Hello, I flashed Andromeda 1.2 to my captivate and my phone turns off randomly, something like 2-3 times a day.
Not reboots but just turns off.
Is it a firmware problem?

Definitely not the rom/andromeda/"firmware" if that's what you're thinking. The only problem I have with Andromeda 1.2 is it makes my phone so usable that I actually use all the features of my phone. Oh wait.
In any case reboots and in your case shutdowns is known problem see press release above.
Write down your IMEI number before you call AT&T. Tell them you have one of the phones that shuts down on its own. Usually all they'll ask for is the IMEI and skip most of the troubleshooting. When your replacement comes, be sure and flash your old one back to stock before sending it back or else it's warranty void.
try switching kernels . my phone would do this with any of the ursa kernels
Hey everyone, is anyone else experiencing the phone not coming out of standby when pressing the power button?
I've experienced this 3 times now and overnight while left on the charger to use for my alarm clock, it didn't go off. I tried to press the power button, no go. I had to pull the battery out to get the phone going again. Good thing I still had my nexus one for the alarm.

This phone has been a pain in the arse. I have missed multiple emails because the thing randomly shuts off or locks in standby. I have had to pull the battery three times since yesterday.
Hope the magical devs get going on Gingerbread for our phone.
No reboots for me. I switched from NS because of the reboots and I needed a stable phone, but you may have faulty unit. If it's still giving you problems after a reset try to get a replacement. I'm getting insurance ASAP.

Where can i get insurance for this phone? Is it directly with T-Mobile?
I've had two non-responsive out-of-standby situations. The first one I was able to reboot, while the second I needed to pull the battery.
I've also had a single unrequested reboot this morning.
T-minus 29 days.
Insurance on these phones is only available at time of purchase.
No issues like that for me.. Things the ****....

No issues whatsoever for me either and I have had the phone since yesterday.
I've noticed it does it when it's on the charger. I've done a factory reset, uninstalled all apps except one to log the logcat and see how it does on and off the charger. I don't have a sim card in though, that and the apps are the only things I'm changing for this shut off test.
My first Android device! I had the same issue this morning. Just got the phone yesterday and had it on the charger overnight. It worked fine first thing in the morning but after a couple hours is shut off and wouldn't come back on. I had to pull the battery to get it up again.
I had this problem myself. Called LG and they said they haven't experienced this problem nor received any calls about it (bull****) . So I returned.the.phone for a new one and haven't had that problem since.
I had random reboots and my screen wouldn't come out of stand by. Usually happened after I didn't use the phone for 10 minutes or more.

The second occasion when mine didn't resume from standby is when I think I left Google Earth running. It's possibly a GPS-related issue, or something of that nature.
It's been nearly 24 hours since then, and one random reboot, but it's been solid otherwise.
forum over at T-Mobile is also tracking this issue.

I've fixed my issue by doing a factory reset and setting wifi calling to cell preferred. Seems like some issues with the phone software wise from all your answers

I encountered lockup once, but I don't encounter random shutdown/reboot yet.

Kampf you are wrong about that i am a RSA and you can get insurance up to 14days after buying the hone. I plan on putting the Lifetime warranty on the phone no need for the insurance as well.
I only have the issue when charging via wall. I rooted my device and used titanium backup to freeze a lot of junk that's constantly running including the wifi calling.
I also had the issue of the phone not coming out of standby after being hooked up to the wall charger overnight. It required a battery pull. Wifi Calling was turned on, like others mentioned they had.
I'm having the random lockups and the random reboots. This morning alone within an hour I had to pull the battery 4 times to get the phone to come back on. I've had it happen on charger and off charger. The odd thing is it never happens while the phone is in use, only when it goes into standby.
I've been having the same issues on standby too. The weird thing is that most of my reboots happen when have my phone in my pocket or when the lights go off after going into standby. It could be purely coincidental though.
my nexus 5 d820 16 gigs would randomly shutdown for no reason, it wouldn't turn on without plugging it in. i was rooted and running cm11, then i tried carbon ROM, then c-ROM. c-ROM started to give me problems so i factory reset and switched to carbon but the problems remained. then i unrooted, thinking that root was the problem but no signs of improvement, so i re-locked the bootloader but still the problem remained. it would sometimes also shut down if i unplug it and would always forget my WiFi connection for some reason. help me please. thanks in advance.
Well sounds like a hardware problem since you already unroofed and relocked boot loader I would say call lg and get a warranty replacement

Sorry to bring this post back after a long time.
I had a similar but not exactly the same problem.
2 nights ago I left the phone on the table, and a few minutes later, when I picked it up, it was off (It had about 60% battery left when I put it down).
Then it would not wake up; I kept the power button pressed for like 20 seconds to force a shutdown, and then tried to power up with no luck, so I'm thinking I'm screwed.
I tried again and it powered up to a graphical noise screen as seen in the attached image, but then it showed the boot animation and came back to life.
This morning it shut off by itself while listening to music (Google play), but powered back on right away...
Rooted 4.4.4, stock ROM, Xposed with Greenify, Amplify and wakelock detector (all latest versions). But no changes for a couple weeks before this started happening.
No specific app running (at least in the foreground).
Any one knows where I can find any kind of log or trace about this, if any at all?
Has anyone experienced this as well?
Thanks
My phone is randomly rebooting while charging. It usually happens about 5 seconds after I plug it in into the car, wall, or external battery. However, it's not constant. Sometimes it happens while the screen is off and other times it happens when the screen is on. If the phone doesn't reboot, it's usually fine for several plus hours of charging. BUT it has randomly rebooted about four or five times after an hour in of constant charging.
I thought this would be a hardware issue, but I have read online in other locations this is could be a software issue. Any suggestions on how to correct this? I would prefer to stay on my version of android for higher performance with my mobile game. This phone was not or is definitely not a beast in the way of hardware.
Phone purchased at the end of 2016. [Warranty has already expired.]
Charging Reboots occurred at the beginning of 2018?
Never replaced the battery
Battery line is horrible right now
EMUI 4.1

Android 6.0 STOCK
Update: Two days later with a factory reset phone and surprisingly the reboots have stop completely. I think I have charged the phone about five to six times and a not a single reboot. I never considered this could be a software issue, but I will continue to test the device and see if it occurs again. I will probably purchase a new battery tonight or tomorrow, and see if that changes the outcome. After factory reset, I am still on EMUI 4.1: FRD-L04C567B162 with Android 6.0 STOCK.

You might want to update to emui 5.0.1 buddy. Go to system update in settings and update your phone right away. It will fix the problem. If it still persists, change your battery.

Can I update emui to 5.1 without updating android? I really want to stay on Marshmallow.

Unfortunately you can't mate. Honor 8 won't get 5.1. But trust me, 5.0.x is far better and optimised than 4.1. It's even better on the battery.
Hi All,
My phone was absolutely fine prior to the install of EMUI 10, now ever since it boot loops a few times a day (more noticeably when its lower on battery but it's even happened seconds into using it in the morning).
I haven't downloaded any new apps since EMUI 9 and those I did I uninstalled to see if it made a difference, nope.
Had the phone since launch back in March 2018, any recommendations or is it a case of sending it to a service centre to have a look?
I've factory reset, restarted the phone, left it off overnight numerous times and nothing has solved it
V10 reboot
Hello,
I have the same issue, reboot 2 to 10 times by day!
Do you find a solution ?
Thx
+1
I have the same issue...my phone also reboots every now and then..i think that my system UI is crashing.
Anyone able to overcome this issue? Mine used to reboot several times a day too. Though sometimes, it worked absolutely fine for days. It has started to lag terribly after the EMUI 10 update. Of late it justs conks off, and doesn't turn back on no matter what I try. Have to leave it to itself for several hours, even a day or two and it comes back to life on it's own. Scary. The phone just dies. Called Huawei/Honor customer care, and they advised me to downgrade using HiSuite, which is obviously not possible anymore since it was disabled from EMUI 10.
Hello, I have the same problem, has anyone solved it? What can I do to get rid of this problem? Please help me.
I had the same problem on September 2020. I updated the security patch and the day after the phone rebooted randomly. It reboot and it became hot and make a bootloop because it was too hot.
I took it on Huawei Custom Care two times: they tested the hardware and they sad it was all ok. But the phone continued to reboot and crashes. I did some factory reset but nothing changed.
Now I read in this thread that It's a common mistake. So I think it's could be planned obsolescence by Huawei or a corrupted update. I bought another phone, but I can try to downgrade the View 10 to EMUI 9 to check if it is as I think.
Same issue here. However I was on Android 10 since a long time (since beta) and I didn't experience any issues until few days ago. The last update I received was at least months ago.
I suspect this is just normal battery wear. It just can't keep with the power needed from time to time.
This is the reason why iPhones are slowing down via software when battery gets old.
