Roaming APN T-MOBILE - HTC U11 Life Questions & Answers

I go to Canada three or four times a week for work and I've had difficulty sending and receiving MMS messages. Calls and SMS messages work fine. I've tried a few different APN's I've found but not much luck. I've come across this https://www.teamknowhow.com/discover/discover/tmobile-apn-settings and I've put in the Android APN and so far everything works. I have doubts it'll work in Canada but I'll try next week. Does anyone have any other suggestions or APN's that might work?

At&T MMS trouble

Hello everyone
I have been a fan of all cooks in xda-developers. I must say that I have tried every new Roms available.
One thing that keeps me trying the new roms is, can't receive MMS messages.
I am on AT&T in Atlanta area. I can send and receive sms but I can only send MMS messages.
I have used/ tried every radios too with same result.
Even Hyperdragon's AT&T mms hack didn't work.
I have searched and read all kinds of info on this and called AT&T to see if it was provisioned to receive mms. All the things are ok at the AT&T side.
I would love to solve and receive mms messages in the near future with your help.
Thanks guys in advance
sometimes it's a network issue with att. ive had this problem before. you just need to call att and they should be able to fix it. at least they did when my phone wouldnt send or recieve mms.
Ahh..I did that already with no such luck. Matter of fact , I called them 3 times so far. They told me to bring my phone in to do "sim-swap". As you know I can't do that because of " Cooked Rom" in my AT&T Tilt.
theres a link in the wiki explaining how to revert everything back to warranty settings

You can do a SIM-swap. They don't look at the guts of your OS just to change your SIM card.
Also, if you search the forums, there is a cab file that has all the ATT sms and mms settings in it. I use this when ever im having problems.
Also, are you using the default sms program built into WM or are you using an add on threader program?

Here is a customized ATT Settings cab that ATW and myself created that sets up the ATT settings w/o the proxy.
Mod Edit: Also allows creation mode in your MMS settings.
I had the same problem and tried may cabs posted some worked for a day and then failed again which I do not understand why. Finally I found this and it is working for me for a while. Try and see if it works.
I have tried "shogun_cing mms fix" with Hyperdragon. And still not able to receive mms ...dang.
On to try RR AT&T cab. I ll report back.
Maybe post exactly which rom you are using and post your message in that thread? I've had the exact same problem and have since try an MMS 1st thing after flashing to see if I am going to keep a ROM or not. Most new ROM's work since akaDonny went and found the dependency's needed for Arcsoft MMS.

By the way which rom did you use?
Well, after reading this thread last night I realized it's been quite awhile since I'd sent an MMS. Usually when I receive them, it has me go to www.viewmymessage.com. I don't think much of it because of all the flashing I do to my phone. Turns out after adding my settings, I couldn't send or receive MMS either. I called ATT told them my issue and somehow they fixed it again. I was told to turn my cell off and on 3 times and to wait 15 minutes before sending an MMS so that the data they were sending my SIM would fix it.

Well...just got back from AT&T store to do a sim-swap, jumping jelly fish- it's working now.
I am unsure if the sim-swap did the trick or some of the AT&T setting cabs I tried.
One way to find out is to flash other roms to see if it works.
Just can't understand why changing the sim card works....
they didn't have to swap my sim. i don't understand how they couldn't help you over the phone as well. Anyway, looks like your problem was resolved and that's what matters eh?

I know the shogun cab usually fixes any problems im having with MMS when i flash a new rom.. Is this cab/fix better then the shogun cab.. could you explain the differences?
thanks...
still using schap's 4.30
Just because I don't want to start a new thread, shogun cingular works just fine with receiving mms, though generally 9 times out of ten I never receive or can't play without saving, the AUDIO part of mms' when sent even though everyone elses devices (non htc) play just fine. Very annoying issue as most of the recipients devices; Lg vu's, samsung, blackberry's, and even their ****ty razr's get full playback of video and audio in their mms. What say you All the Way?
No Problem
Ever since I had my sim card changed at AT&T store, every rom I flashed the sms and mms works prefect.
After new flash I let the "auto" connection setup do its thing and voila its working. On a rare instances when it does not work, I just use one the "AT&T Wap MediaNet & MMs setting" cab file.
for those of you having trouble with mms , try changing sim, it worked for me.

Htc EVO "NO INCOMING MMS"

NOt sure if this is the right place to post this but I am going super crazy trying to get incoming mms to work, I got an htc EVO on the boost network and everything works perfect except for incoming mms this started when i updated to a GB rom "OMJ" I was on 2.2 before this with out any issue.
I can send mms and text, data and phone working perfect just cannot recieve mms, I have tried reflashing every with tons of different 2.2 and 2.3 roms that I can find with out any luck of recieving mms!!
I have access to hash codes ##3282# mms server, sending is not a problem it is only recieving...
If someone can help me out would be greatley appreciated or lead me in the right direction would also be grea thanks again for reading....
Can anyone lead me in the right direction? I can send mms but no receive..... happens on froyo as well this happend after I flashed gb rooted.....
Sounds like an APN (Access Point Name) problem. Your EVO may be using your Internet APN to send MMS (my Incredible S does), but requires a second APN to receive them.
I had this problem trying to run one APN to cover both things. Setting up two APNs, one for Internet and one for MMS specifically, cleared it up fine. You should be able to find APN settings for your carrier using Google, or just searching the EVO forum.
Let me know how you get on!
Good luck!

[Q] Tricky issues receiving MMS

I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to fix my MMS issues — maybe you guys can help. I have an unrooted N5 running 4.4.4 that is inconsistently receiving MMS messages (both photos and group texts). I'm currently using StraightTalk, though I was having the same issue with Cricket.
My APN settings are correct (from what I can figure), and sometimes I receive incoming MMS. I currently have Textra and GoSMS installed as my texting apps, with GoSMS currently as my default. Occasionally I'll receive an error in GoSMS that an MMS message was unable to be downloaded, and try as I may, I can never get the app to download and display it. However, if I open up Textra, the message will have come through there with no problem. So basically, unless I have 2 apps gathering MMS, I'll miss half of them. I only installed GoSMS after seeing it as a suggestion/solution in another forum - this was happening before I both installed. I was originally using Hangouts for SMS/MMS, which was having the same problem (and why I initially DL'd Textra).
I occasionally have issues sending out an MMS. It's a less frequent occurrence than the issues receiving, though it does happen.
I am thinking that if this was a network issue, the MMS wouldn't come through to my phone at all, so I've stopped trying to mess with my APN. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
I have Straight Talk too and been having issues with MMS i'm using 8sms. I have the old 3g sims card. what about you ?

I just got my SIM card last month, so I'm pretty sure it's the new one.

I'm currently having the same issue with a non rooted device.
I was originally with H20 (an AT&T mvno) and would have periodic issues with MMS. Both sending and receiving. I am using Google Hangouts.
I recently switched to Cricket (owned by AT&T) earlier this month (reasons unrelated), and have not been able to send or receive an MMS since. I have spent several hours on the phone with both Cricket and LG, even going into a store to have my SIM replaced. I came across this thread accidentally while looking for suggestions on the best way to do a backup before I try a factory reset as a last resort to resolve the problem.
APN has been verified correct numerous times and unfortunately, Cricket's cust service is next to useless. After two and a half weeks and numerous calls, I still have yet to hear back from a Tech Support rep. I'm not sure whose network straight talk uses, but I wonder if it's a network issue with AT&T subcarriers?
The most frustrating part is every time I talk to somewhat at Cricket cust service, they say that the Nexus 5 is not "officially supported" on their network and that it is probably a phone issue and try to sell me a new phone. When I explain that the Nexus 5 runs stock Android, they try and tell me that that might be the problem *SMH*.
Anyone else?

Yes me too. I found out today that my G2 can't get MMS at all. I've tried tons of fixes and nothing seems to work.
No sure if anyone is still experiencing the MMS issues on Nexus 5 as I am. I have a stock, unrooted N5 running Android 4.4.4 on Tmobile. GoSMS is my default sms client. What happens totally randomly is that I COMPLETELY lose the ability to send/receive MMS picture messages (group messages that come in as MMS are unaffected). Once I lose MMS, ALL text I have which have picture messages attached change from viewable icons to blank images or "Xs". All MMS messages in go become white boxes that say "picture does not exist). It has not mattered if I have taken all other text clients off the phone and used ONLY Hangouts as the default, it still happens. This is the ONLY solution I've found to fix the issue:
1) Set Hangout as default sms client
2) Reset APNs to default (settings-->SMS-->Access Point Names--> hit three dots-->reset to default)
3) Go to main phone settings (Settings-->More-->Mobile Networks-->Access Point Names), reset to default
4) Select the APNs that your device normally uses (for me, its fast.t-mobile.com), set MMS Port to 8080 and save APN
5) go back into Hangouts, select the same APN (fast.t-mobile.com), set the MMS Port to 8080 and save APN
6) Reboot phone
Once its rebooted, if your MMS images are once again viewable in Hangouts, its fixed and you can send/receive picture messages again. You can now switch to whatever default client you chose. This has worked for me EVERY time to 'fix' the MMS issue, but what I have never figured out is WHY its happening and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. I want to say the update to 4.4.2 may have triggered it, but I honestly can't recall. I know this wasn't ALWAYS an issue. If anyone else has any theories/ideas, I'm all ears. Its just a pain in the a** to have to reset the APNS in two spots and reboot every time this happens (I think I read that Hangouts' APN settings can override the system APN settings so that's why I reset in both spots). I've tried ONLY resetting the main phone's APN and it didn't fix the issue.

**com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel** is your gn0me in the engine;
where sms/ mms is *natively* transported via the native phone functions & hooks, hangouts provides the same functionality *over the top* of the carrier's route, strictly IP; call it hi-jacking in a sense, that's what you en-able hangouts to do on reboots, hijack those functions..
*SIM toolkit
*Phone/Messaging storage
*Phone
is what com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel is tied to, which hangouts, isn't..
Last update to hangouts screwed up my APN setting. ?

US user- not receiving SMS messages

Haven't really found US users for this phone. Band coverage looked good (a lot better than some Xioami's that are readily in America), and I got a pretty good deal on a new one.
SMS messages aren't coming through though. They've all sent fine, but most don't come through. Twice I have had the phone suddenly receive a ton of ones I knew I missed at once- when I tried to back up my text messages, and then randomly while sitting on my desk at work today.
I have T-Mobile and have tried multiple SIM cards, checking the APN settings (which will not switch to manual for some reason but look correct), tried another SMS app, and all in all spent 3-4 hours either at a T-Mobile store with clerks trying whatever they could, or on the phone with T-Mobile support. The next thing I'll be trying tonight is putting my SIM in another phone, and if things work, then doing a factory reset on this one.
It's looking like I may have to sell the phone at a loss and move on, but I thought I'd ask here first if this is something that the community might have a say on. Thanks in advance if anyone has anything to try!
I have the phone running on T-Mobile without an issue. APN settings are picked up automatically. They should only be needed for MMS (not SMS) anyhow.

The May security update fixed things for a couple of days- now I'm back to not receiving SMS messages. I guess I'll try a factory reset at this point...?
EDIT: Factory reset did nothing. Attempting an SMS backup did nothing either this time.
Any settings you can remember changing evbenev that might affect SMS or network connectivity? Anything you had to have T-Mobile do on their end?

Unlocking apn settings

My A51 5G worked fine with consumer cellular until last fall when I lost the ability to post in group messages. They walked me through resetting my apn settings and things went fine until a couple weeks ago it happened again and now I can't send pics in individual texts, receive/ send in group texts or make and receive phone calls. I spent over an hour with a csr from my carrier resetting apn multiple times. He finally told me the apn settings were locked and he would bump this up to a higher level. They haven't called back so I'm searching for help with this issue. Can anyone work me through this?
