What's wrong with the second photo?
EDIT: Never mind, the phone on the stand was hard to notice
Is everything else working including slow motion? And is there any lag compared to the unmodified systema's camera speed? Cause I've experienced those in 7.0, and a lot of crashes

I worry that the Pixel camera is not optimized for the Mi A1. Are there any comparison shots to see if there is a difference in picture quality?
PS: I know that I am suggesting that the current camera app is optimized, which is a little ludicrous if you consider the low light performance

The current stock (A1) camera is a king in daylight. Both rear and Portrait ... But in low light its not. Pixel camera won there. .. For example if u like to take a Portrait shot in extremely low light in A1 then Pixel Camera will help. With Flashlight also....
I don't have any comparison shots now. But i can tell u its worth. 200% worth

This is great news, thank you! It makes me hopeful that the low light performance in the vanilla version of the A1 will improve significantly with software updates... fingers crossed
This is Epic! It's wonderful how Google proves to be a portrait maestro without dual cameras!!
Same lights (none) and still portrait mode acheived with flash from front camera. I am so happy to have a phone running on Oreo and to have stumbled upon this post. Thanks.

Changelog:
-changed tonemap of gcam to lessen black crushing on jpeg quality courtesy of defcomg!
Aug 27, 2018:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1KtMnt8PJ1xKEvXnRQ_u_Pyd9DJYMrtj3 .
Changelog:
-forced 50 frames for hdr+ enhanced capture.
For clear picture in low light, use a tripod and set to min iso for auto-exposure compensation.
Arthur's latest 5.1.20 also worked with S9+ so I decided to do a minor mod to it: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JCwavHJW-A8M2HZxSMlpWRQ2xdzjoZdm . This way it will give people a choice on the s9+ snapdragon only! I found that due to lack of exposure settings, arthur's version is more noisy than my version, but it does capture quicker. Note: 48 frames do not work, it will FC. However, I found that 46 frames worked fine.
Aug 20, 2018:
So after tinkering around with multiple new Gcam ports to establish a good base, we decided to stick with the previous BSG 5.1 as base since it has RAW mode! A minor but very important change has been made to the Gcam port since release dealing with RAW capture. Portrait mode live preview lag is still a zero progress since of the snap845 change. Will need pixel 3 or 3 xl dump to figure out.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OkJs8_X_OpUUwSIZC-qAqHij8QxorV6P
Changelog:
-force 30 frame bursts for all condition for RAW capture.
credits: @defcomg, @fahmi182 .. these would not be possible without them Feel free to use my port for your device but please credit accordingly. Donation always welcome, link to donate below.
July 27, 2018:
After multiple MULTIPLE trial and error we finally got hdr+ enhanced to work! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iWsHxbN1aCEVIF97OJOkA3KX6_y9Vx37 . Portrait mode is still wonky, live preview lags like crazy, and sometimes it takes a picture sometimes it does not and we are having very difficulty to figuring out why it's doing that. If anyone have an idea, please chime in. Enjoy, same config as previous version should work.
July 22, 2018:
Here is the apk for people to start enjoying shooting. I was going to hold out until more fixes but I rather let people enjoy taking photos accurately: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cVdEbu38n7FhZEPCqj6KTXoc5bT-K9Fm/view?usp=drivesdk. Note: This is strictly for Snapdragon 845 S9/S9+ only. Please do not ask why it does not work on Exynos. If it does then you're golden.
Settings to use: Model - Pixel 2 XL. JPEG quality - 100%. Enable toggle for 2016 pixel zsl. Close app from memory and reopen it.
Bugs:
HDR+ enhanced do not work.
Front HDR+ shows perfect live preview but when you snap pic it force closed.
Portrait front does nothing.
Portrait rear live preview slower than molasses but it work.
If any dev wants to work on this, they are more than welcome to but give credits to defcomg and myself please. Without defcomg, none of this could happen!
HUGE UPDATE: A stable semi-working version of GCam has now work for the Snap 845 S9 and S9+!! Thanks to defcomg ofcourse, so please PLEASE donate to him for his countless hours. I will also accept donation as of now so I can purchase new devices to test versions of Gcam!
Link will be provided once bugs are sorted through.

Sorry for the exynos users, but miniuser made it specifically for his exynos s7 edge though. Maybe the cpu is so different?
Very buggy. Very little works and pictures don't get saved. Hopefully we'll get a working version soon
I have updated the original post, this should work because I tested it multiple time on my unlocked Snapdragon version.

The current updated settings work nicely without any crash (s9+ tmobile) . But when I try to even make the smallest changes like turn off shutter sound it will crash the app every time, forcing me to clear data and cache.
Also, can we get an option to save to SD?
Working but blue tint for sure.
It's a start, thanks!

Currently the sensor is too new.. no one figured out how to make it not tint. Play around with the white balance section. Drop it down.
@Arnova8G2, can you help us s9+ users? Your pixel mod version do not work at all, it gives us black screen and restarts the device. The only thing semi working is miniuser's port. Gcam issue is now it defaults to lowest aperture of your phone, which is f/1.5 for s9+. This makes everything over exposed in brightlight and make everything pink or blue in the white balance area. Can anyone provide logs to him to help?
i would LOVE a gcam port to this phone. i feel like the stock camera app doesnt have enough 'pop' to the pictures.
So it looks like version 7 of the miniuser123 gcam works if you put the model to pixel 2 xl, and hdr+ to auto. Set denoise to like 140% or whatever you like to smooth things out. It looks a bit better but certainly not as sharp as stock app.

Can any one port the GCAM mod for OP6. I used to get better images in my OP3 with Gcam mod. Even the photos of Oos camera in OP6 is not that good as that of Gcam pics of my OP3. I installed the Gcam mod by @SKULSHADY in OP6 but it wont post process the images and crashes are also high. Someone please help...
I don't think any of the devs has the OP6 yet, so there is nobody currently to work on a possible fix.
What is needed for a start are LOGS! No logs, no progress. That's how the community got the OP3/T to perform great with the Gcam Mod.
Nothing we can do but test, provide logs, tag the devs and wait.
I also found this statement on Reddit:
One of the developers (damit sind die Mod Devs gemeint) said that the HAL has been moved to the processor level for the 845 and hence there's no way that GCAM can work properly without root. It's not completely concrete yet but from what he said there's likely no possible way to get it working. It currently doesn't work on any snapdragon 845 devices except the S9 and even then it's extremely buggy and worse than stock

@ashwin murali
As you already have the OP6, could you please do some comparison shots with the OP3 (stock and with Gcam) in full resolution and quality? (for example on Google Photos)
I'm really curious how they compare. I already preordered the OP6 on Amazon but canceled it as soon as I heard about Gcam issues.
I don't mind to root the device if I can use GCam on Oneplus 6
I can confirm, any version I used so far of the gcam gives the same quality like the stock camera. No comparison required. The pictures are not really clear, lack details and have this kind of oil picture effect. sadly.
How to provide logs? Which version should I use to provide those? I'd be happy to support if possible without rooting my device (using it for corporate purposes so no root for me)
I'll root anyways so it wouldn't be a problem for me
what should i do after root?

Nothing we can do at this moment.
We have to wait until new GCam app that is developed for Snapdragon 845 phones
Hey guys and girls,
just wanted to know if the gcam mod for op6 will get better when Google releases the official gcam app for the pixel 3. or will it be easier for developers to get better results for the op6 gcam mod?
will the devs of gcam mod stop their work on the present mod because it is based on the sd835 gcam app? if so then why do the devs even work on the mod now and up until the official sd845 gcam app instead of saying "there will be no gcam mod for the op6 until Google releases the official gcam app for the pixel3 (sd845). we will begin working on this project once the 845 app is available".
are the devs working on the gcam mod just because they are so kind/helpful/... that they spend lots of their free time just to get a working mod right away instead of waiting for the actual app that Google will release shortly? or will all the development into the present app help the devs once the sd845gcam.app is out?
And when did Google release the gcam app for the pixel 2 last year - together with the phone release or was the software available before the phone release?
lots of questions,
would love some clarification!
thanks so much,
v.
The whole thread belongs in the original thread. How a forum should work, so you speak to the developers directly..
1: it might
2: it might
3: they would probably stop using that base.. But keep some things in the code. (might)
4. Well... There are things you just don't know if they even will work properly or not when developing something. There are people in this world that just want to TRY make stuff better or just have fun with it. It's like saying there is no need to save people from starving because we will never succeed... And we therefore don't even care for trying..
5. Sigh... .. Peace out.
thx for answering,
I did think about posting my questions in the thread you mention. but I figured it's too much off topic. I didn't want to interrupt the actual development thread as I'm not helping the thread with useful info regarding the mod.
thanks for your reply,
v.
Well, it's good but the autofocus is slow and not accurated, sometimes got tint pic and the Portraid Mod is bugged (crashed and freeze). Other than that, the CameraAPI is not used so no full features like 4K 60fps etc. and more scalable resolution for photo camera.
This is a very important question, to the point if i keep the phone or not....

Why is camera API not used ?
On old days of OP1 they ported from Find 7 (Camera 2.67)...
Maybe from Oppo R15?

Because they need to be included by Arnova8G2 in next build.

For those who were unsuccessful in trying those GCam by cstark, at https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-cstark27/ , the above 2 links, you have to install both of seperately, It's worth using the stunning LG G7 camera! We should thank the developer for working for the OP6 being working on the LG G7. My settings in both cameras were.
1) Pixels auto HDR+ enabled.
2)Final JPG quality HDR+ 100%.
The issue I got was if changed to HDR+ Auto, it becomes unusable. So keep HDR+ On always. If you have better settings, share them below. .
Both wide and normal results in stunning images. Definitely better than Stock Camera. I hope the future updates will improve our beasts. Enjoy.
Portrait is broken in both I think.
I can't get slowmotion recording to work. Either app just closes.

because too many of these GCams do not work with the LG G7, now I found a new apk with both modes working as included in single apk.

Wow thanks! What are the recommended advanced settings?
In case you're like me and glanced over the OP, it will not work until you change HDR to always on instead of auto - as mentioned by the OP. I'm going to check it out. I've been disappointed with the low light photo quality on the stock camera. Hoping this helps!

Hi. Does gcam have the same shutter lag as original camera app?
If it does, so how to fix that? Any tips is appreciated.
Sorry if it is not right place to ask. I am just frustrated and do not find any solution for that.
Thanks!
IMO gcam sucks compared to stock... This is why I have uninstalled it.
