Mate 9 - graphics benchmarks results in Oreo - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Can anyone share their results in graphics benchmark apps? I'm asking for Oreo either January or February 2018 patched.
I'm looking for results in 3DMark and GLXBench specifically.
Basically, while all the reviews state that 3DMark should work great I'm getting max 1100 points (as opposed to any reviews >2000).
GLXBench 4 fails to run some test with "out_of_memory" errors.
GLXBench 3 fails to run any test at all.
Now, I guess most review tests were done on Nougat, as launched, so there might be some differences, but the current results are way off.
This on a B363, updated to B364, L29C432.
FYI testing the CPU, with PCMark and GeekBench4, shows results as expected, lower than Nougat, but pretty close.
Thanks

C567 running B360:
3DMark - Sling Shot Extreme
OpenGL ES 3.1 - 2057
Vulkan - 1564
Slingshot - OpenGL ES 3.0 - 2008.

MHA-L29 @ C432, Oreo 363
I have noticed similar lower scores with Oreo update, varying scores of 1200-1500 in 3DMark, depending of the phone heat.

Mine is not great but the phone is smooth and does not lag so I guess it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I see, the variance is strange.
eg. while PUBG works great otherwise, these bench numbers are odd

Well it also depends what memory you got. There was faster 2.1 and slower 2.0 types. Look through forum it was a kind of scandal when the phone was released.

Wasn't that only on P10?

Mate 9 is also affected. Yea you have slower memory, all of the europe got slower chips I think.

Here is mine

Ok, yeah, https://www.notebookcheck.net/Huawe...models-with-slower-eMMC-storage.214404.0.html looks like it.
@arminbih: What region is yours? You're ok.

i use a EU version MHA-L29 with a SAMSUNG Model: KLUCG4J1ED-B0C1 chip.
This information was given after i enter command cat /proc/scsi/scsi
It seems to be the v2.1 faster one.

Yep, TOSHIBA THGBF7G9L4LBATRC -> 64Gb, UFS 2.0 it is.

Got this with my European Mate 9 under Oreo 363 (rooted, but I don't think it makes any difference).
Plugged to the charger during the whole benchmark

First RK3288 prototype board pics released - Ugoos UT3

Was just reading this news that the Ugoos UT3 prototype board pics and specs have been released.
RK3288 SoC is looking very nice indeed, the UT3 looks like it has 2 HDMi ports, one for 1080P and one for 4K+2K video. Specs look pretty heavy duty all around. Very interesting looking TV box.
Also the Mali T764 GPU is another interesting feature.
Take a look at the pics of the board (more pics in the news article I linked to above), what other info can anyone gleam from the components they can see?

Looks promising. Any clearer, higher resolution pics? When are samples supposed to be ready. I heard this gets an Antutu benchmark of around 20k?

20k? Wat?! RK3188 had about 18k. If this is true Cortex A17 It must have much higher score even with A12 must have higher than A9. And Mali T760 MP4 is much much powerful than super old Mali-400 MP4. Sadly is "only" quad core, 6 or 8 core would be more powerful. But still must be more powerful than Samsung with T628 MP6.
Great news, when we are going to see retail Tablets /TV boxes based on this SOC?
I have just ordered the Tronsmart Vega S89, so I am existed to check those new powerful SOC's.
we will not know what the actual antutu of this device is until it is released. ETA is 40 days

Is this tablet worth $700?

Looking at picking up the 64gb Wifi version on Amazon for just a hair over $700. I'd really like to have the LTE version to use with my AT&T account, but it looks like I'd have to sacrifice the ability to flash custom ROMs to do so. A quick Google search says that the Lollipop update is due by the end of next month for the Wifi version. I can get a used or open box version much cheaper, but I worry about some of the problems I've seen posted about and also possibly a year's worth of wear on the non-replaceable battery.
So what do you guys think? Having owned this tablet for about a year (some of you, I presume) would you pay $700 knowing what you know now?
P.S. Does an installed micro SD card stick out the side of the tablet or can it be installed and the cover closed for permanent use?
I've got the LTE version, in my opinion very much worth the 700 dollars. (I paid $966 for it). It has the exact same hardware as the Note 3 N9005, which is almost as expensive with a much smaller screen.
Battery lasts about 5 weeks in standby, almost 18 hours when watching films (Which is a dream on this thing. 12.2" 2K ). Readability in sunlight is good. I haven't encountered any problems so far.
I'm not so sure about the WiFi edition, as it has a weaker Exynos and Mali, (Same as the N900 Note 3) no fast charging (relevant with 9500mAh, as even with Qualcomm fastcharge it takes about 6 hours) and several people report issues with bluescreens. If you're interested in gaming, a lot of games aren't compatible with the Mali GPU. Then again, it does have customROMS, a few. Though this thing is very fast without them.
As for the MicroSD, it's covered by a lid, doesn't stick out at all.

Yep. It does. Pretty much straight and forward, right? The device by itself is excellent. Great hardware specs (as said previously, like N9005) and the 12.2" is kind of AWESOME for pretty much everything.. from games to navigate in the web.. I paid $600, brand new, but for sure I would pay a hundred bucks more for such a great device.

Okay, okay, you convinced me... just ordered an Open Box 32gb LTE variant from eBay for $450. Any dangers in rooting, at least?

There are some people who have issues with freezes after rooting (on all variants). Make sure you freeze everything KNOX-related, as that causes it.

Nexus 5 2015 hits AnTuTu, Scores A Mind Boggling 85,530!

According to recent reports, we may see two Nexus devices this year , one made from Huawei and another one from LG. It looks like one of the Nexus devices just made an entry in the AnTuTu benchmarking site, blowing everyone’s mind with a score of more than 85000!

If you remember, the Samsung Exynos 7420 chipset is currently on top of AnTuTu with 65000+ points. However, with a score of over 85,000 this Nexus device beats Samsung’s chip by over 20,000 points.
This brings us to the big question, what exactly is running inside this Nexus device? Well, AntuTu 5 doesn’t reveal much about the specs inside the device, but the phone probably will come with the new Snapdragon 820 chip from Qualcomm. While the score is still too good to be true, considering Qualcomm’s desperate need for a comeback with 820, the company could have boosted its performance to a whole new level.
What we do know is that the phone will be called as the Nexus 5 (2015) model , which probably means that LG is not sticking with the incremental naming policy. Also, this may also give us a clue about the screen size, as you can expect it to be around 5-inches (5.2-inch would be just perfect). The Nexus 6 came with a monstrous 5.9-inch display, but it was too big to handle. So, this could actually be a good move. The resolution is surprisingly just FHD, which would be a downgrade from the QHD display on the Nexus 6.
Anyways, if the performance of Snapdragon 820 is really this good, we would like to know whether it overheats like the current generation 810. But we hope Qualcomm will have learnt its lesson by now.
Usually, Google announces its Nexus devices in fourth quarter of the year and we expect the company to continue the tradition this year too. By then, there could be a couple of Snapdragon 820 powered smartphones like Xiaomi Mi5 in the market. So, things could get interesting pretty soon!

One web says Snap better http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-820-vs-Exynos-8890-flavors-compared_id79141
One says Exynos faster http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s7_exynos_8890_vs_snapdragon_820_speed_test-news-17429.php
Bit confusing
From what i've read:
SD820: Pro's: More support for ROMS, Adreno perfoms better than the Mali.
Exynos: Pro's: Better DAC (Wolfson), better batterylife, runs cooler.
Mine is Exynos. It is really cool. I used to have a xperia Z3 with snapdragon 801 which was very hot sometimes.
My s7, even in a heavy game, the phone does not get hot.
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
S7 SD820
Pro: Better GPU performance
, Slightly better cpu single core performance than exynos. Better modem support for new technology such as LTE-U/LAA.
Con: worse optimisation than exynos, Less efficient = shorter battery life., Locked Bootloader = no root and custom rom(with an exception for Chinese S7.)
S7 Exynos 8890
Pro: Better optimisation and more efficient = faster day to day task like opening apps and more battery life., Unlocked Bootloader allow root and some custom rom. Better cpu multicore performance. Better DAC output quality.
Con: worse gpu performance compare to sd820.
Keep in mind that the different is little so it shouldn't affect real life usage much.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Exynos is better in pretty much everything. The SD820 might have a more powerful gpu, but it cant dustain its peak performance for long, aside from the fact that the gpu in exynos can handle everything out there same as the adreno does. So really just do yourself a favor and get yhe exynos to experience the true power of powerful hardware with amazingly optimised software
I have Exynos S7 Edge, the first thing I noticed is how cold to the touch it normally is, even playing games doesn't warm it up much.. And the battery life, lasts for ages, easily two days with quite a bit of use, so very happy with it... The always on display for the time is actually quite nice, I don't look at my watch as much now
thanks, getting Exynos

Question Not a full glass? Real Specs?

Going thru all the settings on my S22U and have a few questions.
My screen refresh rate never goes below 24.
What is reserved memory for? (2.1GB) How much USABLE memory is there? I have different reports (see pics) none equal 12GB.
Storage amount shows as 461 or 462GB GB / 495,6666,016,256 bytes. I get there is differences in the way you count bytes but none are near 512GB.
Maybe I'm missing something?

Some days ago there was an article describing that Samsung have lied about the refresh rate, exactly like you mention it and same with the charging speed which was in an article to.
Now today we have another artice on AndroidArena.
So all the bugs, its a shame.
Hope you find your way on this and get your phone stable.
The S22 serie looks like a lottery, some are lucky, others not.
They now announced a quick update soon

I was aware of the charge time inaccuracy. I thought the refresh rate down to 1Hz was changed to 10Hz on the U variant. I'm at 24 Hz minimum.
I read nothing about the other things.
I was having a problem with not being able to set the screen time out. I did a Factory Reset and now it works. Who knows where the issue was. Yes, it appears pretty buggy.
I've also found out the battery is not 5000mAH . My testing shows 4855mAH.
