Interesting.....

Mine came with a screen protector installed.
I don't know about the screen itself, but with the screen protector on, it is much worse at showing fingerprints than my Honor 8.
The Honor 8 came with one of those shipping screen protectors with the little tab to pull it off. The one provided with the Honor V10 is more like one that is meant to stay on at least for a while (no tabby thing). If I am wrong on this, and I should remove it, please advise.
EDIT: Please ignore above. Answered/Explained in this thread:

is the included screen protector necessary ? how does it affect image quality ?

Hello, as I assume most people have noticed, Huawei includes just as sony a screen protector, the question is is it really necessary ? Mate 7 is having gorilla glass 3, but even though it has gorilla glass 3 I have noticed the actual ability to stand drops to the ground is extremely different. It seem that these phones which have the whole front covered in glass just like Mate 7 are a lot more likely to crash, and more sensitive, I did experience this with my Lg G2 lately, samsung devices are better in this regard. I have seen non drop tests yet but because that the metall frame around it is very thin , I think it is more likely that when you drop the phone it will hit the glass.
The biggest irritation with the included protector I have noticed is that finger prints gets stuck very easily on the device, which make it look unclean very fast and you have to clean it often. One other thing is how does the screen protector affect image quality, have any one take it of so they can tell us if the difference is big or small ?
I am waiting for reports, how durable the glass is, I noticed for instance that LG G2 which I had before did get scratches on the glass VERY easily, which made me wonder if really had gorilla glass or not, while with my Old Galaxy note scratches was never a problem...
I will probably sell my device in mid 2015 waiting for the summer/autumn models or even spring.. I do not want ot destroy the second hand value by having scratches on the screen... but there is really no reports yet about how durable the phone is..
I never put a screen protector on gorilla glass. It will become dirty looking soon. Furthermore screen protector doesn't protect your screen from breaking, if it falls down. I had no scratches on my sgs2 after using for 3 years.

Alright good to know but i find it hard to believe that it will not add certain protection
From drops. Yeah I guess it will be more dirty after a while
After having of LG g2 I am sceptical since it did scratch very fast.
I've this one on top of my screen. It's fitting perfectly. Fingerprint resitance is much better as without it. I've the 9H*2.5D Round Edge variant bought @ amazon.de

I oleophobic screen protector : glass, H9. It's thin, antiglare, super easy to adjust and I just forget it in everyday life. And I feel much more confident when manipulating my phone or sticking it into my pocket.
yep, right

After reading some user manage to bend the phone I am now more worried about bending the phone then break the glass.
I have not decide yet what to do, I have decided atleast that I have to remove the original screen protector, it attach fingerprints way too easy..a real magnet for finger prints.
Regarding buying a new screen protector I am sceptical.. I have heard good things about panzerglass ? (from denmark)
I am just worried how it will affect image quality and feel/response of the digitizer.
i have screen protector applied already from manuf. it is very important.. no desorting screen at all ..

well not that much it must have been G-Galss 4 and this is 3 ..
If we have sapphire same like P7 edition.. then it is strong.. and antiscratch
I have noted that the display is not anti fingerprint. So it looks dirty when off screen.
Is there any protector which is scratchless and also anti fingerprints?

Doesn't exist such thing man ..
First you have to realise why you making fingerprints and why scratches are made.. You fingers are CONSTANTLY wet bcos skin is obviously breathing.. secondly you will make scratch in metal easily .. so glass is very easy to scratch .. sapphire glass has diamond layer .. that means diamont is very robust, strong , but brittle.. when you drop it it cracks IF it's thin ..
If you want screen protector and not to see fingerprints , there is solution BUT screen won't be clear but matt .. here

Ive noticed something odd with my mate 7, I have purchased 4 different tempered glass screen protectors and every single one has not properly attached itself on the botton left hand corner. This leads me to believe that the phone screen isnt completely flat. I thonk its possible the phone has bent ever so slightly which makes applying a rigid glass protector impossible. Anyone else had similar?

Mine looks "straight" but you never know it might be hard to see if it has been bent very slightly...
Obviouisly this with bending phones has become a bigger problem I guess in the last 2 years since the phones are getting bigger... that made me think of th LG G Flex, which in this context seem very superior and impressive, since it was impossible to make it change the curve, even if you sit on it..should be possible to do the same techonolgy to make it be straight instead of bent ?
Just an update on this...I noticed this morning when the ceiling strip light was reflecting on my screen that it is actually rippled at the top (around speaker) and bottom left
I presume this is a manufacturing defect as I didnt think you could bend gorillas glass?
Think I may contact the seller. Can anyone else confirm their screen is warped?
My screen is completely flat and the Nilkin tempered glass protector fits perfect, without a single bubble. But i've tried two others, too, believe me, the protector you've bought is a bad one. You find a link in my post on pg 1.
I have now removed the original plastic film screen protector.. it looks better without it for sure..
I have not decided yet if I should buy a glass protector yet..
I wonder have any one done the deep reserach, I hear many recommendations but it is hard to decide if I do not know if the person have done proper research of the the best on the market right now..

Tempered glass screen protector

Just ordered a 6x, do someone know something about a good tempered glass screen protector?
Is the screen flat or curved on the edges?

Mine came with some kind of screen protector already stuck on the screen. Also seems to be fairly stubborn to remove, did anyone else's come delivered with it?
Would prefer to have a tempered one, but the one currently on there seems to be made of glass already.

It's probably a plastic PET screen protector, which has really strong glue on it. I doubt Honor would supply their devices with a tempered glass screen protector straight out the box.
My must arrive on Monday, I hope that there will be a protection like on yours..
Edit:
Arrived today and there is a sort of hard protection on the display, not glass but probably policarbonate, invisible.

Ordered a tempered glass screen protector from nilkin.org, but after paying i noticed the payment going to some russian name, but nilkin is asian as far as i know.
Also, some reviews on google classify this website as a fake / scam.
So for now, avoid nilkin.org.
The official website doesnt list any honor 6x support, so i'll have to wait and see if what gets delivered actually fits, if it even arrives/was sent at all.
i bought the mr shield

didnt like it at all.
if you notice the plastic one that the phone came with it does not cover the screen completely { about 1mm on each side }.
mr shield is exactly the same. makes the phone look bad. im returning this and waiting for someone to make the screen protector correctly

If you're talking about the screen protector from the factory, it's not glass, just a plastic. It's a finger print magnet for sure too. I ordered one of the newer styles that just came on Amazon. Will update with my thoughts when I comes in in a day or so.

Got this one in the mail today: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MU7Y0EG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_40KIyb6NMD2N9
I wanted to try a more edge to edge one and this one is really close. But you do get the raised edges as the curved glass starts. I will see how much it collects dust and probably remove it. It's my wife's phone so she probably won't like it.

Update:
The screenprotector just came in and is the correct one. Unfortunately the same problem persist with the 2.5d glass, the protector doesn't go edge to edge.
So, nillkin.org seems to be legit (enough) to order from. The screen protector box just used a variation on the name 'honor 6x', namely 'Huawei Mate 9 Lite GR5 2017', which is apparently the same phone .

i have a TUDIA Slim-Fit HEAVY DUTY case and the protector and there is a small gap between the case and the screen protector.
if the installation would have been successful, doubt it would last more than a day .

Sounds promising. I like to try a full adhesive one like that someday on mine. Hopefully the gaps on the sides won't be too large on this?
I'm currently using an edge only adhesive glass protector, which covers most of the screen and is case friendly. With that I mean , once the case is on you cannot see gaps on either sides.
Downsides are the black OLED screen looks grey for some reason with the one I'm using . Example with the screen turned off the n9 looks black, but with the screen protector I'm using it looks grey.
For that price, I'd rather get the whitestone. Just me personally.
looks good, damn expansive too, but will it work??
i tried some of these back then for the note 8.
they all lift at edge of both side and the bubbles keep coming back. they just not sticking good enough.

good-luck with you purchase.

I've had bad experiences with the dome glass screen protectors before. No matter what I do there's always glue around the edges that pickup dust which is unacceptable for a screen protector that expensive.

I finally did it, removed the screen protector...what a difference.

Just a comment on feel and use of the phone without the screen protector.
I couldn't stand the feel of my finger catching on the sharp edge of the supplied/installed screen protector but I love this phone so much I didn't want to risk scratching the screen.
Finally I couldn't stand it any longer and had to remove the protector....what a difference. The phone feels way more premium and the finger print coating seems very good. It does seem to be a bit sharper and bright as the protector is a film and not tempered glass. I have to admit that the Mate 20 X has one of the better supplied protectors but wow, what a difference without it.
So glad I removed it and to everyone else out there, who has removed the film and are still using the Mate 20 X without a protector?

I removed the protector when I bought my previous phone, a OnePlus 6, and the next day had scratches on the screen. After that I'll never go naked on the screen again. Am I the only one who hates tempered glass screen protectors?
I was nice for 10 minutes only. While putting on my tempered glass. I just can't go without, have to have a case too.
First thing i always do is to remove the screenprotoctor if applied. I don`t like the feel and never had a scratch on any phone so far.
I removed the screen protector from my P20 Pro and kept using it for months without any scratches. But on the Mate 20 X I removed the protector last week and now I have two big scratches. Maybe because the phone is larger so it is more prone for scratches.
I just gotten a mate 20 x, still with factory film, would like to ask, how does it actually affect the screen quality with and without it? Reason being I feel like there is visible "pixels" or fonts looking a bit jaggedly as compared on my other devices, I'm not sure if its due to the lower PPI (FHD on a 7.2 screen) or because of the factory film..
I compared it with a similar PPI device (8.4 inch 2k OLED display, 358ppi vs mate 20x 7.2 inch FHD 346ppi AMOLED) and the 8.4 inch device seems to look better and "higher quality" when looking at the fonts
First thing i always do when i have a new phone with screen protoctor is removing it and then install a good piece of Nilkin glass protection.
I never had a phone without this and without a flip cover to... And i never will.

Ok just removed my plastic protector, took a look at the screen without anything on then pasted on a nillkin glass.. it does look a tad clearer, but pixels are still somewhat visible, i guess its not the plastic or glass issue, it simply is due to the low PPI count, probably just not used it to (coming from the 6.6 inch honor note 8 with 443 ppi amoled), but overall its still a really good screen
But at least now it is protected by another physical piece of glass and is much smoother, can definitely say that nillkin glass and coating is good, fits and blends in well with the provided TPU case
I didn't dare to remove the stock protector yet.
But: did anybody have a chance to compare using the M-Pen on phone WITH and WITHOUT the original screen protector?
And how the M-PEN works if 3rd party tempered glass is used?

You mean even the M-Pen works fine with the PanzerGlass?
Is it able to detect all the 4096 levels of pressure? You don't have to press harder if you want to draw a thick line?
And one more question: I'm considering removal of the stock screen protector and leaving the display without any protection (because the phone is permanently in flip case). And the question is: wouldn't the usage of M-Pen lead to scratches eventually?
I recently removed the stock screen protector and wow what a difference the screen is silky smooth and feels much better.
I did try to apply a glass protector but both times came out wrong with bubbles in the center so I have decided to go naked with the original kickstand case

Yes it works perfect with the panzerglass as i have right now.
And it works fine to draw a thick line to yes... All is fine.
"And the question is: wouldn't the usage of M-Pen lead to scratches eventually" this i dont have any experience with. But saw in here some days ago a guy telling about this and when he hold the phone in a special angle he could see some small scratches on the display.
The pen is more hard in the end vs the Sammy pen what i remember.

I agree. What a difference.
I used to remove the pre-installed screen protectors on my previous phones, but I too, was a bit scared of ruining this massive 7.2" screen when I first got it.
This is bigger than the previous phones, and this was certainly more expensive than the previous phones.
If you are careful with your phones, I would say you should be fine from all these unwanted scratches.
Some people are so careless, they even put their keys in the same pocket as their phones, and they complain about their phones getting damaged.
For the person saying the M-pen is scratch your screen protector, please remember that this pre-installed screen protector is still only plastic. the tip of the M-Pen is plastic. it IS going to scratch.
Lastly, the number one thing ANY of these screen protectors CANNOT beat, whether it be a film, or tempered glass screen protector, is the oleophobic coating these phones now come with. It was great a few years back, it is even better today.
Minimal fingerprints, and the fingertip gliding feel is unmatched.
I think people should keep some sort of screen protector - either the pre-installed film which IMHO is very good, or a 3rd party film or a tempered glass. Most tempered glass products nowadays are very good and protect the actual screen from scratches. And feels premium too. My AmazingThing tempered glass - so called Supreme Glass, feels nice finger glides smoothly and feel cool to touch too.
I'm sure many boast that they never had scratches after long time of use, but I am sure the scratch marks WILL be there when looked carefully.
Protecting an expensive device is a logical decision.
But sure, to each their own.
Had my factory protector on for the first 4 months or so, then removed it, and it has been 2 months without any screen protector.
The screen feels and looks better.
On hindsight I might have removed it on day 1.
The problem remains that the touch sensing is just laggy, jerky, and glitchy. No difference with or without protector.
Do scrolling tests beside an iPhone to see the difference.

Screen Protector Pre-installed?

Anyone know if there is a pre-installed screen protector like on the past models? Or is the new glass strong enough they no longer need that.
I am not sure, but I just ordered the Whitestone Dome tempered glass protector for the Note 20 Ultra.... it will get here before the phone does.

I would like to know this too. I have seen a couple of unboxing videos and they do come with a screen protector on them but those are reveiw units and there is a hole in the screen protector for the fingerprint sensor. So hopefully retail units will differ. But with the new Gorrilla glass 7 I am thinking it wont.

Sure looks like it could be one.?
Yes it has one on the store models
Which past models came with a screen protector?
It does not have screen protection as it is on Note10 +. It is just a wrapping foil because it has Gorilla Glass Victus which is very resistant to scratches.

I am not sure, but I just ordered the Whitestone Dome tempered glass protector for the Note 20 Ultra.... it will get here before the phone does.

Samsung started to include them on the S10 line.

But glass is glass and glass will scratch. A scratch on glass like Gorilla class is a weak point adding to a chance of it breaking. After all, Glass is glass, and glass breaks.

Only takes few grains of sand in your pocket to scratch that glass
Yes it does.
Yes it indeed comes with a screen protector.
But the quality and degree of protection it offers has not been made clear anywhere by Samsung.
I am attaching a photo of the warning paper which came with the box.
Hope that suffices for all doubters whether it really is a screen protector or just an antidust plastic cover.

Confirmed for my Hong Kong N9860. The camera cut out is the giveaway, otherwise there is almost no sign of the protector. It is extremely well fitted and feels great - smooth and clear like glass - and the fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. And FWIW a clear TPU case was also included, nearly overlooked as I almost didn't bother opening the "paperwork" packaging.
US variant does not.
Looks like samsung usa got fed up with the customer complaints about the factory screen protectors that American customers gave them and put and end to that :good:
I remember folks on the interwebs and on here asking samsung for replacement films under warranty absolutely comical . No wonder they pulled that added feature for certain regions
US version of Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra DOES NOT HAVE SCREEN SAVER

I can verify the US version DOES NOT HAVE A FACTORY APPLIED SCREEN SAVER. I'd been looking to remove it if there were a factory applied screen saver like the Note10 Plus.
My Note20 Ultra has horrible screen response even with the screen sensitivity adjustment in settings on. Attempting to play games is awful especially the recently used window. I'm talking it takes 3 or more attempts actually function. The screen sensor IS picking up taps but erratically if it works at all! ?
Also has anyone else noticed their screen is actually BOWING in the center? Lift it up to a bright light while looking at the surface from an extreme angle. It's only on the screen itself, the back of the device is flawless.
I'm just curious if any else is experiencing this before I make a fool of myself trying to explain it to the world's best customer service dept. when/where there may be a language barrier. ?
Hope this helped a bit and hope to get some kind of feedback from everyday users regarding the bow in the middle of the screen.
THANKS!
UK, from Samsung direct, DOES have a screen protector. No issues so far, My Note 10+ did, I thought maybe my 9 did too but my memory isn't what it was.
Personal experience on 3 phones - don't buy Whitestone - fingerprint sensor wouldn't work. Paid YouTubers say it does 100%, many on here do too, but never for me and it's an expensive fail.

My note 9 didn't have any. But I broke the glas on it and had it repaired and then it came with preinstalled screen protector.
Notwithstanding where on the planet you purchase your Galaxy S20 handset from, it will have a screen defender on it. While it doesn't offer a similar sort of insurance that you can get from a treated glass defender, it works admirably of protecting your showcase from dings and scratches.
Got my N986B Note 20 ultra 5G in France with my carrier SFR and it got screen protector pre-installed
