7.0 and BB ver G920VVRS4DQE1... root methods? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

I know, if I read and search, I may find it. But, dang, it's a lot of reading, and I haven't rooted since my S4.
Can I root this version without moving to 5.1.1?

I have been scouring this place forever looking for the answer. From everything I have seen anything past 5.x.x is either useless or a hassle that requires a laptop or some form of terminal to reset upon reboot of phone. Nothing on Nougat has been shown to work that explicitly requires 'real' root access.

I'm looking as well as I'd like to root a phone to do a complete backup and then rom it.

Not possible atm cus our boot loader is locked :/

Yes it is possible i Confirme it AGAIN.
I had to Flash 6.0.1 , Then update the SEpolicy, THEN update to 7.0 (Carefull not to upgrade to 7.1)
Then Follow my Guide i've been working on for almost 2 Weeks
Last Step, ENJOY.

[Completed] Rooting LG Escape 3 Gold (LG-K373) & Stock Firmware

Like many other threads I have browsed through, I too am having issues with King Root rooting and then suddenly rebooting my phone. After a successful reboot in the midst of not even 30% complete of rooting being complete, it still says my phone is rooted until the reboot occurs. After the reboot, it says I am not rooted. So, I still assume that King Root still has no methods to root this model yet. However, I am dealing with two issues I was hoping to get someone with experience, expertise, or just very smart with rooting Android platforms.
1. I was wondering if there is a way to root this model whether it can be done with with or without a computer or laptop. King Root has now become a system application that I can't remove because I don't have root access. I've tried everything to get rid of it. It constantly on a daily basis notifies me that it's trying to or that I need to try to gain root access. I would not have any issue reverting back to original firmware as hard reset has done nothing.
2. Is there a different firmware (I prefer the most recent update) available for this model? I could live with reverting back to the original firmware when I bought the phone in July 2016 from Cricket Wireless. I am not able due to the hardware or software thinking I'm rooted or suspicious of rooting so the update won't process after downloading.
This is my first post. Sorry, if I seem like a newbie here. I just haven't found any relevant answers on Google or searching the forums for similar posts. If there is a way to root successfully, please provide links or some instructions on how to do so. If not, I hope someone can help me revert my firmware to the newest or factory bought. Anything to just get rid of King Root and I know and have already accomplished disabling KR for the time being despite doing hard reset twice already. Is it possible to replace firmware with a new ROM as well?
Thanks for your time and God bless.

Combination of Issues - Rooting, Downgrading, FRP Lock...

So I have a Sprint Galaxy S6. Until last week, I was running Android 5.1. I actively avoided upgrading to 6.0.1 because things are getting more difficult with the use of certain programs and with rooting and all that.
Something important required me to TRY upgrading to Android 6, hoping this might solve my problem. It didn't. The problem has since fixed itself (much to my confusion), but now I'm stuck with Android 6. And by upgrading I lost my custom recovery and root. I now find out that downgrading is quite a task and multiple sources say don't do it under any circumstances.
I'm (probably) fine with keeping Android 6.0 if I could just figure out how to root my phone (preferably easily). Tried PingPongRoot which is what I had previously, also tried King Root and Kingo Root and nothing worked. They all failed. PPR even put me in a catch-22 whereby I couldn't root until I got SuperSU working, but SuperSU wouldn't work because the binary wasn't installed and required root to do so. So I needed root to make SuperSU work and needed SuperSU to work in order to root. Fail.
So I got CF-Auto-Root. I figured easy, right? Then I get something I've never seen before: "Custom Binary Blocked by FRP Lock." This was not on my phone before I updated. Flashing with Odin failed instantly. Phone still works, but I'm back to square one. Looked up how to fix this problem and found that, this too, could mess me up. I'm locked out of Titanium Backup until I root and I don't want to go ruining my phone without a backup of all of my apps, for which I need TB.
1) How do I root my Galaxy S6 SM-G920P Android 6.0.1 easily? Relatively easily?
2) Is there a safe way to get rid of the FRP Lock so that I can root?
3) If rooting Android 6 is going to be dangerous, is downgrading back to Android 5 possible? Is this equally, if not more, dangerous?
I did NOT know what a pain this would be going to Android 6. I'm totally frazzled right now and out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Rooting is fairly straightforward with cf-autoroot, you're main problem here is frp (factory reset protection) which is a Google security feature, you need to remove this or bypass this 1st before doing anything. I've seen a few articles and guides on Google, but as I don't have this issue I cannot say if they work or not but at a glance they do not seem very difficult. But once you get past the frp lock you can go ahead and root. If you are on a newer marshmallow bootloader then downgrading to lollipop is pretty much impossible

Thanks. I looked it up myself. Requires something called "Find my mobile," a setting under "Lock Screen and Security." I don't have that.
Samsung's website says if you don't see it, then your device is not supported. Kill me now!
I completely screwed myself by updating. If anyone else knows a way to do this with my... limitations, I would love to hear about it.

Method 1 being... factory reset? I'm hoping to keep my phone in tact.
I did find something stupidly simple that someone just happened to off hand comment on in an old thread. Apparently there's a switch in the settings to disable OEM protections. I didn't think it would work but it really was that easy.
Was able to root successfully using CF, but then doing a SuperSU full unroot caused a bootloop. I have to figure out the proper way to root for my needs now.
Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Before I try to root (and potentially mess up), am I doing this right?

So I logged on in the first time in forever to find out that I could downgrade my g920v down to lollipop and then one-click root it. So before I started anything I just wanted to confirm, if I downgrade like is described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/general/g920vvrs4dqd1-odin-nougat-7-0-firmware-t3597007 and then root like described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/general/ok7-og5-sm-g920v-s6-verizon-oneclick-t3506861 will everything work? I'm running stock 7.0 right now
Depends on what you mean by "will everything work?"
You can downgrade no problem.
If you follow the root thread you will see, if I recall correctly, that you lose root on reboot of the phone. So ya, that is a thing. You will keep root settings in Xposed and etc, but you will have to go through the root process again should the phone reboot.
That is kind of the really short version. But that is the main reason I have been keeping my phone stock, for now anyway.

[ROOT][MAGISK] For Asus ZenPad 10 3s[P027]

Just goot this device rooted! Just gonna test the script a few times so there isent any bugs and i will upload it!
EDIT: Systemless Root methods like Magisk resets after root(I Think SuperSu works if u tweak dm-verity in the kernel). But using system-root both breaks saftynet and is boring
So im gonna try to edit the boot img to work with magisk or SuperSU even if the bootloader is locked.
If none of theese things works there is a way to Re-root after each reboot but its ofc much easyer just to edit the boot.img or unlock the BL
EDIT 2: I will also try to reverse engineer the bootloader to try to find a weak point where we can unlock it, for easyer rooting and creating custom roms
EDIT 3: Also forgot to mention xposed works because you dont "need" root. If anyone want xposed just reply in the thread and il upload the script "as is" even though it resets after each reboot, but root works perfect have tested multiple apps.
And as i said before, before i release the root method publicly i want to check if its the BL who "resets" the kernel like on some HTC devices or if its a simple dm-verity problem , if it is the dm-verity thing its easy to fix.
More info:
Flashing kernel, system, recovery works because the only partitions that are protected are the BL and FRP partions but not for long
So far:
Magisk: Works
Bootloader: Locked
Saftynet: Passes

j wait for your script to root my Z500 m thanks to you.
Wow, finally there's a method to root. I own the device since august and I really want to get it rooted due to all bloatware I want to uninstall and to install 3rd party apps.:good:
super thanks to you me too and thanks to you I could root the tablet with all s is unnecessary thank you for your work:good::good::good:
Cant wait
Wow.... time is ticking to bring root to the P027
I can't wait for an update on this.
There must be another way to get a rooted ASUS P027. I tried much but don't have any success. I think that there is a way to push some files manually to /data/local/tmp. Setting right permissions using adb. Finally executing a root-shell-script from one of many should do the rest. Problem is not to get the files inside the system, you have to do it again after each reboot.
I'm a bit nervous to modify bootloaders and flash them on the go with no oem support. If some support for this device comes available from ASUS it should be a lot easyer to do.
I cant upload photo's till i'm no longer seem like a robot. I also got some kind of root on my P027. only for a moment. After reboot it is gone.
I can't wait for that!
Will it come out soon..... so excited ^_^

Yes
Ok guy's where do we stand on root as of 5pm Wednesday 10.04.2017 ??
I bought the ASUS Zenpad 3S 10 [P027] off Amazon on Saturday on a flash sale for $265, knowing it didn't have root, and that's a shame because it's a beautiful & buttery smooth tablet.
Today, as I was pondering boxing it up for a return, I figured I'd look for myself once more for the hell-of-it, AND BOOM! I found this thread!
So where are we guys? I'll test it for ya or whatever! So friggin' pumped ROOT has been established! Dare I say -Vanilla Oreo ROM with onscreen softkeys??? YEAH!
Really looking forward to this! I don't mind getting my hands dirty, but just waiting for the script I'm very happy to have stumbled upon this thread, can't wait to have root on this tablet!!
Fortunately we will get to see the script. I own the P027 since auust 17. A very good hardware. But without root its only worth half. So, me too is awaiting the script but so far I guess we still have to wait. Til now, no root app works (iRoot, Kingo, e.g.) Very sad because I think that once we rooted it and get rid of all the OEM bloatware, this tab may rocks a lot more.

to remove bloatware, i followed this guide. I can confirm ist works.

Can you go ahead and upload the script for those of us brave enough to try it? Thank you for all your hard work!
I got root and xposed. But I don't have a way to get it in that device
At my next post will I upload a photo or link of my own (semi) rooted P027. The Magic of rooting a device which is unsupported is far away from easy as flashing chainfire's zips or something possible using Odin or what. Most likely if there was a custom recovery for the P027 root would be easy because of all possibilities you have.
I've tried a lot of other ways to get in to try modify something in that locked system. It is hard to get there without losing patients! I also lose social networks I belong to. Even if days counts 48 hour instead of 24, root wasn't there with the success I had hope to. Sometimes only after manually redirecting some files with adb and manually setting right permissions to every file. It becomes possible to get accessing "su" in terminal app. Only sometimes, after each modifying something, you're device needs to reboot for applying that modification. At that point you lose everything before you can use it.
If someone can post latest boot.img I will try to patch it with Magisk. If that is possible it will get easier to activate systemless xposed. A few weeks ago on note 8 launch day... It took at least 1 hell of a day before root came available on xda. Also twrp and custom roms are available.
Hope soon to make it happening for real.
hi I would buy this tablet but wanted to understand root situation. can you run the root on this device? you can install Rom?

Hope it will be helpful to you. I am really looking forward to root this device!
Thank you for your hard work!

[Q] Update to Android 10 first, or root first?

Hi everyone,
I'm waiting for my Oneplus 7 pro to ship. I intend to upgrade to Android 10 and to root (via Magisk) it + install TWRP but was reading it around and found conflicting answers.
Which of the ff is easier / less problematic?
a) out of the box, install TWRP and root, then use workaround here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80006134&postcount=1); or
b) update to Android 10 first then root (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80327267&postcount=24)?
Thank you in advance
Probably update then root.
The reason you have conflicting answers, is that (it least that I can tell) no definitive best way (root + update versus update + root).
Rooting, and then update (keeping root, TWRP) to me seems easier than patching your own boot image (or using one that is posted). But I don't think it's a huge difference either way. Honestly, there seems to be more folks with problems rooting Android 10 than I'm used to seeing. I'm holding off a bit before updated to 10, with the expectation that things will level out a bit. But I intend to update and keep TWRP/root (since I'm presently rooted on 9).
And yes, I know my answer contradicts the previous response. So that probably doesn't help your dilemma. I don't necessarily feel the other guy is wrong. Like I said, you can go either way. No clear best choice. You can practically flip a coin!
Hi everyone. Thank you for the responses.
Phrasing this into another way, which of the two approaches would be safer or harder to f*ckup (or less likely to cause bootloops etc)? Thank you
as long as you install twrp .70 it doesnt matter what you do first.
without twrp: first update, then root. Had Qualcomm CrashDump mode when I was rooted and tried to uptade to A10 stable...
Update them root.
TWRP version 70 allows you to boot the image and install Magisk.
No issues.
