How to import apps from pure Android (Galaxy S5) to Xiaomi Mi Note 3 - Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello there!
I have bought my first "chinese phone", Xiaomi Mi Note 3. So far, I was used to the fact that when I am starting my new phone for the first time, I log in to my Google Account and after that, among others, I have the option to "restore" the apps I had on my previous device. Nothing like this happened on my Note 3. It runs MIUI, so I think this is the reason it works somewhat different. Did I miss something? What is the preferred method I should use to import the apps I had on my previous device (which are at preset stored on my Google Drive I guess). If I use a tool like Mi Mover (not sure if this is the preferred way), will my apps still be synced to Drive, so that if in the future I buy Galaxy S11 Flex, I will be able to restore them from it?
Thanks in advance!
Mike

Mi Mover also moves app data, if the app is supported, so yes that's the preferred way even if it's originally intended for Mi phone migration, which should now work on any Android 4.2 and up phone.

[Xiaomi Mi A1] Is anyone else surprised by this being called an Android One?

Hello,
Xiaomi Mi A1 came and my brother got one today. I looked into it and was surprised to find that it's an Android One device but missing the signature Google Apps/Features --
Google Phone (Dialer)
This device has com.android.dialer which is AOSP dialer, but even Micromax Canvas A1, the original Android One device has Google Dialer app and gets updated to date.
Google Contacts
Even when Google Contacts app is available to all devices from Play Store since recently, this device comes with AOSP Contacts App, out of my understanding.
Google Camera
This, maybe due to special Camera and lenses feature so justified, but Android One devices were considered Nexus/Pixel cheaper brothers and a variant of Google Camera was expected.
I have disabled AOSP Contacts and have installed Google Contacts, but the same is not possible for Google Phone app and hence it bothers me always. Why an Android One device wouldn't come with Google Phone/Dialer?
Also, there is a "Feedback" app from Xiaomi which can't be disabled. What purpose would it solve?
Why not Stock as it was in past Android One programs? This makes Android One more in control of Xiaomi's than in Google's. I didn't see any review or articles indicating towards this and feel a little cheated.
Thanks.
Xiaomi is a Big company than those from Android One 1st and 2nd gen have.
Xiaomi and Google signed a partnership for Android One program, it doesn't owned wholely by Google.

I too wondered the same, but, their is workaround.

You can download the Google dialer APK, make it the "Phone app" provide all the permissions. Works great for me. You can choose the disable the AOSP dialer if you wish.

Nah, Google thought their first gen android one program wasn't successful. So, they started giving more control over hardware and also software to the OEMs this time. As a result, you can see android one OTA updates are handled by OEMs only, not the Google. That's all I know about.

Hi Sachin, call it the impression of earlier Android One program or having used Nexus all my time, I feel the Android One's android had to be Google's Android and not the AOSP or Partner Controlled ones. Even their advertising materials say that --
Code:
We’ve partnered with Google to bring you a pure Android phone that stays secure and fresh over time, with your favorite Google services front and center.
I am missing the so called Google Services.

I have them already, but it's not that integrated, especially considering Dual SIM scenario. Also, it misses the Google Dialers features of SPAM blocking and Nearby searches.

True. I would suggest making a post on Xiaomi forums for our Mi A1's and we'll possibly receive a positive response. (Google dialer integrated into Oreo, perhaps)
I'll doing that by EOD.

We all know that, and none of the Android One makers or even Nexus makers were owned by Google. But, I am asking something different if you see.
yes, totally disappointed by what Xiaomi are doing with this device. If they do not fix the problems soon, It will become problem for the company to grow....
good feeling to use xiaomi mi A1

Mi A1 has design elements in common with other Xiaomi devices, but feels like an elegantly crafted upgrade.
The 5.5-inch LTPS IPS display on the Mi A1 makes for a good design choice with 2.5D curved glass at the top. The Full HD display delivers crisp visuals and excellent contrast, with a pixel density of 403 ppi.
The Mi A1 packs in 64 GB of internal storage which should be enough for most people, though there is a microSD card slot so you can expand its capacity up to another 128 GB.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 brings a dual camera setup to a mid-range smartphone. It’s not the first brand to do this, but it is the first one to offer 2x lossless optical zoom in its segment.
The camera setup includes a 12 MP wide-angle 26mm f/2.2 lens and another 12 MP 50mm f/2.6 telephoto lens, with a dual-tone LED flash.

Google mixed Devices after Migration

Hello!
I think my problem is not phone related, so this might me the best place, I hope.
I'm happy to own a new Poco F1 and instantly flashed a custom rom (CAF). Then I migrated some app-data from my old Nexus 5 with Titanium Backup. The Nexus was completely wiped and now is on LOS.
I logged into my Google Account with both devices.
Now I'm facing the following issue: In my Google account under "Security - My Devices" the two devices are mixed up. With the name "Poco F1" I see a model "LG Nexus 5" (screenshot 1). If I remove it, both phones are disconnected from my Google account. If I login with the Poco F1 again, all seems OK, as long as I also log in with the Nexus. Then everything is messed up again. I never see two individual devices.
In Google Play Store the two devices show up correct (screenshot 2).
Any Idea, what might have caused Google to be not able to tell apart the two devices and how to fix it?
I'm looking forward to your replies.
Not a single clue?

Help migrate app and app data without root (from Samsung S7 to Xiaomi Mi Note 10)

I have a Galaxy S7 (old phone) and a Xiaomi Mi Note 10 (new phone). Neither of them are rooted. Is there a way I can migrate my apps *and their data/settings* from the S7 to the Mi Note 10 without having to root them?
Things I already tried:
Helium (I purchased Premium). Didn't work. I could backup some (not all) apps from the S7, but it couldn't see the Mi Note 10 at all.
Mi Mover. The official Xiaomi migration app. This exists in the Mi Note 10 (part of official phone settings now). However, Mi Mover no longer exists on Google Play but I found a recent APK on other websites and installed it on the S7. It seemed like it was working, but it kept disconnecting on the S7 and never finishing transferring a single app.
Smart Switch. The official Samsung migration app. Only supports Samsung phones as destination phone ...
All sort of other apps that claimed they can transfer apps, but in fact most were only transferring the apk.
Would be really grateful for a solution that doesn't involve root.
I had migrated from samsung s8+ to xiaomi note 10 with samsungs smart switch it works.
Not rooted one of them.
Yust on note 10 install smart switch from playstore and go

As I said, smart switch only sends to samsung phones. When installed on the Xiaomi it only gives me the option to be sender, not receiver. I'm not sure you are talking about the same software.

Seriously, you should try it yourself on your Xiaomi rather than claiming it works . It doesn't. You can't receive on Xiaomi. No point insisting.
I have used mi share a Xiaomi app for the data transfer. On the mi note 10 Is preinstalled and for the s7 you can find it on the PlayStore (the title of the app is in chinese, the app itself Is total translated in english)
This the link for the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.miui.huanji

so twice you tell me to be a liar.
I did it as said and worked perfectly.
Anyway figure it out I'll stop with help you don't read what I write ..
Migration from samsung s8 + to xiaomi note 10 via samsung smart switch has indeed succeeded in this, as already reported.
Success even further with your search for a "according to you" reliable person.

I avoided that because it was chinese and couldn't understand anything. I don't have it on my Mi Note 10 though (i'm running MIUI 11). It looked as if it's an app for sharing files. Are you saying it can transfer apps AND the app data&settings? That's what I need.

The app mi mover and It can share the settings and the data from the old smartphone ti the new One. On the mi note 10 the app Is preinstalled in settings/system info/mi mover or simply search mi mover in the search bar of the settings .
Mi mover can move the following item from the old to the new phone:
Contacts
Message
Chat Log
PHotos
Music
Videos
EMAIL
Bookmarks
Settings (*support Partial of the Settings)
Third-party APP
Home APPs layout
Mi Mover and ShareMe are different apps. I already mentioned that I tried Mi Mover (see my 1st post).
Mi Mover worked perfectly to transfer everything (messages etc..) from an S10+ to Mi Note 10.
I tried to transfer using google backup under miui 12, but seems google backup can't find backup on my old phone.

Suggestion for MI 10 Pro Chinese to Global or just Gapps?

Hey guys, just got the MI 10 Pro Chinese version. Wondering if there's a seamless way to change it to the Global version OR should I just consider finding and adding the latest Gapps to it?
Anyone using just Google Apps and if the experience is the same as any global rom?
Also if someone can point me to the correct global rom thread and where to find the latest Gapps?
Thanks!
I am also wondering something along the lines of this. I have a Mi 10 ultra on Chinese Official Rom and have had some issues relating to your question. I basically debloated the device to the max and added all the Google apps and play store. It works quite well after some tweaking to get it the way I liked it. I do have some issues. 1. Basically cant get the assistant app to work. The main reason is the permissions keep getting reset requiring my reapproval each time its activated which kind of defeats the purpose. same thing happens to the phone and message google apps where the phone defaulted to the Mi stock dialer and message. not sure why. 2. I get random updates settings changed. Like one time I had a new AOD image. No idea why. 4. Some minor random updates like 1 every 3 days. These are the biggest issues ive noticed so far. Overall this device is awesome so I'd personally prefer it to be Gapps optimized but I don't want to fool with having a rooted device and the hoops involved in use since I use my phone for work and play.

Question Appsync/autodownload like on ios

hi! I wonder if it is any way to sync 2 android phones to have the same apps, when I download an app to main phone, the second one will have it already when I start using it, like iOS auto download apps. First phone is my s22 ultra, second is Xiaomi note 11, thanks!
Hi, if you have the same google account logged in, in both phones, then you can select in which device to install an app, from any one is them. But this is not auto download. I don't think this exist..
