I have just OTA updated my TA-1000 to OREO - Android 8.0.0 and I found the start up of Facebook becomes slow.
It takes around 3 to 5 second to load.
That will be for first time
You can make a hard reset
If it still occurs, then dont worry, sometime it happens due to confliction of other apps which are running on the background
And after you run the app for first time, then second time it wont took long time
Even we have computer with Core i7 processor but still we see some apps took upto 1 minute, depending on the size of app
Facebook is a large size app, it took time because of its size
Sometimes other apps took place in RAM in the background and keep running
This let the new closed app to run slower
Once it runs and took its own place on the RAM then it run smoothly next time
thats because oreo is closing fb app in the background so it needs to start all again
Thanks. I certainly has done what you have mentioned before creating this post. I even reset the phone and reinstalled all APPs and installed FB before all other APPs. But it is still very slow each time I start the APPs..
Update: TA-1000 Feb update has improved the facebook start-up and response time.

I more or less like how android is managing apps on it's own, but sometimes it's just too random. I want some apps to just keep in memory no matter what.
Sometimes I get out of an app 1, do something in app 2 for 10 minutes then get back to app 1 and it turns on instantly. In other cases I go from app 1 to app 2, do 1 second thing, get back to app 1 and it has to load for 10 seconds because Android already cleared it from memory. When I have to make 1 second jumps a lot and half of the time android decides it has to add me 10 second wait it gets just frustrating.
I've found dozens of task managers, but all they do is let me kill apps manually to free the memory(which I don't really see point of, as the most I cleared was probably about 6 megs) and easily swap between apps. But problem is the swapping is worth nothing if apps have to load every time.
I am just looking for app/a way to force android never to clear memory of chosen apps until I kill them manually. It would do wonders for ebook reader, which sometimes has to open big epubs, and all of them take a while opening it. I might want to add dialer app to it too, as it starts a bit too slow when android decides it's unnecessary in memory.
I know that spare parts can make home screen try to keep in memory, so there should be possibility to force other apps to try to keep in memory, right?
Edit: I know this is in the wrong place, I didn't scroll down enough! I can't find the option to delete and re-post it in the proper place though :-(
Hello XDA.
Ok. Got my x10 in September prior to the 2.1 "update"
Since the update I've had loads of issues.
-Occasionally (upto once a week) everything will vanish. All my apps, my menu is empty and my home screens are empty. I tried changing to pro Launcher but it didn't make any difference. While in this "mode" I can use the phone as normal as long as the app is already open in the background. To fix it - reboot the phone.
-the phone is generally slow. It hangs loading the phonebook, the menu and general UI is slow and lags when doing anything including making, receiving and ending phone calls - and sending texts.
- Occasionally (at least twice a week) my phone will not send a text, ie I have to "resend message".
- Daily (at least once a day, when I notice it) the phone will decide to drop all network communication for no reason. One second I have 4-5 bars then all of a sudden a X appears over the status. It only lasts about 5 seconds and has not actually bothered me because it dosn't seem to happen in call but it's strange.
The major issue is that it's generally slow and sluggish.
I have: Re-installed the OS twice to no help. It's even slow and sluggish with nothing installed apart from the default SE stuff.
So, firstly is this normal? Also, can I just install another android version (eg one from HTC or something) onto the phone - Android is all open and happy so I assume this can be done right?
Thanks
Quite an annoying problem that only started showing itself after switching to Eclipse. When clearing RAM the phone will sometimes show a blank home page and you'll have to wait about 10-20 seconds for it to fix itself. It seems like the TouchWiz Launcher is getting closed by clearing RAM and it has to restart itself. Another app I was using had to restart TW and it did the exact same thing(blank home page for about half a minute). Pictures below.
Would really appreciate some help, can't stand it sometimes. Even if no one has a fix I would still appreciate some confirmation that this is an Eclipse bug. Thanks for taking the time guys.
When you clear ram it tells you that it may stop running processes. It is not surprising that the launcher has to reload. You should never have to clear ram, android will shut down things on its own to make room for new running apps.
yes it seems to shut down the launcher for a moment..but mine comes back in like 2 seconds tops...for em it doesnt do it all the time..like I just tried it and it went right back to the homescreen immediately
@hoppermi I understand that but sometimes the RAM almost caps, I've gotten to 300 before with no processes open(well I had Skype and other such apps running in the background). Still, this was never a problem with GC or Humble. Can't speak for stock since I stayed on it for about 8 hours but it seems like a problem with TW.
Just so you know
This even happens on the Stock on occasion. Not 100% though, but every so often.
"RAM almost capping" -- assuming you mean what I think you mean -- is perfectly normal Android behavior. That's exactly why Google so adamantly recommends against running task killers. If you do actually run out of RAM, the OS will end tasks automatically.
Haha I totally forgot about that, I always wondered why I have 260mb being used, open then close PvZ or Angry birds and I'm suddenly only using 180mb. Well thanks, guess I'm done clearing RAM for the time being. Still odd that this only happens with TW.
I think most launchers try to keep themselves in the memory...the one that came with Eclipse apparently does not.
Hi. I have small problem here.
Today out of curiosity I checked the battery usage. Usually (for me) it was that the screen took about 50%, and the rest of processes oscalated below 10-15%, where the most took System. Today however I noticed the second System process, that took 35-50%. Second System process behaves like the one that I had before, taking ~10%. When I tap on it, it shows me long list of subprocesses, so this is deffinetly the main Android System process. The second one(the one that I noticed today) has no subprocesses.
Is there any way I can pinpoint the exact service, or app that is responsible for that second System process, or I have to play with system restores, uninstalling apps one by one etc?
Before there was deffinetly no such process(and even if there was, it was at the bottom of the list, taking only couple %), because I would notice it.
I have SGS+ i9001, Android 2.3.6 Open Rom. From what I installed lately, some bigger things I remember are DropSync, new Beta Swype and WidgetSoid 2x.
Lucas
Shake 'n Rotate was the culprit. After uninstalling, it is how it was before. The screen takes ~50%, while all the rest takes below 10%, with system as being close to the top.
Topic ready to close.
My stock ROM crashes (or auto-reboots) every 9 days 9 hrs 30min like a clock.
It happened for at least third time in a row, or most likely it is going on like this all the time because I only noticed this odd behavior when I installed a little "uptime" app. After 3 times obviously that's not coincidence, something is causing my phone to crash or reboot every 9d 9hrs 30min.
Has anyone else notice or had same problem?
Stock rom, locked/unrooted, with stock apps and very few extra apps installed, after previous crash I removed almost everything I had installed in the past, I kept only AirDroid, ColReader, Google Drive, File Manager, Mobo player, Skype, SPB TV, TeamViewer - nothing else, yet it still crashed. I can't figure out is it ROM or any of the apps.
edit - perhaps I should have posted in ROM development... Moderator, please move it?
I wish I could help but I've never been able to stay on the stock ROM for that long.
But....no, you've posted in the right place. Put it in developement and it'll get moved to HERE.
There's a TMobile app on there that monitors the days until suggested reboot (7 days) and will then proceed to "warn" you consistently when you're over that period. It is possible that this app is clashing with one of your other apps or doing something in the phone - maybe using too much memory? /shrug
My phone does the exact same thing after a week but it doesn't reboot, it just randomly "soft-crashes" after I hit the back or home key while playing a game or backing out of dialer, apps, etc.
It's extremely annoying and happens whether I have few apps or my normal stock of apps; the only time it doesn't happen at all is after a factory reset (if I don't update anything).
The only thing I can do to stop it is to reboot the phone, as suggested on the 7th day...as soon as I see that notification, I reboot and so far so good.
Good Luck.
