Ok I'm lost. I've been reading around for the past few hours & I've been out of the loop for too long to make sense of this.
I have scrosler's [ROM][1/27/14] - Stock Rooted Knoxless - VRUCML1 - Android 4.3. I have the unlocked bootloader because I have TWRP installed (right?). I did NOT take the OTA to get to 4.3.
With baseband VRUCML1 can I jump to any other ROMS still? Or what should/shouldn't I be looking for?
I'm thinking of trying CM11 or SlimKat
If you can list the version then that would be great. If you do have TWRP installed, yes your bootloader is unlocked and you can flash any Touchwiz rom up to 4.3 or any AOSP rom.

Darn, only up to 4.3...
Versions:
Android: 4.3
Baseband: I535VRUCML1
Build #: JSS15J.I535VRUCML1
TWRP: v2.6.3.1

I think you misinterpreted me. You can flash any AOSP rom that you want since you have TWRP installed. You're limited to 4.3 roms for Touchwiz. CM and SlimKat are ok.
Word of advice, if you're looking to use KitKat AOSP, the S3 has unified builds. One zip for multiple carriers. KitKat AOSP roms will be listed as "d2lte" when you search for recently updated downloads.

As you told you have custom recovery and unlocked bootloader...
I have tried many ROMs and personally will suggest you to go with cm11 .
Slim is also cool but cm has good features and gets updated quickly as there is a Professional team working on it.
Where as on slim if some one ports or adds some more stuff then u will get update which won't be ota ( cm will have some ota update )
Cm is cool ASOP is also cool.

Please thank me if I helped

THANKS SLIM!
Next time I'm dropping the $ on an unlocked phone so I don't have to "think" about what I can & can't do (Stupid Verizon).

You're welcome, always here to help out :good::good:
Also, I'm thinking the same as well in terms of an unlocked phone. Tired of worrying about which OTA is not for my phone or things like that.

This is actually a question I've had for a while. What sorts of things have OTA updates on CM? Does CM update "OTA" often or rarely? I used CM years ago on my OG Droid, but they didn't have updates back then. I keep hearing there are some kinds of updates on CM, but I can never find out what this really means... can you elaborate for me, please?

It depends actually if the developers will fix and update your device ... its on luck ... for example if the developer has the device and he will update for himself. Also it depends on device if it is capable of running the new android , means the hardware capablitity .... You can install cm11 as they are fast in fixing stuff and if you have some problem , xda will help you as cm is common on xda...
I had used cm11 on galaxy tab 2 and it worked like charm ... i was update ( android version v4.4.4 where as on stock they use v4.2 ) f***ing nice.... thanks to xda and cm.... love you all....
Hi
I am looking for fast and stable rom for my girlfriend.
Now she is using Metallium OS but I think it has been abandoned.
I know that I should test few roms but I don't have Moto G and my girlfriend doesn't like testing on her phon
So maybe you can recommend me something?
The rom should be stable (android 5.1?) and fast. She doesn't need any options to configurate.
Fast interface in daily using (debloated) and stable are the most important.
Thanks a lot
Is the bootloader unlocked and does it has a custom recovery? If so try CyanPop (android 6.0), pretty good and stable ROM!
Everything is unlocked and custom recovery is installed
Android 6.0 is stable for now on Moto g?
CyanPop (29/11 build) is pretty stable and I've been using it as my daily ROM since about two weeks!
But this rom is for Moto G 4G, yes?
I think about Moto G (1st = 2013)
No also for 1st Gen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-cyanpop-v1-0-t3250449)!
I recommend you AICP. Imho the most stable and useful rom that i have used. It's restarting by itself sometimes (CM bug) but not so often.

SlimSaber, best performance, estability and battery backup, I think that is the best. I tested since cm11 until Marshallow roms. If you check the post, many people think the same

IMO CM 13 is a little bit better than CyanPop!
I had official stock 4.4.4 KitKat (faux123 kernel). Worked like a charm. But I wanted something new, so I upgraded with OTA to 5.1.1.
Then I used the NX ROM, which is 6.0.1 and GEEZ, I love it. I get 1 day+ battery with normal use, no bugs so far. Everything works as intended. Also, you can notice better graphics and smoother gameplay on games, from 4.4 to 6.0
Give it a try. I'm just in love with it
P.S: I got the 1st Gen Moto G 2013. Antutu marks 23,400 and with Nova Launcher you just skyrocket through the phone.
Cheers.
Hello. I bricked my LG G3 d850 by doing some crazy stuff and I haven't really backed up anything then. I got a new phone now so that's good. I am on 5.0.1 stock, and made a nandroid backup using TWRP.
What is the best custom rom for my phone? I realized that cm13 is not available for AT&T ;-; (I cried a little). I had bad experience with nightly builds on previous samsung phone, and do not want to use any unstable ROMs. I would like a fast, elegant rom that is very stable.. Tell me the ROMs you have used, and your suggestions! Thanks!
edit: I read about the Ressurection Remix 6.0.1 ROM, should I go with this?
Try stock base like cloudy and flumics rom.. I was using cloudy on my G2 and G3 as well... But now i updated my mobile to stock MM 6.0

I'm running candysix on mine. Seems pretty stable. Has some SD card bug. I Dont have an sdcard on mine, so can't confirm
There's no such thing as the "best" ROM. Nor is there a such thing as "the most stable". That's why everyone uses different ROMs. I may like something in a ROM that you don't or you may find it useless. A ROM may have something that I find necessary but you may find it useless. Everyone uses their phones differently, which causes different stability of the ROM. That's why there's no such thing as "the most stable ROM".
I run fulmics 2.5 on mine the new 2.7 updTe has slow chargeing issues but 6 hours of screen on time smooth clean. Only manor issue and its been almost every rom is reboots somtimes require battery pull btw this is a stock based rom so lg apps will work just fine
So far, I've had the most luck with OctOS ROM. I've flashed most of the more popular ones including candysix and BrokenOS. I've liked all of the custom roms I've tried so far but some features were not working in the 2 I mentioned. I also experienced some random crashes and battery pulls with each ROM. I have yet to have any crashes on OctOS so I'm keeping this one for a little until the others become a little better for daily use. Hope you find one you like!
I'm using Resurrection Remix v5.6.0 Android 6.0.1 12/14/2015 Build. I am using Snap dragon camera mod and Nebula MM Kernel based off of 777 Kernel. Everything works great only issue I have is with the GPS but there are fixes in the works over at cyanogenmod. Love this ROM it has so many Customizations and goodies baked in. Keep up the great work Dev!

when a new version of CM is made, it's best not to suck with one nightly build for more than a week as fixes and patches are constantly being added daily. that's how it always is in the infant stages of a new CM number. you probably don't want to be using a rom that is over a month old and doesn't include all the latest fixes and features as, say, the January 13 D850 CM13 nightly.
not to be rude or anything.

Just curious as to where you found the January CM 13 nightly. From what I have read the ATT G3 has not got CM 13 quite yet just some unofficial builds. Thank you for your input but that was just a build I've been using that I enjoyed. I try different ROMs all the time, Right now I'm using Candy6 for the D850 with Nebula kernel and everything is working flawlessly. I really enjoy layers over Cm theme engine. My daily driver until more 6.0 ROMs come out I've tried all of them and so far this is my favorite and if I read correctly its an official build ported from the Nexus 6.

that would be the thread for the most constant CM13 nightly builds. yes they are unofficial, but they are still exactly how the official Nightlies would be. this CM13 rom (newest nightly is 1-18) is probably the most stable 6.0.x rom for our D850.
I was using candy before when it was CM13 base. been meaning to try it with the new AOSP base but I'm just loving CM too much.

Gotcha! Well thanks for the link I'm gonna check that out. I am loving this new AOSP base though and it is very stable. No gps issue and I am really enjoying layers.
Fullmic 2.7 is superb. Better than Cloudy. Amazing battery life, at least on my D852 (Canadian D850)

well guys. What advice would you give what is now 05.APRIL 2016 the most stable ROM ? I have Stock 4.4.2 with ROOT but i wanna something new. What prefer Android 5.x.x ? Or Adnroid 6.x.x MM ? I need most stable ROM.
Thanks
Hay, guys we have questions for the best custom ROM not the one i/you/he or someone else like. i have tried Resurrection ROM, Fulmics, CandySix, XOSP, and the official D855 MM ROM tweaked for D850, but none of them could make me their friend, as all of them has their own glitches and can't run for the long run as the daily driver.
If any one has good long run experience please tell us too,
Edited: Guys i have changed my mind after Fulmics 5.0 launched. I did install it, on my D850, the thing is fantastic. I feel like i'm having an LG G5 in my hands. So, i have really changed my mind about custom ROMs most instantly the FULMICS 5.0 is wow.
I'd like to update my Nexus 5 to a newer version. Now it's still running on v4.4.
This is my primary phone, so a stable rom is important for me.
Which version should I update to?
Thanks.

Well, the latest official Nexus 5 release was of Android Marshmallow. These ROMs should be most stable (also depending on the ROM of course).
I've run Nougat for some time now and can say that it is also stable. Sometimes my camera has a force close, but this can be solved with a certain flashable zip. My Nexus 5 is my daily driver as well. Never had a random reboot. I get around 3+hrs of screen on time with normal usage (2,5 year old phone/battery).
I use latest PureNexus ROM with Franco Kernel btw. Hope this helps.

I too would recommend Pure Nexus, I'm running Tesla N on my hammerhead but we've dropped official support so it's not going to be updated. I also recommend Beans minimal gapps, not the full package https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-dynamic-gapps-t3487192
Hi
Which ROM can you recommend for daily using?
The most important for me is bug free and stable.
if you want no risk taken with everything functional stick to noughat based ROMs. some (Lineage 14.1, crDroid, ResurectionRemix, AOSPExtended) being updates to latest sources recently.
however latest crop oreo based ROMs have almost everything working.
I use a debloated version of 4.4 on my Moto G. It's the best stable ROM. Old but works like charm.
