I am thinjing of buying a mate 8, but knew from a fan site in Egypt, that some of them found a problem of having some light /white pixels on the screen when it is off/black ?
Is that seriois and happen ? Does it have any remedy ?
hm to be honest this is the first case of stuck pixels ive read about and ive been on the mate 8 forums here on xda since the very beginning. so im guessing its just an isolated incident, no worries

Thank you very much.
Do you have info about the Oppo R7 Plus ? It is cheaper here than the mate 8, and on paper, the specs looks close really.
Thanks again
Don't know where you are located (Egypt?), but in Germany when you buy in a German online shop you can return the item within 14 days without any reason.
Dunno if it's EU-wide.
Additionally if you buy it in a retail shop, you could ask for starting the device before you buy it. Some shops do it, some not. Then you can check for your screen error.
But TBH: never heared about that problem before. Could be software related also...
I switched from a LG G3. The battery lifetime was the only reason. It was so annoying I had to charge the G3 each 4 or 5 hrs... I had wireless chargers everywhere...
With the Mate 8... wow! I come home from work with ~50-60% battery!
Even if you heared from some problems with the screen in Egypt, why no import device then?

Thank you for your replay. Yes am in Egypt, and importing is a bit complicated for inviduals. The well known shops will test the device for you ( after you pay, so it is then a warranty procedure).
I heard that the problem starts after sometime. It can be a software problem as you siad, some people said that found an app on playstore to fix this.
Well, if there's an app that fixes it, then it's a software issue.
Do you know which app it is? I'm very curious.
I just have my mate 8 for 6 days now and very happy. If you like the phone and if you are aware it's a bit bigger (and definately greater ) than your old phone, you will love it.
My LG had the power button on the back. The same spot where the fingerprint reader of the mate 8 is... hah!
If you didn't hold it in your hands yet, you definately should do it. Don't underestimate the size!

I guess the app name is Kill-Pixel.
I love 6 " mobiles, I used then in the last 3 yeras ( Samsung mega, Xperia T2 and LG G2 Pro ), but 2 months ago I bought the htc one e9+ because of its specs. It is reaaly nice but I can not handle the smaller display anymore, so I have to go back to the 6 "
Okay, just wanted to make sure you know how big 6" are.
i agree, i dont think i can go back to sub 6 inch displays after experiencing the mate 8 btw, stuck pixels are actually a hardware problem, which can sometimes be resolved by software, i.e. switching colors and forcing the stuck pixels to get unstuck same principle applies to laptops or desktop monitors.

launcher for Mate 8
I know that mate 8 does not have app drawer, and is similar in its UI to the iphone. I can not live with this UI, so my qestion is , has any body tried any launcher ( Nova for eaxmple) ? Are these laumchers work smoothly with the mate 8, or what ?
i can definitely recommend nova launcher. have been using it on my mate 8 since day 1, works without a hitch

If I'm not mistaken you still get colored square background to all apps which look horrible. Try simply google if your in to rooting/custom firmware.

Lol, no :good:
OK .... So now I'm thoroughly confused.
I ordered both the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro (because of Amazon generous return policy). Initially I got the Mate 9 because of price.
The first disappointment is that the Mate 9 Pro apparently had only dual SIM sorry and NO micro SD ??? Is that correct? Why in the heck would they limit you like that?
More importantly and I can't get a clear answer ..... Do the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro have different cameras ??? Huawei customer support was thoroughly confusing!! Anyone have hands on comparison of the 2 devices. I could probably survive only 128gb of storage of the camera is truly different and better!
You are right. Pro dont have microsd slot, only dual-sim and 128gb memory (6gb ram). Camera's is same on both. Only differences betweed Mate 9 and Pro is memory and screen.

That's what it appeared on the specs BUT ..... the Huawei support person acted like cameras were different .. Also there is a Chinese (sounds like) YouTube video that compares Mate 9 to Mate 9 Pro and shows much worse images with the Mate 9

Does he/she shows pictures straight from mobile screen to video camera or?... I have used both and opened both phones and they definetely had same camera. I havent noticed any differences with picture quality. Of there really is differences then its caused by firmware, maybe pro has tweaked more?

Hi guys, please help me, i am unable to cast Amazon Prime from MI note 7 pro however i can do it with MI note 5 pro.
When i cast Amazon Prime from Mi note 7 pro i am only able to listen the Audio however video went black.
I am wondering if i am the one who is facing this or i need to install some software to do that, i believe if it is possible with note 5 pro then it should be possible with note 7 pro.

I have a Chinese Mate 30 Pro 5G updated to EMUI 10.1
Does it have this feature?
Anybody have idea about this? Thanks in advance!
I thought that it was only in a P40 camera app and not a general 10.1 update. Have you seen this as part of 10.1 general update? Would be good but defo not on my 10.1 Mate 30 Pro Chinese yet.

I also thought that it was a new feature of EMUI 10.1 because they passed me a screenshot in a Telegram forum, but in the end it was from a P40 Pro.
In the Mate 30 Pro this feature is not added yet.
Hi everyone,
I have a question: is samsung galaxy watch active 2 compatible with this phone? my parents have bought me an Active 2 and I would like to buy the P40 pro.
I would need that it works with Whatsapp notification (and answer) and phone calls.
Thanks for your attention and help
I have just bought a Samsung galaxy watch 3 and it works perfectly with my p40 pro. The s.g. Active 2 should do the same.

Yep, I have a Gwa2 and p40 pro and they work just fine, albeit there are some random disconnections during the day, it seems that it disconnects and reconnects 2 3 times in a row for no reason, but after that reconnects and stays connected.
The only thing I never accomplished was the ability to set an alarm in your native clock app on the p40 and the watch to vibrate/notify you when it sets off. I guess its because they are different brands, dunno..(same was happening also with my p20 pro)
