coming from an iphone 7. love my new s8+ execpt for this one missing feature. when i get a text on an iphone the phone would light up and show me the text without me having to touch the phone. its great when busy and don't have hands to touch the phone to see what the message is. now with the samsung i get the beep that a text came in but have to press home button tap the message and drag down to see what it is. is there a setting so i can see what the message is without touching my phone?
I know there's an app called Glimpse notifications, that does something similar,
But I have not tried it yet.

Hi all,
After a phone call i often see that a lot of programms has been launched accidentally due to the contact between my ear and the touch screen.
does anyone have a tip to automatically lock the touch screen during a phone call ?

Lol, my ear once accepted another incoming call from this girl that I was avoiding for ages... and I didn't even realise I was talking to her, thought it was my other mate.

Ouch!
If i'm not wrong, S2U2 can turn display off during a call. Great software!
I've tried two progs more: PhoneScreenLock and InesoftAddressBook.
Inesoft provide many features including display switch off during a call.
Phonescreenlock keep the display on showing info about the call, locking the screen.. but with long conversation you may frie your ear
Bye

Any updates on this one please? I have the same problem with running gazillion apps on my Polaris with my ear in call as benjb did.
Tried PhoneScreenLock - did not work well for me because its buggy (the lock screen pretty often appears somewhere BELOW the in-call buttons or start menu and needs to be switched to via closing in-call screen, which obviously renders it useless).
The InesoftAddressBook is not an option either, cause I already have other address book app and would like to stick with it (BTW my current address book has "slide-to-pick-up-call" feature, which makes me afraid that it would conflict with S2U2).
Sadly the Polaris doesn't have motion or light sensor... It would make my life sooooo easier with ZuinigeRijder's TouchLockPro...
So any ideas on what else I could use please? Thanks!
two things...
1) Are you aware that after you answer/make a call but before you put the phone up to your ear you can press the power button (not press & hold, just press & release) which will turn off the display, but not disconnect your call (or, turn off your phone)? No stray on-screen button pushing this way! With the screen off the "end call/hang up" button still functions and when you press it the screen will come back on immediately. If you need to access your address book or make a note etc during a call, press & release the power button and it will turn the screen back on and not effect your call in any way. If your phone is set up like mine and it returns to the home screen each time the screen is turned on, then simply press the green phone button and the dialer comes back to the top.
2) If #1 doesn't do it for you and you need software to accomplish this, then search this forum for MissedCallReminder (just like that - no spaces). Besides having an option to "lock screen on connect" it has a very handy feature (the main feature actually, as the name indicates) of being able to set up repeat reminders for missed calls and missed sms messages. Very handy. It can be setup to run automatically at startup so you don't have to remember to start it up manually. It also automatically unlocks the screen when you end your call.
Turned out I had bookmarked the app, so here's a link:

Hi guys, im using a fuze, it has the HTC Stock Rom on it, the thing that pisses me off about it is the damn text messaging in landscape, this is what happens, i receive a text message, i want to reply, so i put it in landscape mode by sliding the screen so i can type on the keyboard, when i start typing the freakin dialer shows up and it gets in the way, is there any way to fix this. its so annoying
Simple. If you open the SMS from your mate first, so you're in the "instant-messaging-a-like" dialogue screen, THEN open the keyboard, you won't get that problem.
If you open the keyboard whilst you're still at the HOME screen, then you'll get the landscape version of the HOME screen, and typing stuff in there will automatically take you to the dialler.
The thing to remember is that if you're looking at emails, SMSs, the Weather or whatever in the tabs in the HOME screen, the application you're using is the HOME app (Manilla), so opening the keyboard up is just going to get you that landscape version of HOME with all the application tabs. It's only when you actually open up an SMS / Email etc. that you enter the appropriate application, and at that point the keyboard is "owned" by that app and opening the keyboard up will get you the landscape version of that app instead of the landscape version of HOME.
Hope that helps.
haha, well i guess i kind of worded it wrong, what i meant to say was when i get the text message a little box shows with the message, when i hit reply which is in the lower left corner it enters the messaging application once there i put the typing cursor in the text area, when i slide up the screen to use the keyboard it kicks me out of the messaging app and then takes me to the dialer. once i close the dialer then i can continue typing
Turn off the notification box. When you get a new SMS, you get a green indicator against the SMS tab on the HOME screen anyway, so it's not necessary. When you get an SMS, it'll still play a sound and give you an indicator on the top bar. This'll get round your problem.
coming from a tilt and many other windows mobile devices im very used to the way the text messaging works, i really like the pop up notification more than just a green number.
Same Problem with MDA VARIO II
I got this problem with the MDA Vario II and I still get it with the TOUCH PRO
It would be great to fix it.
Does anyone have a way to get all the menu items to work on the text message screen
Stock Rom, Alltel Touch Pro
See attached screen shot
If I'm not mistaken, you're on the "Conversation" screen -- not in the Inbox. Therefore, I don't think that all of those grayed out option are relevant.
A little weird, but ya...
yeah, i wish it was possible to just have them gone, instead of grayed out. whats the point in graying it out?
I know this is a little O.T but how can you make that menu a bit smaller. If I open it up accidentally during a phone call the only way to close it is to press one of the options.
When I am on a phone call my ear hits the notification bar and because I am holding the phone the way that I am the screen orients for landscape. When I finish the call I have to chase the "Close" button from the left edge to the bottom (because I have now moved the phone back to portrait position), or tap the bottom of the phone to get the screen to re-orienate so I can close "Notifications" before I hit "End" to end the call. I like having the ability to tap and get notifications but I hate that when on a call I initiate it. Is there a way to make the notifications bar inactive when I am on a call? Now that I think about it...I use Co0kies Home Tabs so I actually get my notifications there. Maybe there is a way to turn of notifications all together? I realize there is probably already another thread for that and since I would prefer to have both I'll stick with my original thought.
Using an AT&T LG G5 with android 7. (but posting here because the question is NOT LG specific, tested and observed same behavior on a Nexus 6P with android O beta).
So android has this neat "Screen Pin" feature so I can open the dialer, pin that screen and hand the phone to a friend who can make a call without access to anything else on my phone.
Sounds great but here is what actually happens: with the screen pinned, I can enter a number and press the place call button, the phone will show a message that you need to press the back and overview buttons to unpin the screen, the phone call screen will NOT come up, but the phone will actually place the call, so you are in a call but without a screen so you can't even hang up.
That makes the screen pin feature pretty useless for phone calls.
So does this work for anyone else? any suggestions that might make this work?
(not earth shatteringly important, but a nice feature to have if it actually worked).
Thank you
