T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S9+ Waiting Room - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello all!
Let's chat while we wait!
I ordered mine minutes after pre-orders started. Ordered the blue!
Thanks!

Ordered blk for me and blue for the wife.

Ordered Lilac for the wife.

Not going to pre order just yet. For one I don't think it's right to have to pay a down payment with JOD. I paid 0 down with the IPhone X because I was well qualified and had been with Tmobile for more that 3 years. Now they want a down payment. Uhhhh no. Also last year after the Note 8 preorders were over Samsung/Tmobile ran a promotion where if you bought the Note 8 you received 40000 Samsung rewards points which you could redeem for a $200 Samsung rewards visa.

Strange they're going back to a down payment up front for JOD upgrades to the + model. I had to do that with the S7 Edge, Note 7, and S8+, but then with the Note 8, V30, iPhone X there was no Down Payment for JOD, just rolled it into a higher monthly payment. LOL i didn't feel like paying the $120 so just went with the smaller s9 and in a month or two if i change my mind i'll upgrade to the s9+ and pay whatever the rate is at that time. I went with the purple since it'll be in a case and nobody will see it anyway. My wife thought it was "Pretty".

Yea I had the rep verify with management about the down payment and yep 120.00. So even if you’re planning on keeping till the note 9 in september that still equates to 20/mo so all in all you’re paying 50/mo. But i’m stupid and paid it anyway.

I just bought 2 from Samsung a purple one for the wifey and black one for myself. Now just waiting for them to start shipping them out

Ordered at 12:02am 1 Black S9+ for 50% off!

Same here, that's why i didn't get the iphone 8/+/X last year ($274 down) but they only wanted $120 down for the 64 gb version of the S9+. Paying $670 for the total.

I actually forgot about preorders and ended up ordering mine over 50 minutes after they went live. Order the black version. I was considering getting something other than black for the first time in a long time but didn't care for the blue or purple. I made the right choice. I went to best buy today to play with the demo units and none of the colors look that good. The blue wasn't as shiny as I thought it'd be and the purple was just...meh. The stereo speakers sounded underwhelming, maybe it was because it was in a giant store. I was hoping they would sound closer to the iPhone stereo speakers but they sounded like a single bottom firing speaker with a stereo speaker mod you'd find on XDA. We'll see when we have our actual phones though.

Preordered a black s9+ while planning on selling my s8+ on Craigslist. Then I saw that even older phones get a $200 trade in credit. I have an old s6 edge laying around doh...
Going to try to cancel my preorder tomorrow and try to reorder with the trade in. I signed an eip so hopefully it's not a pain.

It should not be an issue. I did it before because the rep put in the wrong color. They canceled and reordered even after I signed the dotted line. However, that could just be an exception because it was their error. I doubt it will be an issue though. TMO customer service is spot on. I would recommend doing it over DM with T-Mobile Help on Twitter. That's what I do for EVERYTHING. On second thought, don't. I don't want my wait times to be longer =P
JK, they are AWESOME, FAST and EFFICIENT on Twitter.
Best of Luck,
Tee Jay

Alrighty guys im in a bit of a predicament. I want to pre order the s9+ but I don't know with either Tmobile or Samsung itself. I have an s8+ and if I trade it in with Tmobile, I end up with a $336 down and $6 a month or with Samsung it would be the rest of the full retail price of $480 or the financing of $21 a month. Tmobile is carrier locked and Samsung isn't. Or should I just sell my s8+ somewhere for more? I found a note 4 but it's blacklisted so there goes that one haha

Not sure why everyone is being charged a down payment with the plus model. I pre ordered the blue s9 plus with zero down and 37 a month. With jump on demand.
One person mentioned the blue wasn't that great of a color hope I don't regret not getting black.

Blue looks great, I saw it today at best buy. Black looks kind of plain and it's a fingerprint magnet.
On day one Tmobile was charging a down payment. My guess is sells weren't that great so they came to their senses. O down payment is for well qualified and for those with more then three years with Tmobile. On day one every had to pay the $120. I knew it would change so I waited.

I'm on JOD and I was charged with a $130 down. I asked the rep to verify with his managers. He did and came and said that whether on JOD or Finance, there is a down required. How exactly did you get it with zero down?

I ordered thru the app with a TMobile rep thru messages. The s9 was 0 down and 30 a month and s9 was 0 down and 37 a month. I chose the plus model for the extra 2 gigs of RAM. I'm trading in my iPhone x which was also 0 down and (I think) 44 a month. All I paid was device taxes of $2.54 and shipping (overnight) with a total of $26.68.
Maybe try thru the app messages next time. Maybe there more up to date with how things work. Dunno,

Order now at verizonwireless.com $229 one year!!

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...t&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5605
EDIT:
You have to login and click UPGRADE now instead of this link now! Then choose the thunderbolt! I use firefox and it still shows these prices, but it might be because I didn't clear my cookies. I cleared my cookies in IE and it didn't show the prices I mentioned before unless you go to My Verizon home and click Upgrade phone under my Device.
I ordered it 1 year for $229
They have 2 year for $200
They were showing the full price as $449 earlier, but now it shows $600 for me
But at this time the 1 year and 2 year prices are as I stated above in firefox and IE
YOU MUST LOGIN TO SEE PRICE!

I did. Chose to upgrade my phone, $249.99 2yr. Think I'll just hit up the local store instead.
I got the same deal, I was on the phone with a VZW rep and she said she didn't know why I got the price I did.... She couldn't match it from her side, so I went ahead and ordered the phone online.
I was able to order through my company web portal this morning. Got it on a 1 year for $229.99. Showed up as $319 on the general public VZW page though.
The difference would probably be if your due for your NE2. purchased mine for $229 / 1 yr contract. This line WAS due for it
Btw: my price came up at $149 for a 2 yr contract. Guessing this is my last $50 from them though

Awesome!
It still shows in both places for me with firefox when I login, I had to do the login stuff and upgrade phone with IE
it only shows this if you get a discount through a job
im getting my for 50 dollars but i just looked anywayz , says 249 for 2 yrs & 319 for 1 one for me
I got in for the $199 for 2 years
Do you guys think value wise its more worth it to go with the 1yr at 229 since you'd be up for another subsidized phone price in a year? My employer's vzw site has the 229 1yr active.. should I do it? Currently my order is placed with amazon for $180 shipped (no sales tax which is another 40 dollars in savings), but I have to wait till Monday to get it
Thoughts? Thanks!
The other thing is that after a year, I seriously doubt ulimited LTE will still be 30/month so I feel like the 1 year kinda could screw you?
Says my order shipped, but shows no tracking yet!
i tried going through my verizon account online and selecting the upgrade option, still showed the $249 for the 2 year contract.
but then i tried my employer's portal to the verizon store online and got the $229/1 year and $199/2 year contract prices. guess for whatever reason my account isn't fully synced to show my employer's affiliation. hmmm this could be a good way to get the tbolt for cheap.....i think i'll go check one out in person at verizon and then decide.
Do you guys think that after 1 year when you have to sign a new contract... will you still be able to pay the $30 unlimited lte? hmmm crapshoot

Cheapest way for me to get a Nexus?

I really want the Nexus S 4G when it comes out. I don't have any upgrades available.
The full retail price I expect to be $550 through Sprint. My thought is that my best option would be to cancel my current line, pay the ETF ($160 for me right now) and then immediately get a new line and get the Nexus for $200. This would be a total cost of $360.
I guess my other option would be to add a new line to my account, get the Nexus for $200, then cancel my previous line and pay the ETF.
Any other ideas? I just want to get the Nexus for as cheap as possible.

See image 2 posts above for $199.99 with 2 year upgrade / $399.99 full retail price.
Cheapest way is to sell EVO 4g for $200 by nexus for $399 plus tax.

The nexus will be $549.99 outright and $199.99 w/2yr agreement. Either way you go it can become rather expensive and I think the best way would to be add a line to your account and cancel the other. You will pay $200 for the nexus but you should be able to get about $250 or $300 outta your Evo as long as it's still in good condition. But that all depends apon the ETF!

This is correct.
The $399 refers to new two-year price or price with upgrade.
http://www.wirefly.com/eCommerce/phones/?&FilterByCarrier=68&mode=&
You can generally get a phone through Wirefly for the contract price without resigning or upgrading. Sell the current phone then put a few bucks more with it and you're all set.

Sprint technically won't let you ETF and sign a new contract and get the 2 year instant discount. Usually they require a 30-day period in order to be considered a "new" customer. Your best bet is to add a new line and then cancel the other line and pay ETF. You'll pay $199.99 for the new phone, $160.00 for ETF, and then sell your EVO for $250-300. Overall, shouldn't cost more than $60-70 to switch phones unless I'm missing something. You WILL be extending your time in shackles with Sprint for another 2 years though.
Myself, I plan on dropping Sprint all together (3 lines on a Family share plan) this summer and going with a local GSM provider. I'll be saving $60 a month and still get unlimited calling, txting, data. Saving $60 a month means I can subsidize myself and buy my own unlocked phones.

This is what makes XDA so good... The people.
Spotted a deal,
sharing it,
Expressed a little confusion on pricing and
some jag tries to create an illusion that he is a superior person by pointing out that this deal is because of the type of store that sells it.
REALLY about a $200 difference...
Wirefly has always offered great deals but when they can sell the same device at %20 of the price you have to wonder why VZW demands such a hefty price.
VZW must have some pretty good kickbacks now that they have there limited Data services which will definitely pull in some megabucks.
Direct locations are owned by verizon and indirect locations are not. Never goto direct stores, and they have no flexibility on pricing what so ever and generally arnt as friendly.

I went to a direct store and they matched Amazon's price on the Thunderbolt.
Enjoy your "new" phone, that's been activated on at least two other accounts...yay indirects
All indirects aren't the same. Mine isn't allowed to do that, once a phone has been activated we aren't allowed to sell it again and must return it to the manufacturer.
Well generally phones do go down in price with age, and a few months is quite a lot when it comes to technology.
I paid $250.00 used no contract.

Indirects get F'd in the butt with stupid goddamn deals like that. Indirects buy the phones at wholesale. The Thunderbolt is so expensive that the profit is crap. To upgrade someone to a thunderbolt only brings in 80 something dollars. If we discount the phone anymore than $80 we lose money.
We don't have to honor Amazon or Wireflyer deals. But when VZW pulls a deal like buy one get one free for the Droid 3 and Droid X2 we get ****ed cause we have to honor it.
A couple did that yesterday...his and hers Droid X2s. What would have been a $250 profit ended up being $50.
It's not that big of a deal for a direct store to match an Amazon deal. VZW makes tons of money from the contracts. Why do you think they give away the top of the line devices to their reps?
Indirects make money from a combination of phones and contracts. With some phones it's no big deal to give them for free but with a smartphone it's a whole nother story.

I dont think you guys are reading the fine print for wirefly and amazon...it says that if your services are suspended disconnected or you change your plan within 181 days that you will have a chargeback of $250. So lets say you disconnect your ETF would be $350 ( minus $10 for every mon of active service) plus the chargeback. I dont know about you but thats not something I want to worry about.

So lets say you disconnect your ETF would be $350 ( minus $10 for every mon of active service) plus the chargeback. I dont know about you but thats not something I want to worry about.

Sure I read the fine print. Not like I'm jumping off the unlimited data bandwagon anyways.
Apple are a bunch of assholes. The Iphone only brings in $40 of profit because Apple has their own data plan. It's no different in price and size for the customer but not for the retailer. Also their phones are a fortune to buy and we aren't allowed to sell them for a penny more than listed. We have iphones in our stores but unless the customer has their heart set on them we always steer them into an android.
Also we're not in the business of selling phones as much as we are in the business of customer service. For those that go online to buy things, they always "know better" and don't need our help.
My favorite part is when the online shopper needs to have their contacts transferred, needs their bluetooth synced to their car or has some issue with the phone; comes in the store and blows their stack when we say it's a $15 charge for any of that. Aaaaahahahaha!
In the long run it pays to give a little back to your local business.

You are in the business of "customer service" yet you will steer a customer to an android device and away from an apple device because of a higher profit margin and not necessarily what's best for the customer?
And any corporate verizon store will try and help transfer those contacts for free.

Honestly? Unless you pass on paying your bill, youll never have an issue. Theyre not crazy about it. Theyre actually pretty reasonable from my experience. Not to mention MDPA insurance PWNS Assurion ALL DAY LONG. Wirefly ftw. I got my phone release day for 182 shipped with the first month of insurance paid.

Id laugh at you while walking the hell out of your store. You obviously dont know what customer service means.

Can someone clarify the 149$ vs $249

So I know this phone should be $249.99. However its only $149.99 in select markets. What is the reasoning behind this? I figured it was because I didn't live in an LTE area and I wouldn't for quite awhile; however two reps I spoke with said it was to push the phone to sell in "soon to be launched LTE hotspots". Is this true? I'm I'm.central Cali.

Central Cali? Bakersfield? I live in bako and was told lte early next year

I'm in Modesto and the sales rep looked like I was speaking French when I asked about a LTE rollout. Idiots. Best Buy told me summer 2012. We'll see.

I don't know about other areas but in Greater LA area, it was initially $249 online but after few days, the price dropped. As for the ATT store, the rep told me that it was $149 from start.

The phone costs $149 now in all AT&T stores and if ordered directly by AT&T
They reduced the price of their 2 current LTE phones (Vivid, Skyrocket) by $100 in LTE coverage areas. I do not live in an LTE area but my rep honored the discount, so I was able to get the Skyrocket for $149. I think she just fudged the zip code so the discount would show on the computer. I live about 3 hours away from San Antonio which has LTE coverage. Now I need an excuse to visit so I can test out LTE.
My area has them for $149 right now.
Do you guys think the price will drop any further in the near future?
Or is it likely to go back UP to the $250 it was originally priced at on release date?
Online & all the official stores and authorized retailers in my area that I called in my area had them for $249. I ended up purchasing mine for $149 using my Premier account.
If you are new to ATT or adding a line, you can get it for 50% off at 125 dollars. Although the discount says its online only, the ATT CS guy was awesome for me and did everything right there. Ended up paying 160 dollars for the phone and 3 accessories.

False. I live in an LTE area (Boston) and it is $249.99 for me online.
I ordered mine online. In my area, they wanted $249 for it. So, I started over and gave the website a zip code of 10532 (a market where it was being sold for $149). The order went through at that price point.
The phone hasn't shipped yet, but I don't foresee an issue.
All over Dallas and its suburbs the phone its selling for 249.99. I purchased mine @ Fry's for 149.99.

I also live in the Bay Area. When I went to check the AT&T web site for the phone, the price was $149 ($249 and a $100 rebate). The stores had exactly the same price.
i just got taken for $249 + tax
so i'm calling the AT&T to see if they can credit me the difference

FALSE!! Well sort of. The sale looks to be over now. That's why it shows to $249 even in LTE coverage areas now. Sorry guys.
One of my previous managers I used to work for told me the $149.99 was always going to be a "launch" price. Couldn't confirm timeframe and this was just for select Corp locations.

I guess you guys got the shaft from the get go then. Strange they would not discount the phone in such a large city. All 3 LTE areas in Texas had the discount, for a few days anyway.
It never showed 149 in Atlanta and we have had lte since day 1
It does show 149 when using the 10532 zip listed above so the sale is not over

As of Sunday morning 11-20-2011, Houston Texas (LTE area) prices shows $149 when I log in to my upgrade options, and same price when not signed in just looking at pricing with new activation.
I'm trying really hard NOT to buy this phone. Keep telling myself to save the money, the prices might come down, and give Samsung/ATT time to work out any bugs this new device may have.
But I'm getting weak .... cant resist .... much ... longer..

25% off 3 Accessories (Gear 2 Included) on att site

If you're in the States, jump on this! Grabbed a neo + 2 filler accessories and paid 170 after tax. Ship free 2-4 days. I think the Gear 2 comes out to 230ish before tax.

I take it you have to order three accessories to get the discount, but where are you seeing the discount, or is there a code to enter?
I don't see anything about this on their web page: https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/accessories/appcessories.html

It was automatic for me after adding 3 accessories, no code needed. I added 2 5 dollar accessories to the order.
thank you so much! I got it to go through and saved $100 with the accessories i selected. I wonder how long before ATT catches on!
I am interested in the black Gear 2 but it and the orange one are out of stock. Only the gold one shows to be available.
Works good I have the black already but the gold one was only thing available so bought one also. Might just sell it or return it. But I do not see the bands no where must be waiting on to see how many they sell to promote the color bands

But will there be any development?
I don't just want a watch, I WANT A TOY, lol.
And XDA is my hobby
It works ! Got my Gear 2 Neo yesterday and ordered Gear 2 for extra 25 bucks than the Neo.
They appear to have to in black, too

It did work for me to when I checked the cart. Gear 2 at $75 off would have been great, but I already ordered mine at $50 off when we ordered a S5 for my son. He is getting Galaxy Gear 1 that i have had since October. Love the original and have high hopes for development of new Gear 2.
SWEET!
just ordered mine, gold was the only one available, plus two 5 dollar wall chargers for a whopping 150.
Nice find and thanks for sharing!
Anyone got canceled ? They canceled my Gear 2 Gold Brown because they are unable to verify my information ????? I don't get it. Reordered and waiting
To kcttocs: did you mean $250? The savings on the Gear 2 at 25% is $75, so the lowest price of the watch itself would be $225. They seem to be honoring this; I never got an order confirmation but I did get a note saying the order is processing, and the online status shows the same. It looks like the gold brown watches are starting to become available; T-Mobile's site shows them available, though Samsung, AT&T, and Best Buy still show "coming soon" or a shipment date of a couple weeks out.

Thank you so much for this info! I went to bestbuy which is where I got my gear 2, and showed them a screenshot of a possible order from at&t showing the 25% off. They didn't even notice about the filler accessories and refunded me $77.65! Then when I left the store someone offered me $145.00 for my Galaxy Gear 1! That brings the cost of my new watch down to $92 which includes tax. Not bad for something released just this week! I am too happy! Thanks again!

Mine hasn't been cancelled (yet?). I ordered last night around midnight and got a message at 9:30am today saying my order had been processed. Ironically it says "your order cannot be changed or canceled at this time" - so we'll see what happens. If you're placing a lot of orders they may suspect fraud; if you search online there are a number of people complaining about AT&T order cancellations with no resolution. I suspect it's a security issue - possible reasons could include mistyping your credit card/billing details, having an IP address generated from a datacenter (if you're using a proxy), or credit card declined.
Thanks for the tip, might have to check it out!
Any idea when this deal will expire? Online chat says they should have more black Gear 2s in 5-7 days.

Same thing here, I called 611, they said something was input incorrectly and I needed to go to an AT&T store to validate who I am. What a croc! so I drive to the store, they don't have a clue and suggested I call in and then they will validate I am me, then they tell the store clerk to order it for me, the store clerk says they don't know anything about the discount and can't help me and advise me to go back online and do it again. Seriously why even drive to the store, total run around. The catch I think is because I am an employee, when I log into my account it takes me to the premier website and the discount is not there, but if I don't log in and order from AT&T the discount is there. Maybe I need to not give my phone# and e-mail that's on my account. If I get cancelled a second time that's going to be my method. I even used a different credit card just incase my card denied for some reason or another fraud alert or something.
And I originally said I ordered for 150, my mistake, it was about 250...

Did they charge your card? Mine has been cancelled 2 times. But first time I was logged in and I show balance due (its with collection dept) and second time i think they used my shipping address as my billing. Trying again.

Curious, I was forced to use my billing address for my shipping address when ordering and there was no other option because the online store said it was a security issue. Maybe this is what happened with the verification issues?
Set to receive mines today, it'll be here whenever the mail carrier drops it off. Will come back to update once officially received.
