[Q] Stable ROM for daily use? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Which ROM can you recommend for daily using?
The most important for me is bug free and stable.

if you want no risk taken with everything functional stick to noughat based ROMs. some (Lineage 14.1, crDroid, ResurectionRemix, AOSPExtended) being updates to latest sources recently.
however latest crop oreo based ROMs have almost everything working.

I use a debloated version of 4.4 on my Moto G. It's the best stable ROM. Old but works like charm.

With moderate usage, I get a SOT on about 6 hours.

[Q] Which rom is actually installed on your beloved One S ?

I just read that BeanStalk development has been stopped for the One S. That made me curious about if anyone has ever used the rom and which roms and kernels are actually preferred by other One S users. AOSP or Sense, better stable or better bleeding edge?
I was on CM12, but was tired of the lack of customization. I'm currently on Ressurrection Remix, but while it works fine on this old phone, the bluetooth stops working when wifi is connected (and vice versa). Not sure why this is happening, so I may go to other ROMs to try to find one where it works, but otherwise RR has been pretty good for me.

MaximusHD 10.0.0 (4.2.2 Sense5) is most stable and battery life ROM for Ville... 4ever. Today I returned from Lollipop ROM's I love LP but battery life is extremely hopeless Mainly because of battery life I returned to Sense based ROM. About the stability on LP personally do not complain.

That is interesting, I thought it's my battery that is just dying. How much better is battery life on 4.2.2?
I really like CM 12.1 its fast and stable, but that battery life maaan... It's 12-24h max for me/ or 2,5-3 hours of screen time.

Problably the best in stability is the official stable global rom. Im not sure in battery life. You can try Mokee's stable release but u will need to resize the system partitions

MIUI or SMIUI's camera app is better - for most of the other features ivan's stock 5.1x rom is better. Haven't flash Paranoid Android - but am using xposed which works fine. Couldn't get coloros ported camera to work on ivan's 5.5.20 rom.
I am actually thinking of going back to SMIUI or the stock rom, just for the camera.
Checked Paranoid Android - OPO camera works on it which is good, but it is almost like a stock rom - very few extra features.
ive tested many roms, and right now i'll stick to Mokee ROM, it has many useful features & the battery is excellent. so far no SOD or any other major bugs
roms i recommend are:
mokee rom
omnirom
xenonhd
I think currently best ROM for Mi4 is CyanogenMod, it is quite stable within 5th built.
Have you tried?

I would say if you dont care that much about taking pictures go with any cm12.1-build
CM 12.1 for me is the best.

for me i am using broken rom since a month.
Dirty Unicorn , it is official. No one simple problems, works well even with custom kernel GOD's kernel.
i like EOS, Dirty Unicorn and Resurrection Roms on my MI4
Maybe you can try win 10? it is very stable, and good battery life too.
cMIUI
best rom for BATTERY LIFE is cyanogenmod 12.1
believe me i get 5 hrs of scrren on time over 2 days of usage and i got max of 7 hrs on heavy use):
Cmiui 5.11.5 is the best rom for me with 7,5h sot
How the hell do you get MIUI 7 based off Android Marshmallow OTA? I've got MIUI 7.1.2 but its still KitKat?!!?!? I just want Marshmallow. Considering flashing CM13, but I actually liked MIUI.

Are the 6.0 roms stable?

Wondering whether to upgrade my buddy's phone to 6.0 or not. He uses it for work sometimes so prefer not to have any reboots. How has you guys experince been with 6.0 roms? Any specific stable one you would recommend? Thanks.

NuclearAndroidProject is pretty stable, and for me it works better than Lollipop ever has.
Been using Sultanxda's 6.0 from 06/11 as primary ROM. its been stable and smooth so far. here the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...m-kernel-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3242700
Using Sultan's 6.0 rom, daily patches. Overall pretty smooth experience.
Sultans 6.0 is smooth and stable. It can also be used as daily driver. The only bug I had was the video recordings. All the videos recorded had no sync of audio and video so I popped down to 5.1.1 Blisspop rom. Otherwise it's a good rom to try and use as daily driver.

Press on thanks if I helped you
Using AOSParadox right now. I have not experienced a single reboot or deal breaking bug (at least for me).
I'm interested too....I know that Cyanogen plans to go out in January with 13CM based on 6.0 but in the meanwhile I'd like to give it a go, especially to solve the audio recording problem.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
most 6.0 custom ROMs alphas are stable and good for daily use :good:
Use the XDA search feature to find them and make your own choice by reading users comments

i can confirm that up to 11/21/2015
Using Sultan's 6.0 ROM and it's almost a complete package. A few small bugs are there but thanks to Sultan for keep fixing them with regular updates.
I prefer Official CM13.0 nightly
Omnirom has been my dd since it came out

I was really scared about flash M, and the last week i made and was a really good decision. Its not 100% stable, but it works really smooth and the battery life its much better than L.
I'm using SultanXDA build.
I am on CM official nightlies with boeffla kernel.. Not 100% stable, I would say. you may find some random crashes, no random reboots so far.. but it is fast, smooth, not that battery hog and can be used as a daily driver.

[Q] Good and Stable Rom

Hi
I am looking for fast and stable rom for my girlfriend.
Now she is using Metallium OS but I think it has been abandoned.
I know that I should test few roms but I don't have Moto G and my girlfriend doesn't like testing on her phon
So maybe you can recommend me something?
The rom should be stable (android 5.1?) and fast. She doesn't need any options to configurate.
Fast interface in daily using (debloated) and stable are the most important.
Thanks a lot
Is the bootloader unlocked and does it has a custom recovery? If so try CyanPop (android 6.0), pretty good and stable ROM!
Everything is unlocked and custom recovery is installed
Android 6.0 is stable for now on Moto g?
CyanPop (29/11 build) is pretty stable and I've been using it as my daily ROM since about two weeks!
But this rom is for Moto G 4G, yes?
I think about Moto G (1st = 2013)
No also for 1st Gen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-cyanpop-v1-0-t3250449)!
I recommend you AICP. Imho the most stable and useful rom that i have used. It's restarting by itself sometimes (CM bug) but not so often.

SlimSaber, best performance, estability and battery backup, I think that is the best. I tested since cm11 until Marshallow roms. If you check the post, many people think the same

IMO CM 13 is a little bit better than CyanPop!
I had official stock 4.4.4 KitKat (faux123 kernel). Worked like a charm. But I wanted something new, so I upgraded with OTA to 5.1.1.
Then I used the NX ROM, which is 6.0.1 and GEEZ, I love it. I get 1 day+ battery with normal use, no bugs so far. Everything works as intended. Also, you can notice better graphics and smoother gameplay on games, from 4.4 to 6.0
Give it a try. I'm just in love with it
P.S: I got the 1st Gen Moto G 2013. Antutu marks 23,400 and with Nova Launcher you just skyrocket through the phone.
Cheers.

Which ROM after CM 12.1?

Hi,
I am still on CM12.1 and my Moto G sometimes just turns itself off, even when battery is at 60+ percent.
I want to try a different ROM, but I don't know which one. I am looking for a stable ROM with Android 6.0 and up. Don't care for lots of features or dual-sim support, it only needs to be stable as a daily driver.
Any recommendations?
Try AospExtended ROM V3.1 with Zerobyte kernel. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks. But I don' think this is the right ROM for me, looks heavily modified with a lot of cherry-picks. I think I'll give LineageOS 14.1 a try.
Is LineageOS not heavily modified?
I was also still on CM12.1 until last week (didn't have any problems whatsoever though) and now tried Lineage for a few days but I had some performance problems, so I switched to CM13 and that's really great so far. Very smooth with a few improvements over CM12, while I don't miss any features from Nougat
