[APP][NEW] SPEEDOJI : LIVE internet speedometer(NOT numbers) in the status bar. CODES - Android Apps and Games

**Main features:**
1) Live speedometer(Not numbers) in status bar so that everyone can understand what's going on.
2) Live internet speed car animation. car moves fast as you get high internet speed.
3) Internet speed test using emoji. :crying:
Just type "Speedoji" in play store. You will easily find this app.
**Purpose of making this app:**
Basically I wanted to help non technical people who does not understands internet speed in kbps and mbps, to get more idea about their internet speed.
1) So in this app I have set 60 predefined emoji for all different speeds. So if user is getting low speed, app will show sad emoji and if user is getting high speed then app will show happy and crazy emoji. So the people understand their internet speed just by looking at expression of emoji beacause I think expressions are better than numbers.
2) Same thing for live speed in status bar. I have replaced numbers with speedometer.
Thanks for reading this post.
I am also giving away **100 promo codes** to remove the ads.

[Q] Looking for an app

Hi @ all
im looking for an app that shows or log (in a text file), what my mobile- or wlan transfer do - down and upload.
i want a detail view of it, not only an arrow which points and shines in two directions.
Traffic Monitor https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.radioopt.widget
WiFi Link Speed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yuhenghe.android.apps.wifilinkspeedmonitor
Network Monitor Mini https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.kfsoft.android.TrafficIndicator
They all seem to do what you want I think?
search from play store wire shark
I would suggest you Network Monitor -it shows realtime upload and download speed both in kbs/s and kB/s. It plots a graph also. You can have it from playstore or from here

[APP][4.3+][19 Feb. - V3.0] NetLive - Monitor data speed and live app data usage

Hello all,
I spent my summer of 2013 developing my first Android app- NetLive.
It allows you to monitor your internet data transfer rate while also showing the app that is using the most data at the current moment. It runs both in the notification drawer or as a widget, so you always have access to your transfer rate information.
I stopped development for awhile, but these past few months I have been hard at it. Initially I was only going to update it to support Lollipop, but I ended up basically rewriting the whole thing to address the main gripes many users had.
Unfortunately, I had to drop support for Android versions before 4.3 because it was causing many users serious issues. Basically, I am using four API calls that may work on Android versions prior to 4.3, but it is not guaranteed. As a result, in previous versions of NetLive I was using a hack to get around this, but it was causing major battery life issues for some devices. It was a tough decision, but I think the best move was to drop support for those users that were getting a bad experience. For those curious, the API calls I am referring to are from the TrafficStats class: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/net/TrafficStats.html
Particularly these four methods: getTotalTxBytes, getTotalRxBytes, getUidTxBytes, and getUidRxBytes. These methods all give the warning: "Before JELLY_BEAN_MR2, this may return UNSUPPORTED on devices where statistics aren't available." JELLY_BEAN_MR2 is API level 18 which is Android 4.3.
All feedback you can give me is much appreciated:

Thank you very much for your input. I want to improve this as much as I can over time, so your idea has been noted.
Thank you.
downloaded and will test
damn its showing me alot of apps using data that I didnt even know was using ;
endomondo, clock widget, facebook, steam, etc etc!
suggestions :
1. Make the ICON (Notification area) a bit more polished
2. Maybe a row of icons to indicate the other apps using data, rather than 1
3. No such thing as Idle state?
4. Total : Up : Down doesnt really mean much if its a dumb user
5. Don't think you need 3 decimal points.. such as 20.xxx

jcsy, I was very surprised as well to discover apps that were running in the background.
1. I agree the notification icon can improve. My friend is the designer and I will talk to him about this.
2. For the widget, notification drawer, or both?
3. What do you mean by idle state? Do you mean that if no app is using any data, no app should be displayed? If so, I agree.
4. This is true. It is difficult to use wording that is both to the point and meaningful. There is only so much real estate. But I agree.
5. LOL, yeah, it is a bit overkill. I will look into this, at the very least making it customizable. I left that in their to make the point to users that the data monitoring is quite accurate. Also, if users set it GBps, nothing will shows if I do not have those decimal points. But I do hear what you are saying.
Thank you very much for your very specific input.
1. the notification area, which is what I added
2. notification area. I meant as in ; kbps (Steam) into kbps (Steam / Whats app / Facebook ) ?
3. If no app (whch looks like unlikely because I was staring at that god damn thing for 30 minutes) and discovered that its NEVER IDLE... unless I off the data altogether
4. How about Download/Upload? lol yes, i know its hard
5. I tried a few settings ; kbps, mbps,kBps etc and got fed up. too many decimal points, lol... its not a F1 race (with decimal timing is important ) but yea, can see how accurate the thing is
keep up the work

Thank you for the clarification. This is a 1.0 product, so look for updates very soon.
Verrrrrryyy interesting app! I, too, have seen apps using network that surprised me. My suggestion: keep track of apps' network usage and let me see a table of usage over the last 5 minutes, hour, day, etc. Maybe more granularity and the ability to see a particular app's usage over time in a paid version of the app? But even without these features, it's a cool app. TYVM
Thanks, any chance you can add 3.2+ compatibility? Honeycomb is often overlooked but shares quite a few pieces with ICS. Thanks anyway, gonna try that on my One too.

My hope is that I will be able to make this app 2.3+ compatible. I only had so much time this summer, but 2.3+ compatibility is definitely on the list of things I need to do. After all, it still makes up 33% of Android devices.
Nice app. For the dumb user like me, you should write out the unit of measurements settings. Not everyone knows the difference between MB and Mb.
I world like to "open" the app, so not using the notification or widget.
Hey man, nice app, but can you add a feature that shows the Total Data Consumption of an Application?
I play some Online Games on my phone, and I would like to see how many Accurate MBs did I spent for each game sessions I make. Why? Cause I only have a limited data plan..
And when I ran the app, it consumes on an about 19MB on RAM. Is this normal? Cause I only have 301MB RAM (150 RAM Unused), and having a 19MB running app is quite big...
Thanks mate!!
Really nice and cool app!!

Many users have requested data usage logging, I will definitely explore this feature. As for the RAM, this is not an unusual amount for the app. It is higher than it should be though. I wanted to release this before school started and I did not have as much time for optimization as I wanted. I will be optimizing this app more as soon as I can. Thank you for your input.

Hello all,
I am currently working on gingerbread support for NetLive.
Also, I have gotten some love for my app from a few tech sites. I think they do a great job of conveying what my app is about. If you are on the fence about trying my app, give them a read

I have started school and I am not able to devote as much time as I want to NetLive, but I am working as much as I can and determined to get Gingerbread support. I have made progress, but there is still more to be done.
If you have a Gingerbread device, and a little bit of time, I would greatly appreciate some volunteers to help test my app.
Let me know if you want to and I will PM you.

Many XDA users requested this, and I now use a low priority notification (like Google Now), which is available on Android 4.1 and up.
Especially since Google removed the arrows that display on the WiFi and cell indicators when data is being transferred. I think my app is now even more useful. You can now quickly tell if data is being transferred.
Feedback is greatly appreciated and I hope you enjoy your experience.

killoid, I know I said that I would be supporting GB, but given my time constraints being a student, I do not think I will be supporting the 21% of Android users still running GB.

For speed limiting you need root access and some extra feature in your OS version , could you tell what help --> device capabilites gives?
Here's the screenshot for the LG G2 (stock rooted):
1. Device Capabilities
- Your device has root access!
- Your device does not support speed setting
- Your device does not support connection acceleration
- You can create multiple data plans per device
- Your device is not speed setting capable, you probably need a custom rom
Exactly the same for Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy S4. You probably need some capabilities that aren't included in any stock rom.

Thank you for your feedback ,
Within the same rule , you can set how much data you are intending to tether, and tracking is done automatically , you can revisit the same rule and you will find that the used data is updated as long as you tether .
for the moment It's not planned that the app detect visited websites.
If tethering speed limiting is working for you , that's great news . could you tell which phone model are you using ? Thanks
Well, this app don't controls download and upload bandwidth independently for WiFi.
I need one which limits UPLOAD bandwidth only.
it's not possible to control download speed for internet connections such as wifi/mobile/bluetooth ,
Controlling download speed alongwith upload speed is only possible for tethering connections like wifi hotspot , USB tethering or bluetooth tethering.
So you are in the right case , this app can only limit upload speed for internet connections like Wifi access.
I don't understand you.
Are you saying that i can limit upload internet speed on Wi-Fi? I don't find that setting in app. Where it is?

Click on wifi access connection , then add. and fill in the rate value. click done.
after that check to enable the rule.
for your devices , you need root access in order to set the speed.
Ok but i thought that it was for download and upload speed simultaneously, not just for upload. It's not clear. It needs more clear explanation.
I'll try it anyway.
Wtv i repeat myself to be clear: I need to limit WiFi internet UPLOAD bandwidth, not DOWNLOAD bandwidth.

Yes, if you fill in rate for the wifi access connection , you are, in deed, configuring the upload speed. it's also mentionned in help, as well as on the description in top of this thread.
you can use speed test to test your speed settings. if you don't have it already , this is the link:
Speedtest.net on google play
Ok, tested.
Don't works for me. It seems that in real it uses KB (Kilo Bytes, uppercase 'B') for limits and not Kb (Kilo bits, lowercase 'b') as it has written.
I've putted the free app minimum of 256 'Kb' (Kilobits) and it don't limits my 100KB (KiloBytes) upload to 25KB, as it should as K'b's written.
For that i think is 256KB (KiloBytes) the real limit.
Any thoughts?

it's 256 kbps , lower case "b" , if you are using galaxy tab , that should work with stock or custom rom . , did you grant the app superuser access ?
forget to tell you , that in speed test app , you can choose to display rates in kbps, just go to settings.
Looks good ,, under review
Ok, it works, not at desired speed but works either.
Speed measures are a bit strange, like sinuous between 45KB and 65KB, too far from the 25KB selected, a shame.
I need more reviews , did any one test this app in a rooted HTC one ? thanks

I get this error:
BWR Invalid Value
Min upload Rate must be at least 128Kb.
The rate limit are really Kbits or KBytes? It's not clear.
Anyway it's not working on the LG G2 D802. The speedtest.net test goes fast, except that now won't go higher than 5 Mbps, while before it got to 10 or more. Is this normal? Does the app leave some misconfiguration when removing all the rules?

[Q] How to increase downloads of app on Google Play?

Hi!,
I have currently three apps on Google play. For the two of the apps, I already had a group of audience beforehand so I had acceptable number of downloads. In case of a third app, "Walkie Talkie" , which is a more general app than audience specific, I have very poor downloads. What I would like to know is if there are any tips or tricks on getting more downloads for my app.
It is a free Walkie Talkie app, that lets you do a push to talk communication with other android devices that have installed this app. Also how can I get it reviewed on xda forum? My app's url is:

Download speed is something related to Internet broadband provider.
Download speed depends on number of factor.
May i know whats your download speed ?
You should talk to your Internet service provider in first place .
For an example , sometimes, when i am at home and using wifi , i get 56 to 100 kbps or sometimes i get 3 to 4 mbps.
Whenever i get bad speed ,i just make a call to my broadband Internet service provider and let them inform about my bad downloading experience and they do fix my problem without any hesitation.
Also note that , when i am using mobile data outside of my home ...the download speed is too slow, because in our country , mobile Internet is very slow. the maximum speed we are getting here is around 59 to 80 kbps.
So try with broadband Internet and Mobile Internet both and try to find out the problem whether the slow download speed is related to your brod band connection or mobile data connection.
Best if luck

Im sorry but by downloads I mean installs on google play for my application. I think u didnt understand my question

Total Internet Speed In Notification Bar?

There are apps in Google play store that can show CURRENT internet speed in notification bar. But it stays 0kbps mostly because when you are on YouTube or other heavy usage you anyway are in full screen or don't pay attention to that 0kbps fluctuating to 10kbps or 600kbps.
I want an app that can show my actual internet speed that's coming from my Modem / router at that time.
Like I have a 40mbps plans and for some weird reasons (Thanks to Airtel) it goes as down as 5mbps also sometimes. And I need to know (see) when is it happening so I can keep a track and make a complaint.
Any such app that provides real internet speed that's entering phone and not the speed used by phone?
