Hi guys !
I bought a Smartphone from an Online Shop in China...the price were awesome and I jump on the opportunity
However, for safety purposes (it is the first time that I payed so much from chines online shop), I payed for an transport insurance that will payback if the phone get lost in the "journey" from China to Europe.
By tracking system info, I know that the phone get to Spain, than Portugal (no customs system )...but it's been a while since the phone is stuck in Lisbon and, next week, the deadline for the reception of the good will come to an end....
Now, my question is:
If I activate the insurance from China, since the deadline is overdue and Lisbon won't answer my requests for more informations, and that, by some miracle, the phone finally get to my address (it happened for some goods in the past), will the phone works?
I don't know if the seller will blacklist the phone in China or in worldwide carriers....in fact, I don't even know if I will get a payback
Thanks for the help !!

Why would a seller blacklist a phone they are knowingly selling? Was it listed for sale as a black listed item?

If the phone doesn't reach the client...it could mean 2 things, or it's lost or it was robbed by someone in the chain of transport...at least that's how I think.

I'm gonna have to agree this seems like a crock. I paid £424.80 without VAT at hantech.co.uk
Umm stay clear is my advice......with a "business email that is a yahoo email address. In the uk i always check for a VAT number, not sure if its the same over there, but there seems to be very little info about them......
What the hell is VAT? I see that on all the Europian sites. What exactly is it.

Value Added Tax. see the wiki description here.
VAT
Value Added Tax,
It's the equivalent of the State Sales Tax, however for the UK it's a massive 17.5% - OUCH
All sites in the UK show their registered VAT number, which is unique to that business. I purchased cheep software (MS Office) from a site once, didnt have a vat number, and the software turned out to be hacked.
The Real Deal Or Not!
Anybody know about this website, is it the real or not? uhhh! I think I will do some research on this website tomorrow............!
I call BS. If you think it's too good to be true, it probably is.
total BS! think about it.

In the Netherlands the legal thieves (government) take a humungous 19%
And they were even considering to raise it to 20%, but that had so much economic consequences that they didn't dare to do so.
But on-topic now: It has to be fake.
I bought the Raphael (HTC Touch Pro) for €602.= , est. £400,= or $870,=
That was almost the cheappest price possible in the netherlands.
So $450,= is almost 50% off, can't be legit.

Metrocellinc?
Well I was suprised too ...and I e-mailed them,so that's what I was told:
***************************************
ME: "I would like to buy Xperia X1, but before that I have a few questions:
First of all I would like to ask why are those cell phones so cheap and are they clones? Are they woking properly and can I use them to Europe?
Second how can you sell Xperia when the world premiere of that phone is in November?
How can I be sure that is secure? And what is the cost of delivery to Williamsburg VA? And how can I return it (if I'm not pleased) and have the full price back?"
Metrocellinc: "Thanks for your Inquiry.
We have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 available in stock, Brand New, Unlocked, Factory Sealed and comes with a 1 year warranty.
You have been able to find phones at this price due to our Summer closeout sales (offer valid while stock last) We are Authorised sony dealers and we are currently on introductory sales into the market.
You will be getting a 3days return policy and a 1 year warranty. The X1 is compatible with any carrier anywhere in the world as it supports triband and quadband.
Delivery is $40
How many units do you intend to purchase?
We accept payments via Money Gram. Do you know where a Money Gram Agent is located?

Me: "Can I Pay with Visa?"
Metrocellinc: "At this time we are unable to accept payments via Credit Cards as we are currently facing problems with our credit card processor.
Money Gram is the only payment alternative."

Althought there's no note about that paying problem in their site!!!

I don't feel secure about this!!!Although the prices are fantastic....
....again too good to be true
Hmmm heavily underpriced, Payment exclusivly MoneyGram? Definite Scam. This kind of thing is often all over ebay. Has anyone actually gone through with a transaction with this crowd and got anything?
If yer looking for a cheap Raphael take a look at the Raphael Vendor Wiki
I keep that up to date weekly and at this time the top 3 cheapest sellers are Tiga Dua Cellular in Indonesia for €497.43 , 2Call from Netherlands for €576.00 and DigiTec of Switzerland for €585.60.
The most expensive I've seen is €739.00 in Portugal by Fnac.
Anyways Head to the Vendor Wiki at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_Vendors
If you know any other retailers add them to the wiki

Hi,
I don't know where to obtain this information, so maybe you can help me
I just arrive in Canada (ottawa) for at least one year. I would like to take a smartphone but the price here is expensive ! My old HTC magic is not compatible with most provider (i try some providers : some ask for a canadian ID and i just have a visa, and other told me the frequency will not work on my phone...)
Well, maybe i could take a 3-years contract with telus for exemple as they don't ask for canadian ID card. And if i return to france after one year, just close my bank account in canada and don't pay for breaking the contract ... ? Do i risk something ? i want to be able to return to canada in the futur lol
Thank you

Without credit history, who on earth is going to give you a phone up-front? I reckon they would want ID, or a large deposit... And if you break the contract, you may find that if you return to Canada, no cellphone provider would serve you, as they might make a credit report against you...
Not worth it, and I reckon you will find nobody will give a 3 year contract without full Canadian ID, or a large deposit to cover phone, and much of the contract payments...
Very dangerous. If they sue you, you burn in hell and can not enter the land again.
Same for US parking tickets, unfortunately

Lol speaking of experience?
Anyway, have you checked out prepaid? Might not be the ideal option, but might be your only one if you can't get a contract. Given that any of the carriers have matching frequencies with your Magic of course.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA Premium App
Mr recommendation is to buy a phone you want to use for a long time. Get the contract and when you return home cancel the contract pay the ETF and unlock the phone for use at home
Go to a wind store or mobilicity. You pay more upfront for the phone but there is no contracts involved and you can cancel whenever you want.
Sent from my LG-C900 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
What about just buying a phone outright and not signing a contract. Is that allowed by the Canadian carriers? If so that would be the best route I would imagine.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Just think for a minute, you'd rather put yourself in a position where the law is after you over a fricking phone? Am I the only person to see how stupid this is?
In france, you can break a contract freely if you give a proof that you leave the country. I have friends who move to england, and SFR just ask for a working proof and cancel the contract.
Thank everybody for your answer, wind mobile could be nice, but the coverage zone is very small and i would like to use internet during my travel all around the canada. I will check for mobilicity ...
Either go to the provider and explain your situation to them, or just buy a second hand device.
They will either find you in France or they will not allow you to go back to Canada in future, or you'll get a really bad credit history, or something nasty I can't think of at the moment. Not worth it.
They won't give you a phone on a 3 year contract anyway in your situation.
Hey I live in Canada as well, and yes I know the plans/contracts are not the best. You could try Kijiji.ca to find a phone, that you would like. Prices vary.
as i can see, most of us here went the G1 -> G2 -> Relay way.
unfortunatly i'm sitting here in germany where the Relay is not available. and all attempts importing one so far failed. amazon doesn't have it in stock, ebay sellers don't ship overseas etc.
Can anybody help me aquire such a phone? Either get me one and send it to me or point out a dealer that ships to germany?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

you have 3 options
1) negri electronics (they are trustworthy, i got my doubleshot from them)
2) canada gsm (never tried, and you gotta mail them to sort out the international shipping stuff before you order)
3) ebay
of course, going with ebay is the less expensive but the most risky option. i got my relay from ebay, i had to camp ebay.com for a while and message all the people that had a good auction open (try to stay away from fishy stuff that may be stolen or just a scam) and ask if they would ship oversea.
most of them do not, but some do, it's just a matter of patience.
keep in mind that you will have to pay the duties for importing goods, and they will probably be quite hefty, hovering around ~100€ if you go with a shop like negri electronics

The main reason why ebay sellers don't ship overseas, is due to customs and shipping. USPS Express mail, is the only way you can ship internationally with tracking. But some countries simply won't allow those shipments.
And the hassle of dealing with problems if something goes wrong...

this is incorrect information.
first of all, customs duties will be paid by the buyer when he receives the package. the seller won't even know how much will be paid.
second, you can ship overseas with any major courier like FedEx (i recommend), UPS, DHL and of course USPS which will then be handled by your local postal service.
about stuff going wrong (in the shipment phase) there isn't much if you pay with paypal and make sure the shipping is made via a trustworthy courier with a tracking number.
of course after you have got the phone, you'd be on your own if it has some problems but if you do it right the shipment shouldn't be that much of an issue

What about a service like SHIPITO?
I am from Czech Rep and have a luck that many of my colleagues are flying to US on regular basis but this service could be used just for this very special purpose.
@fantomex:
yeah.. i stumbled over services like that and i'm considering it.
about canadagsm: i wrote a couple of mails with them back and forth about shipping and conditions and after everything was sorted out i told them that i would like to order. no answer from them now for 2 days. seems like it's back to the drawing board. :-/
found an ebay-seller who's willing to ship to germany, but auction is still up for 3 days... and dunno how that will turn out.
anybody can suggest more online stores that will ship to germany? spend an hour or two torturing google and co but it's hard getting any results since search results are filtered by location. and i guess i cannot deny my german IP ^ ^
found a couple of phone stores but they were either out of stock of didn't have the Relay listed at all.
weird that canadagsm stopped responding. anyway negri has written on its site that it is on backorder, and that they usually ship backordered items within few work days (they probably will just buy a phone then unlock and ship it) so i think you can try and ask them.
if you wanna go the ebay way, make sure you buy a perfect (mint) condition phone, no bad imei, and that the seller will ship with tracking to you. (and, ofc, paypal payment)
yeah.. it's weird about canadagsm.. took them an hour to reply to the initial mail. but now: nothing. already re-sent the mail twice..
will contact negri when i get home since the phone on ebay dissapeared without a trace all of a sudden..

Hi
Ebay india has a sevice called 'global easybuy'. One can buy anything from ebay usa (irrespective of the seller ships internationally or not) and ebay will deliver to your doorstep. Shipping, customs etc charges are included at the time of payment and are quite nominal. Look for 'global easy buy' on ebay germany. Hope they have this service.

Hello folks,
I was wondering if US customs hassled anyone when getting phone from HongKong/China through ebay or GearBest.
I am considering some off brand phone. I am not too sure yet if I will get it from Hong Kong or China or through which website. I would like to know if anybody paid more than what was asked at the respective website later due to the customs or something else. Every website says, there 'may' be an additional charge but other things I have gotten, have never been asked for anything more, but this is the first time getting a phone or such electronic device.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Of course there will be an import charge of every things that gets posted outside the country. However you can buy the phone and then choose DHL and they will cover the import charge too. But there won't be any hidden charges as far as I know.

Do you have personal experience with this?
I ask because this is not the first order for me that is getting shipped from China or HK. As a matter of fact, some orders have been way more expensive than this and large in size but never have I been charged any customs duty. None of my orders were electronics though, hence I am curious.
With regards to DHL, again do you have experience of this? I don't know why a carrier would pay the customer's customs duty.

Hi there,
well I bought a phone from the UAE and I had to pay a VAT AT IMPORT 30.31 and an advanced payment 14.50 which a total of 44.81 .
so I was reading my old receipt it said and I quote " the value of the goods and freight must exceed 22 euro in order for VAT to be applied by Customs.
so basically each country has their own importing charge and in Ireland it is 23%. You can find more Details on the DHL website itself and also on any Delivery Service Website.

any advice about how to get the P7Pro sent to my country(Portugal)? My friend in Germany already received the P7Pro, but DHL told him that as soon it arrives in Portugal, because of the battery, it will be transfered back to germany!?
Which company can send it to my country with no restrictions? UPS?

It shouldn't, because my friend from Germany recievied it there and sent via DHL to Hungary. So, everything was fine. Same rules I suppose in Portugal.
My friend had to use Hermes from Germany back in the Pixel 3 days because of this reason.
Indeed standard DHL for private parcels does not allow for international shipping of dangerous goods, which includes devices including Lithium batteries What adds insult to the injury is the fact that this vital information is somewhat hidden and of course you are not informed when buying the parcel shipping (at least not online/via App)..... Don't ask why I know
Of course you can "play lottery" and hope the parcel is not caught .....
As alternatives apparently Hermes is a good as already pointed out, a bit more costly (but also faster) are UPS and also DHL Express....
Well, I went for the DHL Express Costs about 108€!!! My friend went to DHL and the guy suggested him to send with DHL Express.
Besides my P6, now I'm sure I'll sell the Pixel watch LTE too
Would have been easier and a lot cheaper to use a parcel forwarding service.
I ordered the phone from Google Store Germany, cost me like € 5 to get it delivered to Lithuania.
