's far from an easy one size fits all slam dunk... it's a learning curve. It's not black and white problem nor is the solution
Providing information of what each system apk does and its dependencies if any be far more useful than a huge kill list. A daunting task which is why few have done it.
Its APPMANAGER. Dont you get it? YOU ARE THE ONE BUTTING IN!
Seriously? What is your deal?
com.Microsoft.appmanager - do not remove this if you want link to windows
This is a DEPEDENCY for the intergrated "link to windows" service to update and function, and breaks it on the A32 5g.
Now Blackhawk... guess how I found that out? YEP. NOW GET LOST!
FFS that guy is working WITH the dev and myself for months. His list is not "random ****" like you imply. So STOP. GET IT? STOP. Boy I bet your a riot irl.
So assuming the list above from Finance remains solid this list (will include many duplicates) has been solid since I posted it. Get debloater from Magisk store for bottom part. Root only. TWRP backup if you use\try it.

replace honeyboard ime with multilingo w eng plugin (good keyboard with little mem usage), or whatever ime you want. RENAME, dont remove HONEYBOARD APK! Use twrp terminal to rename if you need it back! (Samsung initial setup when you factory reset, etc looks for Samsung keyboard ie Honeyboard)

AFAIK, if you uninstall honeyboard, the accesibility menu in configuration doesn't work, Don't you have that issue?

I dont know, I didnt test that. I didnt end up removing honeyboard in the end, however I have been running the debloat in the latest post I made since before I made it, no issues.
I have used the commands and have been able to debloat the Tab successfully without errors. use the commands carefully as it will keep minimum apps and remove all the services and other app
adb shell (this will connect your device after you confirmed the connection on your phone)
pm uninstall --user 0 package.name.example (this will uninstall the package for you (--user 0) and will delete the /data and /cache directories, app updates will get deleted. this command will free up some space)

AFAIK Android shell pm uninstall command cannot be used with system and/or system-priv apps: herefore Android must be rooted.
My experience is that bloatware by default by OEM mostly gets installed as system-priv apps.

Please go through this - https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
I have tried this on Lenovo TAB 3 710F and it works with it Android 5.0
You are highly recommended to CAREFULLY read posts.
works fine on system and system-priv apps. no root required. we don't care about occupied storage on /system it's read-only partition anyway. uninstall will disable package in that case. you can clear its app data beforehand, or suppress the -k flag to free up disk space on /data partition.
My understanding is that
1. bloatware are apps no one really needs to drive an Android phone so it usually safely can get deleted: these OEM-added apps simply waste system resources.
2. uninstall and disable are 2 totally different actions.
Also people say that even in a disabled state, these apps will still spy on you and collect information, and thereafter send them to the company that made them. But this data is significantly less compared to what it would have collected when it was enabled.
