I have an international Pixel XL. Today I flashed the official March 8.1.0 update, wiping all data. And during the initial boot, the screen suddenly turned black and there is no way to make it vibrate or turn on the screen. It seems to be completely bricked. But why does it brick like this? The Google picture on a white background appeared, showing the bootloader was OK.
In early March I also did this (maybe this, I can't remember clearly. I was installing either March update or LineageOS 15.1) and bricked my last Pixel XL.
Strange bug right? Anyone who has experienced this?
It is on the issue tracker. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/77658217
Have you held the power button down for more than, say, 30 seconds?

We will have to wait and see if this fixes the issue that some people have where the phone becomes unresponsive and they have to force a reboot to get it back working. It's happened twice on my 3a XL in the couple of months I've owned it. Both times the phone was not being used (so likely in sleep mode) and when I picked it up the phone was completely unresponsive.
And CaptivePortalLogin is still broke... Seriously?
I have neither of these problems on q beta 5.

Had both of these issues before and thought I was the only one lol
August build really made my battery life take a dive. Anyone else?
Battery stats showed it wasn't any particular app, but rather the kernel and system using the most battery. I tried a factory reset, but results were the same. I've since gone back to the July build.
I have spoken to someone that says the August build appears to have fixed his random shutdown issue though, so that's good.
Battery life is unchanged here... Still getting about 8 hours SOT per day.
Not sure what happened with CaptivePortalLogin, but suddenly in the last week it just started working. Didn't work initially after the upgrade, but had been lately.
I was excited to get the latest Android update, everything seemed fine. I have never flashed or rooted my 128GB pixel, so I thought there would be no problems. The update rebooted my phone and I saw my GUI had changed. In the notification bar, it said finishing update. I let it be and next thing I know it shutdown and has since never been able to be started again. There is nothing on the screen and it is not running or making any signs of life. The battery was around 55% when it had finished the update, so I guess I am curious if anyone else is having the same issues.
I have tried holding the power button for well over a minute. I also have tried holding the power button and volume down for well over a minute. I know it charged since I could feel it get a little warmer while on the charger and I let it charge all night, but still nothing has changed. My wife has the exact same phone, so I am holding off until more people update just in case.
Sorry to hear that mate, I updated to Android 10 but from last Q beta and had no issue. You may want to search for bricked pixel in the search box as there are a few threads of a similar nature posted on here that may help you diagnose the issue
You said you have never flashed or rooted your phone, but by any chance did you unlock the bootloader? I may be wrong, and hopefully I am, but from everything I have read, unless your bootloader is unlocked you're out of luck trying to fix it with fastboot commands.
Hi,
I wanted to ask about an issue with Xiaomi mi 9. Yesterday the display on my phone flashed white and then went completely black. After that sometimes when trying to turn on the phone the logo showed up very dim, but later on, it stopped showing up at all. The phone seems to work as it flashes the indicator light, it does the charging sound and the indicator light goes on when I plug it in. The screen is still completely black. I thought it might be a hardware issue, but it could also be software. The software on it was Google experience android 10. I installed it around a year ago and it was working fine until now. When I go into fastboot state the logo shows up for a moment but it's very dim.
Does this seem to be a hardware or a software issue? Can I fix it in any way?

Yeah its probably a hardqare issue, sorry.
The fastboot mode wouldnt dim due to the rom.
Its most likely something is wrong with your display.
Youll have to get it repaired by Xiaomi service center or somewhere that can replace the display.
Hi,
First time I see that: my phone is dead applying official security update of August 2021.
My phone had still original rom with official updates.
Following the update, my phone never restarted. The screen is black, I tried all possible physical key combinations, it stays black.
I tried to charge it, it doesn't change anything and the screen no longer shows a charge indicator.
Be careful with this update if you have a G970U1.
Ouch. Sounds like a hardware failure.
Try powering on hooked to the charger if you haven't already.
Yes I tried, same thing Thank you
Looks like a hardware failure I agree but that seems related to the update, I can't believe the coincidence
Hello,
I got a very strange problem with my Pixel 4a I recently got for repair and I need some help.
The failure I experience is that it boots and after a few seconds just reboots again.
So I thought I should put the device into Fastboot or adb and get a new Fimware flashed. Strange enough it shows the same behavior in this modes means I cannot flash anything at all onto this device.
A further defect are 3 vertical green Bars but else it is basically new.
Hope someone has some clue on what's going on.
