Camera doesn't focus anymore - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

So my Camera doesn't focus anymore... Objects in distance of up to 10cm stay clear and even focus if I move the phone. But if I move it away more than 10cm they stay blurry.
Of course I could send in the phone but first I'm in Germany so it would take a long time, second I got a unlocked bootloader so a bit stressful to lock it again... and third (biggest problem) the phone got a broken back 4 months ago and I think Huawei will say the camera broke because of the fall and won't believe me it worked fine until now or they will say that the phone fell down yesterday.
Any other suggestions what to try? I think I will try to replace the camera by myself...

The cameras are clear. In fact my phone is focusing but the image is very blurry .The image is not clear at all,is very noisy.

Put your phone vertically on a flat surface (like standing). Then let it free fall screen facing down. You should good to go after that.
I am trying to illustrate as below

I have this issue as well. I solved it using above way.

Had to log in just to say THANK YOU! For weeks, since having to get my broken screen replaced, the camera's been blurry and I was this close to going back to the store to complain. Thank God I got to skip that! For anyone thinking this is a joke, it's not! I put my phone on the floor and let it fall face down. Camera's like new again

100% legit works
I cannot explain to you how relieved I am after doing this, it actually works lol, was sceptical because why would it work if you drop your phone. some reverse logics right there. thabkyou so much nd thanks to the reploes too. also made an account just to reply. this works guys, i have an honor 8 too! much love
edit: to the vertical drop method, forgot to quote

i thought you guys were pulling my leg, tried it and problem solved...WOW thanks guys

I just hold it with my left and smack it a bit with my right hand...

Holy cow guys, it worked for me too... How on earth is this could be possible?

I logged in just to say THANK YOU, it works like a charm.

I think it's simple how it works... The system that focus could be blocked (I don't know why, it could be dust or any other thing) and let telephone fall could unlock it

Maybe I made a wrong question. When you hold the phone on hand and you move it from left to right, objects on screen remain alligned with the floor. It's quite annoyng and it doesn't work as well....

The home screen tilts if I move the phone. I hate thing thing!
any chance of a vid or photo of this? I've never known anything like that before.
from what i gather, he's saying that the software image is staying aligned with the horizon when he moves his phone. so if he tilts his phone at 45 degrees, sense will still be in line with the horizon, where as you or I would need to tilt our heads at 45 degrees to see it aligned properly....get it?

two days ago i tested on the dhd a coocked rom, Rmix i think, that came with sense 3.0. It has the same thing, that I assume is a standard feature of the sense. I cannot believe you don't see it. Try to move the phone from left to right in the home screen: I can see the edge of the clock, in the meteo widget you see the moon or the sun in 3d. At a first sight it's amazing, but now, when i switch on the phone the screen is not aligned.....

Wuddup Freshly? I haven't seen you since back in the day on the Cyanogenmod MT3G forums.
Anyways, I think the problem he is referring to is when you go to hang up, the screen just stays black (g-sensor not working correctly) instead of the screen lighting up to hit end. I've seen the screen light up but not respond when taking the phone away from your ear also. Let's hope these bugs get taken care of very soon with an OTA, along with many others.
An unlocked BL would be better so I can fix these little problems myself but I'm not holding my breath to receive it soon.

I have seen this problem with my phone... but dang, I don't even have problems with dust on my screen and if I exchange it I'm risking it... hmmm

The weirdest problem.

hi guys,
i seriously think i have the weirdest problem on my nexus 5, i looked for ages for someone with that problem. and didnt find.
ever since i've replaced my screen and my battery (pretty sure it's an original one) every now and than my phone just turns off.
the weird part is, it won't turn on until i plug my phone to the charger.
i can plug it even to one second, and than i can turn my phone back on.
and it won't turn on in any other way!
I have this problem for a long time so i gathered some facts:
* it can happen regardless of how much battery i have. it can happen in 90% and it can happen in 10.% but i did found out it is more likely to happen the less battery i have.
* it happens more when i use stock apps: google search, google maps, camera...
* it happens almost always when i take a picture with the camera , especially if i use flash
* it is more likely to happen if the device is wormer (after a long heavy use...)
* it is also likely to happen if i press the "back" button a lot of times rapidly to go back to home screen
Ask lg
Have you isolated the reverse power flux coupling?
This is not weird. Obviously something went wrong when you replaced battery and or screen.

That's fine, except no one here is going to be able to tell what you did or didn't do when you opened up the device and replaced the battery and screen. There's some very sensitive circuitry in there. Could be anything. Most likely NOT software-related or other folks would be having these same issues. and they're not.

You're describing basically the same issues I used to have with my old Samsung galaxy s4 when the battery got bloated. 3 times.. 100% bad battery.
I mean, c'mon dude really? you replaced the battery AND the screen and you still think you're having software issues?.. just replace the battery for one you're more than "pretty sure" is an original one..

I was hoping somebody would catch the reference

Double tap to wake often does not work reliably.

Especially when phone has been idling for a bit (10+ minutes). I have pocket mode off. Quite frustrating.
Agreed, coming from the V30, it is not very reliable, it misses quite a few double taps for me as well =( if they only had kept the always on display, that would probably help. Removing this feature was very silly from OP, they should at least leave a switch and let the user decide...
My gf has been complaining a lot about this to me too, however I've yet to have it miss any double taps.
Hopefully its software and not hardware related.
Its definitely more of a double... triple... quadruple tap most of the time for me. Its as if when in a deeper sleep state it doesn't respond to double tap.
I sent a bug report to oneplus. I hope other people do the same!

I have noticed this as well. It usually doesn't work the first time. It has been a bit better with pocket mode off though.
It's really random. Sometimes after my phone idles for 8 hours overnight, double tap will work flawlessly. Sometimes, after just 3 minutes, I will need like 4 double taps.
No one solution yet?
I've noticed as well. Very random. Have to use fingerprint or power button. Kinda pathetic feature functionality.
I confirm this...
Even my old 4 years Oppo Find 7 is much better...
Really strange that OP haven't solved this yet
Settings/battery/ 3dots at top right/ advanced optimization / turn them off. That solved the problem for me.
They told me they have fixed it (that was with Android 8) and it was better. But now and Android 9 it's worse than ever. My wife's OP5 works perfectly.

The problem with double taps is they have to be precisely in the same spot. Otherwise, there's a chance that they don't work.
This is a bug that OP should have fixed a long time ago.

I gave it a try after learning about it from reading this thread and overall it's great, except for one flaw...
I like having lift to wake so I can use my fp to get into my phone. This AOD requires a double tap to wake.

Good find, I'll definitely be trying that one. Wonder if it works with lift to wake?
I found this used about 30%+ of my battery yesterday when I had it on all the time, heh. Also automatic face unlock (where you hit the side button and it auto unlocks) does not seem to work but you can still double tap then hit the face unlock button. Seems like at that point you would just use the fingerprint unlock. It does have a lift to wake option but I could never get it working (the AOD would never turn on when the feature was enabled). I ended up setting it to only be on when the phone is charging and works great on my charging dock so I can see important stuff while in bed. It is a beta so hopefully there will be some improvements in the future.

Yeah if this app switched over to the stock ambient display on lift, it would be the perfect AOD solution in my opinion.

Its a good app but sadly auto lock dont work and also when the AOD is activated, it messes up the phone's screen on time as well because it's taken into account. Used the premium version for quite sometime now
