AT&T tells me that the system won't let me provision wifi calling because my phone is unlocked. Samsung support tells me there is a fix but it's on AT&T's end. I hate getting the run around. Anyone know of a fix

Isn't WiFi calling already on the unlocked version in the call settings?
- Open Phone app
- Select Menu (3 dots top right)
- Select Settings
- Select Wi-Fi Calling
- Turn Wi-Fi Calling on

You can Odin the userdata file of the att version in UMS slot...if you want to try first...success with s8+
I will try this week end to see if the file is on Samsungmobile.com and Odin. This is not a big deal for me, but my dad relies on wifi calling quite a bit. I hope it works.
Thanks for the info everyone! ?

I was able to successfully flash userdata file from carrier firmware without having to fully flash the firmware...it will erase your device so be prepared...download your carrier firmware and only load the userdata file in the UMS slot of Odin...to get it to open you have to edit the Odin config file by double clicking it and editing the section for UMS/patch from 0 to 1....pm me if u want

I believe this is the Sammy Linky: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-N950U1/ATT/download/N950U1UEU1AQH9/187097/
Of course download takes hours unless you have a premium account.
I am no developer, but I am wishing someone like @Tkkg1994 will get a Note 8 and build his infamous CSC Tool
i read somewhere that for ATT wifi calling to work, your IMEI needs to be already registered as ATT phone... unlocked doesn't work as IMEI no match even with ATT firmware. but let us know how to goes.

I have an AT&T branded Note 8 and mine is running N950USQU1AQH7.
Double check your model number before downloading any firmware.
The SamMobile site is not listing the Korean built Note 8 (SM-N950U) firmware for AT&T, only the Vietnam built version (SM-N950U1).
Not sure what the differences are in the firmware, but it's best to use caution.

Tell us why you cant flash back the 930A firmware in odin! Odin should flash back any firmware but you can always try to use samsung KIES to flash the firmware for you and if you do that then it will ask for your device serial and it will pick up the right firmware that was on there from day 1.

ODIN won't flash the wrong model firmware, it shouldn't anyway, if you manage it you are likely going to end up with a brick
its says SM930U
but shouldnt my firmware say 930a since i have the att variant it just confused me a bit, i am happy cause this vision has no bloatware other than samsungs just curious as to why i was samsung kies is not compatible with the s7 by the way

Samsung kies works fine. You need kies 3 and put the phone in download mode and select recovery from the tab on the upper left side so you can flash back the default firmware that came with your phone.

And how you know it was a 930a? Because a and u versions are not the same. The A version is locked and carrier branded while the u is unlocked. Maybe they gave you a 930u on a att contract.
Before i rooted it i said 930a dude i am not on here for games i was wondering how ? going to put a tmobile sim car in lets see if its actually unlocked
so i popped a tmobile sim into this s7 and got this which clearly shows me i am not unlocked but running unlocked software
I recently bought S7 SM-G930F, but when I went into it's phone info and recovery, I saw that it has a Verizon bootloader. All the rest is of 930f. even the phone says 930f everywhere. I am not sure what this is. I am also facing some signal dropping issues, especially when I switch on to data network. I did the refurbishment check and it came out clean and original.
Can someone please guide me how to fix this? Perhaps a way to change the bootloader to that of 930F without screwing up the phone?
Please find the pics attached for reference.
Thanks in advance for the help.

either you have flashed a phone with G930F kernel and rom
or whoever sold this to you tried to scam you
dont flash the F bootloader
Your phone is the verizon version which are much cheaper in comparison to the unlocked exynos variants
Flash verizon rom to get back proper caLL functions

Thanks for the response. I think I got scammed then. Two things though:
1) It somehow seemed to work the 1800 band for 4g, which is supported by 930F and not 930V I believe.
2) secondly, even the back of my phone says 930F .. like everything about it says 930F .. like is even the body changed??

Hey man, I've been in Europe since October and I've definitely fallen behind on this phone. It's an AT&T S8 that is network unlocked. I've got my AT&T sim card but that account is suspended until I get back. Any idea what happens if you don't have a sim in the phone at all? My phone is still on the AT&T FW AQGL. I'd LIKE to keep it AT&T software since I plan on continuing to use it when I'm back in the states. Smart switch says it's up to date, and the phone thinks it's up to date, presumably because it's no on an AT&T network. IT's actually on T-Mobile Europe, or "Vodafone" now. I know, read read read, and I'm reading as much as I can in what little time I have, but I'm starting to run into some convoluted info.

Wrong. The userdata contains the odexing files for the system and carrier specific files configurations, etc. 1.5GB isn't just nothing, it is required for your system to run properly.

From what Iv'e come to understand... Some Older Firmwares had this data stored elsewhere, but more recently they have been separated from the other images.
I believe they are intended to hold carrier specific setting and other important information for those carrier specific ROMS/IMAGES. For example, when my G950U is flashed to a T-mobile Rom I cannot Video Call anyone on my AT&T SIM It shows the button but I cant click it.... But if i flash it to the att rom everything works great!
I know these are much tougher to find - can't be obtained from SamFirm or SamMobile. So I'll be uploading one for each carrier, for each bootloader version. Firmware is universal on U models so you can use the other 4 files from any other matching collection. Can probably even mix and match builds, if you can't find files for the exact same build. Can't mix and match bootloaders though, so the other 4 files have to at least be from the same bootloader.
USERDATAs for any other CSCs can be gotten from SamFirm - for the latest version. If you need an old USERDATA for a CSC that's not commonly found on SamMobile (ACG, LRA, TFN, etc), let me know and I can probably get it.
You'll need 7-zip to extract.

PDA G950U1UES6DSG1
CSC G950U1OYM6DSG1
I had it for 5 and didn't realize that this upgrade was 6. I need my wifi calling because I am in the hospital a lot and don't have reception. Please help I would really appreciate it!

USERDATA only applies to U firmware, not to U1. If you don't have wifi calling while on U1 firmware, then you need to change to U firmware, with all of your carrier's bloatware
Cricket USERDATA added for bootloader 6

Thanks! I am not on AT&T but used this to enable future OTA upgrades. Other than the bloat (expected), it worked well.

AT&T puts blocks in their firmware so that OTAs don't work if you're not using AT&T service - even if it's one of their own MVNOs. So if you're not an AT&T customer, you do NOT want to be on their firmware
What are the restrictions on userdata? I assume that the userdata should much the security level? Is there any other restriction

It at least has to match the bootloader version. YMMV if the USERDATA isn't the exact same build as the base files
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have a SM-G950U1 (unlocked Galaxy S8). Can I use this to flash it to make it a SM-950U (ATT locked Galaxy S8)? I want to get the official ATT firmware to be able to use Wi-Fi calling and other ATT features.

It won't SIM lock it. And you won't get wifi calling. But you'll get most of the rest of their features

Hasn't been released yet. T-Mo and Metro are the only ones who have actually gotten a rev 7 OTA so far. But i'll definitely post them when I get access to them.
I did just notice that I had never uploaded the rev 6 Cricket USERDATA, so that is done now

U1 has gotten rev 7, yes. When I said that "T-Mo and Metro are the only ones" that have gotten it, I was referring to the carriers themselves, which is U firmware.

Well firmware is universal - there is no such thing as "Cricket firmware". But there are Cricket USERDATAs, yes. Only thing is that their S8 hasn't gotten the rev 7 OTA yet, so the Odin files haven't been published yet either

No, no rev 7 update for the AT&T or Cricket models yet
New to rooting, used the SamPWND forum post to root, now recovery mode doesn't have a recovery file. I can run into download mode but don't have the stock firmware to flash due to it being ATT and bootloader 5. What are my options?

It should still install att as a csc since you have your sim in it. This device is almost perfect on auto selecting from having some card inserted. I used to try to flash the u1 unlocked firmware on mine and it would revert it self to my csc automatically. It was actually quite annoying. Yeah you can put any firmware on it nearly. Sprint firmware probably wouldn't work on Verizon and vice versa. But in this case yes it will work. All of the US s8s are identical hardware wise
