Hey guys, I've been playing with the phones setup for a few days now figuring everything out and how it works, and I noticed the left fingerprint sensor isn't half as sensitive as the right one. Anybody else notice this?
I've tried setting up the sensors to be back on the left sensor and home on the right one and the home works perfectly, but the back on the left works only 10% of the time. (I am left handed so I try to use the thumb/left for back).. A software update will fix this I'm sure (If it IS software related, and not a faulty phone I have.)
I think I have this set up in the wrong section??? Moderators could you move it please if it is. Thanks!

Actually, my fp scanner are perfectly fast (and equal).
Try to remove both configurations or reset the firmware - it might be a hardware issue that requires you to send it back!
Cheers
Hi guys,
I'm the owner of a Vivo NEX S and I love it. (Except some crappy options and bad translation of funtouchOS but overall when you've setting it up and remove all vivo stuff it's really optimized and not laggy at all)
But since three days the fingerprint scanner and the lockscreen behaved weirdly and since today the Fingerprint scanner stopped working. This morning when I've woken up, I've taken my phone and I tried to unlock it but it was behaving weirdly like the green light was working but it didn't try to scan my finger and it was directly saying an error but I've used it a bit and didn't care much attention to it in first place but 2 hours later it made the same strange behaviour and it fed me up so I've rebooted it and the Fingerprint icon never reappeared. In the lockscreen settings the "Use Fingerprint" is grayed out and it says "Fingerprint authentification error. Restart the device or contact customer service."
I've tried to :
-Wipe Cache (from recovery)
-Restore setting (from recovery)
-use the system repair option that download the last available firmware (from recovery)
-wipe data (from recovery
-to re-calibrate InDisplayfgp from Engineer menu (ussd code *#558#) but it says me "No ic detected"
-reboot like 8393771820 times
I've also like to add that I've dropped my device a couple of time, even changed my rear glass back by myself but I never took it apart and one month ago I've managed to drop it from my window (3,5-4meter height) :silly: when I was visiochatting (with the camera popped out) but happily and miraculy :victory: nothing cracked and it still look pretty new (it was in a Aliexpress case) and to this time the device continued to work normally, snappy as hell like a warrior to these days.
Today, the device is normal, still snappy except the Fingerprint who discontinued to work. I think that the last drop from the window desoldered bga chip of the fingerprint reader but it is just self expectations. Now the device still not turned off and I'm waiting to kill the last percent of the battery to see how it react after this. I think it may be hardware but this morning the fact that he was working a bit is driving me crazy.
Why do you guys think, what I should do?
Do you think it's a software or hardware issue?
Sorry for bad english guys, Nex-enthousiast from France.

Sounds like it's a hardware issue due to dropping it multiple times and/or doing your own repairs. Or maybe some of the so called bloat you removed was actually essential?
Hello,
I've worked in a small repair shop in my town so no worries I know what I did,
I just removed the last rear glass to replace it, I didn't removed screw, warranty label or anything on the phone. (But if you have already taken a nex in your hand you directly see that the rear replaced glass is a copy)
I've noticed when I'm on the instructions menu to "How to use Idfp" it's making little cracking noise like the scanner try to focus because we all know it's a small camera under the screen.
I don't think it's a software issue because all bloatware that I disabled was facing me no issues about the Idfingerprint in the last 6 months.
Yesterday I was wondering, how to see all available services even ones that are not running ? And how to re-launch some ones?
I'm gonna try to contact Vivo by mail and I'll explain my problem and that I changed my rear glass to see how they manage to help me.
If it's not working, I'll be trying to take apart the daughterboard where the Idfp scanner is located.
UPDATE : I just slap my phone from behind (no jokes) and it seems to re-work fine so it's kinda resolved, I think it's the ribbon connector of the scanner, if it's failing another time I will manage to reconnect it to the daugtherboard and see how it goes

That sounds like what happened to my Huawei P10. I dropped it just once and when I open the camera it's blurry. I have to give it a strong tap for it to focus properly.
Update : It's stopped working or working like 3 times on 54
Anyone knows where I can buy a new fingerprint reader ?
I checked eBay, Aliexpress and others sites but I can only find screen or others parts but not the actual fingerprint reader
I even contacted Vivo by mail but they said me that I need to get to a local service store and I can't cause I'm in France.
Your scanner could just be disconnected considering you dropped the phone a few times. If you could open up the phone you'd be able to check. I've never done it so I can't help but this video might get you started >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-lIsNoM39w

Hi Saloei, thanks for answering but I've already opened my phone and checked if the ribbon connector wasn't disconnected however it didn't change anything.. :crying: I think the problem is coming from the bga chip that manage the scanner, it might be desoldered a bit, that can explain the fact that it's working 1/5 times.
Update : I've just opened my phone another time and I've manage to take pictures of it and read the QR CODE on the chip. I've also learned that the fingerprint scanner is made by Goodix, I've contacted them but no responses.. sorry for flooding but does anyone knows to how to find it from this code (from qr 7Q7988XB03VG )
Or this picture? Thanks ?
It happened to me because I changed the dpi from 540 to 360. FP scanner works well, but everytime you restart your phone in non-default dpi the FP scanner stops working.
Solution is to
1. Restore the stock dpi
2. Restart the phone and then
3. Change the dpi according to your preference.
Repeat all this on every restart.
I'm three months late to this thread. I also have this issue with my current vivo phone which has an in display FP scanner (IQOO). It happened to me because I had disabled almost all of the bloatware apps. If you restore those apps through adb or by factory resetting the FP scanner will work again.
Thanks.

Hello Timvonlee, do you had an error of fingerprint authentification in settings?
How do I restore bloatware apps through Adb ?
I've already tried factory reset.
Thanks for answering

Thanks, but I think it will do nothing because I've already factory reset it and it does the same thing exept it restore all from factory.
Hi Nexers, I have a Vivo Nex S Chinese Version (living in Europe). Unfortunately I dropped the phone back in February and my screen went black. I ordered a new screen on Taobao which then took roughly three months to get here. So I finally assembled the new display last weekend, everything works perfectly except the fingerprint reader. The reader seems to be not recognized because in the settings tab every fingerprint option is grayed out. Currently I’m troubleshooting, everything seems to be plugged in correctly. Could this be because of a link between display and fingerprint sensor (security issiue)? Does somebody has experienced something like this?
Thank you
Cheers
I just experienced the same thing.
I had my phone om yesterday, everything worked just fine.
The phone ran out of power and when I got home I plugged it in for the night. This morning the scanner did not recognize my finger, and I figured I would re add my fingerprints, but upon removing Them the option is now grayed out and I cannot add or use fingerprints.
The options menu says "Fingerprint authentication error. Restart the device or contact custommer service."
I have of course restarted the phone, and the engineering menu also says "IC not found"...
No drops or anything for me... Any ideas?
Hi guys, I haven't seen your messages until today, now I still didn't found any website that are selling these. I'm starting to lose patience and hope..

Hi guys, exactly the same problem for m'y vivo nex s... Same conditions, as Lyngze no drops, the fingerprint scanner just stoped working one day, after removing the memorised fingerprints, the option menu turns gray with same message.
Is anybody found à solution ?
I've also the same problem
I had some RSI problems with my hand so I've used my phone with my other hand for a few months.
In this period i didn't used the FP reader. When I start using my phone with my normal hand the FP reader doesn't work anymore??
I also got the message: Fingerprint authentication error. Restart the device or contact customer service
Hey guys, sorry to up my old topic, but like 2 months ago, sound from the speaker started to make weird noises and stopped working like 1 week later. Same for the vibration motor and it was a pain to charge the battery. But I noticed when I was pushing on the back cover, sound was working a bit so I took appart the back cover and started jiggling the flex connector that was between the motherboard and the daughter board. I tought that the soldering circuit inside the flex connector was faulty. So I ordered a flex connector on aliexpress, just received it this morning and put it in my phone. And guess what! Sound, vibration, charging and also THE FINGERPRINT READER worked fine !
Wow that's great!
Which one did you buy?
https://a.aliexpress.com/_BU2sS3 don't know if I can publish Ali links but it's the nex pcb fpc one and it's sold by SK Store
I just made the same mistakes as you and I have solved it.
Sorry . My English is bad. I am faulty like you and I replaced 2 cables in the phone. Is it working. It is two wires connecting the charging board to the main circuit. I think you are like that. You try to find 2 strings that and replace.
So, what the title says, I just downloaded it from xpirifirm and Installed it using flashtool, am hoping to fix the problem with voice messages from WhatsApp and messenger as well (basically 1 in 10 voice messages I send go silent in the middle of the recording), there is not a changelog from Sony but they never give any so I hope this could be more than just a security patch, I want to know if any of you have installed it and if you have noticed any fix, thanks, If I find out something I will tell you. Thanks for reading.
Well, sadly I couldn't fix the issue with the voice notes, but I disabled the "ok Google" feature from the Google assistant and I haven't had any problem with voicenotes anymore, let's see if it stays like that.
It didnt solved the problem, I plan to go back to android 9
Does not feel any fix, but so frustrating 'couse battery capability is much much worse...
I think the fingerprint at least is faster and more reliable.

I fixed the voice messages disabling the feedback tactile of 3 under screen buttons
Did the upgrade change your GPS functionality? Since the day I updated, my phone started drifting. I have 25 kilometers displacement on a day staying permanently at my home office. Compared to 0.5 kilometers before the update.
I didn't understand how you fixed the voice messages, can you be more specific?
Hey guys, it's July 9th and the last firmware released for xperia xz2 is 52.1.A.2.1, will Sony stop supporting this device or what? Btw my cellphone has now a ghost touch.

Same for me! Just about a week or so, I am annoyed by the quick settings bar being occasionally pulled from top while typing on the keyboard or working in apps. With the "Show taps" option turned on from the developer settings, I can clearly see that the device sometimes detects an extra tap (draws the corresponding circle) at the very top of the screen right after I tap somewhere else. This activates the system bar and switches the focus from the app. This only happened before with the screen very dirty or wet (i.e. in the rain). However, this time cleaning it and rebooting the system didn't help. My initial idea was that I could have damaged the screen sensors or other hardware somehow. But this might be instead a planned action to support the upcoming models' sales Interestingly, there was no software update accompanying the behaviour change — seems like there are some remotely controlled sensor options their engineers could be playing around.

Thanks for sharing your experience, well I still have the ghost touch but now occurs more often and I have had another issue since some months ago ad well and tje thing is that sometimes the proximity sensor "detects" it's being covered and makes the screen flash several times during a call or hearing voice notes in whatsap, sometimes the failure is as bad that I have to restart the phone, I don't know what could be causing this problem but I have to say that I have dropped some water in my cellphone in the past two or three times, and I don't know, maybe some of this water came into the phone through the earpiece and messed with the upper part of the screen and the other sensor up there, my phone os almost a year old now, Do you guys think it might mot be water resistant anymore? And btw, have you dropped water in the phone as well? Thanks for reading.
Anybody get the fingerprint enrollment to work without sending phone back to OnePlus. I have tried just about every fix I can find on other threads with no success. I installed the latest OS 11.0.5.6 AA and I think it got worse. Can't even run the calibration tests. My fingerprint has been broken since I got the phone new from OnePlus. I don't really use it at the present but it would be nice to have working if I decide to sell phone later.
By broken do you mean its not detecting your fingerprint? are you using a screen protector? If you send it to OnePlus with a Lock on it they will refuse it and probably keep it if they follow Sammys practices...
never gets to the point of detecting fingerprint. just error message that enrollment not complete.
Is this only in the first set up screen or even when you go through the settings to ass fingers?
The only issue I have with my FP reader is sometimes when I first unlock the phone I have to place my finger/thumb directly center and use relatively firm pressure to get it to unlock. If I relock the phone (using double tap, or the power button) and then double tap to unlock right away the reader works much better. I am not sure why it only appears less reliable after the phone has been locked for some time...( i have not done any time lock experiments). Also, after the phone is unlocked and I use the FP reader for anything else...like a banking app, of whatever else...it works flawlessly and responds very quickly as expected. I am not sure why it only acts "funny" after being locked for some time. It's almost like something is going into a deep sleep while being locked???
At any rate, what you are describing sounds much different, even though it might somehow be related to the whole FP reader issues. If mine was acting as bad as your I would demand a return, repair, refund...whatever it takes to get the issue fixed.
Got it to work. I had pulled persist img when I first received the phone and unlocked. I flashed the old persist.img using fastbootd and got fingerprint to enroll. I use a tempered glass screen protector and it took awhile to get it enrolled but works good now that I have a fingerprint entered.
Hello,
I have this phone for near 1 year and I always had this problem.
The problem is not happening very often but it happens by time on time.
It was happening more often before, when the phone stays with locked screen for a longer period.
But now it happens whenever it wants and I can't understand what could be the issue.
Maybe some process is failing by my opinion.
So the problem is that sometimes when I put my finger on the fingerprint icon on the screen while the phone is locked, nothing is happening, the fingerprint icon is not active and it doesn't read my finger. So I need to enter my pincode, the fingerprint sensor is just not working at all. When I unlock the phone with pincode and then lock it, the fingerprint is now working, until sometime later.
I'll be very thankful if someone can help me with this.
Thank you!

I believe that's by design. After a certain amount of time you're asked to login using you password. Once you've entered your password the timer gets reset.
I've seen this on other phones and it also happens on both of my 8Ts.

Thank you, Bill. This kinda answers my question, too bad there is no security option to define if you want this or no.
On my OP 8T the fingerprint stopped working well after gluing the protective glass. Without the glass it works fine.
