I currently have Tranquility installed over FlyX
I also have the Sense X theme, but this problem precedes the theme
Basically, my music app is not themed correctly. I have compared it to my brother's stock Droid X, and his is fine.
Here is what mine looks like: i.imgur.com/iREaI.png
The white bar looks to be from the Droid X theme, while tabs at top seem to be from stock android
Installing the Froyo music mod: did not work
Renaming Music.bak, rebooting, resetting name to Music.apk, rebooting: did not work
Does anyone have their working/correctly themed Music.apk [I think it was actually called MusicGoogle.apk, but whatever] or has anyone encountered and solved this problem?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I had this problem. I simply deleted the tranquility version and put back the Blur version.

Ah! Do you happen to have the blur version around? I searched online but all I could find was the system dump, and 112mb seems like a lot if I just need the one apk
Sure.
Blur Music App
Just move it to /system/app, change the permissions to be like the other apps in the folder, delete the current music.apk (I think it's musicgoogle.apk or something like that), and restart. It'll install the app at boot.

I just did this, but no dice
I actually did it twice to be sure (since the first time didn't work). But alas, it's still the same
I'm not really sure what to do at this point

Hm. You're right, though replacing with the stock music.apk does make things better. Specifically, the text on the tabs is no longer cut off. Nonetheless, when I compared my music.apk to my wife's 2.1 stock version, it looks pretty messed up. I'm going to do some experimenting and I'll report back.
EDIT: After loading my stock 2.2 nandroid, the music player is still messed up. Unless something got screwed up which is (how I wouldn't know) affecting my nandroid, I'd guess this was something Moto was still working on. I could .sbf, root, and update to be sure, but that seems like a lot of work at the moment.

Yeah, I've thought about sbf'ing, but it's just a lot of work for this little problem.
If anyone else is reading this, can you post whether this problem is present on your X? Also, if you could please post your version and rom

SBF'd. Music app is still screwed up. Looks the same as it did when I replaced Tranquility's music.apk with the one I posted above. Looks like Moto just wasn't quite finished with it.

Is it possible to use the icons from the stock Theme Store in a 3rd party launcher such as Nova?

Did you ever figure this out... I know we can change the icons but only built in one's show up
If your rooted, you could use a file explorer app like root explorer to go into data/app and find your themes appicon folder. Inside you will see a base.apk. You can copy that base.apk onto your phone and extract it, or pull it onto your pc and extract it. Inside you will see a res/drawable-sw360dp-xxxhdpi-v13 folder. The icons are in there. Save them in a folder on your phone and manually edit your icons in Nova on your homescreens and /or folders to replace icon.
I know it sounds like a bunch of work, but it really doesn't take that long. It's about the only way you can do it.
Here's what the folders for the themes look like in data/app.....

I've been trying to make a similar change. I'm using the Sense 7 Launcher and the only icon I have left is the "Apps" icon. I'd like to change it out with this icon.
I have looked in data/app/com.htc.launcher-1 and copy that base.apk to a different location on my phone. Opened the base.apk. Found res/drawable/all_apps_button_icon.xml
My question is what is the best way to convert my image to an .xml and replace the one in the base .apk so I can paste it back into the original location?
Ugg. I sure hope that made sense?

Yes, as long as all those steps are done in that order. It's okay, but yours are way better than I've seen in the HTC Themes store
Google+ in the blink feed is the only thing that isn't working yet for our phone

Thanks. My AnaKonda theme got released in the Sense themes about 3 weeks ago. I think it's in the others section. But those themes are pretty simple and don't really get into deep theming.
Sweet. I hope it gets lots of hits. Can you see how many downloads it has?

Hi !
Marshmallow was rolling out on our Nexus 5 and brought many features. But every year, the problem remains the same : the SIM Toolkit app (Stk.apk) comes with an ugly and old design and a low-res icon.
Decompile Stk.apk, change the icon, recompile it and put it in the right folder (/system/app/Stk) is not really difficult. But "materialize" this app is not something I'm able to do.
So, can someone here materialize Stk.apk and give a better look to this app ?
Thanks !
PS : I know that it is not a really important app for many users, but I think that it could be better if we can give an updated UI to this app, there are many reports about that but Google does not seem to want change something...
It can be easily done with a custom launcher like Nova. No need to decompile

Best way is to simply dematerialize it forever. By removing it.

I prefer to stay on GNL (and XGELS is not available for MM for the moment). But I have already changed the icon myself, so the main problem is the overall design of the app :/
I know that an app can be materialized by using Layers, I will investigate with apktool et try something in that way but I'm not sure of the result ^^

You have already said that in the Cataclysm thread and it is not what I want. This issue was already reported to Google but nothing comes from them, so I just want to begin a discussion to solve this problem ourselves ^^
Decompile the apk with apktool.
Go to mipmap folders and put your custom icon (same dimensions).
Recompile and sign the new apk.

Yesterday, AmirZ posted a Rootless Pixel Launcher on Reddit that manages to bring the full Pixel Launcher experience with Google Now tab to all phones without root required.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/6gn8f9/rootless_pixel_launcher_port/
Like all other ports of the Pixel Launcher, it did not work on Knox (Secure Folder) enabled phones: App crashed, app drawer was blank. However, the source code was available as Android Studio project and I could debug the code ... and managed to add two lines that made it work on my S8.
You got no idea how happy I am right now.
I'm sure AmirZ will add the two lines to the project together with other bug fixes within the next few days. If you don't wanna wait, try my version, available at
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1wrGoe5e9-EWlF5SVUzMDFoOHM
Update: AmirZ added this fix in version 1.3. Head over to Reddit to download the apk / sources.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/6gn8f9/rootless_pixel_launcher_port/
Make sure you uninstall this and any other Pixel launchers before installing the Launcher3.
Awesome ! was looking for this for so long ! Thank you !
If you can do it, I have two requests.
1. Could you change the accents to pixel blue ? (The slider on the right when you open app drawer)
2. Can the background on the app launcher be changed to dark / black ? I think that just works and looks better on the S8
The color was already changed in the version 1.2 on Reddit (but does not include the Knox compatibility yet). I'd hope that 1.3 does include my bug fix.
Someone really need to keep this updated, implement Android O sources, etc. This will not be me though since I have no clue what powerful magic AmirZ used to get the pixel launcher / google now working in non root. I'm terribly unqualified to do any real development on that ^^

The latest git versions by AmirZ do work with Knox. You need to make sure to remove all previously installed Pixel launchers (select another launcher as standard before uninstalling all of them) and then install
https://github.com/amirzaidi/Launcher3/releases/tag/Pixel-v1.4
If it force closes in launch, just delete all cache and app data for Launcher3 from the settings. It should work. My Knox fix was implemented in version 1.3.

Awesome appreciate the update! I don't think i tried the latest thanks
thanks for that, it runs very smooth and no issues. the only thing I'd like is to be able to make the icons a bit smaller. Is that possible at all?
Dude this is awesome thank you!
There is a bug (or feature) that prevents proper AMOLED power savings on the top of the launcher. You will notice that while applying any background which is black up top (which AMOLED should turn off) there is still active pixels (in a dark room you can see this as a thin bar on top of the screen - kind of like light bleed). I have notified AmirZ of the issue and hopefully he can fix it.
if this launcher can accept icon packs then it would be perfect, so I can theme over the stock touchwiz icons!

thanks , I just found the settings for it. can't believe i did not notice it before!
it is laggy for me. every launcher lags when swiping to the google page. this, lawnchair, nova... is there any solution? compared to other old phones i had, this is very disapointing.
I had Swift Backup backup my icons from my old OP phone. I restored them and I'm also using Nove Launcher Prime. It's not seeing the icons. Is there a way to use them?
Why restore them? Why not reinstall the pack the way you did initially?
I don't know how you would "backup icons". You could backup the pack and restore it, and also choose the pack from Nova as you did before.
They're not available on Google Play and I'm essentially trying to move them from my OP9.
Nova won't let me search for them (Android sees them as installed but also won't let me select them). To get more themes, it forces me to the store.
OOS saw them and allowed me to change them easily. Seems like changing icons is something not easily done in general on a Pixel
Again not sure what you mean. "Android sees them"? Where? Didn't you use Swift to backup the icon pack apk?

Yes, used Swift. If I do a search in the system settings, I see the different packs as installed apps. However, I can't open them in a launcher, and they're not selectable in Nova's icon settings. I see either "system" theme or "get more" and it directs me to google play.

Ohhh wait, you mean the official OnePlus icons? Yeah, those won't work I think, these are baked into the system and won't work on other ROMs. But I think there are a few good looking OnePlus-like packs on Play.

I was hoping they weren't tied to the OP launcher, but I'm thinking you're right. Been hesitant to buy them with so much crap on GP anymore.
Thanks!
Eh there's some pretty nice icon packs to be honest, even better than OP originals covering more app icons
