Odd Dialer Behavior - Huawei P8max

I need some help fixing my dialer. Here is the problem, I have the Google Marshmallow Dialer set as the default dialer, so when I get ready to select contacts or dial, I use that app. When I press the call button, it switch makes the call using the Huawei dialer. Is this changeable?
I want to use the Google dialer like on my nexus 6. What am I missing here? Any help is appreciated!

Unable to check voice mail

Hi all,
I replaced the ATT rom with HTC. It's been working great so far. I've been using it for about a week now. I do have one issue and not sure how to correct it. When I receive a voice mail I get a notification and normally I hit the dial button so it connects to my voicemail. However, today someone left me a voice mail and I dismiss the notification. I can see the message/voicemail icon in the bar at the top of the screen. However, I cannot click the icon. When I go to the "Messaging" option either by clicking the button on the phone or selecting "Messaging" from the Start menu, it just have the options for SMS/MMS, Email Sample and New Email account. There's no option for voice mail.
Is there someway to check the voicemail? I know I can dial the voicemail number and have access to it but it seems voicemail should be an option under "Messaging".
Please advice. And thank you in advance.

So, after 1 week, you finally got a voice mail?
Kidding! Just poking fun!!!

I wish. I normally check right away when the notification is displayed.
Anyway, I ended up doing a soft reset and I was able to click on the Message icon in the menu bar.
Can't you just go to the phone dialer and hold down the 1 key? It should dial your voicemail for you. You can also go into settings/phone on the services tab you can select voice mail and text messages and see if the voicemail number is populated. I have never seen voice mail under messaging.

mcmex,
I just go to the dialpad. Totally forgot about that option. I thought there was an option under the messaging but I guess not. I'm good now.
Thanks.

Hi,
When I had the problem I did a soft reset on the phone and that seem to fix the problem. Now it works all the time. Give that a try.

it's not a dialer issue... the "dialer" always is to dual, it's not to switch the call interface.
for that, you should try Full Screen Caller ID
thanks dude

[Android 5.0+] Contacts vs Phone - setting shortcuts and switching between to two

Hi all, I only recently switched to Lollipop and I'm not quite sure how Contacts and Phone are meant to work together.
For example, if I try to make a shortcut to Phone using PIE or any similar app, it always sends me to Contacts instead. And then, once I'm in Contacts, there doesn't seem to be a way to open up the dialer keypad to directly punch in phone numbers to call. I don't know if I'm just missing something but it's rather inconvenient; I'd like to be able to access the dialer keypad from anywhere for quick calling instead of needing a shortcut on my homescreen or fumbling through my contacts or app drawer.
TIA!
Link the Phone app instead. You can access contacts from there anyway
That's the problem though - linking the Phone app often results in it automatically sending me to Contacts instead. It doesn't make any sense!

Default dialer doesnt show call history when incoming call

Im hoping there is a simple solution to my problem. When someone calls me i like to be able to see when the last time they called was, or any text messages they have sent me before i answer the call. All my previous samsung phones had this feature. Is there a way to turn on call history on incoming calls? Or is it possible to change the dialer?
I tried installing a 3rd party dialer from the app store but it still rang in with the stock one, did i miss something?
Thanks for your help

Yes, you simply missed that the Mate 9 does not support this feature.
Settings - Apps - Settings - Default app settings - Call
Go here to check whether your 3rd party dialer exists in the list.
