Flashing 02 firmware over Vodafone firmware? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

My phone currently has the latest Vodafone G930FXXU2DRB6 firmware dated 04/03/2018. I want to install the latest 02 firmware G930FXXS1DRA5, build date 29/01/2018.
I've read online that you can run into problems flashing a firmware with an older build date, is this so?
Before you ask, I want to use 02's WiFi calling feature but you need to have an 02 firmware to activate this feature.
Normally I would just go ahead and do it but it's taken me over a week to actually get the phone up and running.
I factory reset it in recovery when I purchased it as the previous owner could not remember her google password, I then ran into the FRP issue.
In the end I had to get her to supply me with the original purchase receipt and go to a Samsung service center to get it working.
Can this be done in Odin & am I likely to run into any problems along the way?

No one...!

You can flash a stock ROM for your region and then Kies should recognise that.

Here are carrier branded stock ROMs...

If you've not done it before it can look a little daunting, but all the information you need is in the first few posts of each thread.
Good luck
but why my phone doesnt it gets updated via kies?like if my bro send me a phone from uk.should i send the phone back for updates?
You don't need to send your phone anywhere to get it updated - there must be another reason why Kies won't update it. Have you ever flashed a custom ROM or firmware?
actually it was locked here and i went to a shop to unlock it.it has siyah kernel and i guess it was flashed once for unlocking.
and how to get back the custom ROM etc if it was flashed?
yes i did flash custom firewre and ROM.let mee send u the snapshot of it.
You cannot use Kies to update your ROM if you have a custom ROM. It will only work if you have the correct branded or unbranded ROM as per my first post.
i am from Pakistan.
so can you tell me which ROM is for my area.please if you know.paste the link below.thanks.
your device does not support upgrading via kies

No updates via kies
Hi All ,
I gave my phone to samsung people for EFS or IMEI Problem .
They updated my phone to same version 2.3.6 I was already on it .
and now when I am connecting my phone to kies for ICS update its saying
"Your phone does not support updates via kies"
Never rooted..
the product code of your phone has changed, to be exact the country code in the phones product code. you will need the IMEI number and your country code to switch it.
you can check your current product code
*2767*4387264636#
1. get your country code from fus.nanzen.se
scroll down to presets and search for you country/provider check the product code. the last three letters are your country code.
Create a backup before proceeding it will wipe your data and reboot your phone.
2. To change your country code (IMEI = your phone IMEI number, you can get your IMEI by typing *#06#)
*#272*IMEI#
You will have a list of available codes to choose from. install the one which applies to your country.

No updates since June 2016 after rooting and tripping KNOX

Hey guys, I have the g930FD version and stuck with the June update after I have rooted. I have reflashed the orignal rom still to no effect. I have used ODIN, Kies and Smart switch for restoring to the original firmware. I have restored to factory defaults and still stuck in the old update. Can you help me?
As per the usual, I take no responsibility for anyone who reads this and does it wrong and bricks their phone. This is just what works for me.
At this point, you can probably download any pushed updates, but they won't install. What you can do is get the latest firmware for your phone at sammobile and install it via Odin. A useful walkthrough (albeit an older one) can be found at http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-samsung-how-flash-stock-rom-via-odin.html . Here's one that might be more recent, so read both: http://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin .
You will need to make sure you get the proper firmware for your particular country, so it will work with your provider. As an example, I have a 930f which originally had the TTT firmware (Trinidad/Tobago) so I would need to download the TTT firmware.* You should keep in mind that when you flash the .TAR.MD5 file with Odin, you will completely over-write your phone, so back up EVERYTHING. I even remove my SD card just in case.
*As I live in the USA, I can't flash the .TAR.MD5 file as it comes to me. I have to unzip it with 7zip, and then flash only some of the files. If you also have a European phone with an unlocked bootloader, you will need to haunt the Questions and Guides for advice on which files you should flash. This is because one of the files has to do with the radio/modem/setttings of that country, and if it doesn't match your country, your phone won't work with your provider anymore. The CSC maybe? Can anyone remind me?

Flash stock -> Vodafone sim inserted, now a branded version?

I switched to Vodafone recently, and after inserting my new SIM into the phone, Vodafone apps appeared automatically.
I know also discover that in the 'System -> About Phone' there is now a 'custom version' listed as VDF.xxxx.
I also can't register for the beta program and I also can't scan for the new v10 release.
How can I 'unbrand' my ROM to be back to a normal unlocked one (as it was and as I bought it). Is it possible to flash a stock version over it and start again? Or even flash v10 'stock' directly on top of it ?

Forget the beta, stable is rolling out now
You will receive an update to the vodofone branding when you insert your vodafone sim, nothing you can do about that, only way you can get back to clean stock is remove sim and factory reset, but it will happen again once you insert the sim
No stock 10 to flash, wait for OTA

Since I can't find any stock firmware for my C431R2 - and I don't dare to flash any other variant - I'm kinda stuck. I don't even want v10 right now, I just want to loose the Vodafone branding.. maybe I'll go to a Vodafone store and force them to undo it.
Will a factory reset clear the branding? Since it's labeled as firmware I'm kinda afraid it will survive a factory reset .
If a factory reset works, I can just ignore the Carrier-update, right ?
Same issue with Altice in France...
Luckily I disabled auto-install over night before it installs, but it is downloaded and I can't find where to delete the file... I guess it is not possible.
I didn't reboot my phone for a whole month, scared that it might install the custom ROM.
But I start to believe that if I don't install it first, I won't get v10....
not sure if I should remove SIM card > reboot > install v10 when available, or just can't do anything and have to install the custom rom if I want further updates
I'm so glad my Telco (Telstra) doesn't push these updates, I don't think you can remove them easily apart for factory resetting but what I would do is:
turn off phone > remove sim > connect to hisuite > backup > then reset to factory through hisuite > update through hisuite > restore backup in hisuite > insert sim.
But this seems like a pain on the ass to do every update and it's probably best to just not use companies that push carrier updates.
Hello!. I have a P30 from Claro operator (I'm from Colombia) and I would like to know if you can flash to a global firmware without having to unlock the bootloader. The operator firmware bothers me a lot because it doesn't update often.

Have you tried to factory reset without any simcard? or even factory reset and update via hisuite?, if it did remove claro updates it would probably install them again when reinserting sim but you can just turn off auto updates in developer settings under "Automatic system updates" (https://androidcure.com/huawei-p20-enable-developer-options-usb-debugging/).
In regards to flashing firmware you may be able to use usb-otg method (https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p30-pro/how-to/help-please-change-firmware-o2-phone-t3999837) and (https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...orial-vog-l29-flash-firmware-153-usb-t3928793)
Flashing the global rom over your rom may brick your phone and I would try a similar firmware to your current one before trying the global firmware.
Using HiSuite, I managed updating to v9.1.0.240 and ignoring the custom update. I think v10 will be installable just the same way without the custom version soon.
But from the smartphone update system, it still shows me the downloaded custom v9.1.0.1.
So I need to get my hands on the FullOTA version of v10 for my model so I can actually try flashing it.
But I can't even find any v9. 1 FullOTA version for my rom, let alone v10.
Only on that paid firmware download site, but it sounds very sketchy and bogus to be paying 17 dollars for a download (if they actually deliver)

whats best way to flash unbranded SM-G715U1 to U for vzw?

So both my phone and vzw branded phone are same model, and android 11 firmware is out for verizon and my phone received the G715U1UEU7BUC3 ota 11. Is the latest Odin software and verizon G715USQU7BUC1 firmware what i need to get it done?
Also, do i need to do the full flash or can i get by with just one file that includes all the vzw bloatware. From what ive read i can get by with flashing just the userdata file. Once complete ive also read i need to do a factory reset and that it can be done i DL mode. Is that true? Finally can i leave my sim in for this or should it be out
?
?
Anybody??
Not even a response from Europe where they must hand these xcover pro's out with every gas tank fillup.
I have the latest version of odin installed and downloaded the verizon ota firmware G715USQU7BUC1 and am ready to give it a shot. I would just like a little confirmation im on the right track. Bootloader versions are the same. (bootloader is still locked) Even a grunt would do..........

g970n vs g970f

Hi all,
Yesterday I bought an S10e under the impression that it is sm-g970F.
Trying to flash Android 11 I discovered that it is actually sm-g970N.
Is there really a difference between them?
Should I be worried that some functions will be missing/unavailable?
Also, in the settings, it appears as g970F. How did the seller change it??
I have the same problem i tried to update the phone to the latest sm-g970f rom (figured if it's already installed it's possible)
And non of the roms flashed only when i decided to try latest sm-g970n rom it flashed however i bricked the phone and i have no idea what to do now.

So after digging into the issue since i have the same problem here are my conclusions:
1. The phone is a Korean Variant G970N it is probably a renewed phone and not a new one.
apparently it's okay for an importer to take used phones (from Korea in this case) and replace all the cosmetics but of cause leaving the used MB.
Now here is what you should worry about, in order to flash the G970F Fixed Rom (there is no way you have updates) they used a Custom Kernel which means the phone was rooted and now Knox is tripped (this not reversible).
(Download Phone Info from play store and check knox if it shows 0x1 then your phone warrenty is void and some features won't be available any more for example - Samsung Pay).
So what should you do?
Well if you still have the option i would have demanded my money back!!
One thing that i am perplexed about is how in hell is this legal?!!!
If you no longer have this option or you want to keep the phone you have two option:
1. Flashing Korean Unbranded Firmware (KOO) which is pretty good it doesn't have bloatware or issues as far as i can tell, i only found one down side for it, the phone language selection is small but if you only need English (like any normal Human) then you are golden.
2. Keep the G970F ROM but bare in mind it will receive no updates and no security patches.
I am still looking for a proper way to flash G970F Firmware over G970N for now i haven't found any internet source that will confirm it's even possible.
So how did those importers\sellers did it, they probably flashed it with a Cellphone Lab Software (not Odin solution) and used a custom Kernel to fool Knox, like i said before this is practically a crime and i don't understand how can they sell used phones as new and get away with it!!!!
I had the same suspicions....
I'll try going to the lab that sold the previous owner the device and deal with them tho it looks like I just got scammed...
Sorry to bring this up again but I've just had an idea following JerryRigEverything's video:
What if I transplant SM-G970F components from a broken device that no longer works or in use in my SM-G970N which is supposedly new.
My N device is now bricked for some reason I couldn't solve, though my suspicion is that it has to do with incompatibility with the SIM card I use.
When my device did work, it worked great! ...besides battery issues that are most likely a result of the incompatibility aforementioned.
Will this work? If so, what components do I need? I already know I'll need the logic board but as seen in the video, there are several more antennas, should I just copy what Jerry did?

Hi Vegetto,
I am from India and buy a galaxy S10e from UAE, It is showing G970F in the Phone's about but the problem is It is a G960N. Now, When I see in Sam Phone Info app there is Bootloader version - G970N, PDA Version - G970F, CSC G970F.
It is also a Knox tripped phone. Knox 0/1.
But if I see in Samsung code by typing in keypad *#12580*369#
it showing like all option in Odin:
BL: G970F
AP: G970F
CP: G970F
CSC: G970F
Does this means I can flash new Firmware on the list of SAM Mobile website, with G970F series firmware, It also showing in SAM Phone Info App that there latest firmware G970FXXSEFUL1/G970FOXMEFUJ2/G970FXXSEFUJ2.
I am in India right now.
Please help me, My email Id is -- [email protected]
It actually means you cannot flash SM-G970F the only roms you can flash are G970N.
Also if you want the phone to get security updates you must flash the original phones bootloader version, my suggestion download the G970N KOO firmware it's a global firmware. As for the knox it is tripped and there is nothing you can do about it.

How can I flash the original phone's bootloader version?
Where from I can download the original phone's G970N KOO Firmware and is it official Samsung Firmware?
How are they able to flash G970F? Is it custom Rom or do they use the original one?
I searched that my phone is using G970FXXS4BTB3 firmware which Vietnam XXV and same number found at https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s10e/firmware/SM-G970F/XXV/download/G970FXXS4BTB3/322678/ in an old update in 2020.
So see the attached screenshot, can I flash its latest version with odin. Of course, there is a chinese written in recovery mode installed when I go to its recovery mode for flashing with Odin.
I have a similar problem right now on my Korean S10E. Device is SM-G970N. I need it to be in Turkish. Only Themes item in Settings is in Turkish- very interesting- The rest is in English. App names are mostly Turkish Settings app name is in English.
The bootloader is unlocked but the phone is not rooted, Knox seems not tampered.
Could not start OTA update at first, I have upgraded a few versions from PC via Smartswitch. Just then noticed OTA also started downloading. The rest of the updates went on from the phone until upgrading to 12, there was a message like "All of the updates were not succesful." OTA update no longer responded. This time I turned back to Smart Switch. Update finished this time and finally I am at the latest version.
I only need Turkish in Settings. I used some ADB commands and an app called MoreLocale2. It did not work either. This has to be simple. Turkish exists. Keyboard is Turkish but not Settings. Quick links and most other things are strangely mixed English and Turkish.
How can I enable full Turkish?
