As i can see to make custom rom on A/B partition its not easy .. Why devs dont take customs roms from pixel also mi a1 kernel and just compare them ? i dont have knowledge to make something like that dont judge me

I have been waiting for a long time assuming some developer might take up development for Xiaomi Mi-ONE phone which ships with MIUI ROM as stock, with recovery that can let you boot into two different partitions for flashing an updated ROM when you need etc.
However, there seems to be absolutely no interest in developing for this phone, even after the sources are out ! I bought this phone hoping I can make good use of the "unlocked from factory " ecosystem. The phone has a recovery, but it can flash only an update.zip file which means i can only update the OS with a newer MIUI version that releases every week. Other than that, there is no custom kernel/recovery that i can use with this phone, simply because there is nothing developed yet.
Having a custom recovery would help people flash MODS like beatsaudio apks & libs, framework mods etc . I somehow like this phone even with all this handicap of custom recovery not being available yet, but hope some one starts a development effort for this beast of a phone and help ppl like me
I would myself try and help in whatever way i can for the development of this phone, but since i have never tried any development activity for a phone, i am at sea !!
Esteemed developers, plz help !!

My mi-one is awaiting.collection at the post office, so keep on eye on miui-au

And the reason there is no custom kernel/recovery/rom is because no source is available. The rom is not open source (only a few apps are), and no kernel source has.ever.been made public (which is against gpl, i know, but its the truth)

well its good then.. i ll keep an tab on miui-au Thanks for the info.
I heard MIUI is actually built on CM9 base. So could it be possible to take AOSP CM9 kernel source and tweak it for MI-One ? I guess most of the hardware is similar between Nexus S & Mi-One, except for some specific functionality. May be i should give it a try .. do you hav any suggestions ? I basically hate the stock recovery which comes with this phone, coz it allows me to flash only update.zip and not any other zip file unlike the awesome CWM recovery !!!
And you most likely won't many developers are not happy about what the Dev of MIUI did by taking the code of another developer making it closed source and then selling it. Not to mention there are things that are legal in China that are not in the rest of the world. With a huge China government backing backing it makes many people avoid it.

The mi-one is more similar to the htc sensation than anything else, but no, without device specific stuff from xiaomi its just not gonna happen. I might try sometime if i can do it just via ramdisk mods but i doubt it (wouldnt hold your breath).
As for the comment about taking stuff and selling it, that was hardly the case. CM was used as a base for ports, but the mi-one rom (which is the only one thats "sold") is xiaomi code. The only thing theyve done which is a violation of other developers is not releasing the kernel source.
My phone, Gt-S7500L (galaxy ace plus) isn't so famous among the Android owners, so there are many custom roms. We dont have Cyanogemmod, and its is a sad thing, but im actually trying to port it from the galaxy ace throught the android kitchen. I m afraid of bricking my phone, so my question is if i use the STOCK kernel in the custom ROM that i'm porting, is there any chance of HARD brick(softbrick isnt a real problem,i backuped the OS)? I know! Custom rom without custom kernel may dont make sense, beu we, ace plus owners, are desperate.
Thank u :good:

bricked= bootloader corrupted if you don't touch bootloader nothing happens
maybe you think about a hardware failure ..this is possible when porting a rom
to port a rom is not about copy/paste files from somewhere if you see kitchen has "experimental support" for porting it can help you to "put things together" I mean to root that rom and add some features then pack in a flashable .zip format but you need a rom for that ! kitchen can help you to port in the case you get Cyanogenmod sources for a device that is almost the same as hardware specs with yours
Actually was wondering and searched for so many sd 615 smartphones out there which have original official development ...
one of the sd 615 running phone is Yu Yureka in india ....
for any porter or developer active here can you please check out if those roms can be ported for our device i.e MI4I ?

To be honest
We use tomato as reference for our device tree...
What do you mean of "original official development"
The rom being official bcuz they have official maintainer for that rom
But at the end... The tree is same,
The conclusion is..
If device a have stable tree ,but they don't make it official for rom a
Is it still called stable?
Or if device a have stable tree, and their tree approved at rom b
Is it called stable?
It's still same right?
"for any porter or developer active here can you please check out if those roms can be ported for our device i.e MI4I ?"
You can build it from source
Which rom you like... And compile it,voila yougot the same rom...

i don't have that much knowledge about all that , but i have heard about the same chipset roms can be ported so that's why i asked for a reference from someone here ...
sad to know that we don't have development for MI4i even though it is such a good device ...

Now i confused with your questions..
"we don't have development for MI4i"
Why you said that?
We're not do a port
But compile it from source...

Actually i asked for ports if that can be done from Yureka ..
And ultimately my need is few good custom roms nothing else ... Maybe many others are also looking for custom roms for mi4i .
Well question aside , which kernel would you suggest for good battery backup on XOSP ? I am using XOSP since last Night .. , i dont do gaming or hard multitasking .. Just need good battery backup .. Any kernel which u'll suggest ?

As a owner mi 4i ,I am very disappointed with this device. If there was or is no devs for this device ,I will smash mi4i on the wall.. Lol.FYI ,devs in here had done very good job for our mi 4i.They are the main reason that I still have mi 4i.The main problem of mi 4i is heating problem for snap. 615(Idk why other phones with same chipset don't have that much problem) or maybe there is some kind of hardware bug .So devs can't do nothing about this.
You can't demand any development from devs.
Did you try all ROMs available here?I am using cm 13 with sensei kernel.Lag free ,good battery backup.
Be thankful to devs for their hardwork for our device.

Sir,I have used latest miui.Battery back up is somehow good but when multitasking,it is going crazy...
I have one question ,why every custom rom here is based on 6.6.10?Is there was any advantage of basing on that version ?
I just want to request all the developers to please develop more Roms for mi4i.. please don't abandon this poor device...
is there anyone to make a custom rom for this device?
many people here can test every build that comes up
I like everyone else here am very new to this. I have managed to root my device and install Magisk however some of the mods are giving me some trouble. I have not fond ANY ROMs or Kernels for my device. I am still to novice to build any them myself so I'm basically just left with Magisk my question is are there any other device models like the YT3-Plus or the YT2-X90L. that i can use to flash for the features etc.. AAANNNDD do they have Prebuilt ROMS or MODS that are not device specifice yet that i cloud make use of until I can build better ones? Any advice or direction is welcome ...
