Folks,
I recently bought a Honor 8 and was trying to unlock the bootloder, install twrp and supersu by following the link below
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-install-twrp-t3554789
As stated in the link above, I got to the steps to install supersu. However, on following step 12, it has formatted the data and now the phone is in a bootloop(stuck on the blue screen showing HONOR label)
I'm guessing my phone will not boot up since the OS has been erased. Could someone please help me restore this phone to back to the stock firmware and steps needed to do so. I am new to Honor phones, so not sure what I need to do and steps needed. Would appreciate any help if possible??
1. Boot into TWRP
2. Once there, when asked to keep system read only? - swipe to allow modifications
3. Tap Install
4. Tap Select Storage - Select your SD card
5. Select the supersu file "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815-EMUI5.0.zip"
6. Swipe to confirm flash
7. Ignore the multiple errors: "Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
8. Go back to the main menu
9. Select Reboot to Recovery
10. When asked to keep system read only? - swiped to allow modifications (again)
11. Tap Wipe
12. Tap Format Data
13. Type YES then hit enter
14. It will format data using make_ext4fs..
15. When finished, tap Reboot System
16. Reboot back into TWRP
17. Swipe to allow modifications (You can check the box to never show this again)
18. Tap Install
19. Select storage
20. Select your SD card
21. Select the supersu file "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815-EMUI5.0.zip"
22. Swipe to confirm flash
23. You should see NO ERRORS now when installing SuperSU
24. Wipe cache/dalvik
25. Swipe to wipe
26. Reboot system
Download the rollback and marshmallow firmware package from honors website. Rename the rollback package to "UPDATE.APP" and place it in a folder called "dload" in your micro SD card. Put the micro SD in your phone, and boot into the firmware update screen (volume up + volume down + power all at the same time). Once it's done, delete the old UPDATE.APP file from the dload folder, rename your marshmallow firmware package to "UPDATE.APP", place it in the dload folder on your micro SD card, place the micro SD in your phone, and again flash the firmware using volume up +volume down +power
Since you still have access to the SD Card via USB, you can just download your firmware, extract it and put the UPDATE.APP in a dload folder on a microSD card and press all 3 buttons when starting up the phone to start installing the OS again.
Appreciate the feedback. I tried going to the below website to pick up the rollback package and the firmware( Android 6.0)
http://www.hihonor.com/us/support/search-result/index.html?keywords=Honor%208%20Firmware
My question is that is it possible to just restore it back to android nougat(7.0) in the U.S or has the 7.0 not released for the U.S markets yet?
I found the following link below for the Android 7.0(Nougat) firmware for Honor 8 but not sure if this work on the phones bought in the U.S
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=FRD-L14
Appreciate your feedback on this..
Since the phone is in bootloop, I would have to use a different phone and it's SD card slot to download the firmware and then put it on the Honor 8. I'm guessing the rollback process would only apply if I wanted to go back to the Marshmellow firmware. My question though is would I be able to restore it back to Android Nougat(7.0) if possible.
I found the following link below for the Nougat(7.0) firmware. Not sure if this will work on the U.S phones. Is there a different process to restore it back to Nougat?
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=FRD-L14
You can try just getting the nougat firmware onto your micro SD, then pressing volume up + volume down + power to see if it works. Worse case scenario is that you'll get an error.
If you do get an error, your can try the rollback procedure. Once you get marshmallow running you can always just update back to nougat with OTA.
Oh yeah, you don't necessarily need another phone. Just get a micro SD card adapter and plug it into your computer, then transfer the files into the dload folder
---------- Post added at 07:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:34 PM ----------
You can use the following link for marshmallow firmware. Again, you can always update to nougat later using OTA
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/models-stock-firmware-packages-honor-8-t3501942
thanks for the info..just another clarification. The nougat firmware I found online was a zip file that included 3 files(attached snapshot) . I noticed one of the files is the UPDATE.APP.
My question is on creating the new dload folder do I need to remove the other two files or just copy all of 3 files in the dload folder before I try to restore the phone back.. Sorry if it's a straight-forward question, but I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.
Much thanks...
Just the UPDATE.APP
What are the other 2 files? Just curious
there is a folder called : META-INF which has some files in it and also a file called: full_mainpkg.tag which is only a 1KB file so maybe that's inconsequential.
Did you try out the procedure yet? The META-INF folder should not be necessary. You can always try the method with and without the folder included if you really need to.
I did...it did do the update following the steps you mentioned and it seems everything went fine as far as the update is concerned. I didn't get any errors, but once the phone rebooted it is still stuck on the blue screen with the Honor logo on it
Have you tried the rollback procedure as well?
---------- Post added at 04:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:08 AM ----------
If neither procedure worked, you can try another procedure which involves extracting SYSTEM.IMG, BOOT.IMG, RECOVERY.IMG, and CUST.IMG from the UPDATE.APP file, then flashing all of them through fastboot, and finally preforming the rollback procedure again.
was finally able to get the phone to reboot and load the firmware. It does seem that there is some issue with the keyboard now as it's only showing OK google as the keyboard so I don't have a keyboard anymore. Not sure how to go around this. Also the phone seems a little laggy and unresponsive at times which wasn't happening earlier. I'm thinking of trying the rollback method to see if that helps or improves the performance of the phone. Let me know of you have any suggestions. Thanks again for your help...
That's a known issue with the keyboard. For some reason it does not function correctly after a factory reset. The rollback should fix everything. Once you are back on marshmallow, just update back to nougat (if you want to) through OTA system update.
Edit: it might actually be easier to just perform a factory reset on the nougat firmware. I'm assuming your data was wiped through the procedure anyway, right?
I can do the rollback but I just realized that I have the 64GB version which is the FRD-L14
http://www.phonemore.com/huawei-honor-8/models/629
I'm not sure if there is a FRD-L14(64GB) variant of the MM firmware available anywhere. If so, I'm not aware of the link of the site to find it. Secondly, if I do install the FRD-L04(32GB) variant of the MM firmware would that create problems for the phone in upgrading and later trying to root and install custom ROM etc.
Much Thanks
The nougat firmware your flashed earlier, was it the L14 firmware? I would not flash a L04 firmware on a L14. Instead, you can probably flash the L14 nougat firmware (unless you already did) and then perform a factory reset
EDIT: Refer to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/frd-l14-users-how-to-restore-downgrade-t3537433
The OP uploaded the correct L14 firmware files. Remember to first flash the rollback package, then the firmware.
the firmware I flashed earlier was the L14 firmware. I went to the link you mentioned above in your post. It's a little confusing as far as the exact steps that need to be followed as people seem to be adding/modifying steps. Would help if I could get a clear step process on how/what to follow.
Also, is it okay to flash the rollback package and then flash the nougat firmware package for L14 if I am currently on nougat(not fully functioning as mentioned in the posts above).
This link below from your reference thread has a few L14 firmware's. I had earlier picked up the first one from the list. Not sure if that's the correct one to flash..
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=FRD-L14
Thanks again...
The rollback package is only used if you're downgrading from nougat to marshmallow. Otherwise, you don't need it. Since you were having some issues after flashing the nougat firmware, I would recommend that you rollback, and then update to nougat afterwards. Here's a step by step:
1. Get an micro SD card. Create a folder on it called "dload"
2. Download the F14 rollback package from the following link:
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=92098&version=360320&siteCode=us-h
Extract the UPDATE.APP file, and place it into your dload folder. Pace the micro sd into your phone
3. With the phone shut off, press volume up + volume down + power to flash the UPDATE.APP. Once it's done, shut down your phone and remove the sd card
4. Download the F14 Marshmallow firmware from the following link:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1201/g88/v66294/f1/full/update.zip
Extract the UPDATE.APP, and replace the old UPDATE.APP in the dload folder with the new one you just downloaded.
5. Place the micro sd into your phone. Repeat the button combination to flash it. Once it's done, shut down your phone.
6. Press volume up + power to boot into system recovery. Wipe the phone's data from this screen.
7. Boot into the phone. Go to settings -> About
Check to see if the model# etc is correct. If it is not, complete step 8. Otherwise go to step 9:
8. Download the following file:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...94/f1/full/hw/usa/update_data_full_hw_usa.zip
Extract the UPDATE.APP, place it in the dload folder, and flash it.
9. Boot into the phone. If you want to update to nougat, do the following:
Go to your dialer, and type *#*#2432546#*#*
This will force your phone to check for updates.
Then go to Settings -> Updater to update to nougat
I did follow your steps, but my keyboard has now vanished when the set up screen appears. It only shows google voice and I'm having trouble setting up my phone. Has anyone had the same problem. What can I do to get my keyboard back?
Note: my phone is unrooted. Not sure if that makes a difference

Basic Device Information
Released in November 2016, the Lenovo Vibe P2 is a 5.5" smartphone with mid-range specifications and a budget-friendly price. It is the successor to the Lenovo Vibe P1, offering an even higher battery capacity fitted inside a thinner and lighter body.
There are two variants of the Lenovo P2; the international (or global variant) and the Chinese variant. Therefore, it is very important to know which one you have or which one you should buy. If you bought your device from retailers in India/UK/Europe, it is very likely that you bought the international version. The international version has the code name P2a42, whereas the Chinese version is labelled P2c72. The easiest way to distinguish between the two is to check the storage size. Only the Chinese variant (P2c72) of the P2 comes with a 64GB storage. Hence, if your P2 has only 32GB of internal storage, your P2 is the international variant (P2a42).
Aside from differences in storage, the two P2 variants differ in the bands they support. Courtesy of user @911-Future_Maker, the differences are highlighted in red.
P2a42
GSM: GSM850/ GSM900/ GSM1800/ GSM1900
3G: UMTS2100 (B1)/ UMTS1900 (B2)/ UMTS850 (B5)/ UMTS900 (B8)
4G: LTE2100 (B1)/ LTE1800 (B3)/ LTE1700/2100 (B4)/ LTE850 (B5)/ LTE2600 (B7)/ LTE900 (B8)/ LTE800 (B20)/ LTE700 (B28)/ TD-LTE2600 (B38)/ TD-LTE2300 (B40)
P2c72
GSM: GSM850/ GSM900/ GSM1800/ GSM1900
3G: UMTS2100 (B1)/ UMTS900 (B8)/ CDMA800 (BC0)/ TD-SCDMA2000/ TD-SCDMA1900
4G: LTE2100 (B1)/ LTE1800 (B3)/ TD-LTE2600 (B38)/ TD-LTE1900 (B39)/ TD-LTE2300 (B40)/ TD-LTE2500 (B41)
Despite the differences in the internal storage and radio bands, both variants share common partitions, aside from the data partition, of course. As a result, many global Chinese shops, such as bangggod and gearbest, sell the P2c72 preflashed with the P2a42 firmware; the reason being that the P2a42 firmware supports more languages, whereas the P2c72 firmware supports only English and Chinese, among other reasons. Even though the P2c72 can run the P2a42 firmware, the bands that it supports remain those of the P2c72.
NOTE : Do not flash your device with files that are intended for the other variant. You will very likely end up with either a bricked phone or a phone that does not recognize the sim or your carrier's network. You have been warned!
Official Stock Firmware
You should only flash the full firmware when it is the method of last resort. The choice of which firmware version to use should be based on the variant you own and the version of Android installed. It has been reported that if you flash the full firmware intended for Android 6 on the P2 that is already on Android 7, then you will have modem issues. Be warned.

Official Stock Updates
Upon receiving the P2, it will most likely still have Android 6 installed. You can either update your device automatically to Android 7.0 via OTA updates or manually by downloading the files below and flashing them one after the other. Please note that these files are intended only for owners of the P2a42 or the P2c72 with the P2a42 firmware.
Downloads
From S048 to S062 (Android 6 minor update)
From S062 to S232 (Android 6 to Android 7.0 update)
From S232 to S233 (Android 7.0 minor update)
From S233 to S244 (Android 7.0 minor update)
In order to manually upgrade, you must have a sdcard. The upgrading process has to be done in the numerical order in which the files are listed above. For example, you download the first file, move it to the root of your sdcard, rename it to update.zip, reboot into recovery, upgrade, restart the phone, and repeat the same process for the second file and so on.
To manually install updates:
Shut down the phone.
Hold Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Button to boot into the recovery menu. Release the buttons when the screen turns on.
In the recovery menu, Select Install Update Package > Yes.
After the last upgrade is installed, it is advisable to do a factory reset. Enter the recovery menu. Choose Wipe User Data. First do Fuse Wipe Data, then Fuse Format Data, and finally Wipe Cache, all the while selecting Yes when asked.

Unlocking the Bootloader
The bootloader must be unlocked before any modding can be done on the P2. Please be aware that unlocking the bootloader voids your warranty and formats your data partition (don't forget to backup important files). Unlocking the bootloader on the P2a42 or the P2c72 running the P2a42 firmware is a simple process.
Go to Settings > About phone > Tap 7 times on Build number > Go back > Enter Developer options > Enable OEM unlocking
Accept the terms that you understand that you're voiding your warranty by choosing to unlock your bootloader
Login with your Lenovo account (if you already have one) or create a new one
Wait for 14 days. A countdown timer will begin that is specifically associated with your device.
After the waiting period, go back to OEM unlocking so that the Lenovo servers can toggle the bootloader unlock switch.
At this point you must have installed the Lenovo USB drivers and Minimal ADB Fastboot on your Windows computer.
Shut down the phone. Enter into fastboot mode by holding Vol Down + Power Button until the screen turns on.
Connect the P2 to your computer and open Minimal ADB Fastboot.
Type: fastboot oem unlock
Recoveries
TWRP 3.2.1-0 (latest custom recovery)
Stock Recovery for Android 6
Stock Recovery for Android 7
If you're going to be installing custom ROMs, it is better to replace the stock recovery with TWRP. Check this page for more information or the latest updates. The procedure below works for both the P2a42 and the P2c72 running the P2a42 firmware.
Rename the TWRP file to twrp.img and move it to both the root of the internal storage of your P2 and the folder where Minimal ADB Fastboot is installed (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot).
Boot the P2 into fastboot mode.
Open Minimal ADB Fastboot and type : fastboot boot twrp.img
Inside TWRP, choose Install > Install Image > Look for twrp.img > Select recovery > Slide to install.
TWRP will now be installed over the stock recovery. At this point, it makes sense to do a full backup of your partitions. Backup everything except System Image and Cache. In the event you want to return to stock recovery, either restore only the recovery from the Restore menu in TWRP, if you had saved a backup, or flash it as in step 4 above. You should download the stock recovery for the Android version installed on your P2.
Rooting
Files for Magisk method
Files for SuperSU method
The methods described here are only applicable for the P2 running on stock Android 7. Check this post for more details or instructions on how to root the P2 on stock Android 6.
There are basically two methods that can give you super user privileges on the P2. If you have apps that won't allow you to use them if your device is rooted (such as Android Pay), then the Magisk method is for you. This method roots your device without modifying Android's system partition at all. This means that fewer of Android's built-in security measures need to be bypassed in order to gain root access. At the moment, for the Magisk method to work, you need to format the data partition to EXT4. This will obviously erase all your files; so, backup important files before going ahead with it. Download the latest version of Magisk from the link above and move the zip file to the P2's internal storage.
Shut down. Boot into TWRP.
In TWRP, select Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Select Data > Repair or Change File System > Change File System > Select EXT4
Go back to the main menu: Select Install > Look for Magisk-vx.y.zip > Slide to install.
There's also another method you can root the P2 with, but this method is deprecated; it is advisable to use Magisk to provide root privileges as described above. Rooting via the SuperSU method is only presented here for the sake of reference.
You will find two files in the "Files for SuperSU method" linked above.
Install the me.phh.superuser.apk file.
Move the superuser-r259.zip file to the root of the P2's the internal storage.
Shut down. Boot into TWRP.
Select Install > Look for superuser-r259.zip > Slide to install.

Decryption the internal storage
The only reason I could think of why someone would want to decrypt the internal storage is to be able to multiboot as one of the requirements of DualBootPatcher is for the internal storage, or more specifically the data partition, to be unencrypted. It's important that you understand that decrypting the internal storage makes it very easy for anyone with access to your phone to access all your data. You're warned: your phone is the most personal and most portable device you have, don't be reckless with your data.
It is very likely your P2 is already encrypted. You can easily verify that by going to settings > security. If you see "Encrypted" under "Encryption", the internal storage is encrypted. If you had not set the phone to require a pin/password to boot, the phone would be encrypted using the default password. If TWRP doesn't prompt you for authentication, it may be because it tries the default password at first and succeeds with that. So, getting access to your internal storage in TWRP does not necessary mean the internal storage is not encrypted.
You need to format data (under TWRP) to remove the encryption. This obviously deletes everything on your phone; so, backup your important stuff first. Reboot the phone back into recovery after formatting data. If TWRP doesn't detect the the partitions of your internal storage, boot/flash the stock recovery. The stock recovery will properly format the partitions. Boot/Flash TWRP one more time and you will see all the partitions again. At this point, you should change the format of the data partition to ext4 and install Magisk. Installing Magisk will modify the boot partition and will prevent the phone will automatically re-encryp itself.
Getting back to Stock Firmware
In the event you can no longer boot into the phone, or your phone is bricked, you may want to reinstall the stock firmware. After downloading and extracting the zip file, you will find a file called flashall.bat inside the SW folder. All what is required then is putting the phone in fastboot mode and executing this file. However, if you've already unlocked your bootloader, running flashall.bat will fail. What you need to do is to flash the partitions manually.
In the extracted zip file, you will find files labelled systemchunkx.img (probably around 15 of them), boot.img, and recovery.img. Put your phone in fastboot mode, open Minimal ADB Fastboot and do the following:
Flash the boot image: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Flash the recovery image: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Flash the system chunks one after the other, starting with the first one until the last one. For example, to flash the first system chunk: fastboot flash system systemchunk1.img

Im a new owner of P2, recently i upgraded my firmware to the latest(S244) and doing so upgrade ended up with something wrong i mean process/recovery didn't gave any error and even phone booted up normal but process wasn't 100% phone rebooted from like 88%, so after bootup from recovery i wiped all data and did a factory reset and used it like normal, everything was working perfect but after a week i facing random issues like battery drain, signal not sticking to 4g network, low wifi reception etc, i tried factory resetting again from recovery but that didnt solved my problem so i want flash factory firmware(android 7 S244) given above.my device is P2a42, locked bootloader, so can anyone tell me how should i flash those images, because i dont want to end up messing with modem files
After the waiting period, go back to OEM unlocking so that the Lenovo servers can toggle the bootloader unlock switch.

I rooted with super su I want to unroot and try magisk
How do I unroot?
Hello I have a P2 p2c72 with rom p2a42 bought at gearbest.
I just want to root it to use titanium backup (root access), should I use twrp recovery or can I stay with the original recovery and flash magisk after unlock bootloader ?
I don't want custom rom.
Thank you.
[EDIT] Thanks for the guide, it's good for me, twrp ok and root with magisk !
Just want to say great work on this thread!
The information for the P2 has become convoluted in the past 12 months and a summarization and write up such as this is helpful for everyone to benefit from!
Big Thanks.
HwOTA 7+8 for Huawei Mate 10 Lite1. On the phone, make a backup of all data (since during the upgrade all data will be erased). This is an obligatory condition.
2. Unlock your bootloader: (There´s no way around it (unfortnuately), but after the procedure your device will be locked again, so don´t worry!). The device will make a factory reset, so once again, BACKUP your files!!!!!!!!!!
3. Enable ‘USB debugging’ and ‘OEM Unlock’ option from setting>developer option>. To enable Developer Options, go to About phone and tap the Build Number 7 times.
4. You must download three zip-archives with a full "Full OTA" firmware on which you want to flash (If you look through in the FF (FirmwareFinder), you see there are 4 archives for China and 3 for other locations. You must to download for the version what model and location you will have after the firmware);
5. Add the downloaded files to the folder "HWOTA\Update" and run the .cmd file, it will rename them automatically according to the template:
- update_data_full_public.zip to update_data_public.zip
- update_full_....zip to update_all_hw.zip
- update.zip don't rename
6. After run the universal batch file update.bat in the "HWOTA" folder, which will provide an opportunity to choose the required work option (change firmware/rebranding (change location)). FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SCREEN OF THE MONITOR - the entire process is accompanied by prompts.
At the end of the process, everything should work fine... Be prepared, the bootloader will be locked after changing the location or firmware as a FullOTA.
7. If suddenly it turned out "bootloop" - go into the stock Recovery and make wipe.
PS: To change the firmware using the SD card, you need to create a folder "HWOTA" on the SD card and copy three firmware archives with the changed names (see above). In the batch file select item 1 "SDCard HWOTA directory"

For Oreo beta?
No to RNE-L21C432B135 Nougat
I haven't tested it for oreo beta I'm back to MORFUZ V 1.0
Great looking, it works perfectly, I tried to install oreo but it does not work, it always returns to 7.0 and 5.1. At least I managed to redirect the cell. But for the oreo version I think I have to wait because I've tried many but no one works.
I used this on top of the MidgarD ROM I had, now I have a normal 4.5G AND a working face unlock. On Stock ROM, I didn't have the option for the face unlock, and when I installed Elemental ROM and later MidgarD ROM, it didn't work on both of those. This is interesting, isn't it?
I also didn't immediately lose my installed apps, by which I mean until I unlocked the bootloader again.
Bad news: Despite installing Magisk and enabling Magisk Hide after this, I fail the Safety Net check
Thanks man its working fine, my Mate 10 Lite was soft bricked or wont get proper hardware and face unlock, now it works
in start it was problematic for me, wifi would not turn on, phone will periodically show storage full (there was no SD Card in it)
then I restarted 2/3 times, and poof.
Now not only phone is back but it has oreo
Hi!
I tried this, downloaded the rne-l21c432b135 FullOTA from Firmware Finder and followed the instructions.
However, when it boots after finishing then my phone has turned into NEO-L21 and I am not able to get back to RNE-L21 without replacing the software with an older backup. It says also the unit is rooted (Huawei ID says so when I should enter my fingerprint) even though I have formatted the unit.
What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: Sorry, I had used the wrong file (there is one for the RNE-L01 and one for the RNE-L21) and that made all the difference, I am not back to stock!
Thank you so much for the help!
Hi,
Works for RNE-L01C432B135 perfect. I updated without any problem.
But because I don't want to stay with locked bootloader, I made all rooting procedure from the beginning.
That was easy too, because I have backups of every single details (important datas from internal storage, messages, programs and of course /data/hw_init folder, SuperSU-decyrpt)
Thanks again

HwOTA for Huawei Mate 10 Lite1.
4. You must download three zip-archives with a full "Full OTA" firmware on which you want to flash (If you look through in the FF (FirmwareFinder), you see there are 4 archives for China and 3 for other locations. You must to download for the version what model and location you will have after the firmware);
5. Add the downloaded files to the folder "HWOTA\Update" and run the .cmd file, it will rename them automatically according to the template:
- update_data_full_public.zip to update_data_public.zip
- update_full_....zip to update_all_hw.zip

Where can I find HwOTA for Huawei Honor View10?
HI Guys
my current firmware is RNE-L21C185B110 but i can't find any FULL OTA firmware but only OTA MF (RNE-L21C185B142CUSTC185D001 this is the last available update).
My bootloader is unlocked, unrooted and without TRWP
How can I do to update to last firmware with HwOTA?
ok
To install the update of the B142 you do not necessarily have to use the HWOTA, you simply have to copy the DLOAD folder from the extracted RAR file to your SD, if your SD says that the file is very large ... format the SD to another type of Format..
Formatting a unit SD in exFAT
1. Double-click on Equipment.
2. Right-click on the flash drive or memory card, then select Format.
3. In the File System list, click exFAT.
4. Click on Start.
5. Click OK to begin the format.
After saving the DLOAD folder to the SD.
- Turn off your smartphone
- Now press the volume button up + Volume down + Power button at the same time, so that the update process starts automatically.
- This procedure takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete
- Automatically it will restart ... and you will have installed the update.

Okay... you have a "Rollback package" (C900 = free region). So now, you need to flash a complete firmware. It's easy with "dload" folder method.
Honor Chinese website doesn't give any firmware for Honor 8 now... I found B135 (Android 6.0 and EMUI 4.1 but you can do OTA updates, so it's good ) which will flash correctly on your phone and here is a link: https://mega.nz/#!ZgU22BYa!FP8UYXghy0dXxOYFeSf4BKdlF5_8AbVMKQ0ONkV5VpQ (It's for AL10 AND AL00 too, no worry!)
Steps for "dload" folder method:
0. Backup your phone! Factory Reset (Wipe internal storage only) can be made after update or needed if you have freezes/crashes/bootloop
1. Unzip firmware and copy dload folder to the phone (check if you have "dload/update.app" file - in SD card it's always working, but you can try internal storage too)
2. Turn off phone, wait 10 sec.. Turn on phone by PRESSING BOTH (UP AND DOWN) VOLUME KEYS AND POWER KEY until emui screen, then release. The update installs automatically.
3. After long update, phone boot can be very slow (2-5 minutes) so wait patiently!
4. If successfully booted, check now if you have OTA updates. (you can delete the "dload" folder if all is okay then )

I don't know why it will can not work. It could be not pre-installed but you can install (and use) "Google services" APKs easily. (Don't forget to allow "Storage" permission / give full permissions)
Total size of the firmware given above is 5.29 GB (!!!) and you need to use "7-zip" to extract .tar.gz archive inside "Soft..." or "...Soft" folder. Extract archive again until you have "dload" folder which have "UPDATE.APP" file and 5 directories.
If I knew your phone model (AL00 or AL10?), I can try to give you the last firmware allowed to install on your phone (the "FullOTA" one - complete package firmware).

EDIT: Check your vendor info, type this phone number: *#*#2846579#*#* then go to "Network Information Query" > "Vendor Country Info". If you see "Vendor: all" and "Country: cn" = OK you can follow:
EDIT 2: If you see "allwyf" in vendor info, tell me and I will give you the good zip files!
Try to flash FRD-AL10C00B396 - "all-cn" vendor - January 2018 security patches included, via dload method. But there is 3 files to flash (in order!):
0) Backup your phone! Factory Reset (Wipe internal storage only) can be made after update or needed if you have freezes/crashes/bootloop.
/!\ It's better to use a SD Card, don't know if it works if you send files into Internal Storage! /!\
First flash: update.zip
1) Unzip archive, create "dload" folder inside root of SD Card memory if not present -or- delete "dload" content if exists, then transfer extracted file named "UPDATE.APP" inside "dload" directory.
2) Turn off phone, wait 10 sec.. Turn on phone by PRESSING BOTH (UP AND DOWN) VOLUME KEYS AND POWER KEY until emui screen, then release. The update installs automatically.
3) First Boot can take some minutes, wait patiently...
Second flash: update_full_FRD-AL10_all_cn.zip
4) Unzip archive and transfer extracted file named "UPDATE.APP" inside "dload" directory. (click "Yes" for erasing previous file)
5) Turn off phone, wait 10 sec.. Turn on phone by PRESSING BOTH (UP AND DOWN) VOLUME KEYS AND POWER KEY until emui screen, then release. The update installs automatically.
6) And... Boot again... ^^
Third flash: update_data_full_public.zip
7) Unzip archive and transfer extracted file named "UPDATE.APP" inside "dload" directory. (click "Yes" for erasing previous file)
8) Turn off phone, wait 10 sec.. Turn on phone by PRESSING BOTH (UP AND DOWN) VOLUME KEYS AND POWER KEY until emui screen, then release. The update installs automatically.
9) All files were flashed! OTA update will not give you updates because it's the latest OTA update (currently)...
10) If any issue, Factory Reset can help.

Hi folks,
I got this CLT-AL00 (CN) and the phone is amazing, though is running the Chinese firmware and it has some restrictions in Europe. I did some research today about changing the firmware to CLT-L29 and it confirmed what I feared.
But still I will ask anyway because long time since my last Android, can I install the Stock version of CLT-L29 and success? or it will brick/fail because its a firmware for another country?
Right now the phone is not rooted and it runs:
- Build number: 9.0.0.187 (C00E57R1P15) GPU Turbo
- EMUI version: 9.0.0
- Bootloader Version: Chipset-boston9.0.0.001(0416)_FASTBOOT
- Vendor Component Version: Chipset-boston 9.0.0.001(P.19042504.china)
- Cust-CHN 9.0.0.1(P.EXT4)
- Product Component Version: Product-CLT-LGRP1-CHN 9.0.0(P.19010502)
- Base Software Version: CLT-LGRP1-CHN 9.0.0.187
- Cust Software Version: CLT-AL00-CUST 9.0.0.57(00)
- Preload Software Version: CLT-AL00-PRELOAD 9.0.0.15(c00R1)
- Vendor Country Info: Vendor - all, Country - cn
Another extra questions, do people pay for getting the bootloader code or Huawei still provide it? Or perhaps there are other ways...
You cannot get the code, and without it you cannot do anything. Use the phone as is.

But what about this method? I found it in multiples sites and it's not mentioned the need of having the boatloader unlocked.
Flash Huawei stock Firmware Via Normal Update
1- Create a new folder on your phone storage or in your SD card, and rename it to dload.
2- Download & extract Huawei Mobile Stock firmware & copy the UPDATE.APP file on dload folder
3- In your Huawei Mobile, Open the dialer and enter:
*#*#2846579#*#*
ProjectMenu => Software Upgrade => SDCard Upgrade => OK
4- Select the Update.app that you copy on your phone storage or in your SD card.
5- Now Wait until the installation process completes.
6- When the installation completes, the phone will restart automatically
7- If you have the Data File and you want to flash it to,
8- Create a new folder on your phone storage or in your SD card, and rename it to dload.
9- Download & extract the update_data_Xxxxx & move the new update.app to the dload folder
10- In your Huawei Mobile, Open the dialer and enter:
*#*#2846579#*#*
ProjectMenu => Software Upgrade => SDCard Upgrade => OK
11- Select the Update.app that you copy on your phone storage or in your SD card.
12- Now Wait until the installation process completes.
13- That's it! the phone will restart automatically
