Mismatched theme in Music.apk - Droid X Themes and Apps

I currently have Tranquility installed over FlyX
I also have the Sense X theme, but this problem precedes the theme
Basically, my music app is not themed correctly. I have compared it to my brother's stock Droid X, and his is fine.
Here is what mine looks like: i.imgur.com/iREaI.png
The white bar looks to be from the Droid X theme, while tabs at top seem to be from stock android
Installing the Froyo music mod: did not work
Renaming Music.bak, rebooting, resetting name to Music.apk, rebooting: did not work
Does anyone have their working/correctly themed Music.apk [I think it was actually called MusicGoogle.apk, but whatever] or has anyone encountered and solved this problem?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I had this problem. I simply deleted the tranquility version and put back the Blur version.

Ah! Do you happen to have the blur version around? I searched online but all I could find was the system dump, and 112mb seems like a lot if I just need the one apk

Sure.
Blur Music App
Just move it to /system/app, change the permissions to be like the other apps in the folder, delete the current music.apk (I think it's musicgoogle.apk or something like that), and restart. It'll install the app at boot.

I actually did it twice to be sure (since the first time didn't work). But alas, it's still the same
I'm not really sure what to do at this point

Hm. You're right, though replacing with the stock music.apk does make things better. Specifically, the text on the tabs is no longer cut off. Nonetheless, when I compared my music.apk to my wife's 2.1 stock version, it looks pretty messed up. I'm going to do some experimenting and I'll report back.
EDIT: After loading my stock 2.2 nandroid, the music player is still messed up. Unless something got screwed up which is (how I wouldn't know) affecting my nandroid, I'd guess this was something Moto was still working on. I could .sbf, root, and update to be sure, but that seems like a lot of work at the moment.

If anyone else is reading this, can you post whether this problem is present on your X? Also, if you could please post your version and rom

SBF'd. Music app is still screwed up. Looks the same as it did when I replaced Tranquility's music.apk with the one I posted above. Looks like Moto just wasn't quite finished with it.

REQUEST: HTC Hero Flip clock w/ animation

Ive seen the 1st Hero with real animation on the Home flip clock, I know devs took it of as a memory hogger, Is it me? but I dont recall seeing the home flip clock's animation even when I had all stock apps. I;d like to get it from GSM Hero and use it over here.. if any one can get it please post apk files.
Thanks in advance.
Clock animation and i think certain weather animation too was taken out for us to reduce lag. I dont care though, i'd like to have the animated flip too.
I just want the weather animation lol, that crap is cool on a winmo phone.
i want the weather animations and the clock!!!!

I'm pretty sure nobody has this widget anymore. Sense no longer includes this. I'm pretty sure the only way to get it is to find an early unreleased build of Sense. Haykuro's old builds would work but I was never able to get one from him.

Same here. When installing, it says...
"Clock widget could not be installed on this phone."
i tried installing through package installer, adb push, and i also tried to figure out the differences between the apk's of the one that kendong included in the linked post and the one on our heros. i tried to put some files that looked like handled the flip animation work, but its not working. D:
Got the file.. here it is if anyone else wants to look into it.

It was released - the original pre.2.73 (1.7x) had the flip clock. 2.73 was a "performance" update that removed the flip. Personally, I'm of the opinion that it wasn't the flip per se that caused the lag, just that it was seen to be.
You can find the ROMs here.
Regards,
Dave
i'm thinking that this isn't possible. not sure though.
after messing around with 4 different htcclockwidget.apk s, i've noticed that there's not actually a difference between the one that doesn't flip and the one that does. i think the differences lie in the AndroidManifest.xml, which is doing some sort of weird thing because when i place the old AndroidManifest.xml in the widget we have, Clock doesn't show up under the HTC widget menu to add. i have the feeling its got to do with the version numbers that are stored in the AndroidManifest.xml, but i can't seem to open the file because there's some sort of a syntax error. if i could access it the chances of making it work are probably 1% higher anyways, cause i don't know xml
Justinisyoung, tell me what I would need to change in it. My desktop runs Linux, so I may be able to open it somehow

i'm really not quite sure, which is why i'd like to take a look. but i have an idea that it's the operating system versions, for example, the old clock widget was probably made for 1.73 or whatever the first version was. we have to probably change it so it works with our version... cause apps have to be version consistent.

yeah so do i tbh, even the winmo sense port has the animation.
Android XML files are NOT standard XML files, they're compiled binary. I'll refer to Stericson's post here on why you can't simply edit these.
i don't see how it could be a resource hog when there are other animated clock widgets?
Hopefully they'll have it figured out and fixed in the 2.1 update.

Looks like it does. I still have mine show up, but they force close when trying to select them. I don't care though. I love this one.
Here you go. Screenie!
If anybody wants to take this and load it into the stock live wallpapers, maybe even add the Samsung Galaxy live wallpapers in it, that would be awesome. That is beyond my capabilities right now though.

Did you get any error message in ADB or did it tell you how much data was pushed? Also, I'm assuming you went ahead and set the wallpaper manually.

This is probably a newbie question, but if I load up this APK, how do I get back my original live wallpapers? I use the HTC Droid Incredible, btw.

Try this
Code:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk LiveWallpapers.apk
That will pull your old Live wallpapers. Put those where you can find them later and put the new LiveWallpaper.apk in your <sdk>/tools folder (because you can't have two files with the same name in the same directory).
Then proceed as directed in the first post.

No settings. Just the option to save it. You can probably change the back ground though by pulling apart the .apk
** EDIT **
Okay, so I tried opening the apk and replacing the droid_bg.jpg only to find out whatever I replace it with comes up as a blank white screen (I even sized it to the odd 1025x1025 size the old one was even though both of them had large white areas in the .jpg). If anybody else wants to give it a try, I am attaching the wallpaper I was trying to use. It is the default regular wallpaper from the Droid X

I'm a total newbie, so I haven't rooted yet. I don't think I'm considered a "power user" yet, so I didn't want to accidentally brick my phone. I came over from blackberry, so I'm still getting used to this new system. Soon enough I'll be getting my hands dirty with this rooting business.
Anyways, I don't have the ability to pull the original Live Wallpapers... would it be possible for someone else to pull theirs, and post the APK online for me? I've been using "AppInstaller" to implement all of the APK's I've downloaded. Just been playing around with the Galaxy S LWPs. If it's a hassle, don't worry about it. I'll figure root soon enough.
Thanks for the quick reply, by the way!!
Can someone upload a version thats not .apk so i can download it on my phone, im at work
standalone version
Credit to ccunningham83 for posting this.
Standalone version
This is what I did:
decompiled,
changed the package and app name,
removed LWPs that install by default,
rebuilt,
signed
updates:
1)removed unnecessary images too, file size now 1.1MB
2)added Blue, Cyan, Green and Golden eyes!
3)added a blue eye version with alternate background.
4) 7/15/10, added grey version by request.
5) 8/30/10, by request added a red version with black background. No smoke.
6) 9/15/2010, by request added a new red version with the smoked grey background
7) 1/20/2011, green eye with colored smoke
Screenshots:
To uninstall:
Code:
adb uninstall com.android.wallpaperx
APK attached, install as normal.
MediaFire Links:
[blue] [cyan] [gold] [green] [red] [blue-alternate bg]
[grey]
[red-greybg]
[green-colored smoke bg]
Here is a video by myghtymouse19 showing all versions on an EVO:
I had issues trying to remount so copied the file to the root of SD then used Root Explorer to copy and paste as R/W into /system/apps/ then click on the the apk and install it... then youll have it. Also even though you overwrite the default wallpapers, this file is the default wallpapers file with one file added the droid x eye lwp, thats all... so your not loosing anything.
Thanks Britoso! Works great!
Brilliant work guys, especially britoso.
Just adding that this also works fine on the Desire. I just used Astro to install britoso's .apk and it worked fine. It even kept all my current Live Wallpapers and just added DROID X to them.
Hope no-one minds but I made a post in the Desire forum pointing to this thread to share the love!
Thanks again,
Oz
Well it got 4 views, but now link to the attachment is broken....any particular reason, Britoso?
EDIT: Nevermind, back up. Thanks
many thanks to you, britoso! the file worked beautifully
I was able to push the apk just fine to my N1. I'm now running Samsung Galaxy S, N1, and this Droid LWP.

[THEME][UPDATE] SexyBlack 0.6 for CyanogenMod 6.0.0

So, I've created my first theme.
EDIT: Version 0.6 is out -- check it out.
It is a Desire like theme, with a black bar and colorful icons.
This theme is still a work in progress, so watch for updates. I will try to keep it updated as CM6 updates are released, so watch for that as well.
This theme works wonderfully on CyanogenMod 6.0.0 STABLE on the Nexus One, should work on other HDPI devices (EVO4G, DROID Incredible, etc). It may work on 854x480 devices (DROID), but I'm not sure. Give it a shot, if it works for you, let me know!
A special thanks goes out to Formel-LMS and MicroMod777, for their themes are which this theme is based off of.
Download and more screenshots on my blog: http://www.unforgivendevelopment.com/
OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anything that happens to you, your phone, your computer, your mom, your girlfriend, etc. I will try my best to help you out, please bear with me.
PROTIP: If you have issues applying this morph, first, try again, second, adjust your speed in the metamorph settings and try again. If you would like to revert, reflash your base ROM (and GAPPS).
morphed this, looks awesome
did get about half my apps showing up duplicated in the launcher though.
Well, that is quite odd.
I had no issues here, and quite honestly, I have no idea what would cause the icons to duplicate. Hmm...
Thanks for the props though!
ill look into it, its prob just my phone
everything else is fine, its nice to have a blackbar on froyo with transparency to it instead of a solid pulldown color
good stuff man only this i can tell that could be updated is when i pull down the status bar "t-mobile" is black/dark grey is that by design?
Yeah, I noticed that as well. I still gotta change that to white.
I'm quite tired though, and I was getting ready to head to bed.
I will put out 0.3 tomorrow, fixing that.
Thanks again guys, enjoy!
Sorry it took me a couple days to get the update out there, I spent the weekend at the Great Blue Heron Music Festival. While it was a blast, it did delay me getting the update out.
The only thing that has been changed from 0.2 is the network name color from black to white.
However, I would like some feedback. Do you think it would be cool if I made the text RED while roaming?
What else would everyone like to see out of this?
I'm also thinking about changing the LED colors on a per-app basis...
GMail = Red
Google Voice = Purple
Google Talk = Yellow
etc...
What do you think about that?
Come on guys, help me out!
Morphed this with metamorph and now my settings and menu>widgets crashes with the note "android.processes.acore has crashed" Any help?
Grab me a logcat? Also, perhaps try to re-morph it at a different speed? I have mine at 4200 and have had no issues. And where exactly is this occuring again? Can you clarify it a little better so I can attempt to re-create it on my end?
I'm sorry that you're having issues and I would like to help, but you gotta help me help you =D
I got rid of my issues with "android.processes.acore has crashed" by dissabling screen cache in adw launcher settings...
Basically I'm running 7 screens with scrolling widgets for messages and calendar (pure).
Flicking a few times back and forth between screens and scrolling the widgets would cause the error time and time again until I disabled that.
Now the scrolling is not as nice as before, but the prosess doesn't crash.
The morph works without issues on my n1.
-e
----edit--
Request for battery percent if it can be done
Some roms have started including it, and I'm sure cyan will on next alpha, but until then it would be nice to morph it in..
Apart from that, all good. I like it simple. Perhaps add some colored settings (like my screenshot) that would match the settings app..
Will this work with CM6.0a1 and launcher pro replacing ADW as default launcher in system/app?
I'm also looking for some info on using themes in cyanogen with launcher pro. Is there anything out there?

I don't see why it wouldn't work with Launcher Pro, at least in its current state, I don't touch the Launcher.apk at all.
May I ask why you prefer Launcher Pro to ADW? I'd just like some insight, I've never really looked into LP.

LP is MUCH Faster than ADW!!! That is one reason. I know it is close sourced but it is definitely faster at the moment. We will see what happens with updates.

Will this work with the Nightly Builds for CM6?
I think it will break battery percent on the nightly builds...
To get battery percent I believe the changes are in services.jar, and since this metamorph modifies that to get white text then it might break. (I'm not sure though)
I will try later today though, so we'll see
Perhaps the op would be so nice as to create a temp morph for the nightly build *wink* *wink*
----edit----
Yea, nightly build is on, and its sweet
The morph will break a lot of stuff, but I reckon if we remove the xml/jar files from the metamorph, and just apply framework.png's it will work fine.
CM6 nightly will let you change all text colors to whichever you want through settings, so the morph need only to contain .png's...
---edit2---
Removed the "services" folder, and the "layout" folder (in framework res), edited the sexyblack .xml to remove the entry for the files I deleted, and now this work perfect on cm6 nightly!!
Hey all, I played around a little today with building CM from source. Pretty sweet stuff.
I will put out a version tomorrow that will work with the nightlies.
And yes, it will be a hell of a lot easier because the color control is incorporated in CMParts.
I'm off to bed, long night.
Thanks again guys!

I was currently in the process of installing Epic Unleashed 1.1! when I just saw this, lol.
I'm having the "stuck on the M screen" after I installed Epic Unleashed 1.1 from Bootstrapper and restarting the phone. I've pulled the battery and everything loads up fine but didn't see Epic under the Android Version.. So I tried to reboot the phone using bootstrapper recovery.. It then becomes stuck on the M screen again.
Additionally.. I tried using Rom Manager to get into Recovery mode but I just get a screen of the Android with a !.. What are my options at this point?

I like it. Blur removal is similar to Tranquility Rom, which I like.
A few minor issues though:
1. As stated earlier, notification text is still black: date, sdcard, and any text displayed similar as these items.
2. Progress bars have vertical white lines breaking it up. Does not look nice.
3. Swype is busted after flash, but if you install the one from the Droid 2 dump you can get past this issue.
4. It does not appear that you include all of the FM radio libraries and servies. You include the APK and one library, but you are missing the other two libraries in system/lib and you are missing the FM radio service in system/bin. This will cause the FM radio to not work.
Again these issues are minor, and overall I like Epic 2.0. Look forward to the polishing. I think it is almost there. Thanks for your efforts.

The progress bars are blur it self, not my doing. This does not completely remove blur as I stated before. Swype was removed from the system/app folder because I got a email requesting its removal threatening legal action. I will look at the FM radio. Sorry about that, just found the apk and threw it in there. Didn't know I needed extra things Thanks for telling me!

Cool, Swype is no big deal or the radio thing.
I am curious about the progress bar. I am not referring to the moving angled white bars, but I am referring to new straight bars that are breaking up the progress bar into segments. I know the scrolling angled white bars are normal, but not the white lines running completely vertical that don't move(I think I said horiz early but I meant vertical).

I know what you mean about the progress bar. I am not sure exactly what it is, but it isn't my doing. It is stupid Blur. You can go try another blur removed rom and it would still happen, sorry :/ I am gonna look at it tho

I didn't see it on Tranquility. Are you sure it doesn't have to do with the framework edits to get the black bar? I don't mean directly, but maybe indirectly. It is a curious artifact either way. Kind of jarring in the UI.
Anyways, thanks again for the good work.
Sorry to bring up another issue; I have an eye for out of place things.
I noticed when you are pulling down the notification window, you see a transparent box extending past the notification drawer. It is faint, but once you see it, you can't unsee it. You can see it in mid pull, it is a bit odd.
Try it when you have an application with a white screen like the browser.

That isn't just my rom in general. It is blur once again actually. When I had my D1 and I used the Droid X theme I saw that too.

I see. Your probably right. It is one of those things you don't notice until you notice it. I have noticed a number of quirks with the blur theme on a stock phone, so you are probably right. It's like they don't have quality control.
update: I just did a nandroid restore of my Tranquility Rom and noticed that these blur quirks do not exist on my phone, neither the black notification box or the progress bar issue. It appears these issues can be fixed. Maybe you should contact the Tranquility guy.
Yours and his are very similar, but the black bar got me and I flashed yours, these quirks though really distract for me. I hope you can figure theme out. Who knows, maybe when I get some free time, I will look into myself.

[REQ] Inverted Moto Gallery

Anyone bothered or attempted this at all? Any ideas? Everything else on my phone is black, but then when I open my Gallery, BAM! White background! I've been using QuickPic for a while, so I didn't really care, but I'd really like to start using the stock Gallery. Anyone care to tackle inverting this?

How did you manage to have everything else inverted? Including dialer?

Amalgamation lol. And yes that includes Dialer and Contacts, although I am using Google Dialer, which is EXACTLY like ours except it has the Google caller ID/search. I found inverted Google Dialer and Contacts in the Nexus 5 Themes & Apps forum, and one of the guys in there was kind enough to fine tune it for my Moto X. I also managed to find the old BAKED Mms.apk with full theming capabilities. Then I used a combination of GravityBox KK and XBlast in Xposed to black out the framework and SystemUI. I get most of my other inverted apps from Kryten2k35 (creator of UltimaROM) and Team Black Out. It took some work, and definitely some cherry-picking, but the result is pretty sweet. Stock rooted Moto X completely blacked out... except for my stock Moto Gallery app, of course lol.

Ahh gotcha. Well if you unlocked and rooted you could request Nitro to add to to his dark theme, but you need to be running his eclipse ROM first

Thanks, but I'm on Sprint, so none of the ROMs currently available will work 100% for me. That's why I've just been sticking to stock rooted.

Here's what I have. Be aware that I saw some people saying that one or the other wasn't working for them. Idk why. They're both working perfectly for me. Rename Dialer.apk, Dialer.odex, Contacts.apk, and Contacts.odex to .bak. Then move the ones I've uploaded to /system, fix permissions to rw-r--r--, then move to /system/priv-app. Should be all good.

I've tried to get contacts to work so many time and it never does. I've given up. Dialer works great though. A black he gallery would be nice to. Inverted nearly everything one my moto.

The contacts.apk is fickle. I KNOW that one works, because I've managed to install it twice. But I did also have some trouble in between those two installations where it wouldn't show up. Idk what the actual issue is. I just kept at it until it worked. My best advice is to keep trying it with various combinations of rebooting, wiping cache and/or dalvik. All it takes is getting lucky one time and once the install actually sticks, you're laughing.

I've got QuickPic, which is, IMHO, the best 3rd party Gallery app there is. I just wanted to go stock and eliminate the need for a 3rd party gallery. Thanks though.
