Google camera crashing everytime in LOS 15.1 - General Questions and Answers

I'm flashed LOS 15.1 with open gapps arm64>>8.1>>stock beta. It works superbly except Google camera. Whenever opening camera it crashes. Can't take photos. But it takes video by holding the icon and directly go to take video option, it works perfectly. It crashes when I switch back to camera. I'm uninstalled the camera system app using uninstaller and installed an Google camera apk from 3rd party sites, it also crashes like before with same issues. Is this due to LOS 15.1? Please help how to fix. Thanx

Try adding "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1" to your build.prop file, if it doesn't exist already. That should enable the API that Google Camera uses for pictures. That fixed my Google Camera crashing problem, I'm also on LOS 15.1. Hopefully it can fix yours as well

also, i forgot to mention, you might want to do a format system prior to the next ROM flash. this might help solve a lot of these issues.
im on nightly 201 and the camera app actually is giving me problems, but i installed the miui camera and that seems to be working fine
What apps do you have frozen?
No, I'm on:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362451
The latest one, camera app works fine.
On an older build it would crash if you tried to use the camcorder function with the front facing camera. It doesn't anymore.
yeah, the same crash happens to me every single time!
Flash the LG camera for CM7 in CWM, linked in my signature, it works better anyway.

[Q] Camera upside down in third party camera app

Hi. I am currently using Miui rom for Xperia J. I have a problem which I have seen on any other custom rom such as Touchwiz rom or CM10 rom. I have google the problem but I can't find any solution. I don't know if it a bugs for Cm based or what. When i install third party camera apps such as Camera360 or Cymera, my front camera will be upside down. But the camera that in the system can be used normally. I also have tried to fix the rotation of the camera360 but still facing that problem. Hope someone helps. Thanks in advance.
Edit: After trying a few camera app in google playstore finally i know only a few camera apps will be upside-down for the front camera. And so far i have to change my favorite camera apps because front camera of camera360 also will be upside down. I have seen this problem in other cm based rom too.
Helpp
None of the Xperia J user have this problem? If so, I'm afraid it is my phone problem then.

I think the app has the problem. I never use camera360 though. I use retrica. It works fine.

Thank you for your reply. But I'm afraid that all my third party camera apps are like that. The camera system is the only one that work. Other camera apps will be 180' when using front camera. Actually I'm having this problem when I use custom rom non then the Sony based. When I'm using Alienrom or Doomsday, I never have this problem.

Front Camera FC issues - camera app N915G

Could someone post a link to the camera app from stock lollipop?
I'm on N915G. I don't know if that matters, or any camera app for the Samsung Note Edge will do.
I keep getting FC using the front facing camera and can't seem to fix it.
May be I will have to reinstall the stock rom instead of using the Thunderbolt v1.0 custom rom I am using, .
UPDATE:
I read that when customisation of some roms, certain deleted apps to debloat the ROM may cause such issues.
I just flashed stock ROM and now front camera is working again.
Just proves what others have said about FC of camera app when selecting front camera may have merit.
are you disable the Svoice?! for me S voice cues thee FC

No I didn't realise that svoice caused FC issues. I'll keep it in mind if I experience FC again. Thank you.

P20 Pro camera gallery for non EMUi ROM's workaround

Hi all,
When I've installed lineage or treble ROMs I've always installed the p20 pro port, but the gallery missing is a ballache.
Was just having a tinker and found that there is a little glitch that can be used to get the gallery to come up on lineage / treble based ROMs that are using the P20 Pro camera port, this isn't a fix but it's definitely better than switching apps.
Firstly install either Lineage or wait for a treble based ROM to have the updated script which fixes the random reboots then visit and install the port of the P20 Pro camera from here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...uawei-p20-pro-camera-app-treble-roms-t3798767
Workaround
-------------------
1. Install a gallery application you would like to use
This is the one I used
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobiletools.gallery
*Note* any gallery application will work, even photos.
2. Open the P20 Pro camera application
3. Take a picture.
4. Click the circular preview of the photo you just took.
*Note* - the screen will go black and will usually fail at this point.
5. Swipe to recents whilst it's trying to open the gallery then click back onto camera / gallery and it'll show you the choices for your gallery, make your choice.
6. Do this process again and then select your gallery app and then click Always.
That's it.
Working
---------------
Landscape - if you take a pic and open up the gallery from the shortcut in the camera whilst you're in landscape mode ie: sideways the gallery will open as expected.
Not working
--------------------
Portrait - opening the gallery app whilst in portrait mode will cause the original problem to occur, to get around this simply switch to recents then click back on camera or gallery and it'll open gallery as expected.
To do
---------
Have got the Huawei gallery apk but can't install it, it would work using the above if I could get it to install..
Not sure if this was common knowledge or not but I didn't know so for those of you who didn't....
Enjoy
Hi, i accidentally uninstalled Gallery via adb. How to get back the original Gallery apk. Tq

OnePlus Camera App in custom ROM

Howdy!
I'm using LineageOS (without Gapps) on my OnePlus 7 Pro and it's great. The only drawback is the camera.
I installed the Stock ROM OP camera app and gallery app and they kind of 'work' but the picture quality is just not there. It looks a lot worse, especially in wide angle mode.
Very soft, mushy, very grainy in the shadows, just overall poor quality.
Also, the camera app crashes when I open it every time. I have to long-click and select a mode, that's the only way to open the app. I also can't get from the camera directly to the gallery.
I'm using the 'correct' versions since I got the apk from my device when it was running OxygenOS 10.3.1
I tried installing 'OnePlus Camera service' apk, but it wouldn't install.
Did any of you guys figure out how to get the stock camera to work on a custom rom? I suspect there is some post processing app needed that runs in the background, cleaning up the picture.
thanks!
You should give Gcam a go.
There's a good discrption in the apps thread
I haven't seen OOSCam work well in any ROM. Gcam is great for photos, but stock OOS cam is what I want to use for video. It's the reason I went back to stock.
