Matching phone with network bands clarity - General Questions and Answers

If PhoneA supports LTE bands B2/4/5/17 and PhoneB supports B2/71 and AT&T has B2/4/5/17, will both phones practically work the same? Or will PhoneA be a better option since it supports various bands of AT&T?

Are there band variants?

I want to buy a Nexus 5, but I am in Central America. Here, we basically use the AT&T equivalent to North American bands. Can I just buy any Nexus 5 and pop in my SIM?
I thought I'd go to the best source, because I've seen conflicting info online. Thanks in advance. :good:
Theres only 2 models. D820 for USA and D821 for everywhere else. This is not Samsung

[Completed] ZUKZ1 in Canada (4G)

So i am considering buying this phone, but I have only 1 concern about lte on this website: http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_230088.html it says that 4f bands are only:FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz, so will it work in Canada?? I checked http://maps.mobileworldlive.com/ and It only compatable with 2100, no 1700 is it fine if I only have 1?

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
There is no forum specifically for the ZUKZ1 but you may want to ask your question with all relevant details in the friendly general Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help where members familiar with that device and he Canadian networks might be able to advise you.

[Completed] Increasing the supported bands or frequency on Chinese phones?

Hey all,
So I recently have been looking into Chinese phones and have realized that there are some great competitively priced phones on the market, in particular I am interested in the Lenovo Lemon k3. However I have T-mobile, which support Bands 2, 4 and 12 for 4G LTE, most Chinese phones however do not support those bands. I was wondering if its possible to root and then mod any of these phones to support all Bands, I dont want to buy one and be stuck using 2G coverage.
Thanks,

LTE Band Questions

Hello XDA Community,
I have several questions concerning LTE bands (well, cellular data bands in general). This terminology may not be completely accurate, but I think I should get the gist across. I'll number them for ease of response.
1. It is my current understanding that the hardware that determines which LTE bands a phone can use are built into the SOC. Is this correct?
2. Is there a way I can look up which bands the hardware on my phone supports? Ie. can I look up what bands a "qualcomm snapdragon 660" supports? I tried googling it of course, but no luck.
3. Would I look this up via an app?
4. It is also my understanding that many phones have some bands disabled. Doing some googling show that you can unlock these hidden bands in some cases? Is that correct?
There may be more specified questions to follow, provided what the answers to these questions are.
Iam interested in the same questions.
Sometimes after enabling LTE bands the phone still don't use them.
If someone know technically in details how it works please share your knowledge !
Thanks
Was googling and found this post.
I have exactly the same questions. Some expert could please enlighten us? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I don't have this device but, according to the following link...
http://www.phonemore.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-sm-g935u/specs/3327
... someone has provided feedback regarding both the LTE Bands 17 & 28. The member stated "The FM radio chip has finally been activated (thanks to the Nougat update), and the G935U has LTE bands 17 and 28.".
You can always try to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device for some additional feedback regarding this as well.
