Hello. Long story short. I was using my phone when my phone started to freeze and i decided to restart it to 'unfreeze' it. I switched it off and that's it. All black. Dead. No safe mode, no recovery mode, no sign of life when charging. It has been over 12h now. Is it the motherboard? Is there any chance to save my data(photos, videos, contacts) with some app or program?
By the way I plugged it in the laptop yesterday - nothing. I tried now and the battery icon appeared. It looks like it is charging. It is very weeeeeeeeird.
Get it charged for 12h minimum. Then try to turn it on. If you succeed, download everything you can before doing anything. After that you can try flashing new software to see if that will help. If not, it's more than likely hardware issue.
I have already turned it on. Weird it wasn't charging with the charger, while it is ok with the usb in the laptop. It is charging slowly.
Do you reckon it might be a hardware problem?

Hmm. I don't think so because when my phone turned off was at 80+% then after half a day of trying to turn it on...it started from 2%. Very weird. Which are the most common bugs in s7 ?

Maybe your battery has come to the end of it's life, when Li-Ion batteries drain to 0% sometimes they won't charge again, or take a long time to start charging
80% > 2% sounds like a bad battery

I never had problems with the battery tho. Very very pleased with it's performance. I will message if there is any change. Still charging in the laptop hence it charges slow.
I never let it drain completely, this could be a problem I guess :silly:

Batteries can fail like this, working fine then suddenly dead
Hopefully just a glitch, good luck
Well, it worked for a day - managed to backup my data I think. I have another problem now it looks like i have no andoid on the phone. It gives me this error:
No support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API : 3
And then it fails to find any files. I have downloaded Odin. Does anyone know where I can find stock firmware - UNLOCKED

I don't think it's locked by carrier. More important question is, where did you buy the phone.
I got it from someone from facebook in England. So I believe it was bought in England, if that is what you are asking, mate.
Uuu, ok. Did this person give you any paperwork for it? Receipt? No?
just the box and the stuff inside (warranty card and manuals)
So it's should be either BTU or XEU.
downloaded the BTU files, tried 2 versions of Odin and it fails 1 second after i start it. I get a message on my phone:

I left it for repair. Can't be arsed with this crap phone Is it possible that the repair man could browse in gmail or stuff like this ?
I had this exact same thing happen to my S7 a few days ago. Shortly after I got a small OTA update. Phone froze at like 70% battery, held power for almost 30 seconds before it turned off, now it's just black. no vibration, no LED, nothing... I did notice that if I plug it in to my windows pc, and press the power button, I will hear the "USB connect" sound in windows and it will appear in Device manager as "Exynos 8890" and then immediately disappear when I release the power button. Very strange. It's been like this now for about a week.

Hi, so i say batteries because i already tried 3 different ones. My problem started in gingerbread when i could not charge pass 50~60%, won't even matter how much time i have it "charging", then i rooted and install the AT&T release of ICS 4.0.4, then some days later it started to won't charge pass 1% and sometimes lowers to 0% and if i disconnect turns off, and connected never charges. I have tried with different chargers also, i have tried every forum "solution", factory resetting, procedure and no luck. If i go into CWM and delete batterystats or to do anything, the phone doesn't turn off, that's weird also. I bought an external charger and charged the three batteries to full, and when i put it in the phone, android still says 1% or 0% and turns off if i disconnect.
So anybody who can help me with this, i would extremely grateful. Thanks

Hi, yes i have bbs installed and i dont see any weird wakelocks, right now is just audio, which i read is normal. Today i get a 4th new charger and cable OEM Samsung to try, but honestly i dont think it will help.
The thing that confuses me the most, is that i charged every battery I've tried in an external charger, so the battery IS actually full, but when i put it in the phone, android still says 1% or even 0%. :crying:

Charge the battery in another phone or device, if you can. That would be the only option.
To be honest it sounds like something you may have installed or run on your phone, you said it started only a few days after upgrading to ICS which I'm guessing is how long it took you to finish restoring everything from GB.
My advice is to do a complete reset to the phone using kies, let it run for a few days with the minimal stuff you need and then start adding few apps at a time and wait to see if everything runs ok.

He can't do anything to it, no battery life, it will get stuck at flash or reset (kies) and brick.
The charger doe not charge, so he can;t even do it with the usb plugged. If he had power there are lot's of thing to test, ODIN or flash.

I'm out of warranty time now.
He said he already used an external charger and it didn't help, unless all 3 of his batteries are trash it's an issue with the phone.
He also said as long as his phone stays connected it runs fine so using kies should work I guess.
If nothing works I'd say it's some type of hardware issue and that means he will have to pay for a repair or he will have to upgrade.

Just take it to a small shop that unlocks or fixes phones, something small but nice looking, with bunch of phones for sale. Not Bestbuy or something)
They would usually ship the phone to a factory for fixing, that means they ship it to Samsung facility where some dude does work on the side.
I had my main board replaced to OEM for $190 where Rogers doing same would have charged me $420.
Your problem should not cost much, but you can;t put price on how relived you would be once it's fixed)

Hi, just to make an update, i did uninstall some stuff with root uninstaller, now the battery charges!! BUT to about 15~17%, then starts to discharge itself even connected to a charger. :crying:
So I suggest to do what I said before, start from fresh and install slowly, something must have screwed with your rom.

Would you recommend to install the stock release of ICS 4.0.4 or a custom rom? if so which is the best ?Im considering using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763195. Thank you
OK, so i installed this custom rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763195, the battery charges to about 19%, then starts discharging itself being connected to the charger. This is driving me crazy, i have tried so may things and nothing, been a few weeks without using the phone normally. :crying:
First go fresh stock using kies to see if the issue still persists, if it does it's probably a hardware issue. If you know someone that has a device with a battery thats works fine and it fits your device ask him to try it out so you can be certain it's your device and not all of your batteries.

Ok, i did all that i could, reinstalling stock GB 2.3.5, same problem. So im pretty sure it is a hardware issue, or possibly the 3 batteries i have are trash. I will see some place in san antonio texas, that can fix it. Thanks for the help everyone. Sadly this stuff happens, but what can you do.
PS. If someone sees this and thinks that can fix my problem ill gladly discuss payment for your work. Pm me. Thanks.
Hello guys.
I installed Slim Bean 4.1.1 version(3.0.31 Semaphore) few months ago(from this THREAD) on my Galaxy S I9000, and everything worked really well, until last week.
First problem- my speakerphone started to automaticly turn on on every phone call, and my screen sometimes used to rotate randomly after I turn display on. I couldn't fix this, but I think somehow my phone turned on the dock mode, but I didn't know how to switch it off. I also couldn't connect my phone with computer, when I connected it, it just charged battery. And this lasted about for a week, until today. Today everything came back to normal, speakerphone wasn't activated on calls, and I think screen stopped rotating when screen was off, but when I wanted to charge my batter, the phone didn't show any signs of charging, like I didn't put charger in. I'm left with 4% of the battery, I tried to charge it through pc cable, but It didn't work either.
So, is there a solution, can anyone help me?
I forgot to mention, I never updated Slimbean, it's still on 4.1.1. version.
Thank you in advance, and sorry for my bad english.
Could be a bad battery. Try using the phone on A/C power, with no battery installed, & see if you get the same weird behavior.

You mean connected to charger, without battery at all?
It won't turn on like that at all. I never knew that was even possible tbf.
Maybe some devices won't, but AFAIK, most devices should power on & be functional, which doesn't help diagnose your problem.
Now it's working, I fixed it somehow, I pulled battery out couple of times, and did couple of restarts, so it's finally charging. And now it's back to old problems where my speakerphone turns on automaticaly on every phone call.
I get the feeling that the problem's gonna come back. 1st priority should be to charge the battery fully.
I did that last night. What's next?
I'm guessing it's either a bad motherboard, or a bad battery. Be prepared for the worst.

Battery is working well(at the moment), so I don't see how could damaged baterry affect software problems such as automaticaly turning on the speakerphone, and not being able to connect phone with PC.
You'd be surprised what abnormal voltage levels can do to electronic devices.

Now, I have other problem.. I wanted to install Slim Bean 2.7, but when I enter recovery mode, do full wipe, installation aborts around 26% saying, "E: Error in /sdcard/Slim-i9000-2.7.0-OFFICIAL.zip (status 0) ", and above "installation aborted".
You sure that ROM was intended for your device? Sounds like the difference between update-script and updater-script. Different devices use different methods to flash ROMs.

Try downloading a third party app die batteries like battery doctor and see what it tells you.

There is already a thread for this, and a suspected cause:
It's not a calibration issue, but sensor configuration or fpga. In my opinion it can be corrected from software, but a simple rom change won't help unless they focus on correcting this issue.

Do this only once:
Download StabilityTest (ROOT optional) turn one wifi, gps, bluetooth. Run the program and start the "Classic stability test" leave the phone till it turns off. Then "power"+"vol-" run recovery mode and leave the phone it will turn of after a wail-make this step f times till it won't work and only the led will blink. You have now maximal drained out battery. Now plug the charger and make it 100% then start the hone enjoy-I hope it will help you.

should i replace the phone? theres any other thread about this problem?

Happened to me: I charged the phone to 85% using a laptop USB then took the phone out to use it, when I came back 30 minutes later I plugged back in to continue charging it dropped to 1% instantly then powered itself off as battery was nearly flat. Reboot phone then plug into laptop and starts charging from 1%.
10 mins later it's about 8% charged and I take phone to car, charge it using a Motorola car USB charger and the phone battery goes back to about 85% instantly.
It seemed to me that using a PC usb socket to charge the phone caused the issues rather than using a 'proper' charger. Maybe others can confirm whether they've had the issue only if using a PC usb port to charge it up?
Mine is UK tesco 8GB Moto G running Kitkat official firmware, not rooted, bl locked and not been flashed other than official software.
Hi All,
I'm facing a weird issue with my phone from more than 2 months and it has reached a frustrated level now. It used to shut off at levels like 15%, sometimes between 15-25%. But nowadays, it shuts down automatically at 40-60% and that is really unreliable. So, i wanted to check if there are other people facing the same issue or is it only my device. Please share your views, any possible solutions, possible reasons, and if applicable, similar experiences.

thanks so much, bought it after my nexus4 died which im still sad about because its one of my 1st real android phones after having a contract android phone.
As an update, i kept my phone on charge for straight 4-5 hours. and now it shuts down after 20-25%. Definitely an improvement. But still it's a mystery why does it show this bug in the first place.
Umm, how has no one mentioned maybe trying battery calibration!? Seems like a fairly obvious first step here to take before swapping out for a new battery.. Plug the phone in and let it charge entirely. Even at 100% in Settings > Battery it will still show "100% - Charging on AC" (or USB whatever you've got connected)
You need to wait for that to turn into "100% - Charged." Then, calibrate using any battery calibration app from the playstore, ( I use this one )
After it charges to 100% - Charged, hit "calibrate" in the app, disconnect the charger, and let it drain entirely. You might find it dying out before 0% once again, but this hopefully should have been the last time. Plug the phone in and switch it on as soon as you can while it starts to charge. Let it charge uninterruptedly to 100% - Charged, again.
Not saying this might solve it 100% but it is an option to try.

Well already tried and i may sound a bit silly, but studies have proved that battery calibration is a myth. Android automatically cleans the batterystats.bin file after every single full charge. Rest assured, i have already done that with no avail.

Hello Guys,
I have a situation with my moms S7 (G930F), she told me it wasn't charging. On the screen i saw a battery icon with a red message "Custom binary locked by FPR". So i googled a bit and found a solution that a stock FW must be flashed.
Found a suitable FW (Israel) loaded into Odin and started to flash , but after few minutes it wrote "failed" for some reason. Gosh i don't know why , but possible i was touching the phone and USB was disconnected, not sure.
Well, i thought i do it again but the phone did not turn on or show any signs of life since. Can't enter recovery/download mode the screen is black, it' looks like won't charge as it doesn't get even slightly warm after few hrs of charging. Tried the USB JIG way a 300KOhm resistor between GNG<->ID pins, nothing.
So i think the FW was corrupted , but for sure samsung would leave a way to reflash it.
Can you help me guys, how can i fix it ?
EDIT: Ohh, noticed that the phone DO gets warm if connected to a computer via USB.
Thanks !

Ok so it needs to be charged first off without that you can't do anything. It's not unusual for it to charge via usb and not via the charger, it's just a case of trying a different charger and cable etc.
The soloution is to flash firmware as you have found out but it must be the correct firmware for the device and version. You cannot flash a firmware which is older than the firmware which is already on the device, you must check this.
You must also use Odin version 13 not 14. Version 14 has been casuing problems on older Samsungs like the S7.
Once charged you should always be able to boot into download if nothing else. If Odin fails read what the error says and post or at what point in the flashing process does it fail. We can then work out whats wrong.
Thanks for the reply , but how do i charge it ? When its connected to a computer it gets warm but does not charge obviously, because when i unplug it, it stays dead. Tried three different chargers none is charging, two cables as well.
