Battery still draining fast after Tizen 3.0.0.1 - Samsung Gear S3

So I bought my gear s3 two days ago, and it was on Tizen 3.0, with the battery draining from 100% to around 15% in 14 hours of moderate use. Last night, I updated to Tizen 3.0.0.1, which claimed to improve battery usage, but today, just a mere 2 hours into the day with almost no usage and I am left with 89%! Is this normal? Based on this use, I would have to charge my gear every single night to be able to make it through the next day. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
(According to my gear app I should have 2 days of battery life, but it ends up barely lasting me through the day.)

Yes, unfortunately that is what I get too!
If I turn AOD off, it'll only use 25% per day!
But when I was on 2.3 it lasted that long with AOD on!

My experience as well. Not only is the battery usage is much higher, but the screen respond is horrible since the update. I can live with it, but I don't like it.

Kit Kat killed my battery

anyone else having terrible battery life since the 4.4.2 update?
I can't believe how fast my battery drains now with average use. I used to get through the day and would usually be at about 70% left when I plug in at midnight. It's 4pm now and I'm already at 52%.
I've really noticed over the last 4 or 5 days after doing the OTA update on the 22nd.
I am connected to wifi all day, bluetooth is on, gps off. reallly only used for a few short phone calls, some texting and bluetooth streaming on my commute. This is the same usage and settings as was before the update with excellent battery life.
Looked around but couldn't see anything about this... am I alone here.
thanks!
I'm also noticing what I think is bad battery life. But I just got the phone and updated to KitKat before I even played around so I have nothing to compare to.
But I'm getting close to what appears to 12 hours on moderate use. This is my first full day with the phone so I'll know more in a couple days.

Has anybody found a solution for this battery drain? Im at 59% with 2hrs sot . My nexus 4 battery is better than this.

So far my average is around 2.5 hrs screen time at the 50% mark.
Today it was at 3 hrs screen time at 50% (14 hours total). This is my first day being rooted also. I've only had the phone for 8 days now however, not sure if it's normal or not. Coming from my gs4 it's a ton better!

This is my second g2 the first one was on 4.2.2 and i remember that gave me almost 8 hrs sot on same settings

Yup same here. I fixed my deep sleep issue with root, and greenify virtually everything, but screen on kills my battery pretty fast. Getting about what you guys are as well.

Apparently there is a new update that is available to international users that fixed the issues reported. Bluetooth always running, knock code, and decreased battery

Gear S2 3g Battery Life

Hi all. Haven't seen any active battery life threads.
Curious what everyone is getting because I'm thinking my drain might be a bit worse than others are getting.
I'm on the AT&T variant. Off the charger for 13 hours today and at only 42%. I've really only used it to check notifications and that's it. So I'm averaging about 4-5% drain per hour. Is this normal?
Any tips for achieving better battery life?

-Are you using an always on Clockface? That affects battery alot. I have to charge every night. I am usually down to 20 or 30% at Night. That is with me playing with clock faces to try and find one I like and using the always on Faces.

Yeah I am and figured that would be the first question for me. Unfortunately that's one thing I can't live without...or at least don't want to.

-I still get all day battery. I get up around 6 am and put it on the charger at night around 10 and still have 20 to 30% so it isn't getting 2 or 3 days but I don't wear a watch at night anyway so it works for me.
Same here
I am also around 20-30% after a full day use, that is if I am only on bluetooth ... I think it is the qualcomm chip vs. the samsung one? My experience is definitely far away from the 3 days claim. C'est la vie, I love the watch!
used to last only 1 day, by the time i get home from work at 8pm it had 10~15% left. After the latest software update now I have 75~80% by the end of the day, it even last through out the next day so i only needed to charger it on the 3rd day, HUGE battery improvement. Whatever verizon or samsung did on the new patch it is awesome, I always have all connections enable (bluetooth, wifi, NFC, location, mobile, etc)
Is yours the 3g version?
Also is it AT&T and what is your software version?

Update causes battery drain

why...;;
It hasn't affected my watch. I still get about 3 days to a charge.

Mine also. I used to get 2 days with always on and now it lasts less than one day. Started this morning at 100% around 7 am and its 6pm with about 10% battery. Any ideas? No additional apps were added. Also updated Samsung pay about the same time.
I am down from almost 3 days to 1.5. And that is with using it less as the newness of it wore off.
I am back to normal now two days and at 40%. No idea why it's gotten better I'm not changing how use the watch really. Very strange.

How long did it take to get back to normal?
I also have the same problem since last update. I usually had 3 days with a charge, now it lasts just two days, sometimes less.
Don't know if it comes from the watch itself or the phone, I have a Note 4. I would say from the watch, because when using the watch in autonomous mode without phone, I still have four days battery life.

Sudden battery disaster

Nothing knowingly changed on my usage (did download a slightly more colourful watch face but stopped using it and back to black) switched off S-Voice and disabled overnight notifications, don't use AOD, and battery is getting worse. 99% at 11.30pm last night and now at 8.20pm next day it's at 21%
Any suggestions? (UK model S3)
Disable Settings->Gear Info->Report Diagnostic and usage info See if that helps.

You might also want to force a reboot by Holding in the Power Button. If something odd happened a reboot might clear it.

Sorted - thanks. Not sure why, but sorted
Yeah mine went to **** today after weather updated in the gear store. Battery stats showed the weather app drained 57%. Rebooting the watch fixed it and the drain subsided.

Still new to the Gear S3. Where do you find the battery stats for what apps might be using what percentage? Or is it a 3rd party app that shows that info. Thanks.

Thanks. I was looking on the watch not in the phone app - found it. Watch faces are using quite a bit in my Gear.
So I have been getting about 4 days usage up til last night, I normally recharge after about 3 days.
However when I got up this morning my watch was off and when I started it it was on 1 %, this was after 1d 21h of usage :-
Samsung health 29%
watch faces 16%
Notifications 9 % etc
I have not changed the way I use the watch or installed anything new in the last couple of days apart from Samsung pay on the phone (it is not available on the watch yet in UK)
So it looks like samsung health any ideas why its draining the battery?
I found this happens on my S3 and S2 (prior to that), i do a full reset and sorted.
Yes a pain, but i don't have any 3rd party apps and its just tweaking the settings, 15 mins tops.
I just had this begin this week. Used to use the watch and have it last 18hrs with >35% batt at the end of that period.
Suddenly in the middle of this week it began making it less than 8 hrs.
Watch is 1 month old.
Reboots/power offs have not helped. Will try full reset.
Little button on back of watch?

Same problem here on my wifi classic gear s3 idk what's the cause if it like not even 6 hour and it's dead sometimes out of nowhere
Same here. All of a sudden, bad battery life. Turning off S Voice wakeup made things a lot better.

On Android Wear weather and smarter watch faces normally takes quite a lot of battery.

I had the same issue for a day, my battery was drained before I left work. I tried power cycling the S3 multiple times without resolution. So, when I got home and charged the S3 back up to troubleshoot the problem, I ended up rebooting my phone that the S3 was tethered to. After rebooting my phone, my S3 was back to normal battery life. Go figure!

It was definitely not an app gone wild. In fact, the gear app showed the *only* battery usage was the watch face, and I've been using the same one for weeks.
In my case, as everyone else said, a factory reset fixed whatever the issue was. I restored the same apps and faces from backup. Battery life is back to 1.5 days with screen always on.

Aaaaaand it's back. Been running solid for days with ample battery remaining.
Last night I powered off the watch, which I had not done since I factory reset last week. This was the first time it has been rebooted or power cycled since the reset.
I noted it showed 55% battery when I put it on the charger last night. That was typical of what I've seen over the last several days after 18+hr days.
This morning I powered on at 7:30am. I have not run any apps on it, or used it for anything other than a watch with the same face I've had the entire time.
In 3.5 hours the battery has dropped to 75%.
The last several days it's been above 90% until well after lunch, even with use.
Don't know what is going on.

Update on today:
7:30am 100%
5:30pm 20% (last 2 hrs in power save mode)
Previous 5 days:
6:30am 100%
10:30pm >50%
(That's with always on display)
This doesn't feel like a battery calibration issue. The previous days I get a solid 36 hrs with AOD on.

Do you guys know if the Batter drain is greater if the watch is not connected to the phone? I got a Classic and Frontier. Went to bed with about 5% difference in battery...and woke up to find a 20% difference between the two.

The cellular radio is a major drain on the battery. It can be set to ON, OFF, or AUTO. By default it's set to AUTO and will be activated when disconnected from the phone. Under the best circumstances in standalone mode, it can drain at more than 2% per hour. In an area with a weak signal, the battery can be drained dry in a handful of hours.

Samsung frontier

Is the frontier still having battery drain issue?
Mine isn't. I usually have 40%+ battery life at 10pm after taking it off the charger around 6am.

How long does it last on light use
Hard telling, I guess. What's light use to you? I have notifications going off all day, step counter, Samsung Health on, and weather, but I don't use AOD. If you're going to use less than that it will last even longer.

My bad ,meant to say, main purpose I am using it to sleep track , and what the difference with Galaxy watch and frontier, same features?
My frontier is on the latest firmware. I turn it on at 7.30 am and use it at work to get my emails and messages etc as well as football score alerts. It regularly switches from bluetooth to works wifi. Up to 1730 PM is loses about 25% battery. It is one year old now. I am happy with its performance
gf's Galaxy watch with AOD uses about ~50% from like 7AM to 6PM. My S3 that i use not as heavy with AOD lasts me about 2 days+ with ~20% battery left, or with heavy use at least 24h+.
Really not bad with AOD on. Running 4.0.0.4 on S3, no idea about the Galaxy Watch firmware, didn't checked, but it should be running latest firmware.
Heres a picture from last full charge, got ~20% before charge (very light use)
