Hello there talented bootanimation creators,
Now am not sure how many of you know about the custom Android ROM named crDroid, yet so far we reached v4 based on Android Oreo.
With the advent in the Oreo realm, we wanted to ramp up a bit on the style of our bootanimation and also get the community a bit closer to our builds, so on behalf of our team, I would like to request a new bootanimation from the community.
Anyone can be part of this.

Dear MI 4i users,
We have got a lot of Nougat ROMs for our device recently and most of them are being actively developed.
You may have tried some of them, or may be wanting to try one now. But, with so many available ROMs, you'll be easily confused as to which is the best one yet for your daily use. So, here is little help for you to sort it out.
Note: If you have already tried the ROMs, please vote for your favourite one and help others to decide. You can also share your thoughts on the ROMs you've tried so far in this thread
List of best Nougat based ROMs for MI 4i
[*]AICP 12.1
AICP aka Android Ice Cold Project is highly customisable ROM with lot of features and best community. It also has highly active development with nightly builds, just like CM(used to be )
[*]AOSPExtended
AOSP Extended is an AOSP based rom which provides stock UI/UX with various customisations features along with the Substratum theme engine. The project has been made by cherry-picking various commits from various other projects. Being based on AOSP it provides a smooth and lag-free experience out of the box. We will constantly try to add more features and make it even better in future updates. A ROM by a user, for a user. #StayAOSP #ExtendYourDevice
[*]crDroid 7.1
[*]CyanogenMod 14.1
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.0 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community.
[*]PixelROM
PixelROM is a custom firmware aka ROM for various Android devices. It is built from CyanogenMod 14.1 with additional features, performance and battery life improvements.
The idea behind PixelROM is to give users a ROM that is "blazing fast and buttery smooth".
[*]Resurrection Remix
Resurrection Remix the ROM has been based on CM, Slim Omni and original Remix ROM builds, this creates an awesome combination of performance, customization, power and the most new features, brought directly to your device
[*]Slim7
SlimRoms is a custom android operating system. Our main goal is to offer users a slimmed down yet feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
[*]XOSP 7
Common features:
All ROMs are either LineageOS or AOSP based. So, at minimum, you can definitely see the feature set of LineageOS(or CyanogenMod formely) in all ROMs.
AOSP based ROMS like Slim7, AICP may additionally have their own custom features which are very useful and allow a high-degree of customisation.
Effectively, all the ROMs add their own flavour to the sweeetness of Nougat to make your device a pleasure in hand. :fingers-crossed:
Important : Go through respective ROM thread list of bugs and respective solutions, if any.
•=============================== A VERY USEFUL TIP ===============================• If you're flashing a new Nougat ROM on top of existing Nougat ROM, then there is no need to back-up everything everytime. Just wipe Cache and Dalvik/ART in TWRP and then flash the new ROM.
First boot will take 4~6 minutes irrespective of ROM and it's normal.
This works because all of the ROMs above have same base (7.1.1). I've personally tested this trick and it worked for CM14.1 <-> AICP12.1 <-> PixelROM.
It should work for other ROMs too. I'll let you know when I try or you can try and share the result.
A big advantage of this trick is that all the apps will be preserved and even the customisation you had done will be restored when you revert back to previous ROM. But note that this may break some Gapps because all ROMs don't support same package.
Finally, be warned: this method works only for switching between Nougat ROMs given above. Don't try this if you're on a different ROM.
that trick will works fine now
but when CM theme engine comes up
you can't dirty flash a CM theme engine rom with OMS rom :/

1. Of course. I'll warn when that happens. But, are you suggesting that LineageOS team is working on their own gene engine? Because, that would be great considering the simplicity of CMTE.
2. I have already added it to the list.

Can someone recommend me rom + kernel combo for the fastest expirience?
I am currently using cr droid and I find it perfect for my needs, but will a kernel help with the performance and make the phone faster? If yes what kernel do you recommend?

Aicp vs pixel rom...what do you think its better?
hey what about viper rom . plss develop one for mi4i also
Anyone tried slimrom.?? Is it stable???
AospExtended ?
crDroid is good, AICP 12.1 also works great.
BTW you should add AospExtended to your list.
In my opinion it is cleaner and smoother compared to other Android N roms.

AospExtended ROM
Hello,
We do have a twrp recovery for our phones but we don't have any ROMs to install with it. Also I don't like TouchWiz that much. So, with your highly experience in porting and developing you can contribute to non existent ROM culture of C7 devices. I can be a tester if you want.
This is a request for all the devs as everyone knows there arent many ROMs for J7 Nxt.
also Oxygen Kernel for 7870 also died.
So, I am just making a humble request for porting a flagship rom.
i tried it my self, although it booted up but it was very poorly optimized.
Thanks in Advance for anyone who can make it possible.
Hello Devs,
I just want to ask is it possible to make custom kernel for this phone so the gsi custom rom, because there is only stock nougat firmware.
The phone is just great with good perfomance but the only lack is nougat.
There is twrp already made so the only problem is to make custom kernel for it.
I would very thankful for helping me with this phone.
I just see lots of "zero" answers here on Android Builders Collective so the chances to make custom kernel and GSI for Doogee mix 2 here are "ZERO".
[Research][Dev] Can Project Treble be ported?
Hi all, I am searching and wondering for any guides/ experience/ instructions about: Can Project Treble be ported to a device where the support is not introduced by the official vendor? What would be required to do so? I wonder if it would be...

hi
We are very excited to announce the beta of Paranoid Android Ruby, based on Android 11.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app, included in our builds.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.

There are likely many other issues, these are just the most prominent to me. Don't come into this with the expectation any issue you come across will be fixed in a timely manner.
Note: Custom kernels are NOT supported unless the kernel says it supports PA and GMS is included!

Notice
As we are growing on our list of supported devices in each release, we require of a stronger build environment so we can speed up the compilation process for releases. Based on the actual Quartz 4 list, we support over 30 devices, which takes between 2 and 3 days for all the builds to be completed without counting possible compilation issues or rebuild needs, based on our current specs.
We kindly ask all of you that are in position to donate anything, to help and support us so we can provide better and faster build releases, as well as increase the download speed of our servers, all looking for your enjoyment.
