This is the official Oreo update. Zip includes all needed Odin files. For any US carrier as it installs carrier files based on installed SIM CARD:

This is the new Odin, required for flashing Oreo fw. Older versions WILL NOT WORK:

Hey man, I've been in Europe since October and I've definitely fallen behind on this phone. It's an AT&T S8 that is network unlocked. I've got my AT&T sim card but that account is suspended until I get back. Any idea what happens if you don't have a sim in the phone at all? My phone is still on the AT&T FW AQGL. I'd LIKE to keep it AT&T software since I plan on continuing to use it when I'm back in the states. Smart switch says it's up to date, and the phone thinks it's up to date, presumably because it's no on an AT&T network. IT's actually on T-Mobile Europe, or "Vodafone" now. I know, read read read, and I'm reading as much as I can in what little time I have, but I'm starting to run into some convoluted info.

You can install it, not sure what carrier it would install the files for though.
Can this be installed over Oreo beta on the at&t s8?

If we're on the crb9 from the firmware.science website prior to ota push, do we need to flash this to get back on ota paths?
Doubtful, but going to do it just to be safe.

Also, a question for the those most familair with Odin.
Some Odin files have a Userdata file and some do not (like this package).
Is that file not needed to use this? If so why?

That file is never really needed. I've never used it once, and I don't use the HOME_CSC to ensure a full proper wipe

Wrong. The userdata contains the odexing files for the system and carrier specific files configurations, etc. 1.5GB isn't just nothing, it is required for your system to run properly.

I have not tried this on the S8, but on an AT&T S7 SM-G930A, flashing the unlocked phone with AT&T frimware wether its ODIN or SMGTOOLS or TWRP OR via OTA ***DOES NOT AFFECT THE LOCK STATUS*** ***NOTE: If you own the G950U , you might accidently lock it to T-mobile if you flash with the wrong simcard/firmware combo****

From what Iv'e come to understand... Some Older Firmwares had this data stored elsewhere, but more recently they have been separated from the other images.
I believe they are intended to hold carrier specific setting and other important information for those carrier specific ROMS/IMAGES. For example, when my G950U is flashed to a T-mobile Rom I cannot Video Call anyone on my AT&T SIM It shows the button but I cant click it.... But if i flash it to the att rom everything works great!

Check in download mode which model it says
Tell us why you cant flash back the 930A firmware in odin! Odin should flash back any firmware but you can always try to use samsung KIES to flash the firmware for you and if you do that then it will ask for your device serial and it will pick up the right firmware that was on there from day 1.

ODIN won't flash the wrong model firmware, it shouldn't anyway, if you manage it you are likely going to end up with a brick
its says SM930U
but shouldnt my firmware say 930a since i have the att variant it just confused me a bit, i am happy cause this vision has no bloatware other than samsungs just curious as to why i was samsung kies is not compatible with the s7 by the way

Samsung kies works fine. You need kies 3 and put the phone in download mode and select recovery from the tab on the upper left side so you can flash back the default firmware that came with your phone.

And how you know it was a 930a? Because a and u versions are not the same. The A version is locked and carrier branded while the u is unlocked. Maybe they gave you a 930u on a att contract.
Before i rooted it i said 930a dude i am not on here for games i was wondering how ? going to put a tmobile sim car in lets see if its actually unlocked
so i popped a tmobile sim into this s7 and got this which clearly shows me i am not unlocked but running unlocked software
I recently bought S7 SM-G930F, but when I went into it's phone info and recovery, I saw that it has a Verizon bootloader. All the rest is of 930f. even the phone says 930f everywhere. I am not sure what this is. I am also facing some signal dropping issues, especially when I switch on to data network. I did the refurbishment check and it came out clean and original.
Can someone please guide me how to fix this? Perhaps a way to change the bootloader to that of 930F without screwing up the phone?
Please find the pics attached for reference.
Thanks in advance for the help.

either you have flashed a phone with G930F kernel and rom
or whoever sold this to you tried to scam you
dont flash the F bootloader
Your phone is the verizon version which are much cheaper in comparison to the unlocked exynos variants
Flash verizon rom to get back proper caLL functions

Thanks for the response. I think I got scammed then. Two things though:
1) It somehow seemed to work the 1800 band for 4g, which is supported by 930F and not 930V I believe.
2) secondly, even the back of my phone says 930F .. like everything about it says 930F .. like is even the body changed??

Firmware - G930VVRS4BQC9
Process is simple if u know how to use odin its like regular flash.
And yes this firmware comes with all the verizon bad stuffs but good thing is that most of them can be disabled.I wouldnt care if i wanted to use Nought on my phone.
Still network signal is poor though.

I believe this is the Sammy Linky: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-N950U1/ATT/download/N950U1UEU1AQH9/187097/
Of course download takes hours unless you have a premium account.
I am no developer, but I am wishing someone like @Tkkg1994 will get a Note 8 and build his infamous CSC Tool
i read somewhere that for ATT wifi calling to work, your IMEI needs to be already registered as ATT phone... unlocked doesn't work as IMEI no match even with ATT firmware. but let us know how to goes.

I have an AT&T branded Note 8 and mine is running N950USQU1AQH7.
Double check your model number before downloading any firmware.
The SamMobile site is not listing the Korean built Note 8 (SM-N950U) firmware for AT&T, only the Vietnam built version (SM-N950U1).
Not sure what the differences are in the firmware, but it's best to use caution.
Has anyone successfully (or have any info regarding) converted from a SM-G930U (7.0) to a SM-G930T (8.0)?
I have a completely stock, working S7 SM-G930U (that I previously converted from SM-G930V), updated to the latest Unlocked 7.0 version. I was eager to get Oreo, but didn't want to wait for 930U firmware so decided to just switch to the T-mobile version because I'm on a T-mobile MVNO. However, when I tried just flashing the G930T files with Odin it fails right after the "emmc_appsboot.mbn.lz4" step (whatever that is). This made the phone unbootable and would just boot loop.
I was able to successfully recover the phone by re-flashing the G930U files again after downloading from Updato. So the phone is working again, but I'm right back where I started.
So, my question is: Is there something different that I should be doing, or some other secret to go from U -> T, with the intent of getting Oreo? Would it work if I flashed the 7.0 version of 930T, then taken the OTA update?
Edit: As indicated in the responses below, the solution is the latest Odin version (3.13.1), and I successfully converted. Good luck!

You need to update your Odin. Oreo ROMs use a new compression format that your old Odin can't handle.

Update to what? I was using 3.12.7.
Edit: OK, looks like I found it. 3.13.1 is for Oreo, etc. Thanks for the heads-up.
Hi. I have the same Verizon s7 and have also got a 930u rom on it but I am desperate for Oreo. Have you managed to successfully flash the 930t oreo rom? And if so where did you download it from?

Yes, I was successful. You can get the firmware from Updato here: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=SM-G930T&exact=1&r=&v=Oreo(Android+8.0.0)&rpp=15
But ignore their update instructions, as they are outdated and meant for Nougat and below. You need Odin 3.13.1, from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/guide-flash-oreo-g955fxxu1crb7-using-t3755789.
If you try with an older Odin version it will soft-brick your device (as I found). Otherwise flashing instructions are simple and the same as when you switched to 930U.
Great thanks. I will try it!
I can't get it to start. I've loaded up the firmware into odin, connected the phone in download mode and it won't start flashing. What could I be doing wrong and is it worth doing anyway?

I can't tell you if it's worth it (I think it is). But you also need the Samsung USB drivers installed on your PC, and you need USB debugging turned on, etc. Make sure you have a working connection before flashing.
It worked. Thanks!
Does it has the whole bloatware thing???
I'm still gonna flash it, but I wanna know, cuz I'm not in my house right now, and also is it laggy???

Define "bloatware thing". There's like half a dozen T-mobile apps, plus a small handful of other "pre-installed" things like Whatsapp, etc. Virtually all of them can be disabled. The only one I've found that can't is the official T-mobile account app. But I just cleared the apps data, and never use it. I'm not logged in or anything, so it sits there idle.
Regarding "laggy", I can't really say. It works as well as Nougat did. And I think I can say the battery life is definitively better.

U firmware is just firmware without carrier bloat. You can flash any carrier on an unlocked phone. I provided the link to my thread with the official TMobile Oreo stock files just get Odin. https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm.../sm-g930t-official-stock-oreo-update-t3810449
hello. I had flashed my smg930a with smg930U firmware. after that everytime I restarted my mobile, it showed error " no network connection " sometimes it picked up network after a restart and sometimes it picked up network after weeks. Tried flashing smg930a firmware again but the error remains same. Now i flashed it with smg930t firmware hoping the error will end but it shows "searching" and I've no network connection.
any help will be great.
Hi, there's bloatware and it's mildly annoying as is the t-mobile splash screen and sound effect. I'll switch bach to 930u when Oreo is available. You'll also have no data toggle swith in the shortcuts when you pull the screen down. However, I added mine using adb. You can also uninstall programs uing adb but I haven't. If anyone has the adb script for removing t-mobile apps I'd be greatful if they'd post it.

Call your network provider or carrier and see if they can change the settings or to make sure your data settings are set up right. Things like apn settings, network, etc.

What network SIM are you using? You kind of need to match the firmware with the carrier you are using, as it enable certain radios. That being said, the 930U should work universally. If it doesn't, then you probably didn't update or use the right APN settings to enable LTE. You'll have to do some online searching to look for the appropriate APN settings for your carrier, especially if you are using a firmware version that doesn't match your carrier.
I have Tmobile G930t.
Can i install G930FD indian rom in it?

New to rooting, used the SamPWND forum post to root, now recovery mode doesn't have a recovery file. I can run into download mode but don't have the stock firmware to flash due to it being ATT and bootloader 5. What are my options?

It should still install att as a csc since you have your sim in it. This device is almost perfect on auto selecting from having some card inserted. I used to try to flash the u1 unlocked firmware on mine and it would revert it self to my csc automatically. It was actually quite annoying. Yeah you can put any firmware on it nearly. Sprint firmware probably wouldn't work on Verizon and vice versa. But in this case yes it will work. All of the US s8s are identical hardware wise
