Rerolling to Android 6 cause lost data ? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Due to the VR spinning problem I'm thinking to rerolling to Marshsmallow.
However my phone has tons of authentication things on it, especially for work, and it would be a pain in the neck to relogin everything.
Will rerolling to Android 6 cause lose of data or it only change the firmware?
Thanks.

It will wipe your data if I remember correctly.
Although I think the EMUI backup app should successfully restore the app data for those apps. It restores my RSA 2FA token without any issues.

[q] how to enable google now on 5.0 lollipop without having to clean all my data?

Her guys, so here's a thing. I adb sideloaded an OTA update to my phone. I had Google now on KK and after update it was turned on on lollipop as well, but Google search app kept crashing from time to time so i went to settings>apps>all and cleared its data. Well, guess what? It fixed the problem, app doesn't randomly stop anymore, but i lost Google now. and I really wanna get it back. I know the old way to turn it on doesn't work anymore and i read several threads here on this topic so i also know there is a way, but i need to factory reset my phone. Is there any other way so that i don't have to wipe all my data?
P.S. I wish android had some sort of software like iTunes which takes literally everything from your phone, including even information about how you previously had your phone settings, converts it into one file and stores on your computer. After restoring the backup everything is in its place, like you've had before. Damn.

[Q] 2 Apps constantly Force Closing only when Rooted.

Let me start off by saying Im not a n00b at this stuff by any means...I did however decide to go cell phoneless for a couple years, so Ill admit Im probably way behind on everything, but I usually dont have any problems. I got my S5 brand new around Christmas, it had 4.4.4 already loaded on it. I decided instead of going crazy like I did with my GS2 and Vibrant, wanting to customize every aspect of it, Id keep it simple, root it, debloat it myself and be done with it. I rooted it no problem, but everytime I rebooted my phone Google Maps and S Health would force close repetitively, until I went into the priv-app folder and reinstalled Health Services and same with Google Maps. Theyd work fine until I rebooted then it was a rinse was repeat situation every time. I updated to Lollipop through Odin, Rooted it, same issue, same 2 apps. While its not The worst problem to have, it is very tedious. So for the time being, Im unrooted, and I really hate the 734 apps sprint preloads on their phones, and Id like to change a couple things in the build.prop, but Im going with the less annoying option for now. Anyone else have a similar or even the same issue?
Also I guess I should mention Ive tried doing a full Factory Reset, wiped cache and dalvik, and before I have time to login to sync my accounts to my phone, if its rooted they force close over and over.

Is this when you are simply rooted? Or after you have debloated? If so, maybe you removed or disabled something important.
I have tried to keep it simple so far as well. I updated to Lollipop OTA. Even though I took the normal OTA update something about the phone was not right. Maybe some old settings or data causing problems. I did a full data wipe and then flashed this stock ROM. It is Deodexed and has a few things removed, but it mostly stock. I also ran the Debload tool included in that thread to rid myself of all of the Sprint apps. The phone has been super stable and smooth.
This happens once its rooted before I remove anything. I learned a long time ago to be careful what I remove, lol. But like I said, once the phone boots up before I even have the chance to set it up S Health and Google Maps force close and continue to do so until I go into the folder I believe its /system/priv-apps/ and reinstall the Health Service and same with Google Maps. and Ive wiped the phone clean, clearing it of any settings. I knew it wouldnt work, but figured I had tried everything else, but I even tried moving them to my external sd. I guess its just one of those things, Ill either figure it out or just keep it unrooted for a while.
That doesnt mean if someone has any ideas I dont want to hear them though.

Huawei Mate 8 OS Services

I recently upgraded to a Huawei Mate 8, and it's a brilliant device. But I've found I hit my data cap way too often, I checked in the settings. services is consuming half my data, the whole time!
I checked forums and read posts about it being backup services or device updates or so forth but im at a loss. still happening. Even after disabling everything its still a data hog.
Could I turn to you for advice? I really don't want to do a factory reset on this device and lose all my settings.
(Btw anyone who owns this phone, how do you turn off in the huawei keyboard, its really starting to annoy me.)
hm do u have google keyboard installed? ive seen some users reporting that it has an insane data usage until u clear the app data

I actually do have it, but Huawei let's you turn off data usage on individual apps and I've literally turned off everything except things like WhatsApp and its still happening.
Clear the app data for Google Keyboard anyway. It is a known issue.

[EMUI9.1][M5Pro] CPU always at 100% and lagging

Hello, everybody,
since even a factory reset didn't lead to any improvement, I'd like to try to find out if the problems I've had since the OTA of my MediaPad M5 10.8) Pro to version 9.1.0329(C432E5R1P3) affect other users.
Since the update, the four large cores are constantly at full stop in terms of their maximum frequency. This means, of course, that the device is extremely lying and can hardly be used anymore due to the long delay. I would be grateful for any idea paving the way for a solution to very problem.

After the factory reset did you restore your phone from a Google Cloud Backup? If so you should try to factory reset again but choose the fresh start option during setup and install your apps manually. Restoring a Google Cloud Backup made after you started experiencing problems with your device can also restore the corrupted system data or app data that caused your problem.
No I didn't restore from Google Backup. I always do a setup from scratch on my devices.
The problem solved itself yesterday. With the new 9.1.0.330 OTA my problems are gone.

General Problems with the Galaxy Watch4 so far....

Hello community,
I'm listing the problems I have faced/ still facing with the Samsung Galaxy Watch4. If you have a solution, please comment. If you have other watch problems, please mention them with solution, if available.
Much of the problems below started AFTER doing a factory reset.
1. If I make a call from the watch, the contact picture doesn't show up in the background. I don't think it was like this before doing a factory reset.
2. If I get a call on the watch, the contact picture is very blurry. This is after a factory reset. Before the reset, it was fine.
3. Galaxy Wear app on my phone frequently fails to sync watch's battery info on the app. Same is true of Smart Things app. I have noted some of my observations and potential solution here and here. But other things are mostly fine on the app.
4. Although this happened only a couple of times, it is still worth mentioning: organizing the apps inside the Apps section in Galaxy Wear app did not sync the changes to the App Drawer on the watch. All changes done simply vanished, and I had to redo everything again.
5. There is no built-in way to backup the watch faces downloaded from the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store. And without root, Android (including WearOS) doesn't support backing up app data. This is just very pathetic.
The watch faces (only the APKs, not the app data) can be manually backed up using a file manager app. But it must be sideloaded using ADB, something most users wouldn't be comfortable with.
Limitations/ Drawback
1. One can't unpair a watch without having to do a factory reset to pair again.
2. One should not delete the app data for Galaxy Watch4 Manager app on the phone. If you do, you'll have to factory reset the watch to pair it again with the phone.
3. One should not delete the app data for Google Play Services app on the phone. If you do, you'll have to factory reset the watch to pair it again with the phone.
4. Watch Faces (with very few exceptions) don't come up with import/ export of configurations. If a watch face is uninstalled, it must be setup all over again.

To unpair a network reset would do it...
Try clearing the system cache for any type of glitch.

I meant if you unpair the watch from the Bluetooth devices section or do a network reset on the phone, you'll have to factory reset the watch to pair it again.
Clearing system cache didn't help with any of the problems reported above.
I think this battery related problem is caused by apps on the watch that need a companion app on the phone. I'm not sure about it yet.

That's very odd. It sounds like a default setting has been changed somehow. Lol, a factory reset is not a viable option. You're missing something.
Maybe a third party app.
Does Wearables have all it's many needed permissions?
Disable all global power management... destroyer of worlds.
Play with it, Android's wuv attention

Someone said it is for security purposes, although it wasn't immediately clear how. Since it is designed to be that way, there should be good reasons for it, even if I haven't figured that out yet. It is not a permissions issue or optimization issue.
I have quite a few (about 30) watch faces, and the thought of factory reset scares me away. So I am careful about how I play with it.

Maybe uninstalling/reinstalling Wearables rather a reset. Sounds like another Samsung bug.
Lol, this N10+'s load is over 2 yo now. Androids should rarely need to be factory reset. One reason I like them so. Also why I avoid upgrades and updates once I have a fast, stable load.

If you have a Samsung account you can actually back up your watch and all its data just like a phone and when you set up the watch again you can choose to recover from the backup. Its in your watch settings on the wear app.

The Galaxy Watch4 Manager app stores the pairing key. If you uninstall it or delete its app data, you'll have to factory reset the watch to pair with your phone (or any device) again.

That backup is a useless thing. It only backups up your Quick Settings layout and a handful of System Settings. It doesn't backup any of the downloaded watch faces. And it doesn't backup watch configurations either.

Well, that's bad design. I thought it did a full backup, must've imagined that. My apologies.
Seems like the faces and their data are stored in the apps themselves. I was checking on that the other day and I would download 10 faces and go check the info under storage for the app and it would keep getting bigger in size. So, my question is how do you back up the app but not have it backup the apk instead. I can't even locate the physical app anywhere on the phone to try and back it up. Are the super top secret hidden or something? I'm stock android and have no way to root my phone. Has to be a way to at least do that right? Anyone?

See if SmartSwitch can back it up. Do Not use SmartSwitch to backup critical data though. It can be used to back Homepage and apps as well. Otherwise you will need to reload them.
There maybe a way using adb.
Always redundantly backup critical data including contacts to at least two hdds (copy/paste folders) that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC. Otherwise you will likely lose the data eventually.

I'll give it a shot. I have a small raid set up that I use only for my phone well, because it is small and not useful for much else. Thanks.

I would use multiple hdds that are isolated from each other so a near lightning strike, fire, trojan, whatever can't wipe out all the copies at once.
