Review of the Updated Poetic Guardian Case - Essential Phone Accessories

Hey Guys I bought the Poetic Guardian case from amazon. Been using it for a few days now. I can say without a doubt its the nicest rugged case for the Essential phone(even tho its slim pickins)

I really like that its rugged and has a nice lip but you can also see the really nice white color on the back. The screen protector is pretty good too. Nice and thick. No touch response issues at all. It does rainbow a tiny bit but its not super noticeable. All the cutouts are great, especially the fixed earpiece and notification light . The mic cutouts are great, the charging port is nice with a cover. The rubber around the edges(black color) has a nice grippy soft feeling to it. Overall I'm very happy with it. The lip protection is something I was really looking for. Overall I'd def recommend this case. My rankings are 1) poetic guardian and 2) tudia tamm case.

I'm using the Incipio DualPro Case. Are you familiar with that one? I'm curious how it compares with the two you mention . Most of the cases for this phone are pretty lousy. I like Spigen cases but they didn't bother making one for this phone. No Otterbox either and no belt clip holster. I had to mod an iPhone X belt clip. It's too bad accessories are so poor for this phone.

I had the dualpro for the HTC U11. It was pretty good. It wasnt very grippy at all. But it was a good case. Id say a big advantage on the poetic gurardian is it has a big lip around the screen and id bet u can pop out the built in protector and put in a glass one and it would stay. The dual pro and tudia im guessing would make the glass protectors pop off easy.

I've tried many of the cases for this phone. So far, I would have to say that this one is probably my favorite.
The only issue I have with it is the fact that the built-in screen protector seems to have no oleophobic coating, and is a horrible fingerprint magnet.
If anyone is interested, second place would go to :
https://www.amazon.com/Miubox-Anti-...2331854&sr=1-11&keywords=essential+phone+case
Only real problem with this one is that it doesn't have a built-in screen protector.
As for protection, this one I would say is best:
https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Fe...2331854&sr=1-19&keywords=essential+phone+case
However, it killed my GPS signal. I had some cell signal drop, which I expected since it is a metal case. I didn't expect the horrible drop in GPS though. If you don't care about GPS, and want a case you can throw against the wall and probably not hurt your phone, than go with this one.

My v2 poetic case screen protector is all scuffed up, but it still looks sharp.
Sent from my PH-1 using XDA Labs

I wish they would just make the Poetic Affinity for this phone and call it a day.

I love that there's a flap covering the USB slot in the phone. I work in construction, and I was always digging dirt, dust, concrete, and pocket lint out of my HTC U11 after work before I could even plug the charger in

This! Lol I also have this Guardian case. Had the v1 that didn't have the right cutout on top for the notification LED, got the revised version for free but didn't use it for more than a week. I'm not too keen on flaps covering charging ports. They almost always end up getting too loose over time and won't close fully again. I'd still use it had they used a tgsp instead of plastic for the screen cover.

I was thinking of that as I had some lying around but wasn't sure the case would still fit snugly or would just break from the pressure. How's it holding on now?

Working great after 3 days. 2 on the weekend weren't a surprise. But, had it in my pocket at the construction job, and did not have a single issue with screen protector popping

I see there is a "revised" version of this... looking for something similar to otterbox for my uncle. Seems like this poetic guardian or the Miubox are the only things similar to an otterbox (the poetic even more so).
anyone happen to have other suggestions or recommendations besides those two?

I'll have to put the Poetic back on and see if there's any noticeable difference. I usually can blame my poor signal on being with Sprint. Never thought about it being the device case.

I went to grab it last night after posting that and can't remember where the darn thing is. I know I set it aside somewhere safe, I just don't know WHERE...

The "revised" one I believe is just the corrected one with the LED finally showing on the earpiece portion of the front. I don't think there's any other revisions after that correction.

Found my Poetic case. It was in the box my other one came in. I'll see if I notice any signal strength differences tomorrow, since I'm working on the same job site

Judging solely on insanely improved battery life, I'm going to gurss that this case is better for signal strength than my other case.
My home wifi is also decent in places it was only so-so or completely absent before. Looks like that steel frame wasn't doing my reception any favors.

Rearth sent over to my offices the next line of slim cases for the Inspire 4G (other phones available from their online store at Rearth USA | Go ahead, judge us by the cover!), the Ringke Slim Case.
Just looking at the case gave me some doubts that this was just another ordinary eBay knock off. I was pretty wrong about that. The Rearth slim case is made of high end silicone that hugs your phone like nothing else.
Even the design and cut outs are made to be spot on. Not being intrusive to the design of the HTC Inspire 4G, the case is warm and welcoming.
The high end silicone is something to be desired. It allows for great grip around the phone entirely and fits it like a glove. If anything was to come close to this case as far as slim, it would be the Otterbox's. Nothing against the OB cases, but this is something better for those who don't like carrying around too much bulk.
For the money, it runs for $16.99. The Rearth Ringke slim case is well made and not bad for the price. Definitely a worth buy if your looking for quality, price and a nice slim cover for your phone.
Below are some images of how it compares in size to the OB Defender case.
I'm waiting for Rearth to send me their silicon case for review.
I'm currently using the Otterbox Commuter and Body Glove case so I'm interested in seeing how Rearth stacks up to those 2.

Gps works great without a case. Put on the tpu case and accuracy will go from 15 feet to 30 feet instantly, outside. Inside, will go from 30 feet to 200 feet .
It definitely doesn't like some cases.
i have a tpu and a snap on and it does not affect gps
Didn't want to make a separate thread so here goes ....
Just received my aqua black Ringke case from RearthUSA. Right off the bat I’m surprisingly pleased at the build quality. It’s perfect fitting in every sense of the word, a high quality silicon that feels very durable with a nice grip finish that gives you the added comfort that it won’t slip out of your hand that easily. The cut outs are precise and the extra lip around the camera lens provides added protection. This is arguably one of the best silicone cases I’ve ever used.
With all that said though, I personally am not a fan of silicon cases because of the overall flimsiness. While it does provide a nice snug fit, the sides are too easy to peel back which allows for all types of debris to accumulate and I’m also weary of how much protection it'll provide in case of a drop. Overall I’d have to give it a B+, not because of the quality, but because silicone is limited in how much protection it can provide.
If you’re a fan of silicone cases, this is definitely the Cabernet Sauvignon of the group.
Mine was shipped. Hopefully have it by the end of the week. Wanted orange, but it wasn't available.
Edit, I can't find a case I like. This will be my 6th case for my inspire. I went through about the same for my iPhone 4.
I got my case today, but they sent me a case for the Nexus S, I emailed Chuck to let him know I will review the case once they send out the right one. This has been a struggle, they sent the first one out and apparently they didn't put the right address or something because it got sent back to them, so they asked for my address again, and I got the case this time but the wrong one as I indicated, I guess we'll get it reviewed eventually

I agree! Only time will tell how it will protect against major drops, but so far mine is holding up great! I fell reasonably protected with the case and ZAGG screen protector.
I really like mine, but it gives me the same GPS problems as other cases do. The only case I have that doesn't cause GPS issues is the Seido Innocase.
I think there is something wrong with my phone, but at&t will not swap it out for me.
MY REVIEW
OK so I've had this case on my phone for a few days now and this is what I think of it.
BUILD/CUT QUALITY:***
This case is definitely well made, it is cut to perfection. It covers all the corners well and is cut perfectly around the speakers, mic, charger, headphone jack INDIVIDUALLY which is big for me since many covers just cut a big hole around the camera/speaker in the back and the mic/charger/3.5mm jack leaving too much exposed area for dirt to get in and wear away the case. The silicone hybrid that it is made of is definitely better than any out right now and hugs the phone perfectly, it even has a small lip to keep my screen off the surface. That being said it is still a silicone case not a TPU case so it is definitely softer and may not do as good a job of protecting the phone in case of a short drop, and only time will tell if it succumbs to the classic stretching of silicone cases.
Accessibility:*****
This case is perfect as far as accessibility goes. All port are easily accessible, the usb port has plenty room for any cable. The fact that all ports and holes are cut individually means that the 3.5 is cut with a small area around it for ure headphones. though all of my headphone jacks fit just fine some people with large or oddly shaped jacks may have trouble. All the buttons are covered but the case is soft enough that it takes no extra effort to press them, unlike the TPU case I had that was quite stiff and made pressing the buttons a bit annoying.
LOOKS AND FEEL:****
This feels amazingly natural. It is not rubbery and slides in and out of my pocket as easily as the real thing. The fact that It is so thin and snug is also a plus because it adds no bulk. As far as looks go I think its kinda cool that they indented the back cover ares and flash to keep that natural look, but personally I'm not entirely digging the flat look for my phone I think I would have preferred a little more gloss.
FINAL THOUGHTS :****
This case is definitely higher quality than the silicone case/hard case fishbone that i got first which stretched and ripped in the corners after a few months. This case is also better cut and has a better lip than the TPU I just took off my phone. The only thing I really wonder is how durable it since it's in its own category being thicker than silicone yet thinner than TPU. There is no better test than the test of time but from what I've seen so far I'm hopeful this case will be with me for a while.
too bad the noise cancelling mic is covered up by this case.
I've switched back to my Otterbox case. Only reason is because after a lot of use, the Ringke case starts to sag, and the phone becomes loose inside the case, leaving about .1mm of space. I personally don't like having a loose slip cover for a phone, and it becomes annoying.
Same here, I have since tossed mine in the trash and stuck with the Otterbox Commuter case. I dropped my phone with the Ringke case on and my phone chipped right above the flash lens. I didn't even notice it until I removed the Ringke case to clean it, I was so mad.
That would have never happened with Otterbox

Yoobao TPU+PC Case Review

Hi guys, I just wanted to give my review on the case that I've finally settled on! It took me forever to finally decide on a case, but I finally made my choice and I couldn't be happier. I originally had the Silicone case from the T-Mobile store, but that case just wasn't to my liking.
Up first is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/YOOBAO-TPU-case-Skin-Cover-HTC-Sensation-4G-Z710e-/220837531137?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item336af14e01
Nice price for a high quality case for sure. Item took me 9 days to get from the time I ordered it, which isn't at all bad considering it ships from Hong Kong and I'm in California.
The breakdown: this is a lightweight case (AKA not a competitor to the Case Mate Tough and similar heavy-duty cases) that is made out of 2 materials. It is both TPU and Polycarbonate (plastic). The parts that are plastic are where the 2 wedge-shaped pieces on the back of the phone are (above and below the swoosh).
My review: my primary reason for getting a new case was because the T-Mobile gel case was too loose. It felt like a pair of baggy pants on a skinny kid (Take it from a skinny person that that feeling is really uncomfortable). First up is the packaging:

Nice packaging, comes with a screen protector and cloth inside (I haven't put the screen protector on yet so I'll report on that later). The most noticeable things about the packaging are the comical errors in grammar and spelling, but I couldn't care less about that when I like the product .
I read good things about TPU cases being much tighter than Silicone, and the Yoobao case is certainly a good example of that. Out of the box, it is much more resistant to flexing and takes a bit of an effort to actually put the phone into. BIG plus for me. It's very form fitting and tight on the phone. It's also a thin case, which was instantly noticeable because in the hand it feels more like a naked Sensation than the T-Mob case did. That's not to say it provides no protection, because the combination of TPU and PC makes it feel quite strong for a thin case. Also, let's be honest that most people looking for thin TPU cases aren't looking for the most hardcore in protection. I'm sure the Yoobao will do fine in minor drop situations.
The cutouts on this case are close to perfection.
The headphones jack is fine for the headphones I use. It's about the same size that the cutout on the T-Mob case is.
The cutouts on the top half. As you can see, Yoobao included cutouts for every place where they are needed. 2 things I really like here: the first, that the cutouts are perfectly placed (the mic holes are perfectly centered in each cutout, which is rare), the second, that there is a separate cutout for the camera and the flash. Most cases have one big hole for both the camera and the flash, and the fact that this has individual cutouts exudes quality.
Cutouts at the bottom. This is a pretty bad picture because the mic holes are better centered than the pic makes it look like. Again, nice that they have individual cutouts.
Terrible picture, I know, but I just wanted to show that even the bottom mic hole has a cutout (which like the others is perfectly aligned).
This is the ONLY thing I don't like about the case. While (looking at the cutout from this orientation) the left and right sides of the cutout provide plenty of space, the top part is just barely too thick.
As you can see from the bump, it's just a little too tight for the charger. It's still easy to get the charger in, it's just that it pushes the TPU up right there.
It's a very minor issue, and I'm sure you could easily take a knife to it to make it fit better. This is legitimately the only thing I would change about this case.
The looks:
The looks of this case were probably the main reason I chose it over others. I personally wanted a light case that preserves the looks of the naked Sensation as much as possible, and I don't think you can do any better than this case. I obviously went with the black model, but there is also a white model. The TPU is translucent, and in decent light the case is a dark smoked color (it's really only in low light that it looks completely black). Really sexy color, and it's awesome that you can see the htc logo on the back. The other main case I looked at was the Qubits one that is very popular, but I liked how the Yoobao allows you to see the actual swoosh and htc on the back, rather than an opaque black swoosh that merely imitates the phone. The plastic pieces are so well done that they look just like the phone underneath.
I thought that this picture demonstrated how smooth the transition is from PC to TPU. It's really only a transition that you can feel; you can't see it because it's so smooth.
Other things to note:
The TPU comes up over the lip around the phone like most cases do. It's thin, so when you place the phone face down the screen is just barely off the surface. I didn't include this as a negative thing because I don't have any personal experiences with other cases other than the T-Mob one (which definitely does provide a bigger lip), and I've also heard that TPU cases don't give as much a lip as Silicone cases do.
The power button is harder to press down, but I also didn't include this as a negative because I've heard the same about many TPU cases. The volume rocker also takes a little bit more effort. Both of them are covered by clear TPU that isn't smoked, so it's kinda cool that they are showing off the metal pieces on the phone.
It's not as grippy as a pure silicone case because it can slide around a bit on the plastic parts. I personally think it's grippy enough and enjoy how easy it is to slide in my pants.
Summary: this case is about as good as a lightweight case can get. If you aren't looking for hardcore protection, I absolutely recommend the Yoobao case. It looks great, feels great, adds minimal bulk, fits tightly, and has near-perfect cutouts. IMO no other case out there does a better job of preserving the Sensation's design, and no other case can match how well done the cutouts other than the USB cutout are. I might buy another one just to have an extra because I like it so much. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
It's just like any other tpu "twill design" cases. It's just branded that's all.
Nice review. I got one that is unbranded. Don't use it no more.

Ahh just noticed the difference. The matte covers the top and the bottom where the Yoobao doesn't.
Does the screen protector cover the whole front glass? or just he visible screen?
Sorry to hijack your thread but I do have a white one for sale for weeks but one person asked about it and never followed through. The one I have was never used. I just put it on for testing purposes, but ended up not using it. The fs thread is in the marketplace here or you can PM me for details. I don't want to detract the thread by posting pics and such .

Great detailed review my friend!
can't link yet, but go to amazon.com and type in "HTC SENSATION 4G / SENSATION XE GEL SKIN CASE"
is this suppose to be the same case??
I just got these case myself last week. I love the fact that it fits inside my OEM HTC Leather case. I had to apply little shoe stretch on the sides. But the phone fits perfectly. I was considering the expensive Seidio case and holster...but the Yoobao TPU & Screensaver and the OEM leather case were a great deal at about $20 shipped total on ebay.

Not sure what you're talking about. The Yoobao case covers the top and bottom just like any other case (it wraps around the front at all sides, providing a lip around the whole phone just like most other cases). And I haven't tried the screen protector yet.
Great Review!
I actually was considering this case, but the Yoobao was a big turn off for me. Has anyone found a way to cover up/scratch it off?
I am sure Goof off would take it off.

I must add something, the screen protector that comes with this Yoobao cover fits the screen a 100% and with a little heat and dust free environment applies perfectly.
I just receive mine today and quickly put the OtterBox Commuter in my drawer.
I must thanks the OP, this is an awesome purchase.

I know I said I was going to do an update when I installed the screen protector; obviously I put that off for a long time. Anyways I did install it and it's exactly like you describe. Applied incredibly easily, no bubbles, fits perfectly, and it even has a little bit of a cutout for the light sensor. Awesome screen protector to complement an equally awesome case.
Just wanted to give this a little bump to update and for others to see this review who haven't yet.
I bought this case; did anyone try removing the yoobao logo with goo-off? if not, i'll guess i'll be the 1st one to try since i bought a clear(white) case and have a white beats back case to go with it....

I've had past success with goo gone. The goo off is the more paint thinner smelling than the goo gone right? I recently took off the Aprolink logo from my hybrid case.
The goo gone is the one that smells like citrus. I use that stuff to take off adhesives from car finishes as well.

Poll: Spigen Slim Armor vs. Speck Candyshell vs. Otterbox Commuter

Hey guys,
Got a poll up and looking for feedback on what you guys think of these cases. They are all similar to each other in the sense that they have a plastic outer shell with a soft hybrid inner shell. All of them come in white and they range from $25-35 dollars. Personally I'm between the Spigen and Speck but I wanted to throw in the otterbox as another option. If you guys have something else in mind also let me know.
Thanks for the feedback guys,
JD
1) Spigen Slim Armor - $25 (Really love the price and i believe the speak grill is raised to allow for better sound transfer, not 100% sure)
2) Speck Candyshell - $35
3) Otterbox Commuter - $35

Forgot to mention, that they all have rubber at certain points on them so if anyone has used these, how are they with pocket lint?
I'll have a review of the Speck Candyshell up later today. I have both the Candyshell and Candyshell Grip.
Here's my review of the Slim Armor: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262605
All three are very nice cases. The Otterbox and Candyshell offer the best protection. The lip on the Slim Armor is very low, but the trade off is the case is very slim. Personally, I would get the Candyshell or Slim Armor. The Otterbox is very durable though, and if you need the absolute best protection, get it.

Oops, I added some more info to my other post
Is the speaker grill on the slim armor raised to allow it to sound good even when placed with the screen up?

It's pretty flush. I attached a few pictures that should show the grill and how the phone lies.

Spigen are #### ing idiots!
They could have easily made the lip a little larger for better front protection but noooooooooooo.
They probably just made the case like that to try and squeeze more money out of customers to buy their screen protectors as well
Spigen doesn't deserve any of our money for this greedy design flaw!
That was disappointing to find that out, i'm probably leaning towards the speck case now.
The Spigen Slim Armor, slim cases look the best. Personally i'm going commando with mine. I just can't put my phone in a case it makes it look worse and i like it look and be thin. It fits my pocket better. But if your a builder or trades working. I good case is a must..

As I mentioned in the other thread you posted this in, it's called the "Slim Armor" for a reason. It isn't meant to be a bulky, full protection case.

And I'll respond to both in kind: If your case has the word "armor" in it... then it should be able to protect the screen from smashing if its dropped
A little bit more lip would have completely taken care of this problem and allowed it to maintain it's slimness.
They definitely won't get a dime from me, as I will be returning mine, and I encourage others to not purchase from them for making so obvious a cash grab design flaw.

Armor =/= massive lip
Just like Otterbox =/= case made out of otter.

If you aren't going to keep yours, and you're going to get a full refund, why do you continually bash this case?
A design flaw is something that blocks actual function, like some of the HTC One cases that cover the IR blaster/power button. This case was specifically designed to be as thin as possible.
I'm not going to bash the Otterbox Defender because I think it's too bulky, I just won't buy it. Some people want that kind of protection. On the other side, some people want a very low lever of protection.
I just bought the Speck candy shell case at Best Buy as I didn't want to take my new phone to work without any protection. So far I like it. The fit is nice and tight, the rubberised buttons feel good, and the raised lip around the screen allows you to put the phone face down without scratching the glass. I also like the fact that the majority of the case is shiny so it slips into a pocket much more easily than the T-Mo TPU case I have for my original Galaxy S. I'm still going to get one of the Spigen glass screen protectors to go with it, but it'll do without for a couple of days more.
Another plus for Speck is they seem to have some more feminine colours. The Spigen cases are all black + one other colour, which doesn't look right with a white phone in my opinion. The Speck case I bought is white with turquoise and looks pretty sharp. It's also feminine without being pink
Hinduboy, with regard to pocket lint, it's not a total lint magnet like some cases, but it definitely picks up a bit. It seems to be quite attractive to cat fur!

Not difficult at all. It's less flexible than a regular TPU case, but since the front lip is all TPU it comes off pretty easily if you need to get to the battery or SD card.

I did see that they have those cases at BBY but i was hoping they had the white/grey combo they only had the black and white/blue one. I might just end up ordering it through amazon. I've been using the platinum series white plastic case in the mean time.
What about the Spigen Neo Hybrid, Case-Mate Tough, or Incipio DualPro (Regular & Shine Versions)? They are very comparable to the cases mentioned above.

Review of 3 cases

I've now tried 3 cases purchased from Amazon, all good in their own way.
Terrapin TPU gel case £5.25. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014H39MWM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
(I got the smoke black, which doesn't seem to be there anymore).
Good fit, cutouts work although if I was being picky I'd say they maybe are a tiny bit off center. The volume and camera keys are covered with buttons on the case that work but could be easier to use. The power button feels a bit deep in the shell, due to the 2mm or so thickness of gel. Seems to offer very good protection, best of the 3. Case comes slightly above the screen, so protecting it if you lay it face down. Adds moderate bulk to the phone.
Roxfit Titanium shell £10.09. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015EFMB3O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
Bit misnamed, it's plastic with what looks like a metal insert in the back. Very good fit (in fact difficult to get the phone back out). It exposes a lot more more of the sides of the phone (all of the top, bottom, and the buttons area on the right) than the Terrapin, but still gives very good protection and makes use of the buttons easier. Corners are well protected and the case comes up over the screen, protecting it if you lay it face down. It feels pretty sturdy overall. It looks premium from the back with the gold insert, although the plastic around it maybe less so. Thinner round the sides than the Terrapin but bulkier at the back.
Easydigital hard back £2! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014UYKXD0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
The cheapest of the 3, and although you can tell it's actually pretty good. Very light and thin, adds the least bulk to the phone. It's the hard plastic type of case as opposed to the gel Terrapin. It's completely clear and because it's so thin, it actually looks better on the phone than the others (in my opinion) as the phone basically looks as it normally does. The top and bottom are exposed as on the Roxfit, there are cutouts for the buttons on the right, as the case is so thin this doesn't affect their use. One point to note - if you use the cord attachment hole on the left of the phone, you can't use this case as it doesn't have a cutout for it. It offers the least protection, the corners are just covered and it only just comes above the screen. At the moment I have a plastic protector, but when the tempered glass one turns up this will probably be proud of the case. The fit is about 99% - the phone moves a tiny fraction within the case, which I'm sure could be solved with a tiny sliver of rubber in there - although to be honest I'm being very picky and it's not really a problem to live with it.
Note - none of the cases have a cutout for the sim/micro sd cover, not an issue for me.
I'm currently using the easydigital, I'll see how it works when the glass screen cover turns up.
Great info!
Could you put a picture of the phone with the last case?
I was deciding between "Orzly FlexiSlim Smoked Black" and "Orzly Bumper Case Clear" (My Z5C will be Black).
Now found my favourite - Orzly FlexSlim Case. £6.99.
It gives pretty reasonable protection but adds minimal bulk. It's a gel type case, cutouts are spot on and don't get in the way of any of the buttons. It won't give as much protection as the Roxfot or terrapin above, but enough for me. I got the white, which looks good on the black phone. I've now got a tempered glass screen protector, this case is probably a fraction of a mm above it so still protects it face down.
I can't see changing away from this now, it's better than any case I found for the Z3C (had the Devilcase, which gave good protection but was a bit bulky and very expensive).
I buy and use this

Definitely improved. It's not as rubbery/sticky as some, it's a sort of matt plastic/rubber finish, but no issues with grip.

I'm trying to decide what color (smokey black / smokey white) would look better on a black z5c. Opinions?
Edit:
Sorry, I just read your previous comment about your color of choice. Could you possibly share some pictures of your phone with the case on?
I have the smoky black. But I still prefer a 100% clear cover.
Today I started using the phone naked. I've been 3 weeks with the flexislim.

Haha well that depends on what're you looking for.
I bought this case to protect the phone from scratches during the 30 days for Amazon returns.
The case is really slim so it won't protect the phone against drops. But it adds some distance to the screen edge (more thickness to the phone) so it could separate your screen from the floor in a potential drop.
I like more the other Orzly solution. The crystal clear bumper. But it's a bit bigger than the flexislim

Thanks man!
Yeah I know that it won't protect against drops because of how slim it is.
That is actually why I'm interested in this case, cause I don't want any bulk. I'm just looking for better grip I guess to prevent drops.
Mmm the grip isn't great.
The typical (and tick) generic 100% TPU cases have a much better grip. This TPU case it's like smooth.
Sent from my E5823
How is the grip in the Terrapin tpu case?
I'm looking at the crystal clear terrapin tpu.
The volume buttons are covered right? (I don't like that).
S-Line
I am also looking for the ideal case with 2 main criteria: slim and grippy.
I usually go for genuine S-Line cases by Cimo USA but unfortunately they don't make cases for Sony devices.
I got a copy on Amazon. I can't post the link, not enough posts.
If you really want to see the exact one, search "Sony Xperia Z5 Compact - S-Style noir - Cover PhoneNatic" on Amazon.fr or .de.
I've seen several similar designs, but slightly different: different camera hole shape, fully mat back...
I will try to shrink it with the boiling water method.
If you know a good slim and grippy case, please share .
I've gotten a handful of cases coming in the mail, mind if I add them in here once I receive them?

Hi ewans,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread - but I have just ordered my Z5C. I was going to get the terrapin or Casemate Barely There - but would like to hear your view on why the Orzly is better than terrapin.
Thanks!
i got this, and it's great

Spigen [Thin Fit] [Black] Premium Matte Finish Hard Case [Amazon]

This is my short take on this new case I just received today. I like it because it is thin. The cut outs are clean and centered. The back has a soft touch plastic feel so it helps with grip. Finger prints do show on the case (some people with dry hands will not have an issue. My hands are normally moist.) but can be easily wiped away.
Normally the hybrid cases with PC (polycarbonate) on the back and TPU on the sides that cover the buttons give them a mushy feeling when pressed. It is hard to tell if you pushed the button all the way down or not. So with the cut outs for the power and volume button, this problem is eliminated. The plastic which separates the two buttons help me to identify each button quickly. I also found the buttons were unintentionally pressed a lot when I didn't have the case. I don't have this issue anymore. I would recommend this case for anyone who wants protection against scratches. It won't protect the phone against high drops. There is no cushion or air pockets to protect the phone. But this is exactly what these thin cases are for, scratch protection and protection against small bumps. I bought it at Amazon. I ordered it around noon Pacific Time and it was shipped after two hours. I was pleased with the speedy handling.

Update...this sounds silly but the case seems to make the phone feel heavier to me. But the added weight feels good in the hand. The case by itself is not heavy. Not sure why I feel this way...
Update # 2: 24 hours later, I am still loving this case. The finger print scanner cut out is the perfect size. I have not had any issues unlocking my phone. I actually wanted a clear case but this black color is starting to grow on me. With the camera visor being glossy black and the case being flat black, it adds a stealth look along with providing some contrast.
Update # 3: The case's matte finish does not create too much friction when inserting the phone into your jean packet or pulling it out. This is a plus.

Seems many buyers on Amazon would disagree with you. Three main things I don't like about the Ringke:
1) I don't really like the feel of the case
2) Its a fingerprint magnet, unlike anything I've ever experienced.
3) The front edges are kind of sharp which can make it a little uncomfortable to hold against my ear while on the phone.
If only Otterbox made the Symmetry series for the Nexus 6p and all my future phones, I'd never have to shop around for cases again.
This case is pretty excellent - feels grippy & solid

Lol I was going to say that many buyers on Amazon would disagree with you about Ringke, but I guess you know that buyers go with the flow most of the time. All of what you said is true for the Rugged Armor, which are the reasons why I don't like it. And also it is sand magnet too. That's my real life feedback. I am sure the Amazon buyers will disagree

Ultimately I can just return it if I dont like it. The inconvenience of owning an unpopular phone and being unable to try a product hands on before purchase, but at least Amazon has a solid return policy.

I am not a fan of cases either and will probably remove it once the phone isn't new to me anymore (in 3 months?) But I can't wait for the super thin one that the others are chatting about from Huawei. I want to ensure my phone doesn't scratch considering the metal body. Good luck.

OP, a question to you: do you think the case will accomodate one of those thin metal plates attached to the back plate on the inside, to use with a magnetic car mount? Like this:
The plate should be very slim, only about 0,5-1mm in thickness. Do you think this will work? Any way you could test this out for me even, by sticking something of approx. that thickness in between the back and case?
Thanks in advance!

I'm really enjoying this case as well. I agree with all the OP'sthoughts especially about fixing the sensitive button presses. Overall very happy with the thiness, fit and soft touch. Also purchased thisNexus 6P Case, Monoy High Quality Ultra Thin Matte Black Hard case Cover for Huawei (Google) Nexus 6P 5.7" Devices (2015) (Black Hard Case) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0168B7RIM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_5XZtwbS5G6308 which is also nice. Very thin but covers most of the visor and has a textured soft touch finish. I did end up using the spigen but may switch. The other case doesn't have an issue with fingerprints.

Very thin but covers most of the visor and has a textured soft touch finish. I did end up using the spigen but may switch. The other case doesn't have an issue with fingerprints.

Thanks for the info. Which one is thinner between the two?

Without using any tool for measurement they seem to be identical in thinness. Only notable differences between the two would be the visor cover, soft touch finish, and the spigen has a piece that separates the volume and power buttons. Either of these things can be taken as a plus or minus depending on personally preference. If you're deciding between the two the Monoy case shipped and arrived faster.
i wish there was a clear version of this
i dont think i like the idea that the entire top glass is exposed like that. seems like a good place to get scratched

There is a tiny lip so the glass does not contact the surface if placed glass side down. I think you need a screen protector if you're worried.
