[Q] Android system vs android os?

Just wondering what the difference is between the android system and android os in the battery usage monitor. I am currently on Infused 2.0.4 with the infusion kernel. Also, I am using juicedefender. I am mostly wondering because battery life has not been that great. When I first flashed Infused 2.0.0 battery life was really good. Also, what is the difference between CPU usage, CPU foreground, and stay awake? I see all of those under both android system and android os as well as a couple other apps and those numbers seem kind of high sometimes. Also, yes I did pull my battery a couple of times since flashing 2.0.4 once for just like 5 min, and again for around 30min. No noticeable change on battery life. Sorry if these are dumb questions, I tried to find out what they all meant, but I didnt find to much information on them. Thanks.

[Q] SetCPU and Battery Life

So I recently downloaded SetCPU for my HTC Vivid and I was playing around with it. I was wondering what you guys think about using it for battery savings? Any specific profiles you guys use that work great? I'm trying to prolong the battery life of my device. Flashing a new ROM has helped a lot, but I want to squeeze as much as I can out of it. Is SetCPU really worth using for battery savings or will the extra processing it does to change around the speed cause it to not help me that much?

Ways to increase battery life?

My wife uses a rooted Bolt running Virus' Eternity ROM with Sense 3.5. I'm open to trying new ROMs and other less drastic measures as well. I've thought about switching to an AOSP ROM that might free up more memory. I personally use Liquid Smooth and have been trying tweaks to see if my battery life improves before trying to change hers. She uses the FM Radio a lot at work which is the primary culprit of her battery consumption. It's generally fully dead after 6 hours. What options do I have that might increase that life a little longer?
You may wanna take a look at THIS THREAD
Thank you much. I'm not sure how I've missed that thread as I've spent a good bit of time on those forums as well looking at different tweaks.

[Q] rom vs kernel in battery life

This is a rather simple question do different roms really have better battery life then others or is it more of the choice of kernel? Do roms effect battery life as much as the choice of kernel? I currently have vipers Rom and just maxed out at 3:20 of screen on time with stock battery with underclocked and undervolted Sebastian kernel and want to no if switching to elegancia Rom would really make a difference in battery at all
Thanks

Hi,
Battery usage is a very subjective matter.
Everyone uses their phones differently,so , judging battery life between people is hard.
Yes , some ROMS are better than others.
Yes, some kernels are better than others.
It is the combination of the right ROM and kernel for you that is going to matter.
And no one can tell you what that is.
Experiment for a couple of days to see how they work.
READ what other people are saying about them in the threads.
OR,
Get a couple of spare batteries, and carry them around with you,and then , power is never a problem.

(Q) GB vs ICS vs JellyBean vs KK

My question, who of these android versions are battery stable and performance?
I tested all(except ics) but i'm not sure if i did something bad, idk
GB:Laggy, (4000 antutu score), but battery life its really really high
ICS: Not tested
4.1.2: I think its very fast, really fast(4400-4900 antutu score), but my battery drains like 1% every 5-10 mins without doing anything
4.2.2: Heavier than CM10, its a little bit laggy more than cm10(4200-4500 antutu), but the same thing with battery life
4.3: I really dont like this, for me its laggy, and rip battery life (3800-4000 antutu)
KK4.4:Well 4.4 its like very new, and idk if its gonna be good for SL, i feel KK laggy,(i mean, if u install multiple apps, its like very slow, in comparation with the others android version), but battery life isnt bad, but not good(4200 antutu score)
Idk if i did something bad, but, u have less battery use in cm10-cm10.1? i tried like everything and my battery is like new (1 week), and drops very fast
a lot of the battry drain its for the screen(idk why, i can have all the brightness low and its the same thing), and media service (idk how to stop that really)
Greetings, i hope someone knows a good cm10+ rom with good battery life
i think X-gamerz ROM is the one try it if you are looking for performence and battry life
go for cm11 and then ehndroix v ....best results
for good battery....use it it 3-4 battery cycles and also calibrate the battery regularly.!!
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
Go for qwerty.

The current CM11 offers excellent battery life.. It's what you run in your device that's making it bad. Instead of blaming the ROM, take a really close look at the user apps installed instead. The user is usually the main contributor for bad battery life.
