* Please Read - Beginners or Developers - XDA IRC CHANNEL * - Xiaomi Mi A1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello To All!
Maybe some, or many of you are not aware that XDA has an IRC channel on Freenode!
I see there is quite a bit of action going on, now that Xiaomi has released it's kernel source, now ROM development seems to be really moving for this phone.
I really want to get this post stirred up around here, that people will join the XDA IRC channel, so there can be some serious live action collaboration going on!
Geeks should be using IRC, and I can't believe there is no action on that channel!
Go into any Linux Unix channel on Freenode and you see peeps all the time chatting, helping and learning, IRC is the Unix/Linux way!
Even if you're not so Geek or a Developer, but you just want help, or to learn, then get on the channel too, and help bring it to life. In time as it grows, you will find the help you are looking for!
IRC is so helpful, I literally learned a lot of my Unix/Linux skills on Freenode through many of the channels there.
Also, just in case you didn't know, Freenode is the largest Open-Source IRC server in the world! So whatever world of Open-Source you are into, there's a lot going on there! Maybe you'd love to learn Linux/Unix too, well Freenode is the perfect place for that also!
Please spread the word around, and let's make it grow together.

P.S. Even if you only read the post, please just type/give it a Bump so the post will remain on the top, for the benefit of others to read.

Developers Unite! New Developer Pages on TheUnlockr.com (Beta-Testing)!

Hey guys,
Starting a new section on the site and want to get XDA User's and Dev's opinions on the matter.
Head over to the site for info:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/02/18/de...veloper-pages-on-theunlockr-com-beta-testing/
Think it could be a great resource for rom junkies and devs alike (and a nice compliment to XDA for that matter).
Thanks for your time guys!
I really am not trying to hijack your thread but this sounds like the OpenRelease project we are already working on and is almost done...
This is gonna be yet another source for people to check...
If we fragment any more, doing the OpenRelease project will be pointless.
No it is different. Our site is not for a repository of ROMs (although the site has that already), it is for Developers to show off all of their work in one location. It's more of a mini blog for developers, they can still use our mini blog for releasing whatever they want and easily head to your page to post the ROM in your repository without much effort, we CAN coexist lol
Actually I just thought, our two projects might be able to help each other and benefit the community further...
PM'd you, Simon.

Captivate IRC Chatroom

I have been looking through the forum and I haven't been able to find any IRC chat for the the Samsung Captivate. Individual ROMs have them, but as of now there is no way to just have general discussions. Until now. I present you the unofficial IRC chat room for the Samsung Captivate:
Room: #xdacaptivate
Server: irc.freenode.net
To connect click here:
http://webchat.freenode.net/
and for nickname type your XDA username and for channel type xdacaptivate.
Good idea. This should be stickied.
Samsung Captivate - Assonance 5.2
This was tried a while back #sgsusers or something. Never really caught on. People just tend to spend time in the channel that discusses their prefered rom. A place to just ask general questions would be cool though.
this is because #xda-devs is much better. how do people not know about this room lfmao

Setting up an IRC?

Edit : Please close this thread. Thanks
You want just an xda help irc, or a captivate help irc? I have a feeling a channel that general would be chaos, too many people at once to keep track. Just my opinion.
I'm in the mosaic irc a lot you can drop by there with questions, if I'm there I'll answer.
Expecting knowledgeable devs/users to sit around on irc waiting for newbies to drop by and ask questions that were already answered on here is quiet the feat you're proposing. The search button/faqs/q+a section is all you really need.
I guess, but if theyre on there computer... having an IRC application open shouldnt be too much trouble. Would the MOSAIC IRC help me with other probelms though? :S for example.. flashing back to stock etc.. and other ridiculous ideas.
A lot of ROMs, kernels, etc already have their own IRC channels. Most are on Freenode. If you need help on a specific ROM or kernel, check and see if they already have something set up in their thread.
Eh, alright thanks I guess I should ask for this thread to be closed then
