Can anyone confirm question regarding unlocking Gear S3 - Samsung Gear S3

Hi eveyone,
Can anyone confirm if the Gear S3 can indeed be unlocked and if so can it be used on other carriers? I think as long as the carrier supports e-sims it shouldn't be a problem but i've been reading conflicting info like this: https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/143724#631813
Any info would be appreciated.

Since Gear S3 release, no one managed to use it on other carriers. Even if you get an unlock code, other carriers are yet unable to insert the e-sim code into their line.
So the answer is no.
Regards

As I know now,
all of Korean and USA version ARE carrier locked,
And Only Singapore version is carrier FREE.(I'm not sure, the next week when I receive the sm-r765f coming from Singapore, I can report if it's )
AND slapshot2286 unlocked his at&t version Using the code from at&T.

But register other provider' profile to built-in esim, you need a QR code(maybe it's an URL of server where contain the profile for download? Not the contents of profile? Anyone know about this plz reply me, many thanks) to scan! Lol providerS at Tokyo doesn't supply QR-Code to scan NOW.
One more important thing, you must confirm the BANDS(3G/LTE) of gear s3 is compatible with the carrier which you want to use.
See wiki:

In the UK, I have a S3 Frontier, and I have used it on Vodafone, EE and 3, just by running the usual pairing and setup (as if it were new). It appears I can use it with whatever network the phone is on. So far I have done it with 3 phones, on 3 different networks, and it works fine.

Samsung Gear SM-RF760 and Samsung Gear Pay - Issues

So, due to no Gear S3 being available in Australia for some time, I ordered the SM-RF760 Model from www.eglobaldigital.com.au
I have the s7 Edge Aussie Variant. Just found out that Samsung Pay is no available on the SM-RF760 and been advised by Samsung that it will only become available and has to be activated in the country i bought the watch from!!! Can you believe it? Maybe one day I can side load a version, of if someone can help, please please do
Michael
Sorry but you can't side load it. The only way to get it on the watch is to load the csc file from Australia. I am in the same boat in Canada. Have it in Gear Manager but it won't go on the watch until Canada updates the CSC file.

Thanks Swordfish

I only have it in Gear Manager because I use a US phone with US firmware in Canada. Should have bought the watch in US too!

Mine in Canada is OXA, can someone from US tell me what version you have? I believe this is what prevents us from installing SP on our watches.

I ask now on another forum and wait answer.
Man buy R760 from USA, now version APK7.
Pnone not Samsung. Adding russian card without problem.
SP working via NFC and MST.
Sorry for my bad english.
APK7 is the firmware version but I need to know what CSC version the Americans have. Using the procedure above, you can check and see what version you have. It won't hurt your watch to just check the version number.
Swordfish
My guess is my model number is the American version SM-R760
CSC: R760OXA1APK6 SM-R760
We have PK7 as the firmware but my thinking must be incorrect. It seems we all have OXA as the CSC value so now I'm puzzled as to how the watch knows not to install SP on my watch??
Swordfish
THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING AND SAMSUNG ARE HOPELESS, THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE COUNTRY I PURCHASED, HONG KONG?? Is SM-R760 the USA version then?

I think, need another activation SP.
May be enabling in special menu, before buy.
May be first pairing and activation in country non USA.
May be first pairing and activation with non USA Samsung phone firmware.
I dont know....
gah samsung pay not available on my HK version of the watch. Gah is there any update on this (flashing firmware etc) to get samsung pay to work in my home country (australia)?
This is frustrating
It's the watch, nothing you do on your phone will bypass it. I'm in Canada, didn't even have the SP option in my gear app and then I sold my Canadian one and got a USA one and it installed itself on my Canadian S7 Edge (unrooted/unmodded). SP works even though we don't officially have SP in Canada (only pre-release for one bank)

Did you ever manage to get the LTE version working in the UK? Would also be interested to know where you got it from as I can't find an LTE for sale anywhere.
Connection the European SIM

I am interested in that too because i am struggeling with the same issue. The watch I have is an unlocked Korean version with a Tk telecom branding.
Maybe there is a complete neutral firmware for the LTE, that allows the connections of an ESIM via Gear App, as it was allowed with the Gear S2?
GrandMasterPlank. Not really tried yet, to get it working. Got it off Ebay, the same as Pixmixa the Tk telecom branded one. Think it will work has the same radio's as the Gear S2, that O2 were selling for a short time last year. But do not know if any mobile network will connect it, and how helpful they would be. Got this one because it has the possibility to connect to the mobile phone network, not sure if it ever will. But a least it can make an emergency call if i need to, not tried but said I can.
UK networks don't support esims at the moment so I doubt you'll get it to work

Vodafone Germany still offers the previous S2 and shows how the activtion process works. Here you can see:
vodafone.de/hilfe/samsung/gear-s2.html#so-aktivieren-sie-das-esim-profil-fuer-die-samsung-gear-s2-classic-3g-smartwatch
(Please fullfilll the beginning of the URL, I am not allowed to post Links.)
Unfortunately, the app does not offer the menu for the S3 But its at least just a software issue, isnt it?
Pixmixa I have seen the same video, somewhere online, in english. Here is my best guess what appends the Usim/esim need to be registered on the mobile network. When you turn the S3 on it looks for a uk ICCID which is listed under Gear info/About device the first bit 898205 is for the country eg it is set for Korea. This need to be changed, which might be possible as the is a small slot at the bottom of the watch. Looks like a micro usb connection, which i have read on XDA developer is used to reprogram the esim. esims must work in the UK because the Gear S2 was being sold by O2, and i spoke to someone at O2, who phoned someone he worked with who a bought the (o2.co.uk/shop/smartwatches/samsung/gear-s2-classic-3g/). Got a QR code with it and was using it to make and receive calls.

Thank you, that is very interesting information. And you are right, there is a small docking port hidden under a plastic cap close to the wrist at the S3 too. Do you have any further information concering the reprogramming process? Maybe the process for S2 and S3 ist the same and someone who can do it for S2 can do it fo the S3 as well.
Is the docking port a micro usb connection? Not taken the plug out on mine. I was hope some Xda expert would know how to reprogram the esim.

No it is not. The watchside looks like something special. See this thread:

Does remind me of my connection on the gear S. Which if I remember correctly you can connect via USB to your computer.

Where are Firmwares R735XXU1APB5, R735XXU1APF3 from?

Which carrier could that firmware be from?
R735XXU1APB5
R735XXU1APF3
I found both here:
http://dl.pars-hamrah.com/index.php...Files/R Series/R735 - Galaxy Gear S2 Firmware
The firmware appears to be a Russia version, which narrows down to one of 5 carriers.

I hoped to have found a carrierfree version. But if it is one of these, i did not
The firmware isn't a universal one, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's carrier locked.
I know my replies can be long, but would rather give too much info, than not enough.
I am actually searching for a version, that offers the esim scan option like the german vodafone one. And then i would like to check if the esim scan changes the provider presettings concering the right esmim profile as well. Or I could found the vodafone firmware but i had no sucess yet.
Actually any version that allows the qr scan of esims would be enought in order to check if it allows carrier changing as well by changing the the esim profile. Or I would have to find my the german vodafone firmware, but I did not have sucess yet.

Galaxy S7 G930F on AT&T - Advice?

I've seen a variety of conflicting reports online so I wanted to get some more expert opinions from XDA:
If I buy an international Galaxy S7 (specifically, the G930F):
(1) I'm in the US. Will I be able to use that on AT&T's LTE network? I know some bands are supposedly different but I've heard that's really only a problem for T-Mobile's LTE.
(2) Does Samsung Pay work out of the box? If not, is there a way to easily make it work while still being able to take software updates?
EDIT: Looks like people have got it working by flashing Australia, Germany, or UAE CSCs and then sideloading Samsung Pay. Which leads to another question…
(3) What disadvantages are there to being on a different CSC than your actual country? Will it be a problem downloading apps, regionally restricted videos, etc? And will Samsung Pay break after phone software updates?
Answers to these would be appreciated!

December 2017...
I have none of these LTE devices in my hand...
I am from Germany...
1.
SM-R765N
I can not remember to see somewhere User with device...
No idea if not popular in New Zealand
2.
SM-R765F for Singapore... :crying:
This is the only user I know from Europe... his experiences:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/help/sm-r765f-teardown-t3659431
3.
Experiments with LTE devices seems much MUCH harder...
No Firmware
No Warranty if something happens
4.
I can NOT remember about en masse lucky eSIM "changer" in Gear S3 LTE world...
Example SM-R765A... correct me if I am wrong... but nobody can move to T-Mobile...
SM-R765T or Verizon... SM-R765V
So why N and F Version?
No idea if you like adventures for 300 $...
5.
I have forgotten...
Article is from December... BEFORE these devices updated to Tizen 3...
Maybe this Trick is obsolete...
Best Regards
thanks your kindly reply very much, Mr. agree.
I had taken much time on eBay, to find what's the meaning of the seller's description "factory unlocked". Finally I got I need a "Carrier Unloced" Gear S3 Frontier LTE to DL international esim profile, but most of seller's "factory unlocked" is dishonest and their devices equal "Carrier LOCKED".
Bcz different BANDS of tele-providers,
Unfortunately, sm-r765A(at&t) and sm-r765T(T-Mobile) can't using docomo, and I am happy to find out sm-r765F has same BAND and can download other provider's profile, yesterday.
I readed the blog again, it's sounds that DOCOMO of esim is supported by a foreign G&D company. Maybe this means their profile is common and can be use for other device they don't support bcz not on sale. (ONLY wifi version by docomo)
Thanks( ̄□ ̄!!
For SM-R765F Combination FT30 Firmware exists...
Maybe if somebody need for research...
OWN RISK!
Best Regards
Only as info... check these 2 Videos... attached.
Command sent via SDB Tool is:
Code:
launch_app csc-manager.csc-sim-test
Result looks like this:
Code:
sh-3.2$ launch_app csc-manager.csc-sim-test
... successfully launched
But I have no idea how usefull these infos are...
Maybe we can compare with infos from SM-R765F and maybe SM-R765S...
Best Regards
i have a SM-R765a and have a qr code for my new esim setup however not able to find any way to set it up on my watch can someone help me please ?
