am facing a weird issue with my pixel 2. Whenever the phone is in idle state I dont receive any calls or sms.
For e.g. if I just made a call and kept the phone down. And there was nothing that I received for next 20 to 30 mins. The phone shows its switched off. I cant receive any calls or even sms. This resolves when i restart and then work for next 30 to 60 mins and problem reappears. Really frustrating.
I tried the sim in my samsung and it works great. So defn not a provider issue. Not sure if its a volte issue as i tried using an alternate sim and network wont detect in pixel 2. The network in same as original VOLTE enabled.
I reset my phone twice also reset the network settings. Tried using the 4636 menu to change radio mode. All of it works for 5 6 hrs and the problem returns.
I spoke to the google technician he seemed helpful but asked me to try all things which I already did. Any idea what it could be?
I am on the march patch smaller pixel 2.

Hi and thank you in advance,
Since getting my Inspire 4g I've had a problem calling people. (before and after root). When I settle on a contact and hit call, I get a beep and get disconnected before any ringtone happens. I have to do this about five or six times until I can actually connect with who I have to call.
This happens when I have full service.

If it happened before you rooted I'd take it back for a new device.
If you've already rooted, here are a few things I had to do when I was having this problem:
1. Turn off mobile data. This seemed to restore voice 100%
2. Switch to GSM Only, rather than GSM/WCDMA auto. If this works the way it's supposed to, you should only get EDGE data, but voice will be 100%
3. Change your ro.ril.hsxpa value in build.prop to =1. This will disable HSUPA, but you'll still have HSDPA.
I used to have this problem ALLLLLLLL the time on multiple ROMs, multiple Radios. For the last week and a half or so I was running android revolution 4g 3.2, with ro.ril.hsxpa=1, and did not have the problem once. Yesterday I flashed to revolution HD 4.0 b4, along with the recommended radio, and have not had any issues dialing or receiving calls (although 1 call did drop, but I blame that on my mom having no idea how to use a cell phone). The ro.ril.hsxpa is currently set to 2.
At first it appeared to be an issue that was occurring after HSUPA was utilized, but if it was happening to you on stock, that can't be the case because ATT hasn't turned on HSUPA in the stock ROM yet.
This is my second G2x and both have exhibited the same behavior. It will dial a number, whether from the phonebook or the dialer itself, and the phone application will say that it is dialing. After 30 seconds or so, and no ringing on the other end of the line, the call ends itself.
I usually have to enable Airplane mode, then disable it, to be able to make a call. sometimes I have to go as far as rebooting the phone completely after which it may or may not work. Incoming calls fail as well so I am missing quite a few calls and texts...but thhe emails and other data messages come through.
Oddly, data works perfectly regardless of whether the phone is having problems calling. This happens in 2g as well as 4g. I have manually selected 2g and could not call and had the same trouble in WCDMA only mode. I thought it was related to Wifi calling but enabling that has no effect.
Any ideas? I am trying my other line to see if that SIM card is having trouble. I just have no other ideas at this point.

I used to have this problem frequently on my MT3G. Since someone else is having this problem on a different phone, I would guess that it's something software related.
Alright, it is happening on both of my lines. It might be a program that I installed so I am loading them back on one at a time to see if can determine which it is. I am looking at either Google Voice or Beautiful Widgets as likely culprits at this time but there is not certainty. I have also avoided installing Facebook and Twitter. I am able to make calls right now. I will see if this keeps working for the next few hours...maybe through to my morning coffee. I really hope it is an application, something I can do without, because it would be pretty bad if it is the phone. My girl just ordered one of these as well since she likes mine so much.

Happened to me twice today, first in the AM and then again around 2200 central time. i recently started using setcpu so not sure if thats an issue or not. anyone find the app responsible?
Yes, it has happened to me too, usually after it is in standby or idle, and this is my second phone. But my second phone not happens as often as the first one. Reboot is the only way I can get it to work. I notice that the signal is very weak only 1 or 2 bars.
That is a very good point to mention...that it is almost always directly after bringing the phone out of standby. Mine just did it again.
Same problem here. I don't even know how many calls or txts I've missed since.
Had this issue with my N1 and I always chalked it up to cruddy radio and/or coverage. I've since had it on my g2x once or maybe twice I think (had g2x for 3 days now), but at least after it timed out I was able to try again and the call would go through. With my N1 it would never recover unless I toggled airplane mode or sometimes even needed to reboot.
I hope there are some improvements in this area, because bad radio was my biggest gripe with my N1, and i really want to love this phone!

Hey guys,
I have a Nexus 5 running 5.1 stock with an LTE connection in La Paz, Bolivia. Most of the time when I make a call or receive a call, the call is dropped. I have observed that as soon I make the call (with full reception bars) the LTE legend switches to E and then 20 to 30 seconds later, the reception bar dissapears and then the call is dropped.
I was hoping that with 5.1 update the issue will be resolved but nothing has happened.
I have contacted my carrier several times and my APN settings are correct and they haven't been able to troubleshoot the problem with the connection.
I would truly appreciate any ideas that you might have to solve this issue!
Ok, so after looking at several threads in Google Support for the Nexus 5, I tested a solution in which you booted the phone in Safemode and voila, my phone would not drop any calls and LTE would work just fine.
The problem is that Safe Mode does not allow loading anything but the core applications, so I can't use the apps that I have installed.
At this point, I think I have a software problem in which an app or a process drops the calls.
Do any of you have any ideas on how to diagnose which app or process is creating the problem?
Thank you

Hello,
I got an S6 through Verizon. It's unlocked. So I'm using it on Total Wireless. Everything was activated last night and was working great. Then, I wake up this morning to check my phone, and as soon as I lit up the screen ALL of my notifications came through that once. I have it set to always allow notifications on the lock screen, wifi sleep is set to always allow connection even in sleep, and data saver is off. I used to have an Asus Zenfone that would do the same thing if it was connected to a router using IPv6. Are there any fixed or known reasons why the S6 does this?
Secondly, out of nowhere today, my phone stopped sending texts and calls. Data was working on everything EXCEPT Facebook Messenger. So before calling Total Wireless, I tried restarting, power cycling, removing and replacing the SIM, resetting network settings, changing it from Global to LTE/CDMA only, and so much more. I eventually caved and called. The reore had me dial *76 to disable call forwarding, although I never even enabled call forwarding. Would that be the main culprit to the issue that I was experiencing? I mean, randomly not sending texts and calls and saying "searching for service" even though it clearly had full signal of LTE and data was still working sounds pretty odd to me. Any ideas?

I'm having this issue today as well did you ever figure this out ..the call forwarding automatically turning on?
Odd problem I'm trying to track down.
My outgoing calls are not working right The other end hears only static or silence, but if they call me, it's perfectly ok.
I've done the following
Rebooted
Toggled Airplane Mode
Toggled Enhanced 4G LTE
Reseated my SIM
Updated my ROM (LineageOS) to the latest (was on December 18 Build, now on Jan 03 Build)
Tried from multiple miles away to attempt to use different cell towers
My phone is a Oneplus 3T, and my carrier is Cricket Wireless.

The incoming calls working fine sounds very weird indeed. Try the SIM in another phone, and a different SIM in this phone, and see what happens.

I have to see if I can find anything to test with. I've had this phone + carrier + sim combination for over two years now. This just started last night.
The fact though that no incoming calls have this issue is what's really throwing me. It makes me think the issue may be some sort of carrier issue.
I'm rooted, so if this is still happening tonight, I'll see if I can also grab a logcat from the timespan in which I place a call.
