Lo all, great phone this, I really like it.
One thing that bothers me though:
When using a listing like the WMphonebook, when I scroll down and select an entry and accidentally press the one next to it and then press "return" I'm at the top of the PB-list again. Meh.
Anyone know a tweak or program to make it remember the last position in a long listing? Both Phonebook and filelistings would be useful f ex.
Also has anyone got a way to Cut/paste w/out an extra program or do i need a separate program for that? Try f ex copying a phonenumber from Contacts list and try pasting it into another application.
Cheers beforehand,
Paul

i do this by switching to WinMobile standard keybord and Ctrl+X, C, V
Cheers, how can I switch to the standard windows keyboard? Only got the numbers and the Qwerty ones?
After looking alot around the net I found Fingerkeyboard which gives a nice layout keyboard and Cut/paste-functionality wherever there is a SIP.
Can recommend it.

Somehow I can't seem to find the Question mark on iot though.
Still It can be fixed.
Anyone found a solution to returning to the same spot in listings?
Bump anyone?
SlideIT is always placing a space between words or, more accurate, in front of all words. Only the first word in a text gets away without a space before it. But, if I write the first word in a text, delete it to replace it with another word, it will create a space and the word will be all small letters!
Example:
Hi it's me!
(now, if i want to replace the word "Hi" with "Hello", I'll go back, delete that word only, and it turns out like this:
<space>hello it's me!
(a space in front of the first word, and its all small letters)
Also, in my language (norwegian) there is a lot of words that are combined by two words, but SlideIT doesn't allow me to enter two words without a space between them, unless i go back and delete the space myself.
Well, easy solution: Go to options and de-select the Automatic space option! Yeah, thats the problem right there. I've already tried a bunch of times, but it doesn't change anything! The spaces keep appearing no matter what!
I've already emailed Dasur, and here is what I got:
Dear Sven Erik
We will check this issue,
Can you tell me if it append aso in Note an Word application ?

I answered YES to both apps, but still no answer.. (Sent on April 12th)
So, is anyone else having this problem?
Any solutions?
SlideIT looks nice and is nice to use but it has lots of little annoying bugs like the one you highlight here. The killer for me was the correction issue with HTC Messaging. I emailed Dasur suggesting they change their editing to the method Swype uses where you can place the cursor anywhere in a word to change it to something else using the suggestion system. With SlideIT you need to highlight the entire word which can't be done in HTC Messaging. As a result, any changes when composing text messages means the word has the be deleted and retyped in it's entirety.
As a result I'm still using Swype until these problems are resolved.

Norsk og tysk har mange likheter! (Er det riktig?)
I have the exact same issue: In German, many words are combined to create longer words as well and because the automatic space option is not working, it is not possible to enter them without having to remove the spaces inbetween manually afterwards. I also contacted Dasur and they sent me an answer thanking me for the feedback... But nothing has happened since! Otherwise SlideIt is awesome!
talk to them on their facebook page, they may be a bit more responsive there.

Yup, Norwegian is part of the German language tree
I sent Dasur a new mail yesterday, and again they reply with questions. I answer them, and guess what? No replies...
Same problems with dutch language here. I also searched for a solution and sent an e-mail but no response.
I got my response from Dasur now, it seems like the auto space option is only ment for ABC-mode:
It's not a bug,
We think that in slide mode* you write word after word
and not try to add word to word (in most languages you can't combine words)
my suggestion to you is to save the long words and to slide them in one slide
In the next version we will offer to disable the auto space in the slide mode too.
Great Day,

But that sucks! Sliding really long words with one pass is very inconvenient! The margin for errors is far too big! And it would be such an easy thing to implement! Come on!
Oh well... We'll see what the next version brings.
I just realized that the auto space option makes no sense if it is only ment for the abc mode, as you enter all letters and spaces manually. so as a reply to the mail I received earlier (see my previous posts) i had to reply:
Hi,
So what you are saying is that auto space option can only be turned off in abc mode? Is there even auto space in abc mode? How does auto space work in abc mode? I am sorry, but I cannot seem to make any sense of this...

I agree, v4.1.0.3 has been out for quite a while now so i hope im wrong but i think it will still be a wihle before a newer version is released.
As mentioned, it actually does respond faster than Swype but Swype is much more finger friendly, has less bugs, its just a smarter layout for editing etc.
SlideIT has great advantages though like the abbreviations etc so if they can just tweak it a little, it will be better than Swype. Needs skins as well, very plain unfortunately.
New mail received!
Okay, i still cant seem to figure these guys out...

if you slide you will get auto space always

can you ACTUALLY turn off the auto space option successfully?
Topic pretty much says it all. I would really like to replace the tutorial button with a speech to text button on the swype keyboard. Anybody know if this is possible?
Thanks,
Travis
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
That tutorial button serves a number of purposes and shouldn't be replaced.
Yes, it's like swype's main menu. I mainly use it to delete gibberish words that I end up adding when I'm on a swyping marathon. It's also useful to correct a word that's already been swyped.
Not to sound like an ass, but my question was not what the button was for. I know that already, I have only actually used it once after a few weeks with the phone. There is also another way to get to that same menu. So for ME, changing the key would be useful. I was under the impression that making my phone more usable for ME was what android was all about. If I wanted to be told how to hold/use my phone I would have just bought an iphone 4.
Again I do not want to be an ass, but this is the 2nd time(first not at xda) I have been told the purpose of something instead of getting an answer to my question.
So please anybody, is there a way that I can change the swype key to something else(speech to text)? If so what do I need to go about doing.
I would just like a straight yes or no answer, and some direction.
Thanks,
Travis
You probably shouldn't have called it the "tutorial key" then. It made you sound like you had no idea what you were talking about.
Hello, I believe the captivate and vibrant are similar so this may be of use to you:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742084
I know it's not changing the swype button to a voice button, but it is adding a voice button which is half of what you asked for
Best of luck!
Does anyone have yahoo, aim or msn, that would be willing to walk me though
the steps of upping the framerate and also adding a different keyboard. I have
tried to do both on my own, but I seem to be messing up some where, cause
neither end up working.
Thanks.
The keyboard is easy find one you like in the market download it then go back to the home screen and press menu , settings, language and keyboards, then put a check by the keyboard then go into gmail or anything here you can pull up a keyboard and on the input screen long press and select keyboard

Swiftey wouldn't set
OK, first things first. What ROM are you running?
Stock TNT--and therefore TNTLite--does not "allow" switching the keyboard. Of course, there are (easy) work arounds.

Stock with performance pack. I have done read the posts and tried to do it, but
I can't get it to work. Same with the frame rate hack. If someone could walk
me though it on a messenger or even make a video that would help.
OK, did you see this post?

The part about rooting is important. I didn't have to do that since I had already flashed TNTLite, so I can't give you any insight on z4root. Should be in the market though.

Already rooted.
You'll want to get Root Explorer from the market so you can move the API file from one directory to the other. Then, Jim, who wrote that post invited stock users to private message him about an app to help select the keyboard. I've read a lot of his posts and he really knows his stuff.
Ok, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but if I'm doing a "Respond Inline" for Gmail (as just one example), how do I scroll to a particular point to start typing. Just paging up or down wants to put me at the start of the line, and even then I have a hard time getting to the line. I'm kind of used to the trackball on my trusty N1 I guess.
TIA!

I think you'll need a keyboard that has cursor keys, e.g. Smart keyboard.
