Hi,
I'm trying to root the China Mobile A3s, but so far unsuccessfully.
Code:
Device Name: A3s
Model: M653
Android version: 7.1.1
Chipset : Qualcomm MSM88917 Snapdragon 425
Kernel version: 3.18.31
Software version: M653_01.33.00RDP_CN.00
BoardID: wt86617AA1
LCD: ili9881c_HD720p_video_TXD
TP:YeJi,Himax852xes,FW:0x3
Alsps:EPL259x
What I was able to do:
-Enable developer options
-Enable OEM unlocking
-Enable USB debugging
-Boot phone into USB diagnostic mode (I think) by pressing vol+ and vol- on boot (device detected as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008")
-Enter service menu by holding vol+ on boot:

Framaroot and Dirtcow checker both fails and there is no TWRP image for this phone (yet?).
Any idea how to root this phone?
The phone probably has a locked bootloader.
All commands executed by fastboot return failed. In the programming options, the OEM lock is switched on.
I was able to download part of the partition in the emmcdl program in download mode. I was unable to download the system partition, the program crashes.
Based on the original recovery, I prepared TWRP from the Redmi 5A phone. Unfortunately, I can not upload it to see if it works correctly.
I attach everything I managed to rip from my phone and my TWRP. Maybe someone will achieve something more.

I just ordered this phone for $59 on Banggood, I hope we'll get some custom ROMs for it!
4PDA.ru has lots of discussion about this. Haven't had time to translate&read what they're talking about.

Hello how do you root the phone?
Cause I want to remove the adware that is (Messaging and Contacts app):crying:
Good news guys @zelendel may support this phone.
I'm thinking of getting one for a secondary phone as my Oukitel C5 is dying.
If we've managed to get rid of the bloated Rom and get AOSP 8.1 that would be so awesome ?
Great news. I think it could be one of the best cheap phones if there was some developer who would make a clean Android system (AOSP or LineageOS) for him.
I can not root and replace twrp recovery,
please help how to root china mobile a3s m653
thanks..
I found something like that, I have not tested yet: https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=895813&st=40#entry72219785

It works!
I uploaded TWRP version 2 as described on 4PDA. Then I installed the SuperSu zip.
I also managed to enable Camera2Api. Now I will try to upload clean software 01.40, without modifying Chinese sellers.

Ahhh ok , cuz i read ur comment just now so , im sorry
I have been doing some research about important backup of samsung files so I found that backup of EFS is very important because it's folder contains
Phone-specific information such as the IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses, product code, and much more. If this thing not handled properly, can turn your device completely useless as it will no longer be recognized by your carrier.
Problem is, flashing custom ROMs sometime can corrupt contains within EFS folder. That’s why backing up EFS folder is very important if you love to flash new ROM.

So I will include that as backup option.
Also same thing with modem looking at twrp github for samsung devices so I will add that to. And my opinion maybe not wise but I think that recovery also need to be included in backup.
That's my 5 cents
Anyone to back me up or to add 5 cents more
Nice work!
Keep it up
Data app 2 ext-sd is possible

But use pc to partition sd as ext4. I would't like you to screw something. google first how to
And 2nd post updated.
Good job . After last update what is not working now

Instructions for unlocking bootloader can be found here
Thank you @20tibby_gt06 for these instructions
TWRP Installation
1 - Download TWRP
2 - Reboot into boootloader mode
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
3 - Check to see if fastboot mode is working
Code:
adb fastboot devices
4 - Change working directory in terminal to your Downloads folder (or whatever folder TWRP is located)
Code:
cd Downloads
5 - Then type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Replace "recovery.img" with the name of your file (I always change mine to recovery.img for less typing in the terminal)
For reasons unknown to me, some people have reported a successful flash with this method but TWRP ends out being non-existent when rebooting to recovery. If this is the case for you try this:
1 - Follow steps 1-4 above
2 - Enter this command instead for step 5:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
This will temporarily boot TWRP onto your device allowing you to flash the needed files to boot LineageOS

Quick question. I know own I shouldn't dirty flash but if I do will it keep the encryption in my external SD?
I use it as internal so I don't want to have to go through setting it all up again!
Will back it up anyway just in case

Also another random question. I find the WiFi in the other lineage rom to be slow.
This to me isn't a deal breaker as the performance difference overall is so much better but it would be interesting to know other people thoughts and if you think it is quicker in this new ROM.
For example I tried remote play and it's a laggy mess and downloading from the play store seems to take much longer than all my other devices.

I will work on a tutorial this evening for everyone for unlocking bootloader and installing twrp. It will be in post 2
One thing for now for you to try is instead of doing fastboot flash recovery recovery.img try fastboot boot recovery.img. that will temporarily boot it allowing you to flash the ROM, Gapps and root if you choose.

Ok encrypted sd caused me no end of issues so did a full wipe.
First bug I have got is in the camera. Keeps asking for sd to be inserted even though storage permission enabled.

Something is wrong. Magisk won't write to sd.
Log collector can't get access to collect the log.
Not sure what's going on!!
EDIT: Sorted it. It was because I had used external sd as internal. For some reason even after a full wipe it was looking for it. I had to tell it to forget it and now all is well.

I managed to install your ROM using the temp twrp install method! Enabled root within rom settings! Installed flashify and gave it root permission then I was able to flash twrp.img permanently via flashify! Rom is lightning fast compared to the stock ROM! WiFi not as fast but I can live with that! Screencast doesn't find my Philips TV but other casting apps find it fine! Excellent ROM! Congratulations to the developer
Antecipating issues in this matter, and mostly because of my experience on a Gionee phone, being about a month with the phone turned to a brick...

EDIT: I've found that the first part is not necessary.
1. Activate developer options and enable this options: OEM unlocking and USB debuging. Power off the phone
2. Put phone into Fastboot mode. Vol - + Power
3. Use adb to unlock bootloader and install TWRP as recovery
4 Download this rom to flash by TWRP: https://devs-lab.com/download-letv-official-stock-rom.html * The one for x520 (Qualcomm)
5. In TWRP select Wipe and do a dirty or clean (as you want) wipe before flash the rom, once it's done go back to menu, copy the ROM (zip) into the internal memory of the phone and flash it!
6. Reboot and wait till phone boots
7. Baseband and IMEI's back working!
My problems were solved doing this.... still don't know why... but worked
Hope will help anyone with similar problems
PD: Sorry for my english, isn't my mother language.
Greetings
Is it possible to use either x520 or x526 files to recover x522 device?

So when it comes to the newly released EMUI8 for Honor 9 things get a little bit tricky, as we don't have any official update for our region yet (only for C900 and AL variants - chinese).
Every file i provided have been built during the way finding how stuff works on oreo - and alot of stuff changed EDIT: Official update is out for C432 - i recommend to not use the provided TWRP for daily, reliable usage.
PART 1
0. download the B360a zip from my mega folder
1. read README.txt from fw zip and follow the steps carefully (easy install)
2. have fun with official oreo
Rollback instructions
1. copy the rollback zip and nocheck recovery (!!oreo version!!) to the root of your MicroSD card
2. enable usb debugging in developer options
3. connect your phone to your computer, start an adb shell and issue the following commands:
Code:
dd if=/storage/sdcard1/STF_RECOVERY_OREO_NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery_ramdisk
dd if=/storage/sdcard1/STF_RECOVERY_OREO_NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/erecovery_ramdisk
echo --update_package=/sdcard/update_rollback_al10c00b190.zip > /cache/recovery/command
4. last but not least reboot recovery, again in adb shell:
Code:
reboot recovery
5. your device should start to flash a chinese version of nougat (EMUI 5.1)
hint: if you get an error during the installation, just press the reboot button, it still boots.
device crashes during boot? do a low-level data partition format, boot into erecovery when you get asked to.
6. prepare the MicroSD (8gb atleast, exFAT formatted)
download the C432 firmware and extract it
copy the dload folder you extracted to the root of your MicroSD
7. if required unlock your bootloader
8. flash the nocheck recovery (nougat version) to recovery and recovery2 partition using fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash recovery STF_RECOVERY_NoCheck.img
fastboot flash recovery2 STF_RECOVERY_NoCheck.img
9. boot your device into force dload mode (keep vol+, vol- and power pressed until the installation starts)
10. you should boot into a fresh L09C432B100 installation
I've uploaded every file you need for the process to mega.nz - please do not mirror any of the stuff provided!

Huge thanks to @LastStandingDroid for providing the modified SuperSU installation package.
Best Regards,

To fix the file manager, open your root file explorer and follow the steps carefully:
1. create a folder called "normal" in /cust/hw
2. create a second folder in the previously created one, name it "app"
3. now move HwCloudDrive_Local folder from /cust/hw/eu/app to /cust/hw/normal/app
4. reboot
Thank you!
I'll try it!

What i have to do?
Format to FAT32 or what?
So awesome, thank you for that.
Is there a version of this that will work the same or similar on the P10 (standard P10). Thanks

Ok...but i don't have Huawei "Support" or account or idk what.....but for example...the themes app is different, because i can't log in any Huawei Account ...it's not an option to log in :\
Hi! And first of all, thanks a lot for this guide as you just gave hopeless H9 owners a bit of light...
Now I haven't gone through the process yet but I got a bit confused as of part.3 (that is recommended but not needed), should we unroot BEFORE flashing Ramdisk and Recovery Ramdisk? I then have an old UnSu script by Osmosis, would it work or the "Full Unroot" option from the SuperSu app is okay?
Thanks in advance for your reply and Thanks again for this guide!! Cheers

leecopro3 ai.zip
1.82 GB
1.) install the adb fastboot on the pc
2.) activate the debug usb
3.) unzip the leecopro3 ai.zip in a directory
4.) start the phone in fastboot mode (with the phone off, press volume down and then the power button)
5.) connect to the pc and then click on the file "x7_fastboot_tool.bat" and wait for the process to finish. (it may take 10 minutes to start/finish.)
If the file or folder error is not found, copy the all unziped rom files in the ADB folder, where is the fastboot located.
and then click on the file "x7_fastboot_tool.bat" and wait for the process to finish.(it may take 10 minutes to start/finish.)

You must activate developer options, oem unlock and usb depuration, when you start in fastboot mode you must unlock the bootloader and then flash the rom.

By now you can't root this device without the probability of lose the imei.
With kingroot 5.3.3 you can get a temporal root until restart without danger, with this and for example "root uninstaller" or "titanium backup" you have time to freeze or deinstall the chinesse apps and use "l speed" for tweak it.
