Hi,
I updated my phone, rebooted, it was all started up, it was installing some play store app updates, then my phone powered off and I'm not able to power it on anymore... Not at all! Tried every combination of buttons to press for a long time. Really nothing helped. Phone is not charging... I'm having a bummer here... Somebody faced this? I can bring it to the shop and get a new one but... Yeah... I'd rather not...
Ow pls help me Xda!
Try vol down + power for more than 7 seconds
I tried everything... What solved it was my wireless charger. It had to charge a couple of hours to have only 12%. But I tried powering the phone back on and there he was!! Woop woop

Hi everyone.
I am very confused on my Htc Hd2. Yesteday I was trying to update the rom on my phone and it succeeded.. but when I tried to connect it to my pc it restarted and just startet vibrating constantly. Now everytime I put the battery in the phone, it just starts to vibrate constantly untill I take the battery out again. I can't do anything. it won't boot, won't enter bootloader, nothing! Is the phone dead or what? Could it be the battery?
Please help me!
Best regards
You ever get an answer to this? I just tried to flash the stock rom via the RUU to reset the phone state, and it failed and now I keep getting this also.
Anyone know?
I'm no expert on the HD2, but can you power it up with just the USB cable and no battery?

I installed the latest firmware update. The TF went into sleep mode and I was able to turn the screen back on, but not unlock it. I attempted to reboot but the touch screen is unresponsive so it is stuck on the confirmation screen.
I tried the data wipe, (power + volume down and then volume up) and it doesn't respond. Is there any other way I can force a reboot?
I did a forum search before posting this to see if my question had been asked and answered before. Nothing came up.
After doing a Google search, I saw this came up previously and found the answer in a previous thread on this board. I was able to force a reboot and it works fine which is great!
Hi
I have the same issue. How did you force the reboot ?
Cheers,
Xhulu.
It is either volume up and power or volume down and power. That will take you to a menu for wiping tablet data, you can press volume down to decline data wipe and it will just reboot tablet. Hope this helps.

To force a shutoff, hold the power button down for 10-12 seconds. Then after it shuts off, press the power button for a few seconds to boot it back up. No touch screen necessary.
Tried this, got device wiped but screen is still not responding.
Any other idea how to reset/restore screen sensitivity ?

Curious, how's your TF today?
left it to charge at least 10 hrs, even though it was around 90%, and it still no response!!!!
rebooted it and no luck at all!! Wiped data like 10 times!
i'm waiting for the battery to drain now, and we'll see if there is luck
Same thing happened to me. Asus wanted me to pay to ship it to their repair center so I just returned it and ordered a new one. Didn't cost me a dime...
I've had this phone for about 5 days now. When I got it the power button was pretty tough to push and it was hard to power on and power off the phone. Today I rooted and unlocked the bootloader. Phone rebooted fine. I powered it down to get into hboot and cannot get the phone to respond now. Will not power up, no charging light when I plug it in, nothing. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?

I had the same thing happen to me after flashing a S=off partition to my phone... Have you tried holding down the volume down buttom and power button to hard reset it? hold it up to 20 seconds. If you get no response and when you plug it into your comp and it tells you its installing some weird file then you are HARD BRICKED like i was, only thing i know of you can do at the moment is return it... they cant acces it so just tell them you went to bed after putting it on the charger and when you woke up it was completely dead, it wont respond to anything... worked for me, hope the best for ya...

Well I got it to power on now after leaving the phone sit for a while. The power button is still a pain in the butt to use though.
I was getting no response and my computer was telling me it was installing some weird file. But now it seems to be working like it should. Other than the bad power button.
In the Captivate forums (where I've been the past two years) I've seen people talk about the power button becoming more or less responsive with different ROMs. It seems impossible to me that this could be real, but enough experienced people talked about it that I wonder if there may be some explanation, like the power button isn't just an on/off device but maybe registers distance and/or pressure.
Or maybe everyone who talked about it was imagining it.
Hi gurus,
Updated the OTA patch today from ASUS. worked fine but got discharged while my son was playing with it. charged it and then tried to start it. It just won't boot. Starts vibrating which will not stop. Nothing on the screen. Pressing on Power button for about 10 seconds will stop it for a moment but will start again to vibrate after a short pause.
Tried the manual reset button, same result. Finally, pressed the power and Volume up button for 10 seconds which has atleast made it stop vibrating but is still dead. Tried to restart and same behaviour.
Has anyone seen this on infinity before? Have had it for 9 months and never been a problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Maybe a HDMI connection might let you see whats happening if its related to the display not working.
I am having the same problem. it vibrates..stop for 1 sec..then vibrates again and that's all..always black screen!! i think the problem (in my case) is my screen + digitizer coz my computer can recognize it as storage!
Yes my problem is the screen! i bought a micro HDMI to HDMI cable and everything works like a charm! The screen brightness works but no image at all!
Screenshots:http://db.tt/aBg7IXKd
Tried to charge it fully but to no avail.
still keeps just vibrating.
I work with leicesteruk (small world and why is he not using CROMi-X!?) and I think this is hard bricked! Device will not power on other than it vibrates once then on the second vibrate that normally signifies boot loader load it jus continuously vibrates and does nothing else. No screen, nothing.
We have tried various volume held down options and nothing works including reset hole and letting the battery drain. It still charges but just goes into continuously vibrating with no screen.
The only thing it will accept is power down plus volume down stops the vibrating after 20 secs if held down.
I have advised to RMA.
wow, that's extremely hard luck right after an update.
Was your tablet rooted, and were you using OTA root keeper?

No it was completely stock. Just a regular OTA. Note the device died whilst in use after the OTA had been applied the day before.

any solution for hard brick / apx mode only that doesn't involve replacing motherboard ?
Hey guys,
My phone shut off unexpectedly today and now won't turn back on. When I try to power it on I see the Google logo for a couple seconds and then it'll just shut off again. I tried holding the volume up/down buttons to access the bootloader, but right after I get to the screen it just restarts itself again.
Connecting to power (AC or USB) causes it to constantly reboot over and over, it just shows the Google logo for a couple seconds and then restarts again.
Any ideas on what I can do?

Provide more information for a starter - stock? unlocked bootloader? rooted? third party recovery? rom and if yes which?
If it's stock I'd RMA it.
If not what did you do immediately before the problem started?
try holding the power button for > 2 seconds which should turn it off completely, leave it on a wall charger for at least a couple of hours then turn it back on - I doubt it'll fix the problem but it's a simple thing to try...

Everything on it is stock, no ROM, not rooted. I had just taken it out of my pocket to check the time, put it back in my pocket and then felt it vibrate, took it back out to see it at the Google logo and haven't been able to get it started since. There was one or two times when it got past the Google logo and started to show the start up animation (the four colours bouncing around or whatever it is) but then it shut off again.
I tried holding the power button to completely turn it off, but plugging it into the wall charger just causes it to repeatedly attempt to boot like I mentioned earlier. I'll leave it for a while and hope for the best
Sounds like the mobo is bad. Most likely will have to rma it.

Do you have a case on? The case could be faulty.

Maybe not. Sounds like a stuck power button to me.
OP does the phone just endlessly repeat this cycle? If so it's rebooting itself do to a stuck power button. One other users already reported similar issues and his power button was indeed stuck. Mash the power button hard for a minute to see if you can unstick it.

You got it!
Thanks so much, really wasn't looking forward to waiting for weeks while the RMA went through. The button didn't appear to be stuck - it was still clicky - but after mashing it for a minute it started up normally and appears to be fine now.
Did you flash any ROMs or anything previously?

brother the issue is gone, as mentioned "sticky power button" was causing it. read the thread before posting. btw thanks for effort anyway... haha
:laugh::silly:
Hi all. Sorry to reopen an old thread (but xda suggested I check here before making my own thread).
I think we have the exact same problem with a Nexus 5. Unfortunately, bashing the power button doesn't seem to be helping (and makes me feel slightly silly .
Anyone know how much effort it would be to take it apart to get to the part that's stuck? Any good instructions?
Thanks.
Weird, I have the same issue starting a few hours ago. I updated to the Oct 17 beta of Cataclysm then a hour later it happened. But was told it sounds like the power button issue.
Took it apart, tried to fix it. If plugged in I can get into the bootloader, but then it reboots again. I've tried tapping it on a hard surface, and it gets seems like it almost fixes it because it'll connect to my laptop but then reboots again.
Could it be the battery? It was fully charged but then died as I was deleting hundreds of photo's in Dropbox to move photo's over from my phone because it was full.
I too am running into this same issue. My screen cracked so I replaced the digitizer with some success. In the process I damaged the battery and needed to replace it. When I got the new battery and replaced it my phone is now unusable.
When unplugged: I turn on the phone and it's running the ANDROID animation then turns off.
When plugged in: I turn on the phone, the ANDROID animation runs then the phone restarts and continues the process over and over again.
I then flashed the phone with Marshmallow and the same thing happens. Except now that I flashed it I get the Android icon with the spinning gear. So; I flashed it back to 5.1.1, but the same result.
Could I have physically damaged something inside or is it a battery issue? Thanks for any insight.
